| Check Out Comedian & Political Activist Steve Hofstetter | | 2008-07-21 00:28:37 | | The topic below as originally posted on my blog, the Intrepid Liberal Journal.I received an email from comedian and political activist Steve Hofstetter asking me to post his video below encouraging young people to remember 2004's heartbreak and vote this year. I've sampled another of Hofstetter's videos and he's damn funny. If you want a good laugh I suggest clicking here and listening to his video about the lies and politics of drug abuse. The video below however is a sober reminder about the stakes of this election. Politicians disappoint and let us down. Our ultimate salvation resides with truth tellers such as Hofstetter who utilize their talents to promote awareness and combat apathy.http://www.relaywave.com/pingRelayWave.php

| Hizballah's Military Wing Under Pressure Despite Political Gains | | 2008-07-16 14:52:55 | | Hizballah has much to celebrate. But even as Hizballah enjoys the political dividends of its successes, its military wing finds itself under pressure at home and abroad. Notably, yesterday Britain's parliament...(read more) | | By: An American Warning | | |

| Political songs | | 2008-06-23 06:41:00 | | To speak about Italian politic's songs it must starts from longtime ago: the Ist World War. It's 1917 the year of famous October Russian's revolution and, in the same year, the fascism takes its bases with the less knows Battle of Piave River. We can see these two storic episodies as the two bases of the same kind of music: the politic songs. The politics songs can starts in differents methods, but the most part of its, and the most importants comes from the authors and their political cares. Fascism goes to power in 1920 and it will be the only possibles form of politic: who doesn't want it, could be imprisons , or could be, in the most of politicians cases, expelled from Italy as a normal criminal, but who makes politics as socialists, comunists, liberals, repubblicans, in the most part of cases goes away from Italy and went to France. The others (little) part of Italians with different politic ideas to the fascism can only to rest in silent, do not partecipates to fascists reunion | | By: CANZONI ITALIANE - ITALIAN SONGS | | |

| On Political Opportunism and Manufactured Controversies | | 2008-06-18 09:55:00 | | The 2008 presidential campaign is turning out to be the campaign of surrogates and guilt by association. John McCain, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and many other candidates have had to apologize for and/or distance themselves from some of their supporters who have made provocative, embarrassing, or downright offensive remarks. Some of these transgressions and embarrassments happened on the campaign trail, as was the case with Black Entertainment Television founder and Clinton supporter Bob Johnson who alluded to Barack Obama's past drug use. In other instances, the controversial remarks happened several years in the past, as was the case with Jeremiah Wright, Obama's former pastor. Some of these remarks are truly outrageous and deserve to be covered by the media. Any politician affiliated with a person who makes such remarks should rightfully be prepared to explain them. | This Week in Political Wonkery | | 2008-06-04 07:52:00 | | And so it ends (or begins, depending upon your view of things). At long last, our national nightmare of inconsequential Democratic strife has come to an end. For the most part, Rickey steered clear of discussing the matter, primarily due to the fact that in the absence of any substantial differences between the two candidates on the major issues, the discourse quickly devolved into petty bickering on the topics of corkscrew landings, renegade reverends, and musings on who whitey would feel most comfortable voting for in November. As the primary season dragged on (and on, and on…), Rickey had come to regard Hillary Clinton and her followers with the same attitude he does for the mother goose and her baby chicks that insist upon crossing the road on Rickey’s commute to work each day: get out of the goddamned way you goofy fuckers, this shit isn’t helping anyone. In principal, Rickey has no qualms with Hillary Clinton: she’s a strong candidate with a clear vision of how to undo the | | By: Riding With Rickey | | |

Here's a great political discussion and philosophy website that discusses political and social options. Stateless Society is an article repository with on-going discussions of alternative government, no government, and alternative currency ideas. It's a pretty site, very easy to navigate and very interesting read. It discusses the awesome benefits of life. I found myself agreeing to some of the points written in their articles. It's interesting reading some thoughts similar to what you have in mind. It is true that corruption is a problem in our governments, even from the smallest position available. I found it to be very interesting and thought provoking. There are some of the ideas presented on the site that I really really like. | The agenda of LTTE: Formulating infertile political leadership in the country | | 2008-05-13 08:56:28 | | For over two decades, it is only a single military and political leadership that has been prevailing under the fascist rule in the Wanni jungle. In the mean time, there have been five presidents ruling the country and military leadership has passed from hand to hand due to logistics and other rules of the country. Piripaharan is having only a single mission that is to defend and rule his territory by fascist iron fist. He has simply killed and eliminated political and military threats from the Tamil society. | Energy, the Environment, and Political Hypocrisy | | 2008-05-03 21:47:00 | | One of the more interesting political sideshows last week concerns the federal gas tax, which is assessed by the federal government to pay for the nation's transportation infrastructure. Revenue generated by the gas tax pays for new roads, tunnels, and bridges; repairing old or damaged ones; and conducting research to determine how and where to build new ones. Currently, the federal gas tax is 18.4 cents per gallon.Obviously, the more gas you buy, the more you pay in gas taxes. Some liberals have suggested increasing the gas tax as a way of driving down demand. This, they argue, would result in a cleaner environment and less dependence on foreign sources of oil. It's hard for politicians to not be in favor of either of these issues, especially the latter one because there is a major national security advantage to not having to rely on oil from nations that are either unstable or hostile towards the United States. | Political correctness breaks out in Bradford (again!) | | 2008-04-20 16:47:46 | | Bradford Police in West Yorkshire have had a double dose of political correctness come their way. It seems they can't abide anything English. The gobbledegook stuff they come up with is "health and safety" when they succeeded in banning a St.George's Day parade. The mean-spirited plods, who were in collusion with the council chiefs (a bunch of ne'er-do-well plonkers), just rabbitted on about this one issue. Shame on them. Why don't they go to China to enjoy themselves?Bradford City councillor Quasim Khan said, "We were told by the police at the meeting that the original route had not been risk assessed and if we wanted a march to go ahead on that date, St George's Day, we would have to accept a smaller, different route. The police officers were getting quite animated, saying things like 'look, this just isn't going to happen'." Police and council officials said they did not have sufficient warning of the event. Nonsense. Apparently these apparatchiks thought it would cause a race riot. | | By: A View from Middle England by Arden Forester

| The Study of Political Islam: A Must Read | | 2008-04-10 12:20:00 | | For those who haven't seen it yet, (myself included,) there was a very good, in depth article on Front Page Magazine back in Feb. 2007, that all should read regarding Political Islam. I myself just received it today via an American Congress for Truth e-letter.There is no way I can summarize the article enough and still project it's full force of understanding. But I'll attempt to keep brevity in the forefront. The article is an interview between FPM's Jamie Glazov and CSPI's (Center for the Study of Political Islam) director, Bill Warner.Glazov's interview of Warner covers many, many, aspects of Islam and why the average person today truly understands so little of it. Warner describes the CSPI as, "a group of scholars who are devoted to the scientific study of the foundational texts of Islam—Koran, Sira (life of Mohammed) and Hadith (traditions of Mohammed)." Of which, Warner states, they're studying both the doctrine and history of Islam, or as CSPI sees it, the theory and its resul | | By: Hoopy Frood Dude | | |

| Lame Political Discourse: Part 3 | | 2008-04-06 13:56:00 | | Until the Pennsylvania primaries two weeks from now, there is not much new going on in the political world. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are still fighting each other tooth and nail, John McCain is still trying to cobble together Republican support, and the pundits keep poring over fluctuating polls measuring head-to-head general election matchups. A consequence of these slow news periods is that it is easier for the media to focus on trivial or mundane matters. However, these dry periods also pose a risk for politicians because the magnifying glass of a larger news hole makes it easier for them to be caught flatfooted and for their warts to be exposed. The latest political foul ball comes from John McCain, who took offense to a comment liberal talk show host Ed Schultz made prior to a Barack Obama campaign event last Friday. Schultz called McCain a warmonger while he was ginning up the crowd prior to Obama's appearance. John McCain called upon Obama to repudiate the remarks:"M | | By: The 7-10 | | |

| The New Mexico Political Mess | | 2008-04-04 13:01:00 | | RICHARDSON STEPPED IN ITUntil his association with Barack Obama, Bill Richardson had a reputation for being self-deprecating and rather charming. New Mexico is a mess, politically. It is corrupt. It is dysfunctional. And, you’ve probably noticed even though it has one of the smallest populations of any state, it is usually the last state to have their vote count certified. There’s a simple reason. It takes awhile to get the vote count to match expectations and the pre-assigned winner. In other words, New Mexico is corrupt to the point where it redefines corruption. The corruption goes from the ... | | By: The Pink Flamingo | | |

| Barack and Bowling: A Political Gutterball | | 2008-04-02 11:11:00 | | Last weekend Barack Obama went bowling in Altoona, Pennsylvania, with Senator Bob Casey. As an avid bowler myself (hence the name of this blog, The 7-10), this story is of personal relevance to me. Bowling alleys are normally places for raucous laughter, intense competition, and playful teasing. Unfortunately for Obama, however, this seemingly innocent campaign event may come back to haunt him.Of course, Obama and his supporters probably thought the event was at least a modest success. After all, he got the chance to show his lighter side to voters and humanize himself. It showed him interacting with real regular people on their turf. And given the heated rhetoric, personal attacks, and overall negativity that often characterize politics, yukking it up with voters at the local bowling alley seems like a refreshing blast of fresh air. Before going any further, I must qualify this post by adding a disclaimer. Bowling is both a game and a sport. Some people take it more seriously t | | By: The 7-10 | | |

| Political Loyalty | | 2008-03-24 19:00:00 | |
Last week, Bill Richardson gave his official endorsement of Barack Obama. With this endorsement came criticism of his loyalty to the Clintons, even being referred to as a traitor. I don't know if Bill Richardson was just looking out for himself, but this whole question of being loyal to a person or political party is absolutely insane. What about being loyal to the United States of America? Let's say Bill Richardson was telling the truth and he believes that Barack Obama is a once in a lifetime leader. That being the case, then I think he owes it to his country to make this endorsement. If he didn't, then Bill Richardson would be putting his loyalties to a person before his loyalties to his country. This is the problem with today's political atmosphere--people's first loyalty is to themselves, their next loyalty is to their political party, then maybe their loyalty is to their country. Even the news media puts their first loyalty to ratings. If we are to get Americ | | By: Miscellaneous Reflexions

| New Zealand Bans Political Satire: Thank You Big Government | | 2008-03-23 16:13:32 | | In case anyone needed to keep up-to-date on Liberal Fascism around the world, New Zealand's politicians just banned the use of photos taken from their debating chambers that could later be used as satire. It is interesting watching the logical extent of "Progressivism" around the world. Too bad most of the American public is too enamored watching American Idol.
Apparently, New Zealand's...

| Malaysia Political Situation | | 2008-03-22 09:39:00 | | The ruling coalition BN continues to face an uphill battle to get its house in order having seen 2 Cabinet Deputy Ministers rejecting their appointments, the threat of defections from government party members to a newly-formed Opposition alliance under Anwar and now a challenger in Tengku Razaleigh, offering himself for the top job in UMNO.At this present stage, there is despair among the rank-and-file over the significant inroads made by the Opposition. A large dose of the blame for the poor performance is being put on the PM, with the bolder critics pointing to public disenchantment with PM's leadership as the source of the defeat of many candidates. Furthermore, the Malaysian economy is in desperate need of a boost amid a deepening global liquidity crisis and a US recession.Just an opinion.

| Obama's Speech: The Political Impact | | 2008-03-20 11:43:00 | | The big political story this week concerns the much-anticipated speech on race that Barack Obama gave in Pennsylvania. This speech was mainly in response to the controversy surrounding the firestorm brought about by remarks from his pastor Jeremiah Wright, but one can't help but wonder if it was also in response to the lingering racial tone the presidential race has taken over the past few months starting with Oprah Winfrey's endorsement of his campaign and Bill Clinton's race-baiting in South Carolina. Many pundits have already written about this speech and came to various conclusions. Liberal Democrats who liked Obama generally liked his speech and felt energized by his uplifting rhetoric. Many claimed that it was the best speech since "I Have a Dream." Conservative Republicans who didn't like him much to begin with were generally unimpressed. Some of them said it was more political than courageous. But liberals and conservatives are not the people Obama needed to address. The au | | By: The 7-10 | | |

I'm just throwing it out for a what it's worth. There is an interesting Sarah Palin development. A very liberal site is interested in George P. Bush as VP. The best part is how badly Tom Tancredo has miscalculated and why he isn't running again. Yep - hard-line anti-immigration is a loser, even for Tancredo! INTERESTING PALIN DEVELOPMENTDraft Sarah Palin has some fascinating news. | Death of Sreepathi, end of a fast track political career | | 2008-02-28 21:37:55 | | Sreepathi sooriarachchi was known to be a politician in a fast track. February 9th marked the end of his political career and, ironically it was resulted due to the excessive speed of his own vehicle. There are different motivations for a person to enter into politics. It is very few those who enter into politics as a natural extend to their genuine social service. The bulk of the people enter into politics due to their political family background or others come with business motives. The latest trend is to be a friend or close to political leaders and enter into the politics using the excessive power of the leaders. Sreepathi clearly fall into this category.Sreepathi was born in Kadana in Gampaha district in 1962. He did his A/L in St. Anthony’s college Watthala.
