    Pope leaves Sydney
    2008-07-20 21:40:00
Praise God!Finally, we can have our lives back.I have to say, although amusing, the throngs of happy mass goers was starting to get on my nerves. Perhaps my hangover yesterday didn't help but there's only so much gold cross bearing with accompanying singing groups that I can take without getting a headache. We even saw 2 guys take helium balloons from Krispy Kreme (with permission, of course) and then go off singing down the street with their throng of Christian revellers....wtf? Why, why why would anyone do that? I just don't get it...perhaps they were singing the praises of the Krispy Kreme? The mind boggles.

Pope: All faiths must unite against violence
    2008-07-18 12:46:57
SYDNEY, Australia - Pope Benedict XVI told representatives of Islam and other faiths that they must unite to combat religion’s role in “sinister and indiscriminate” violence. Without mentioning terrorism directly, the pontiff said there were those in who were using religion “as a cause of division rather than a force for unity” in a 40-minute exchange [...]

    Giants' Pope arrested
    2008-06-21 20:43:22
Geesh, did the Giants suddenly turn into the Cincinnati Bengals? On the heels of the news that Ahmad Bradshaw is spending 30 days in jail, cornerback Geoffrey Pope faces felony charges after allegedly hitting a man over the head with a champagne bottle. Pope was a practice squad guy last season until injuries forced him into action in the playoffs. He's intriguing because of his blazing speed, but we may never know if he could be a player. Right now the Giants have 86 players, and they can only bring 80 to training camp. Pope may have just made one of those decisions a whole lot easier. The way things have been going, the Giants have enough problems right now without keeping around a marginal player who is in trouble with the law.

President George W. Bush Meets With Pope Benedict At The Vatican Amidst Rumors That Bush Will Soon Convert To Catholicism
    2008-06-13 11:33:00
President George W. Bush met with Pope Benedict at the Vatican yesterday amid growing rumors that Bush was seriously considering becoming a Roman Catholic. The two leaders gathered privately for half an hour in the 12th century Tower of St John. This was considered to be a great honor for Bush, and it was the Pope's way of reciprocating the warm reception that the Pope received when he visited the White House earlier this year. However, the big news here is that the Vatican is openly spreading the rumor that Bush may follow his good friend Tony Blair in converting to Catholicism.A portion of the source article is reproduced below:----http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/2122733/George-W-Bush-meets-Pope-amid-claims-he-might-convert-to-Catholicism.htmlGeorge W Bush and Pope Benedict XVI have held an intimate meeting in Rome as rumours mounted in Italy that the president may follow in Tony Blair's footsteps and convert to Catholicism. The two men spoke for half an hour

AFTER Ufo Visited Rome at Pope"john paul"Death IN 05.Now,Vatican is OK for Cath.to belive in ALIEN
    2008-05-15 15:06:56
VATICAN CITY — There could be alien life forms and believing they exist isn't contradictory to having faith in God, the top astronomer at the Vatican said in an interview published Tuesday. So i think finally they came out officially to declared this.Last year i posted a blog article about "Alien Ufo Visited Rome at Pope "john paul"Death".At that time even at ATS people not ready to take a look at it.Eye witness Reports:"I watched this as it happened live on TV. It was awesome and just a little chilling. I feel that this event (sign) is if great significance."The light pictured here appeared over St. Peter's Basilica. It was 6:03 a.m. Italian time on the morning of April 8, 2005, 6 hours before Pope John Paul II's funeral. The object appeared on a network feed camera. It passed quickly in a diagonal trajectory and has been dismissed by the meteorologist at WISH-TV in Indianapolis, where the image was noticed and the frame grabbed, as a bird. if i'm paying that much to smell like the pope he better sweat motherfucking god and cancer cures
    2008-05-12 18:03:00
This morning, Lamija Suljevicteam emailed me, and I've kind of been in love since. Not with Lamija (although I'm sure you're lovely) but with the designs of the duo Lamija and Gabomilla -- Lamilla, for short. The designs definitely feed my infatuation with all things morbid and romantic....and you know, French. Because if anyone can make all black seem like the only palette to wear, it's definitely the lovely duo of Alt and Roitfield. It's mainstream enough to be just the right amount of....I hate to say it, it doesn't seem right--goth, but definitely something I can see any number of fashionable starlets wearing. Or you know, me.I love the presentation of the pieces at well. The headpieces are odd and wonderful. At first, I thought they were beards (shut up) but they're balls? Okay that makes it sound worse but I am greatly amused by them and they somehow make the dresses seem that cooler. While I am just a puny student child, I of course can't afford the pieces with my nonexistent bank

'The Sports Pope,' Mike Francesa, is losing his mind on the air
    2008-05-09 22:30:00
If you're a fan of sports radio, no doubt there has been one point or another where you've tuned into WFAN to listen to Mike and the Mad Dog. The wildly popular show, with Mike Francesa and Chris Russo, has been a staple in New York City since 1989. It's almost hard to fathom the show has been on this long. And if you've listened to the show lately, you've no doubt heard a new kind of show, one where the two hosts clearly aren't getting along anymore off the air — and one where the arrogance of Francesa, where his disdain for the very people who make the show work — is absolutely tangible the moment you tune in.The show's popularity is driven by exceptional ratings. The ratings are what have allowed Francesa and Russo to be two of the highest-paid radio talkshow hosts in all of the country. Yet the show is getting out of hand of late, and Francesa's arrogance is driving people away in droves.Well, maybe it's not exactly driving people away. But it's causing them to take to the Inter

    Pope Benedict at Ground Zero
    2008-04-21 16:20:00
Here is the video of Pope Benedict XVI's visit to Ground Zero on Sunday morning. The entire clip, from Fox News, lasts about ten minutes."Oh God of love, compassion and healing, look on us people of many faiths and traditions who gather today at this site of incredible violence and pain. We ask in your goodness to give eternal light and peace to all who died here, to heroic first responders, along with all the innocent men and women who were victims of this tragedy simply because their work or service brought them here on September 11th, 2001."

Before getting into things, I'd like to mention first that I will try and maintain at least 1 post per day. I suggest you subscribe in the RSS to keep updated and of course, vote for me at the bottom ;-)Now let's get this started * Cracks knuckles *The big news this weekend all over the tube was the Pope's visit to N.Y.C. Everything seemed to go smoothly as far as traveling and visits, which is always good. I'm not a cynic but this is NYC with a highly known figure in a time where this particular government has everyone fearing for their lives about every little thing. It seems that there were mixed reviews on his arrival. Some saying that it is a great thing, others wondering, why now? Personally, I look at it as a mixed blessing in this sense: In the time we are in ( Labeling Muslims as terrorists, claiming Iran is building a nuclear bomb to bomb everyone, etc. ) that we would have the Pope to rise and say " Everything will be ok because I say so. "Why would I see it this way? Si

The pontiff’s six-day visit to the United States was his first At a time when the United States is engaged in a series of candid, and sometimes explosive, discussions about race, Pope Benedict XVI reminded America that it has a ways to go before honoring its promise to Blacks and Native Americans. “Americans have always been a people of hope,” Benedict said during the celebration of Mass Thursday at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. “Your ancestors came to this co

Pope's visit to Ground Zero finally confirms: The site is sacred
    2008-04-20 12:39:00
The Canessa CornerFor many years, much of the sacred ground that is Ground Zero has remained an empty tomb, a stark and shocking reminder of the terrorism that struck our nation on Sept. 11, 2001. It has become a place of construction, where in a few years, new buildings will rise and show the truest American spirit that despite the horrors of that day, life can and must go on.And yet, somehow, strikingly yet again, there is still no memorial, no true reminder of the horrors of Sept. 11, 2001. Sure, the names of the victims don the outskirts of the property. But there is no true tribute yet to the victims. There is no memorial to the firefighters, police officers, EMS personnel, the real heroes of that awful day. There is nothing. Nothing. And yet, that all changed in a spiritual instant this morning, when Pope Benedict XVI arrived on the sacred ground, greeted victims, their families, survivors. It became what has to be the most emotional portion of the holy father’s visit to New Yo

Pope Benedict XVI Visits Ground Zero
    2008-04-20 10:20:00
It was incredibly moving to see Pope Benedict XVI visiting Ground Zero this morning. He was there to offer prayers for the 9/11 victims, and comfort those people who were there to meet him and represent the victims. There was a lottery for 24 spots to meet the Holy Father. I put in for it but wasn't chosen. Among those who were there were the victims' loved ones, first responders and survivors of the World Trade Center attack. The Pope had requested just a small group there to take part, and that was the right thing to do.The Holy Father came down the ramp in the Popemobile, and then made his way on foot with Cardinal Egan of New York. He then knelt in prayer and after a few moments lit a candle for the victims. He said a prayer for them, which was very simple and moving. At the same time, somber music played in background by a single cellist, and it brought back incredibly vivid memories for me of the times I have been at the September 11 remembrances. Then each person met the Pope, wh

Roman Catholics in US more in tune with Pope than Rome!
    2008-04-15 11:21:09
The Washington Post and ABC News have commissioned a poll of Roman Catholic thinking in the USA. The poll is perceived as showing that nearly half those respondents consider the Pope and the Church out of touch with their views. It then goes on to give percentages and information about views given. The 45% who think the Church should bend with the wind are in favour, or don't mind, women as priests. They also want other things, which are not identified as such. But the poll says that Pope Benedict is a forceful advocate for traditionalism, including returning prayers, vestments and music from earlier eras to church services. This would suggest that some priests are conducting services in garb somewhat different from vestments, are making up extemporary prose, and plucking their guitars. Not being a Roman Catholic in America, I can only guess!I fear the tragedy of clerical abuse has clouded some of the responses. However, it is hard to see that this is representative on such a small samp

Pope Benedict XVI comes to America
    2008-04-13 16:20:45
Well, we're just a few days away from Pope Benedict XVI's first trip to the US. You can follow the details of the Pope's trip here, on the Vatican websites. The site includes the transcript of a special video message from the Pope to Americans before his trip. This trip provides you with a great opportunity to see the Pope (in person if you live in Washington or New York City) and to teach your family more about the Pope's message of God to our world. I imagine he'll point out some of the big moral issues this country is facing and really push the salvation of Christ to a fallen world. Take this chance to watch the Pope's talks, since they will be specifically directed at our country. I'll keep posting updates during the trip. God bless, Jay

    Pope to Vikings

One of the last players from the Wannstedt era last season was Derrick Pope. An undersized OLB from Alabama, I immediately liked the pick and loved the kid's enthusiasm. Him an Tony Bua really got after people. However, Pope never really amounted to anything more than a serviceable backup. There was absolutely no chance he was going to be on this roster because he doesn't fit Parcells' scheme.Fortunately for Derrick, the Vikings saw some value in him and signed him to a 1 year deal. Good luck to him.

    Really funny jokes-Pope
    2008-02-08 01:53:40
The Pope is visiting town and all the residents are dressed up in their best Sunday clothes. Everyone lines up on main street hoping for a personal blessing from the Pope. One local man has put on his best suit and he's sure the Pope will stop and talk to him. He is standing next to an exceptionally down-trodden looking bum who doesn't smell very good. As the Pope comes walking by he leans over and says something to the bum and then walks right by the local man. He can't believe it, then it hits him. The pope won't talk to him, he's concerned for the unfortunate people the poor and feeble ones. Thinking fast, he gives the bum $20 to trade clothes with him. He puts on the bums clothing and runs down the street to line up for another chance for the pope to stop and talk to him.Sure enough, the Pope walks right up to him this time, leans over close and says"I thought I told you to get the hell out of here!"

The Pope And The Media: Praises And Slams
    2008-01-26 13:16:00
I found this on NewsMax.com the other day to be rather interesting as it covers both ends of the spectrum even though the title itself "Pope Slams Unethical Media," portrays only one side of the article. According to the text, this last Thursday, Pope Benedict XVI "PRAISED the mass media for helping to spread democracy and knowledge around the world, but lamented that it also tended to hype violence, vulgarity and consumer products." Not to mention the particular slant that it seems to have adopted since the mid to late 60's. Something that regular readers of my blog have noticed I harp on quite a bit.He, The Pope, brings up an very interesting angle though in the article. Benedict "suggested there might be a need for an 'info-ethics' field in the media, just as there is a bioethics field in medicine and science, to guarantee that human dignity is respected." That's a very enticing idea. Which means that in no way would the media ever submit to it. I suspect it would be hounded with ca

Speech of pope Urban II at Clermont 1095 (Account of Fulcher of Chartres)

Krey, "The First Crusade: The Accounts of Eyewitnesses and Participants" "Let hatred therefore depart from among you, let your quarrels end, let wars cease, and let all dissensions and controversies slumber. Enter upon the road to the Holy Sepulcher-, wrest that land from the wicked race, and subject it to yourselves. That land which, as the Scripture says, `floweth with milk and honey' was given by God into the power of the children of Israel. Jerusalem is the center of the earth ; the land is fruitful above all others, like another paradise of delights. This spot the Redeemer of mankind has made illustrious by his advent, has beautified by his sojourn, has consecrated by his passion, has redeemed by his death, has glorified by his burial. "This royal city, however, situated at the center of the earth, is now held captive by the enemies of Christ and is subjected, by those who do not know God, to the worship the heathen. Speech of pope Urban II at Clermont 1095 (Account of Robert the Monk)
    2008-01-23 05:28:00
Krey, "The First Crusade: The Accounts of Eyewitnesses and Participants"In the year of our Lord's Incarnation one thousand and ninety-five, a great council was celebrated within the bounds of Gaul, in Auvergne, in the city which is called Clermont. Over this Pope Urban II presided, with the Roman bishops and cardinals. This council was a famous one on account of the concourse of both French and German bishops, and of princes as well. Having arranged the matters relating to the Church, the lord pope went forth into a certain spacious plain, for no building was large enough to hold all the people. The pope-then, with sweet and persuasive eloquence, addressed those present in words something like the following, saying: "Oh, race of Franks, race from across the mountains, race beloved and chosen by God, - as is clear from many of your works,- set apart from all other nations by the situation of your country as well as by your Catholic faith and the honor which you render to the holy Ch

    The Pope comes to dinner.
    2008-01-13 14:25:00
January 14 ... Over a thousand people, including Queen Christina of Sweden attended a banquet give for Pope Innocent XI in Rome on this day in 1687. Mine host was His Excellency the Earl of Castelmaine, English Ambassador to Rome, and he put on a fine spread indeed – so fine that the feast remained set out “for two whole days, (according to the Roman way) that everyone's curiosity might have some share in the Entertainment”. The event was recorded by the Ambassador’s steward, John Michael Wright, and he left some details about the food. “This large table, having (as is said) these adornments in the middle, had between them, and the napkins, (which were also most artificially folded) two rows of Assiets, or Intermesses, on either side, fill'd with all sorts of relishing bits, whether salt, sweet or soure; as Pickles, Butter, slices of delicate Bacon, Bologna-Sausiges, Taratufoli, Composts, &c., all which, stood in the abovesaid order, for two whole days, (according to the Roman way) that everyone's curiosity might have some share in the Entertainment." The art of napkin-folding had impressed Samuel Pepys a few decades earlier, so it seems that it was a relatively new fashion in England. The ‘adornments’ were the incredibly elaborate food ‘sculptures’ – like the medieval subtelties or illusion foods that were not necessarily eaten but served as messages of propaganda or symbols of religious devotion, or simply – as in this case – to impress the guests with the wealth and status of the host. These ‘adornments’ were given to eminent ladies to take home – so no doubt they did second duty in eminent homes as symbols of rank and influence. Mr. Wright’s inclusion of ‘composts’ in his list seems a little old-fashioned for the time. It was already an old word to describe a ‘composition’ or combination of ingredients – as in the modern use of the word to describe a mix of garden refuse in the process

Pope to Convert, Join Southern Baptists - Vatican "Dumbfounded"
    2007-12-31 16:32:00
CWT-Vatican City. Cats with Thumbs Italian station reports Pope Benedict XVI will announce his resignation from the papacy and conversion to the Southern Baptist religion - sources inside the Vatican say Pope Benedict will make a public resignation Wednesday during the scheduled 10:00AM Papal Audience at St. Peter's square. The Vatican press office would neither confirm nor deny the report when asked for an explanation by CWT reporters - several Cardinals, speaking on condition their names be withheld, said they were " shocked, dismayed, and, dumbfounded " at the news. " We just put that whole 'priests and child abuse mess' behind us, and now this," lamented one distraught bishop, " I mean, Jesus, Mary, and Joseph; it's one thing after another!"CWT sources at the Vatican could give no definitive reason for Pope Benedict's decision. Pope warns of 'dark shadows' on humanity
    2007-12-13 02:12:17
Pope Benedict XVI said divisions and conflicts "cast dark shadows" on the future of humanity, warning of the danger coming from more countries possessing nuclear weapons. He urged authorities to step up negotiations for a "progressive and mutually agreed dismantling of existing nuclear weapons." "Humanity today is unfortunately experiencing great division and sharp conflicts which cast dark shadows on its future," Benedict said in his annual message to world leaders for the Roman Catholic Church's World Day of Peace on Jan. 1. He said "the danger of an increase in the number of countries possessing nuclear weapons causes well-founded apprehension in every responsible person." He did not name specific countries, although he lamented civil wars in Africa and said the Middle East "is still a theater of conflict and violence" affecting neighboring nations and regions.Cardinal Renato Martino, who presented the pope's message at a new

Do ya wanta? Sometimes watching Tucker Carlson’s self-titled pundit program on MSNBC isn’t completely painful. Tonight’s illuminating moment came when Carlson spoke with Amy Argetsinger and Roxanne Roberts of The Reliable Source about Pope Benedict XVI’s upcoming April visit to Washington D.C.; the first papal visit to the capitol since 1979. With their gleaming smiles Argetsinger and [...]

The Infallible Pope Benedict Releases Bigoted Encyclical Vilifying Atheism
    2007-12-04 01:47:48
Kelly O’ConnorThe Catholic Church has officially ended their campaign to improve the public image of the Church with the latest papal encyclical, Spe Salvi, which means “saved by hope” for the Latin fans out there. The Catholic Church’s history is littered with crimes against humanity, and Pope Benedict XVI seems to desire the return to pre-Vatican II Catholicism. This was a concern voiced by many at the time that the former Joseph Ratzinger* was canonized to this position. The former pope, John Paul II, had made great strides in the modernization of the Church, and many were reluctant to elect somebody who would reverse that trend. Despite John Paul’s dogmatic adherence to the sexual proscriptions of Catholicism, he at least officially accepted evolution, admitted Protestants into heaven, and eliminated limbo. (Where was that place anyway? I may have been there once…) Pope Benedict is turning out exactly as predicted. The attempt to correlate atheism with violence, hatred, and genocide is the faithful fall-back argument for theists looking for a scapegoat. As in many other situations, their best defense for their beliefs and the resulting atrocities throughout history is something like, “Atheists did it, too! Just look at Hitler, Stalin, and Pol Pot. You’re just like us!” Well, I beg to differ. Those three well-worn examples did not commit those crimes because of their lack of god-belief. That is where the fundamental difference lies. The communist regimes wanted to eradicate religious belief so that the sole allegiance of the populace would be to the government. It was not driven by an atheistic agenda per se, but rather a power struggle with the religious ideologues who would seek to thwart their dominance over the people. Regardless of what those particular despots may have done, though, Ratzinger’s claim that atheism is the cause of the “greatest forms of cruelty and violations of justice” in history falls flat on its face when one thumbs

Pope: atheists burn in hell, modern Christians you too!
    2007-11-30 09:30:00
Pope Benedict strongly criticized modern-day atheism in a major document released Friday, saying it had led to some of the "greatest forms of cruelty and violations of justice" ever known. In his second encyclical, Benedict also critically questioned modern Christianity, saying its focus on individual salvation had ignored Jesus' message that true Christian hope involves salvation for all.

    Pope leads environment festival
    2007-09-02 16:42:00
Pope Benedict XVI participated in the eco-friendly festival on the day designated by the Vatican as "Save Creation Day". The leader of the Catholic community called for decisive action to halt damage to the environment and urged the preservation of natural resources such as water. In his homily, he said: "Before it is too late, we need to make courageous choices that will recreate a strong alliance between man and Earth.""We need a decisive 'yes' to care for creation and a strong commitment to reverse those trends that risk making the situation of decay irreversible," he added.

Pope Benedict XVI Backs Adult Stem Cell Research
    2007-06-29 13:40:00
Pope Benedict XVI has endorsed adult stem cell research, distinguishing it from the manipulation of stem cells from human embryos, which the Roman Catholic Church condemns.Speaking at the end of his weekly general audience, the Roman Catholic leader saluted delegates at a global conference on the use of adult stem cells to treat cardiac problems, organised by La Spaienza University in Rome."On this matter the position of the Church, supported by reason and by science, is clear," he said."Scientific research must be encouraged and promoted, so long as it does not harm other human beings, whose dignity is inviolable from the very first stages of existence."The Roman Catholic Church believes that an embryo is wholly a human being. For that reason, it condemns abortion and genetic manipulation such as research on embryonic stem cells.Unlike embryonic stem cells, or primitive cells from early-stage embryos capable of developing into almost every tissue of the body, adult stem cells divide t

    Tha Pope’a Says!
    2007-06-19 16:05:34
The Vatican must have found a burning bush over the weekend, because they have come down with a new set of commandments, the Motorists’ 10 Commandments! God be praised, maybe now people wont be complete knobs on the roadways… well, they’ll still be knobs, but they will BURN IN HELL FOR ETERNITY for it now! The NEW 10 commandments: 1. You shall not kill. 2. The road shall be for you a means of communion between people and not of mortal harm. 3. Courtesy, uprightness and prudence will help you deal with unforeseen events. 4. Be charitable and help your neighbor in need, especially victims of accidents. 5. Cars shall not be for you an expression of power and domination, and an occasion of sin. 6. Charitably convince the young and not so young not to drive when they are not in a fitting condition to do so. 7. Support the families of accident victims. 8. Bring guilty motorists and their victims together, at the appropriate time, so that they can undergo the liberating e

Pope Refuses to Endorse ID"Pope Benedict's remarks were published this week in Germany in the book Schoepfung und Evolution (Creation and Evolution). He praised scientific progress and did not endorse creationist or "intelligent design" views about life's origins."Flaws in Intelligent DesignGuardian.co.uk“Dozens of schools are using creationist teaching materials (circulated by the Discovery Institute, Seattle, Washington, USA)which have been condemned by the government as "not appropriate to support the science curriculum".Guardian-Who are Truth In Science?Truth in Science is lying on its web site. It is trying to convince the public and educators that the issue it wants taught in schools is “Intelligent Design”. This is a scam to cover its real intentions which are the same as the Discovery Institute in the USA – to get its fundamentalist religion into science classrooms. He is Risen! A meditation by Pope John Paul the Great
    2007-04-08 15:54:16
Celebrate! Jesus Christ has risen from the dead. From Pope John Paul II: [I]t is clearly evident that Christ's resurrection is the greatest event in the history of salvation, and indeed, we can say in the history of humanity, since it gives definitive meaning to the world. The whole world revolves around the cross, but only in the resurrection does the cross reach its full significance of salvific event. The cross and resurrection constitute the one pascal mystery in which the history of the world is centered. Therefore Easter is the Church's greatest solemnity. Every year she celebrates and renews this event. It is fraught with all the prophecies of the Old Testament, beginning with the "protoevangelium" of the redemption, and of all the eschatological hopes and expectations projected toward the "fullness of time," which was realized when the kingdom of God definitively entered human history and the universal order of salvation. - - General audience of March 1, 1989 We can't eve
