Formal wear season is year-round. Which means that fancy dresses are needed year-round, too. From fancy New Year's parties to anniversaries in the spring to prom to weddings to the opening of football season (well, in our house, at least), women will find themselves in constant need of a beautiful new dress to wear for the occasion, and men will find themselves in constant need of not spending the entire day at a dress shop, and also not spending a lot of money.Elegant Mart helps everyone in that scenario. With a few clicks, women can shop for all the fancy formal wear they want: evening dresses, prom dresses, things to wear to weddings, it's all there. And the men can sit at the table reading Sports Illustrated and pretending to look when their wives tell them to look. When the time comes to pay, men, you'll be happy, too, because Elegant Mart's prices are great.Dress up more and less: More dresses, more ease, less expensive.

    NHL Playoffs. Conference Finals. Fight.
    2008-05-06 10:04:00
We'll get right to the picks son.EASTERN CONFERENCEPittsburgh over Philadelphia (6 Games)I feel like a hater but Pittsburgh is playing so well right now in all facets of the game. Philly has been carried by timely goals and excellent goaltending. The Flyers have to come out fast in Game 1. If they play poorly the Philly fans will begin to turn on them quickly. If the Flyers go down 0-2 expect the sweep. On the flip side, if the Flyers dominate Game 1, the talk amongst Philly fans will only be about whether this is the best team every in history. The Flyers have been involved in 6 one-goal games so far in the playoffs. They are 3-3 in those games. The Flyers have lost the first game of each of their first to series' by 1 goal. The Penguins have been involved in 2 one-goal games so far. They're 2-0.WESTERN CONFERENCEDetroit over Dallas (7 Games)The Red Wings are due. It's been almost a decade since their last Cup. NBA Playoffs. Round 2. Fight.
    2008-05-05 19:51:00
We'll make this simple. Embellishment is the cement that holds bloggers together so it's tough to be succinct.EASTERN CONFERENCEOrlando over Detroit (7 Games)Detroit might say that they got "woke up" by Philly, but the Sixers took something out of them and exposed a few flaws.Orlando has the deadly shooters that Philly did notAs unguardable as 'Sheed can be, Dwight Howard is flat out unstoppable when motivatedI just don't see Detroit getting it doneIf you told me Detroit won I wouldn't be surprised but what the hellBoston over Cleveland (5 Games)I like Boston's bench a lot better, especially if Sam-I-Am gets going. Nobody on the Cav's bench really does anything for me.Don't underestimate Kendrick Perkins. He's been playing very well thus far in the playoffs.LeBron can't do it alone. Unless he's shooting 60% from the floor and 50% from 3 for the series, he's in trouble. The Celtics play excellent team DUnlike Detroit, I think Atlanta pushing Boston will be beneficial. NBA Playoffs 2008 Second Round is coming
    2008-05-04 23:00:33
and yeah second round playoffs is coming, and the funny thing on the Eastern series was the number one team of the East the Celtics has forced to play on game seven by the number eight team Atlanta Hawks which mean they exhausted, anything can happens. And sure they will face against the Cavaliers which only take six games with the Washington Wizards. On Western, the Los Angeles Lakers got plenty days to get some rest to play against the Jazz who beat the Rockets, personally I would like Lakers play on Rockets on second round which more interesting game between Kobe and McGrady. I hope you guys still with me for the rest of the games. Thanks for visiting.

    Playoffs Open Thread
    2008-05-04 00:21:11
Philadelphia finished off the surprisingly ineffective Canadiens 6-4, to win the series four games to one.  Most likely there will be a battle of Pennsylvania in the Eastern Conference Finals. Sunday's games: Rangers at Penguins, 12:00 PM Mountain time on NBC, and then the Sharks at Stars at 7:00 PM on Versus. This is a game day open thread for anyone inclined to discuss these games.  Have at it.

The Nuggets Don’t Deserve To Make Playoffs
    2008-04-06 14:47:11
I’m a baaaad Nuggets fan. I don’t focus on the things they do well - transition offense, creating turnovers, their ever-improving inside-out game, their ability to play through injuries, or the fact that on any given night they can beat any team in the NBA. Instead, I focus on the fact the Nuggets are lazy [...]

Watch Out - The 76ers are in the Playoffs
    2008-04-05 23:12:45
With their win over Atlanta Friday night the 76ers officially locked up a playoff spot for the first time since 2005. I don't think anyone in Philly, outside the city and around the country thought this was a realistic possibility. Especially when you consider on February 4th the Sixers were 12 games below .500 at 18-30. The growth and improvement this team has shown is remarkable. And tremendous credit must got to Ed Stefanski for coming in telling Mo to play the young guys. As well as Maurice Cheeks for not pushing back on that request and making the most of every players ability.

The Playoffs: How To Keep Your Cool
    2008-04-03 11:48:14
I constantly marvel at how Bill (IwoCPO) and his disciples at Abel To Yzerman can be so pompous and full of themselves throughout every regular season, but come playoff time they collapse into wavering puddles of stress and nervousness as they anxiously await the impending and unavoidable collapse of the Red Wings in the post-season.   First round or third, it doesn't matter.  They know that the Wings will hit the wall and they agonize over every little sign that something has started to go wrong. His latest post (and the comments) is just one example of this peculiar phenomenon. Here at Mile High Hockey, we Avalanche fans have it a little easier.  Sure, we're still used to our team making the playoffs and reaching at least the second round every time, but last year's debacle and this year's near-miss have jaded us a bit.  Some of us are probably just satisfied that the team clinched a spot at all.  Some of us maybe even wish they hadn't because it probably m

No Reseeding for the Playoffs - at Least Not Yet
    2008-04-02 17:05:29
The owners meetings continued today in Palm Beach, Florida, and the biggest thing that did not move forward was a new rule with wild card teams with better records than divisional winners getting home wild card games in the first round of the playoffs.  The league’s competition committee withdrew the proposal earlier today at the [...]

    Divisional Playoffs Recap
    2008-01-13 20:52:00
So much for going 11-0 in picking the playoffs. Only went 2-2 this week in picking winner and 1-3 against the spread.Packers over SeahawksThis was an easy one to pick. Seattle has no running game and I didn't expect them to do much in the snow at Lambeau Field against Brett Favre. Ryan Grant really has come out of nowhere, hasn't he? Goes to show that drafting running backs early is not a good idea unless they are absolutely special.Patriots over JaguarsAnother easy one to pick, though the Jags did manage to cover the spread. Somehow they kept it relatively close, but if you look at the stats, there was no way that Jacksonville could have won this game. Aside from a game-ending pick, the Jags played an excellent game. Garrard did exceptionally well vs the Patriots defense, they had some success running the ball, and there were almost no penalties.Still, the Patriots handled them easily. Tom Brady was impossibly good, going 26 for 28, with one of the incompletions being a foolish Welker drop (I don't remember the other one). They did whatever they wanted with Jacksonville's D.Chargers over ColtsThis was a huge surprise to me. I know the Chargers always play the Colts tough, but its the playoffs and the Colts were at home as defending champs. Phillip Rivers hasn't struck me as a clutch QB till now, and I was certain the game was over when Volek took the ball down 3, without LT and with a hobbled Antonio Gates. How the Colts lost this one is beyond me.Giants over CowboysAnother huge upset, though part of me saw this coming. The Giants had been uncharacteristically hot entering the playoffs, and the 'Boys were ice cold and beginning to flounder. I still picked the Cowboys because I have zero faith in Eli Manning's ability to succeed in the playoffs. However, he keeps proving me wrong somehow. As for next week's conference title games....Patriots over ChargersThis really is a no-brainer. I don't care how great a win the Indy game was for San Diego, or how motivate

Chargers find there are catches to winning in playoffs
    2008-01-07 11:07:00
The Tennessee Titans based their chances against the Chargers on stopping LaDainian Tomlinson and Antonio Gates in Sunday’s wild card playoff game. That they did … but win they didn’t.So why were the Chargers able to pull out a 17-6 victory for their first playoff win in 13 years?Because once it was obvious Tomlinson couldn’t run (21 carries, 42 yards, 1 touchdown) and Gates (sprained left big toe) was injured in the second quarter, the Titans lost their game plan. They had prepared so much for silencing Tomlinson and Gates that they forgot about San Diego wide receivers Chris Chambers and Vincent Jackson.Chambers had six receptions for 121 yards; Jackson made five receptions for 114 yards and the go-ahead touchdown in the third quarter. And once Jackson’s catch gave the Chargers a 10-6 lead, the game was over. It was obvious that Tennessee’s lame offense wasn’t going to score a touchdown if the game lasted until Friday."It's a relief, but at the same time, it's not like we're saying, 'OK, we won a playoff game, so let's get ready to lose,' you know what I mean?” Tomlinson said. “I'm already thinking about next week and how tough of a game we're going to have going to Indianapolis, facing the champs."Yes, it’s going to get tougher for the Chargers. They have recorded seven straight wins – coming against five losing teams, along with two victories over Tennessee. The Indianapolis Colts team they face on the road Sunday is the defending Super Bowl champion, mind you.The Chargers have made a habit lately of being a strong second half team against weak teams. This week, they better play a strong first half or there may not be enough margin of error after halftime. But at least the Colts learned one thing sitting on their collective couches Sunday: If you slow down Tomlinson and Gates, it might not be enough to beat the Chargers anymore.

Ninth Inning Home Runs Assure The Red Sox A Win...And A Clinch For The Playoffs!
    2007-09-23 12:06:00
Boom! BOOM! And just like that, in the ninth inning Saturday night, the Boston Red Sox forged ahead to an 8-6 lead and Jonathon Papelbon started warming up in the bullpen for the bottom of that frame. And 12 pitches later, it was ovah!! SOX WIN, and better yet, they clinched a playoff berth....no ifs, ands or buts. They're in. Of course, winning the AL East would be so nice, but that will have to wait as they try to win all seven of their remaining games. Were it not for the ineptitude of the Toronto Blue Jays, who blew a 2 run lead over the Yankees in the bottom of the ninth, the Sox would be up by 3 1/2 games instead of 2 1/2. But an error by the Jays' second baseman let the tying two runs score, and the pinstripers went on to win the game in 10. Oh well, enough about them.Daisuke Matsuzaka was good until the seventh inning, when he walked Velandia and Iwamura. His night was done, and the score at the time, with 2 on and 2 out, was 5-3 Sox. A quality start, albeit with a ton of pitch

Can Padres pitchers match up in playoffs?
    2007-09-19 04:57:00
Since it looks like a strong possibility that the Padres will make the National League playoffs, the team might soon have to figure out its postseason pitching rotation.Of course, the rotation would start with Jake Peavy, Greg Maddux and Chris Young. After that, it’s a big question mark since current numbers 4 and 5 starters Brett Tomko and Jack Cassel are not eligible for the playoffs because they were not on the Padres’ roster Sept. 1.In all likelihood, that would make Justin Germano (who has been dropped out of the rotation), the number 4 starter. The other three all have question marks to consider:Peavy is 0-2 with a 12.10 ERA in two postseason starts.Maddux is 5-3 with a 3.47 ERA in the division series, but he’s just 4-8 with a 3.80 ERA in the league championship series.Young has been the only winning pitcher for the Padres during the last two years of the playoffs, yet he has not won this season since July.Looking at the Padres’ possible chances playoffs, these numbers are only food for thought.

    Countdown to the Playoffs
    2007-09-15 18:20:00
Yesterday I updated my countdown clock, and now it refers to the start of the MLB playoffs, which begin with the Divison Series on October 3. No time is yet set for the first game that day, so I used 12 noon until I find an exact time.Last night? Less said about that travesty the better. Terry Francona did an absolutely awful job of managing the pen in the eighth. I have a lot of respect for Tito's ability as a manager (he's the best Red Sox manager since Dick Williams), and he handles a bullpen far better than Joe Torre does, but he blew it last night by not having Manny Delcarmen or Jonathan Papelbon throwing when the inning started, and it cost them the game. Hideki Okajima is crashing down to earth, and it may finally be time to use Eric Gagne in the eighth, the main reason they got him. That game took about five years off my life last night.

    Not many fights in playoffs
    2007-06-04 21:03:00
It's been a while since I've last posted. There hasn't been much since Flames' Dion Phaneuf and Red Wings' Todd Bertuzzi had their wrestling match. Although the Ducks' Shawn Thornton and Red Wings' Danny Markov had a short fight if you want to call it that. And in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals there was a big scrum with Senators' Mike Fisher and Ducks' Ryan Getzlaf going at it and Senators' Peter Schaefer and Ducks' Dustin Penner wrestling on the ice.

    NBA Playoffs no longer watchable
    2007-05-21 17:57:00
Do you still care about the NBA Playoffs? I don't.I tried to watch some of the San Antonio-Utah matchup Sunday, and couldn't do it. Tim Duncan may very well be the best power forward in NBA history, and he may be en route to his fourth title, but the Spurs are just not watchable.Maybe it's because of lingering resentment over the Phoenix series, but I just can't watch the Spurs win again. They are dull, dull, dull. And Utah just plain isn't going to be good enough to give them a real challenge. As for the Detroit-Cleveland series, it might be interesting if I thought LeBron James had a real chance of leading the Cavs past the Pistons. But, I don't. When the Pistons feel like playing nobody in the Eastern Conference is as good as they are. They won't take their foot off the gas in this series, and they'll win it in 5.Then, we will get a matchup of two very good, but very dull and methodical teams playing for the title. And, as much as I love basketball, I won't be watching.techno

Can the A’s Make It To the Playoffs this Year?
    2007-05-18 20:00:41
On one hand I hate to speculate, because part of the fun of watching a professional sport is you don’t really want to know what the odds are they will win. If they’re lead is too large in the standings its not exciting anymore. And on the flipside if they are at the [...]

As the NBA playoffs get underway, i watch as the heat get EX-terminated, the laker’s are going fishing and the Mavs are looking very sloppy against their former head coach- Don Nelson, its unbelievable how many soft spots a former head coach can know about his team–enough to win a series 4-2 entering the playoffs [...]

    Civility? During the Playoffs?!
    2007-05-04 21:41:00
The hockey "blogosphere" (I hate that term) is a funny place. Like any subculture dominated by diehard devotees, hockey has a knack for producing foul-mouthed jerks bent on insulting anyone who disagrees with any opinion to which they adhere. The playoffs compound this infinitely.I tend to spend too much time perusing blogs from all over the league, and at a lot of those with teams still in the playoffs, the comments sections have gotten pretty nasty. Name-calling, personal insults, even homophobia and some veiled racism here and there. Fans from one team will torment the blog of another for days, especially after their team wins a game. It's pretty sad.Sometimes, cooler heads prevail. In one case, the blogger himself pulled the plug. In another, those who commented policed themselves and actually DISCUSSED the merits and weaknesses of each playoff team without petty attacks and cheap-shots. Can more hockey fans keep their heads about them and act like adults, instead of like

    NHL playoffs fights
    2007-04-15 22:31:00
Even though we're not deep into the playoffs there have been a few fights. This is a surprise to me and a good surprise. The Sharks-Predators series has been nasty as there have been cheap shots, fights, and now even coaches talking through the media about the series. Nice! This series so far has had Ryane Clowe vs Jordin Tootoo, Mike Grier vs Scott Hartnell, and Scott Hannan vs Jerred Smithson all happened at the same time. The best fight was between Clowe and Tootoo as after the fight Tootoo had a bloody nose. Watch the clip of these fights below.Sharks vs Predators fightsIn the Wild-Ducks series, so far there has been one fight with Brent Burns and Chris Kunitz. I gave that one a draw. In the Penguins-Senators series, there has been two fights. The first with Colby Armstrong and Mike Comrie going at it. I gave that one a draw as not much happened in it. Tonight, Dean McAmmond and Maxime Talbot had a spirited bout after Armstrong took out Patrick Eaves with a big hit. I gave the edg

    Playoffs, Here We Come
    2006-12-31 22:40:00
Of course, we knew last week that we were headed for the playoffs, but the win this week just made it sweeter. 12-4. That's a good record. Not outstanding, I suppose, but pretty darn good. A 75% win rate with so many injuries is impressive. (Speaking of injuries, Rodney Harrison had BETTER not be seriously hurt! We just got him back, and it was such a morale booster.) A great game, all in all. And the win didn't feel ruthless at all, ruining another team's playoff hopes while we were already headed for the postseason, because of all the fighting and animosity during the game. All those fifteen-yard penalties just made me want the win more.It was an interesting game, too, despite the fact that the final outcome didn't matter for us. Asante Samuel came up with two more spectacular interceptions, to add to his eight; his ten now lead the league (as I write this post). Vinny Testaverde came in and threw a touchdown pass, making it 20 consecutive seasons for him with at least one
