| Giants Ranked #1 in Sporting News Power Poll | | 2008-05-08 07:25:55 | |
I said the other day I thought Peter King was pretty accurate saying the Giants are the 5th best team in the NFL, but who am I to argue with the Sporting News if they want to put the Super Bowl Champion New York Giants (Saying that just never ever gets old) number one
Anyway, enjoy! We're number one!

| CUBS Official Motto Declaration (With A Poll!) | | 2008-05-02 12:03:26 | |
Hey Dude, we all hate this. And you.
Enough already.
This little grassroots campaign was cute at first, but when it hits the cover of SI, things have gotten entirely out of hand.
I have several problems with this motto: the force-feeding marketing campaign we're all being subjected to, the fact that the lettering has clearly been ripped off from the Red Sox, and the fact that the continued propogation of the saying is probably jinxing us to time immemorial.
But the biggest problem I have with this motto is how vague it is.
"It's Going To Happen!"
Great. What, pray tell, is "It?" We're just supposed to take from granted that "It" is winning the WS? Why couldn't "It" just as easily be "sucking for the rest of the season?" Or "making it to the playoffs and getting swept?" Or "us being subjected to another 100 years of losing?"
In choosing a motto, a) we should know what it means; and b) it should be something that will endure year after year. In order to combat the scourge of this mott | | By: A League of Her Own

| POLL: Bush more problematic for McCain than Wright is for Obama | | 2008-05-02 08:57:51 | | It’s pretty amazing when a sitting President and your ties to his failed policies are the number one liability to your run for the Oval Office. Despite any real attempt to define McCain as Bush44, the public already sees the connection loud and clear. | Nintendo Power's Virtual Console Poll: Earthbound WINS the Top!! | | 2008-04-29 18:08:00 | | The results are in from Nintendo Power's poll of most wanted games for the Virtual Console. As I reported, Starmen.net urged fans to vote for Earthbound, and Mother, if you like (since Mother 3 is a GBA game, it's likely not ever coming to the VC, if it were to be released). the results....are surprising. The official results read:1) Earthbound2) Super Mario RPG3) Chrono Trigger4) Mother5) Majora's MaskYes. Earthbound DID get the top spot for the most wanted game people who voted want for the VC. And Mother got spot #4. Wow. I did not foresee this. At all.And check that out, Super Mario RPG beat Chrono Trigger??? And Earthbound even beat Chrono Trigger. Wow. Just...wow. That's really something. And I don't know what the Hell Majora's Mask is even doing on there. But will Nintendo of America listen to this either? Most likely not. I do hate to say it, but Nintendo is just so dead set on NOT releasing these games, they won't listen to ANYTHING. But congratulations to us, the fans, anyway | | By: Up+Start | | |

| Poll shows Obama's support weakening | | 2008-04-05 07:29:57 | | Senator Barack Obama’s support among Democrats nationally has softened over the last month — particularly among men and upper-income voters — as voters have taken a slightly less positive view of him than they did after his burst of victories in February, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll. This doesn't surprise me. After all, it's the upper-income types that have been helping to manipulate the US economy in their favour to the detriment of others. Obama has seen that the wreck caused by monetary spivs has to be addressed. They may just feel he could cause them to feel the pinch! The poll shows Obama leads McCain, and that not much else has changed. Just the well-off may not be in his camp! | Nintendo Power Virtual Console Poll: Vote for Earthbound! | | 2008-04-03 10:17:00 | | The newest issue of Nintendo Power asks readers to let them know what classic games they want to see on the Virtual Console, and want readers' lists of the top 5 choices they have for games, and the results will be posted 'in an upcoming issue'. However, take note that NP does say "This is for polling purposes only, and will in no way determine future Virtual Console releases". 'In no way'? Then why bother? Well, they are a magazine who is simply asking for audience feedback. That's part of it. But also, well, maybe Nintendo of America will take notice of some of the most popular choices, and consider putting them out on the VC.Naturally, Starmen.net is all over this, and suggests that if people want Mother and Earthbound/Mother 2 on the VC, they should put these games on their list. As I have shared, it now seems astronomically unlikely that NoA is going to ever touch the Mother series again; they don't want to release Mother 3, and it seems that Earthbound will not be on the VC, by N | | By: Up+Start | | |

| New Poll Gives Obama Edge in Pennsylvania | | 2008-04-02 23:42:43 | | Call him the comeback kid. According to a new poll done by Public Policy Polling (PPP), Obama now has a slight lead over Clinton in Pennsylvania. The poll showed Obama had 45 percent and Clinton had 43 percent support. A poll also done by PPP between March 15 and March 16 showed Clinton leading 56 percent to 30 percent. According to this PPP poll Clinton had a 26 percent lead just two weeks earlier. Obama still has a long way to go before he can claim any kind of victory in Pennsylvania. Certainly the kind of comeback he has had in the polls can be seen as a victory for the Obama campaign at this point in Pennsylvania. Barack Obama began lowering expectations in Pennsylvania as soon as he started campaigning there. Obama acknowledged that a 10 point loss to Clinton in the state would be entirely possible. Senator Clinton is counting heavily on Pennsylvania where she expected/expects to do well. Some say that a Clinton victory of 59 percent of the vote would | | By: The Mersman Political Blog | | |

| Zimbabwe run-off poll a possibility | | 2008-04-02 05:50:56 | | Archbishop Desmond Tutu has a nice way of speaking directly. Unlike Robert Mugabe, who appears to have developed a truth filter in his larynx! The Archbishop says of the Zimbabwean poll, "Even the dumbest of us would say that results would not have been held back... had it not been the fact that Mr Mugabe has not won. Had the Zanu-PF won these elections we would have heard them crowing a long time ago." Exactly, Mugabe, even with the previous fixings he managed, would have been out before the cameras like some parrot desperate to spill the beans on his owner's antics! Instead, he's holed up somewhere, eyeballing those around him to see if their body language is predicting a coup, or worse.I'd suggest he reverts to his cricketing metaphors and declares the game is over. He keeps telling the British Government that "it's not cricket", so now is the time for a new bat and ball. | Coach Q's Latest Poll Numbers Not So Good | | 2008-03-19 17:00:39 | | Adrian Dater is finally coming around: The chatter is definitely increasing. We here at the National Avalanche Security Agency are picking up lots more, especially when it comes to Joel Quenneville’s coaching decisions the other night in Minnesota. I’m not as big a Q basher as many fans, but I will say this: He had the wrong lineup against the Wild. He probably had one Cody too many, and his benching of Wojtek Wolski was, at this point in the season at least, counterproductive. He then goes on at length, naming each and every flub Coach Q made against Minnesota, which resulted in a 3-1 loss and a setback on the road to the playoffs. My favorite part: About the lineup the other night, not only was the wrong personnel in the game, but I didn’t like Q’s line combos much. Playing Ryan Smyth on a third line, with guys like Lappy and Tyler ("if it ain’t Edmonton, I ain’t scoring") Arnason was a disaster. Finally, by the end of the game, Smitty was | | By: Mile High Hockey | | |

In majority Muslim countries, overwhelming majorities said religion was a very important part of their lives -- 99 percent in Indonesia, 98 percent in Egypt, 95 percent in Pakistan. But only seven percent of the billion Muslims surveyed -- the radicals -- condoned the attacks on the United States in 2001, the poll showed. Moderate Muslims interviewed for the poll condemned the 9/11 attacks on New York and Washington because innocent lives were lost and civilians killed. (AFP)To be fair, 7% of 1.3 billion is 91 million. Of course, percentage wise, this number isn't as significant.Any thoughts?

| Obama Has Double Digit Lead in Texas Poll (or Not) * * updated* * | | 2008-02-23 23:42:56 | | Not that I'm putting much stock in a lone poll. From Decision Analyst:Barack Obama has a double digit lead over Hillary Clinton in Texas, according to a statewide survey of 678 registered voters planning to vote in the March 4 Democratic Primary. The survey was conducted February 20 and 21 by Decision Analyst, a major national survey research firm. Decision Analyst projections indicate that if the election were held today Obama would win 57% to 43% over Clinton. The surveys margin of error is 3 percentage points, plus or minus, at a 90% level of confidence.Previous polls had Obama and Clinton nearly tied. If we're to trust the validity of this poll them Obama has gained nine points in five days. Even factoring in the Texas debates Clinton's solid performance shouldn't have given Obama such a marked rise in support. Having said that I will however take this poll to mean that Obama's support in Texas continues to trend upward.I may spend a little time checking for other recent Texas polls | | By: Dyre Portents | | |

This poll comes on the heels of the Tory government possibly toppling over the mission in Afghanistan and its time line issue. The Conservatives want to continue the mission without a time line , The Liberals want our troops out of conflick by February and the NDP want this mission ended now. The National Party of Canada seems to out maneuvering all parties as the party most likely to introduce an investigation into the events of 9/11 in Ottawa. Not one CAP member has been elected. | ANOTHER Poll Finds Media Liberal Slant: Shocked? | | 2008-01-22 11:58:00 | | Does this news really surprise anyone any more? | Smorty Poll on Online Gaming Related Ads | | 2008-01-22 05:21:13 | | There had been a poll made by Smorty.com about the significant presence of online gaming related offers at the blogging marketplace. The poll choices are suitable to access the current situation from bloggers responses. The choices include bloggers who are happy with the situation, bloggers who want the offers filtered out, bloggers who want the offers to be banned, & bloggers who are happy anyway.I happened to fall in the last group which is the second largest majority of bloggers at Smorty blogging marketplace. I am happy that there are many offers thanks to the online gaming ads but I have done so many of them that I feel I have my choices constrained. | | By: internet executive log
