SEO Portsmouth - Variations in Local Keywords
    2008-08-21 05:17:04
When you perform searches in sophisticated search engines such as Google, you would think that similar queries would yield similar results... but this is not the case at all.  Plural forms are wildly different from their singular forms and simply changing the order of two terms can have a dramatic effect.  For example, our own site ranks well for "Portsmouth SEO" but does not for "SEO Portsmouth".  The strange thing about this is that you would think that two nouns used together could be swapped around without too much impact to the searchers intent... its almost more of a preference than any sort of prioritisation.  To me, there is no difference between these two phases - "Portsmouth Boats" and "Boats Portsmouth"... but the results are clearly different. This is an important point to keep in mind when you are implementing Local SEO.  You need to ensure that your content matches variations of your localised terms more ...

    Manchester United 2 - Portsmouth 1
    2008-07-29 02:44:00
Manchester United continued their positive runs in their pre-season friendlies. Against Portsmouth at the Abuja National Stadium in Lagos, Nigeria, Manchester United manage to beat their FA Community Shield opponent by 2 goals to 1. Chris Eagles scored first on the 51st minute followed by a Carlos Tevez goal on the 61st minute. Portsmouth managed to score a consolation through Jermain Defor at the 90th minute. Only half of the 60.000 capacity stadium is filled by audiences, but nevertheless, the Nigerian fans managed to make an exciting atmosphere throughout the match. Even without Wayne Rooney, Manchester United still manage to dominate the game. On the 5th minute, Manchester United was rewarded by a penalty. Carlos Tevez had to re-take his kick and on the second attempt he hit the bar. On the 24th minute, Frazier Campbell had another golden chance for Manchester United, but again David James is up to the rescue. James again saved Portsmouth from being a goal down again by saving anot...

Match Review: Manchester United 2-0 Portsmouth
    2008-01-30 23:42:51
There is no need for great analysis. By any conceivable metric Manchester United were the superior side today. Outclassing Pompey from the start, Christiano Ronaldo and Manchester United sealed the victory after only 13 minutes of play and the remaining 77 minutes were a mere formality. One could analyze the minutes that [...]...

THE Match Report: Portsmouth 0 - 1 Charlton
    2007-01-20 18:55:00
Date: Saturday October 22nd 2005Venue: Fratton ParkOpponents: PortsmouthScore: PFC 1 - 2 CAFCThat was the last time we won on our travels, 15 long months ago. Today, we ended that dreadful record and beat Portsmouth 1-0, at the same ground we recorded our last away win so long ago.It seemed like a dreadully boring match, but from 5Live's commentary, it sounded as if Charlton were on top for most of the match. When I checked at half time and it was still 0-0 I was pleased. I never thought we would go on to win the damn thing! It all happened with just over 10 minutes to go, former Pompey favourite Amady Faye popped up and scored. And what a goal that proved to be, we managed to hang on and clinch the victory. What a way to lift the spirits of the team and the fans. We deserved this. We needed this.James- Staff Writer ...
