The news article examines NASA's search for extraterrestrial life:NASA's Phoenix spacecraft could soon find out. Since plopping down near the Martian north pole a month ago, the three-legged lander has been busy poking its long arm into the sticky soil and collecting scoopfuls to bake in a test oven and peer at under a microscope."We are looking for the basic ingredients that would allow life to prosper in this environment," chief scientist Peter Smith of the University of Arizona in Tucson has said in describing the mission's goal. The discovery of extreme life forms, known as extremophiles, in unexpected nooks and crannies of the Earth in recent years has helped inform scienti

Money Laundering Laws: The Practical versus the Technical
    2008-06-16 20:02:44
On June 2, 2008, the U.S. Supreme Court (Court) narrowed the focus of federal money laundering laws by ruling against the government in two money laundering cases. In pursuing these and most cases, law enforcement and prosecutors regularly employ a broad and practical interpretation of the money laundering laws. In its rulings, the Court adopted a narrow and technical interpretation of the money laundering laws. The question at hand is what was the intent when Congress passed money laundering legislation,...(read more)

    Stock Investing: Practical Tips
    2008-06-14 00:00:17
Investments falling through cracks are not new to anyone. The reasons may be anything from lack of knowledge to miscalculated research and from wrong strategy to unexpected moves. However, the tips enlisted may help you wave a path better than ever before.• Determine the objectives in advance: determining objectives include the type of the investor and the investments accordingly. Daily financial objectives are an absolute ‘no’ for any investor. Catching up daily objectives not only tend to loose on opportunities for better long term investments but also it does not give an investor to experiment with changing moves of the market. Hence, setting the monthly objectives is absolutely a better option for any investor.• Finalize the strategies of work: each type of investment has its own strategy to be followed. By the combination of investments to be devised, various strategies must be decided in advance. Also make sure that before investing you have enough time to achieve the com

Ten years ago I decided to take a more scientific investigation into the concept of luck. Car Practical test Explained
    2008-06-04 01:19:00
Your driving test will start with an eyesight check and some vehicle safety questions. You will then start your Car practical driving test which will include some specific manoeuvres. The driving part of your test will last about 40 minutes. Throughout the test your examiner will be looking for an overall safe standard of driving, including when you are carrying out the set exercises. You can make up to 15 driving faults and still pass the test (16 or more results in failure). However, if you commit one serious or dangerous fault you will fail the test. The practical driving test (car) The Driving Standards Agency (DSA) is now able to offer tests outside the normal test times at a number of test centres. This provides customers a wider range of appointments over an extended working day. Car Practical tests are generally available at all permanent test centres. 308 SW: Welcoming and practical for improved driving enjoyment
    2008-05-15 04:09:10
Just a few months after the launch of the new 308 hatchback into the medium car segment, Peugeot now presents the SW version. The 308 SW was fi rst unveiled in the form of a concept car at last year’s Frankfurt Motor Show. It builds further on the appeal of the 307 SW and estate versions, whose attractive and innovative packaging has won over the hearts of nearly 900,000 customers in the six years since they fi rst appeared on the market. The 307 SW is a unique and original concept which combines a number of strengths such as driving enjoyment, onboard comfort and convenience, comprehensive equipment levels and good load carrying abilities. Since its launch it has been very well received by the car buying public. It has been especially successful with individuals who for practical reasons, found that a hatchback vehicle lacked a certain something and were uninspired by the design of M1 segment MPVs. A public who also required space and practicality for their leisure activities, inter

ElectroStatic Discharge PRACTICAL ANALOG SEMICONDUCTOR CIRCUITS
    2008-05-08 06:25:10
Volume I chapter 1.1 discusses static electricity, and how it is created. This has a lot more significance than might be first assumed, as control of static electricity plays a large part in modern electronics and other professions. An ElectroStatic Discharge event is when a static charge is bled off in an uncontrolled fashion, and will be referred to as ESD hereafter. ESD comes in many forms, it can be as small as 50 volts of electricity being equalized up to many millions of volts. The actual power is extremely small, so small that no danger is generally offered to someone who is in the discharge path of ESD. It usually takes several thousand volts for a person to even notice ESD in the form of a spark and the familiar zap that accompanies it. The problem with ESD is even a small discharge that can go completely unnoticed can ruin semiconductors. A static charge of millions of volts is common, however the reason it is not a threat is there is no current capacity behind it. These

Computational circuits PRACTICAL ANALOG SEMICONDUCTOR CIRCUITS
    2008-05-08 06:22:57
When someone mentions the word "computer," a digital device is what usually comes to mind. Digital circuits represent numerical quantities in binary format: patterns of 1's and 0's represented by a multitude of transistor circuits operating in saturated or cutoff states. However, analog circuitry may also be used to represent numerical quantities and perform mathematical calculations, by using variable voltage signals instead of discrete on/off states. Here is a simple example of binary (digital) representation versus analog representation of the number "twenty-five:" Digital circuits are very different from circuits built on analog principles. Digital computational circuits can be incredibly complex, and calculations must often be performed in sequential "steps" to obtain a final answer, much as a human being would perform arithmetical calculations in steps with pencil and paper. Analog computational circuits, on the other hand, are quite simple in comparison, and

A Practical Approach To Healthy Eating
    2008-05-07 21:25:21
You will never be healthy, eating healthy foods occasionally. You have to make healthy eating a habit if you want to obtain nutritional health.I have been doing push-ups five days a week for over 25 years. My arms are pretty strong but it did not happen overnight. I did not do push-ups for a couple weeks or months and then stopped. I had to make push-ups a habit if I wanted to continuously get the results I have. Exactly the same holds true with having a healthy diet.People jump on the "band wagon" of healthy eating when they read books or view web sites that talk about nutrition. While many of these books and web sites tell you what you should eat in-order to be healthy, they fail to teach you how to make healthy eating a habit. Thus in a short period of time when temptations come, people fall right back into their unhealthy eating habits. What is a Habit? According to Webster's dictionary a habit is "a behavior pattern acquired by frequent repetition or physiologic exposure that shows

Five Practical Moves to Help You Outrun Inflation
    2008-03-05 11:34:00
by Jennifer Openshaw Rising health-care and education costs have topped the headlines for years. We're getting used to paying more at the pump. But recent figures show rising prices hitting closer to home. Higher commodity costs are driving prices for food, clothing and other basic necessities.Sure, we've gotten our breaks. Electronics have been getting cheaper for years. The China effect has held prices steady for lots of manufactured goods, including clothing. And the housing market -- well, you could say that housing is getting cheaper, but that only helps those lucky few in the market today.Inflation happens slowly -- an increase here, and increase there, and suddenly your finances fall behind the curve. If you spend $50,000 a year excluding housing payments, a 4% annual inflation rate suggests your expenses will rise by some $2,000.Your income may keep up, but it's hard to count on that. I say it's time to aim high -- to figure out how to save at least $1,000 this year. Not

A practical method to teach your kid about the value of money
    2008-03-02 10:34:00
There is a proverb “Childhood habits remain till graveyard”. If a kid learned good habits at her childhood, she will hold the same till the end on life. Why I am saying is, teaching money management to your kid should start early as possible. As soon as she starts identifying the world one by one, give her chance to learn about money and money management. This will be with her wherever she goes. Try the following steps. The very beginning step is developing a savings habit to her. To do this, present her a piggy bank when she is in the age of two or three. Give her coins everyday to deposit into her piggy bank. You can see the wonder by test her savings habit by keeping some coins to a place where her attention is getting. I am sure, once if she saw the coins, it will certainly go to her piggy account. Later. you can open a minor savings account for her and put the money whenever the piggy account fills. If she is in the age of six or seven, you can present the pass book to her.

Here are some dining space tips which can help:- Because the guest space and dining space are in the same space, the approach for guest space is brought into the dining space, which is the use of bright wall color and white ceiling.- To differentiate between dining space and guest space, you can lay carpet or mat as an effort to make the space looks more prominent.- Dining space does not require excessive accessories. Practical considerations of ADC circuits
    2008-01-10 01:19:18
Perhaps the most important consideration of an ADC is its resolution. Resolution is the number of binary bits output by the converter. Because ADC circuits take in an analog signal, which is continuously variable, and resolve it into one of many discrete steps, it is important to know how many of these steps there are in total. For example, an ADC with a 10-bit output can represent up to 1024 (210) unique conditions of signal measurement. Over the range of measurement from 0% to 100%, there will be exactly 1024 unique binary numbers output by the converter (from 0000000000 to 1111111111, inclusive). An 11-bit ADC will have twice as many states to its output (2048, or 211), representing twice as many unique conditions of signal measurement between 0% and 100%. Resolution is very important in data acquisition systems (circuits designed to interpret and record physical measurements in electronic form). Suppose we were measuring the height of water in a 40-foot tall storage tank usi

    Some practical information about Insurance
    2008-01-08 14:26:00
They are practical, rather than money. And what advantages? Well, even if the care in the world a safer place and the driver, that you really need auto insurance. Going without it is irresponsible, dangerous, and it is against the law. Every province in Canada have enacted laws on automobile insurance, and sanctions for those who are not is not a joke. You can join a fine costly damage to your car, lose your driver's license, you get your car, even confiscation or get arrested for driving without insurance. Coupled with other offences such as speeding or execution of a judgement of character is even worse. In addition, the assurance of your car has never been easier. There are dozens of Internet sites devoted to helping you find out what kind of insurance is best for you. Many sites are even quotations from several companies to help in determining which is best for you. With the Internet it is possible, good insurance, and open it in less than an hour. As you cautious and vigilant loves every second they spend behind the wheel, you are at the mercy of other drivers. Tens of thousands of automobile accidents every day. If you have something as insignificant as fender-bender ertappt and without insurance, you are in a very difficult situation and costly. It is not speed, run stop characters and red traffic lights, illegal parking, driving without a seat belt or illegal turns. You have nothing to fear, is it not? False. Even if your driving is excellent, in addition, you are on the path to others, which leads to the wrong decisions. Maybe they are misappropriated, intoxicated, tired of speaking with a mobile phone or simply lightly. Maybe they forget to check his mirrors, the road before proceeding to ignore or to use their signals again. If you have an older version of the low-cost, the car, it might be the best option for you. Or we could consider your deductible. Their deductible is the amount you have to pay when you are in an accident. If you raise this money

The Urban Treasure Hunter: A Practical Handbook for Beginners
    2007-12-27 17:10:53
From Publishers WeeklyTompkins Square Park, in New York City's East Village, has produced coin recoveries dating back to the 1830s. A construction site in Philadelphia recently yielded ceramic perfume containers and embossed pipe bowls from the 1860s. "Urban treasure hunter" Chaplan explains how to find, unearth and identify valuable artifacts like these in this how-to manual. He provides information on dealing with curious onlookers and fitting into a neighborhood (in "upscale" areas, dress like a jogger; in "tough areas," wear camouflage items and worn jeans), covers legal issues, provides a surprisingly scholarly and in-depth lesson in archeology and details how and where to search for and clean old coins, bottles and historical and prehistoric artifacts (he also gives tips on how to cash in on this hobby). Chaplan peppers his text with quotations from fictional and real adventurers, from Sherlock Holmes to Rudyard Kipling, and includes do-it-yourself instructions for building a sifter and even setting up an electrolysis device for cleaning unearthed metal objects. Chaplan's enthusiasm enlivens the extensive, solid factual information, and although his comparison of urban treasure hunters to history's swashbuckling explorers is a bit exaggerated, stories of his own hunting experiences in the greater New York area, as well as tales of discoveries of booty in unexpected places, prove his point that adventures and buried treasure are closer to home than most would expect. Practical Tips to Maintain Sexual Virility
    2007-12-19 19:12:00
Nowadays, the popular maxim "Health is wealth" has taken on a truly genuine meaning as more and more people get to suffer from various forms of diseases that ages ago were practically unheard of. Many of these diseases are life-threatening while some pose serious dangers to one's overall well-being. Either way, this has led a lot of people to become more cautious of what they eat or drink, as many of these can very well affect their overall health. There can be no doubt that sex plays a significant role in making a relationship work. What many people are not aware of is that sex also has a direct connection to the overall health of a person and vice versa. Research shows that when one is overweight, for example, sex drive can be severely affected, and for overweight people currently in a relationship, this can have serious impact. Nevertheless, one need not really worry, as there are some tried and tested techniques that one can make use of to keep fit, at least from a sexual sta

3 Practical Models To Quickly Earn and Maximize Google Adsense
    2007-12-18 01:56:00
Looking back in time, I could still remember standing in awe and reading the exploits of one adsense publisher who was starting a membership service for people keen to maximise their earnings as a google adsense publisher. He claimed to be making over $40K a month from his google adsense revenue and an almost equal amount from affiliate products. In my mind,I could not help but believe that if he could be so successful, I could also be successful...and everyone can also be equally successful in developing content websites and allowing google adsense to be published on these websites.Months followed later where I carried out research on Google Adsense, talked to people who were successful publishers, joined a couple of memberships sites myself, read a few ebooks on the subject, spent hundreds of dollars on tools and webpage generating software...the whole works. My aim was simple - uncover the successful methods and make at least one of these techniques as mine and be equally successful , if not better. What were my results? Briefly, there were 3 models that could lead to success. There might be more, but these 3 models figured prominently as I carried out my personal private research. The Content Model ----------------------------------In the content model, a mini site is developed for a niche project. Generally, you would find the keywords for niche topics with a low R/S value, build a theme around these keywords and work out a mini website of around 20 to 50 pages. The key to such a website is written content. In many cases, I found reprint rights articles were also used and these were also sites that were successful in bringing in consistent traffic and revenue. Each page is normally written around just one keyword and the entire webpage is tightly SEOed (search engine optimized).THE SINGLE-PAGE MODEL --------------------------------------In the second model, a one page article forms the website with google adsense on that article. In order to feature prominently, web

    Practical Implications
    2007-10-29 11:25:22
If you accept the fact that there are no gods, then you will also have to face the fact that it doesn't matter what a person believes in: the only thing that matters is what this person does (or doesn't) as a result of his or her belief. All that matters are the tangible results, that is, the practical implications of the belief. What matters are actions, results, and effects; but the belief itself—well, who needs to care about that, except the believers?Sure, there are very good reasons to investigate beliefs, which are used to justify atrocities all over the world. But it's the atrocities, not the beliefs, that are the cause of concern. If the beliefs implied no harm or good, would you bother to care?

Buddhist economics theory – A practical approach
    2007-10-27 10:52:01
The popular definition of western economics is “The science that analyzes the behavior of man trying to fulfill his unlimited desires using limited resources.”By simply analyzing the definition itself, one could understand that this so called ‘Economics’ is mere a futile effort. How in this world, one find a way to satisfy unlimited desires using limited resources. As long as resources are limited (a fact), you can not met with unlimited desires of even a single person, and not to mention on trying to meet desires of all the people. It is just an attempt to find a solution for a problem which they accept by definition as non feasible problem to resolve. If one still remembers his college algebra, this is just like a futile attempt to find real roots of a square equation of which no real roots available. (i.e ax2 + bx + c = 0 where b2-4ac is less than zero) The mathematicians proved that this type of equations can not have real roots (solutions) and they come up with different s

Now while there may be great joy in plunging into the unknown, some cities are better enjoyed with some basic information already stored in your head! Fez is such a city.If you are going to visit Fez in the future it pays as our first group of tourists did, to study up. The quality of their time in Fez was enhanced by already having basic tourist information about currency, drinking water, the geography, climate and history. Practical Example of Using Virtual Functions II

From the past few articles we have been discussing about Virtual Functions. Before taking up another topic for discussion I thought of providing one more example of how and when virtual functions may be used. So, here it is, a practical example of virtual function. As virtual functions and Run-Time Polymorphism goes hand-in-hand so the example here may also serve as an example of the use of run-time polymorphism. // Example to illustrate // the use of virtual functions // and run-time polymorphism #include <iostream.h> // -- SORT CLASS -- class sort { protected: int *arr; int num_elmnt; public: sort(int); ~sort(); void get_elmnt(); void show_elmnt(); virtual void do_sorting()=0; }; // takes an argument // which is the number of // elements we want sort::sort(int x) { num_elmnt=x; arr=new int[num_elmnt]; } sort::~sort() { // free up he allocated memory delete []arr; } void

In this article we are going to show you a very simple program that illustrates the practical use of virtual functions. Please read the code carefully! // Practical example of // when virtual functions are // used #include <iostream.h> class area { protected: int mag; double a; public: area(int x){mag=x;} double get_area(){return a;} // pure virtual function virtual void compute()=0; // it is made pure as // it couldn't have any meaningful // definition since area can only // be defined w.r.t something specific }; class circle_area : public area { public: circle_area(int x) : area(x){} // now that we are referring // to area w.r.t a circle so // it is natural that we define // it void compute() { a=(mag*mag)*3.14; } }; class square_area : public area { public: square_area(int x) : area(x){} // same for this! void compute() { a=mag*mag; } }; void main() { square_area sa(10); circle_area ca(20); sa.compute(); ca.compute(); cout<<"Area of square: "<<sa.get_area(); cout<<endl; cout<<"Area of cirlce: "<<ca.get_area(); } Related Articles: Pure Virtual Functions Properties of Virtual Functions Virtual Functions and Run-time Polymorphism Introduction to Virtual Functions Friend Functions of Class

Pagsakay mo ng eroplano, pray hard to God for a safe trip and easy NCLEX questions.

20 practical tips for web designer
    2007-08-01 01:12:00
The Difference between a good web designer and a great one is the ability to know how to take short cuts and save time without compromising the quality of work. Pixelsurgeon’s Jason Arber has put together 20 top tips and tricks you should be using to give your work that all-important professional edge1. PlanningWhen you’re itching to get started, it’s easy to overlook the most obvious step: planning. Whether it’s drawing wireframes and site diagrams in OmniGraffle or Visio, or even on a scrap of paper, you’ll save time by having an overview of your design at the site and page level before you start building. Obvious errors can be detected and solved before it’s too late to go back and it makes explaining your ideas to clients and colleagues a lot simpler than waving your hands in the air.2. Do it by handAlthough there are some excellent tools around for building web sites, such as Adobe GoLive and Adobe (formerly Macromedia) Dreamweaver, professional code monkeys prefer to code by hand. Are they crazy masochists? Quite possibly. There’s only one way to learn HTML, and that’s to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty with some actual code. But fear not: HTML has one of the easiest learning curves you’ll ever come across and you can create a basic web page with only a couple of lines. Writing code by hand also ensures that you write the leanest code possible, which is the ultimate aim of all HTML geeks.Don’t throw out that copy of GoLive or Dreamweaver just yet. Both applications have excellent code writing environments, and have useful features, such as collapsable blocks of code and split views so you can code and see the results at the same time. If you want to try the code-only route, then any text editor that can save in the basic .txt format should do, but Mac users might want to check out Bare Bones Software’s BBEdit, and Windows users should give the freeware AceHTML editor from Visicome Media a whirl.3. Out of the 78,000 nursing examinees who took the Nursing Board Exam June 2007, only around half will pass the NLE. The Department of Labor and Employment is formulating a new policy to allow the "flunkers" in the state-administered nursing licensure examinees last June to continue practicing their profession as "practical nurses."Labor Secretary Arturo Brion said that only about only about 40,000 of the 78,000 examinees -- including the re-takers of the leakage-marred 2006 exam -- to pass the test."We're anticipating that many of them (flunkers) will do re-take so we think that one fall-back position is to have them licensed as practical nurses. This is assuming that there are some who would not do the re-take," Brion explained to reporters.Brion also mentioned that the results of the June nursing board licensure exam would be released by middle of August.Practical nurse in the Philippines are High School graduate who undergo a 2-year vocational nursing courses so that they can work i

10 Quickfire Practical CSS Web Design Tips and Tricks
    2007-07-19 02:44:00
1 Universal Selector - This sets ALL html tags to have zero border and padding. You then build your css up from there:*{padding:0; margin:0; }2 Image Replacement is the process of using images instead of text yet still using semantic html code. Whilst image replacement is great for static sites, the SiFR method is better for dynamic sites. Sifr uses a mix of Javascript and Flash to produce the text in any font. Both are great methods of making your site and typography more attractive and “designed”.3 Comment tags are a great way of organising your CSS. Comments are inserted like /* Details about the Css are help within is very useful tag */They are very useful for breaking up sections of your CSS code. For instance you could have/* ...All link styles ...*/a:link, a:hover{ color:#f00; }a:visited{ color#000; }/*...Below is the left nav system section ...*/#nav{ clear:both: float:left; }Im sure you get the idea4 Structure of the file ( the order in which selectors come etc ). There are many methods of doing this but the way I work is generally from the top of the page to the bottom. So the top divs and everything within those divs such as list items progress down the page. I tend to put generic html tags such as the links and list items before the main stucture:*{padding:0; margin:0; }a:link, a:hover{ color:#f00; }a:visited{ color#000; }li{ padding:5px; }#nav {clear:both; float:left;}#content{ width: 550px; padding: 5px 15px;}..........….#footer{clear:both;}This method is logical and therefore you can find things easily.5 Shorthand:- This is a code saver and is quicker to type when you get used to it. Instead ofbackground-color:#f00;background-image:url(background.gif);background-repeat:no-repeat;background-attachment:fixed;background-position:0 0;You can have:background:#f00 url(background.gif) no-repeat fixed 0 0;Another quick shortcut is for colours “#f00″ is short for “#ff0000″.6 Centreing :- ( I’m from the UK) elements is very easy with CSS, simpl

    Practical Uses for GPS Technology
    2007-07-17 00:26:00
by: Jeremy MaddockSince the US Department of Defense established the worldwide Global Positioning System (GPS) network, it has been put to a very wide variety of uses by governments, corporations, organizations, and individuals alike. It has been put to good use for many years in its original, and most obvious, purpose of coordinating military operations. In fact, if it weren’t for GPS, many modern military operations and practices would simply not be possible. It is also frequently used in search-and-rescue missions as well as disaster relief efforts. In addition to this, GPS technology has proven to be instrumental in numerous scientific research expeditions, especially in very remote regions such as mountain ranges and the north and south poles. The other side of GPS functionality, which is sometimes forgotten, is the many uses it can be put to by individual consumers. Practical Tips For Healthy Weight Loss
    2007-07-01 14:08:00
Ever wish there was an easy-to-follow practical primer to tell you all the things you should and shouldn't do to help you lose weight? I'm not talking about food choices here - there are 'tons' of eating plans available. I'm referring to a simple list that you can follow in your everyday life to make it easier to stick to your diet. Here are a few tips that I've found works wonders to help avoid temptation and keep me on track.Shopping Tips1. Shop the outside grocery aisles.Supermarkets are designed with the four basic food groups around the perimeter of the store. If you stick to the outside aisles, you'll find produce, bakery, dairy and meat - exactly what you should be buying. Avoid going up and down the aisles where processed 'convenience' foods lurk to tempt you from your good intentions.2. Never ever shop hungry. It's an old tip, but it works every time. When you're hungry, everything looks good - especially quick, empty calories. Make it a point to shop on a full stomach and you'll find yourself saving both money and calories.3. Buy fresh, whole and organic whenever you can. Processing depletes vital nutrients and adds calories. If you have a choice, buy fresh vegetables and fruits and whole grain products. Skip the highly processed snack foods(twinkies and chips etc.)and 'convenience' dinners.Setting Goals1. Break your goals down if you have to. The thought of losing 100 pounds can be daunting. Instead, make it your goal to lose 10 pounds this month, or to get through the week without cheating on your diet. "Inch by inch life's a cinch; yard by yard it's hard."2. Set reasonable, attainable goals for yourself. Remember that a healthy, sustainable weight loss is about 1-2 pounds per week. Setting the goal to lose 30 pounds by next month is setting yourself up for failure. Don't be taken in by the infomercials and false advertisements! Everyone is different! Being content with your progress will help you attain your goals. Discontentment leads t

Practical Tips On Choosing The Right Perfume
    2007-06-20 13:41:11
Perfume is considered to be one of the most must-haves for any status-conscious person in any society. Initially, it was being used by the upper-class society as a high-end accessory; but, later it became available even to the most common person in the society. In the modern age, the use of perfume has become virtually indispensable as it potentially adds to the personality of a person. The history and background of perfume can be traced back to the ancient times of Egypt. The word `Perfume` has been coined by the combination of two Latin words such as `Per` (Through) and `Fume` (Smoke). The art of making perfumes took place in ancient Egypt but it was the Romans and the Arabs who improved it subsequently. There are many procedures being followed these days for making the modern perfumes but the most general process is extracting oils from flowers by distillation which was introduced by an Iranian doctor named Avicenna. Usually, the exact formulae of making perfumes and fragrances are k

There are too many people who go into a room/ networking event/social gathering, with the mindset of what can you do for me, and it is evident in there approach, that switches people off, and they loose that connection, where as if they had approached with the mind set of just making friends and developing relationships, things could be very different, have a read through the article and let me know what you think. Susan RoAne wrote the book on schmoozing. Literally: H

    Practical Horticultural work environment
    2007-05-18 07:00:00
Dna IndiaNeena Bhandari in Melbourne finds out the reasons that make Diploma in Horticulture a drawcard for the state's education sector. As the sunrays begin to penetrate through the morning mist, students assemble in the horticulture garden at Melbourne's Swinburne Institute of Technology. Its time for them to apply the knowledge and skills learnt in the classroom to a practical work environment. The two-year Diploma in Horticulture is becoming a niche course for Indian students. There are 55 students, mostly from Punjab, currently enrolled in the course. Ramandeep Singh had studied mechanical engineering in Mehr Chand Polytechnic in Punjab and had come to Melbourne to pursue advanced technology in mechanical engineering, but was lured into horticulture by his cousin...

    Practical and detailed Anti-Aging plan
    2007-05-15 08:36:00
Cellular senescence is the phenomenon where normal cells lose the ability to divide. This phenomenon is also known as the 'Hayflick phenomenon', or the Hayflick limit in honour of Dr. Leonard Hayflick who was the first to publish it in 1961. In response to DNA damage, including shortened telomeres, cells either senesce or self-destruct (apoptosis) if the damage cannot be repaired.Strategies for Engineered Negligible Senescence, (SENS, my own anti-aging plan) is a huge plan incorporating many different therapies to be applied simultaneously to people, thereby rejuvenating all organs at the cellular and molecular level. SENS is divided into seven main categories. It will need very good stem cell therapy and gene therapy technology, as well as probably big advances in tissue engineering. It will also need some very radical new technologies like finding bacterial enzymes that can degrade unusual compounds. Therefore, I think it will definitely not be available for humans for 20 years at

    Practical Witchcraft - On Reversals
    2007-05-08 04:27:00
כ" באייר תשס"זJacob Da Jew asked:If you do reversals of curses, who cursed them to begin with?I don't presume to know who cast a curse to begin with. It isn't important that I know and in some ways, it is better that I don't know.Reversals do not reverse upon specific people or groups via my intention. The reversal is built around reversing the curse no matter who cast it or when or how. In other words, neutralizing a curse is the focus as opposed to being focused on any curse-sender. For all I know, a curse may have Divinely originated. Thus, a reversed curse would return to the First Source, to be absorbed in It without any consequence to anyone particularly.Doing it the way I do it, allows for the Divine Mind to direct the reversed energy independent of where I might think the energy should go. I could be wrong regarding from where a curse originates. Consequently, I do not interject my own thinking about that when composing a reversal ritual. The Divine Mind decides. So

    Practical thoughts on Pitching
    2007-04-18 08:01:00
When you are raising funding for your start-up, you will have to make a pitch about your business proposal to a group of angel or VCs investors. This post is not meant to give you tips on the complete content and style of the presentation, there are plenty of published advice already and I have posted on a few times in the past as well, which will describe what key information is required,In summary though, your presentation should answer the following questions:• What are you going to sell?• Who will buy your product or service?• What is the potential market size? • What is the average selling price? • How are you going to sell it? • Who is your competition? • Who are the team members that will make all this happen?• What are the financial projections and exit possibilities for the lenders? You should not require more than 10 to 15 slides for this, three of which should purely focus on the financials projections for three years. First of all, you should mentally prepar

    Practical Tips for Garden Design
    2007-03-07 10:14:00
By Natalie ArandaA common mistake when planning a garden is not deciding on your garden's design before you begin planting. If you take into consideration all aspects of what you would like to see in your garden, then chances are the end result is going to be beautiful. If you are just starting out, it might be a good idea to talk to a professional gardener to get advice on how best to lay out your garden. Many gardeners are willing to do a consult with you and some will even do it for free. You will need to determine the location of your garden first, so that you will know the amount of light that your garden will receive. Plants, flowers and vegetables vary greatly in the amount of light that is required for them to succeed. If your garden is going to be in the shade, make sure that items you include in your garden are able to grow under these conditions.Perhaps the most important thing to do when you begin your garden design is to fence your garden in.Fencing your garden has several

    Best Informative/Practical Travel Blog
    2007-02-18 15:25:00
Best Informative/Practical Travel BlogThis award goes to a travel blog that provides news, commentary, advice, or general insight into the workings of travel. Unlike a destination blog, this blog is more practically minded.Over 50 comments were posted in this category, so let's see how informative and practical the nominations are.Posted in order of nomination.IAG - Aviation and Travel News: Well, we've got to start somewhere and lifting off with this one means that (hopefully) things can only get better. There's quite a few video clips to watch on here but whether they're 'informative and practical' is another matter. For an award-winning nomination to make it to the shortlist, I feel that a little more thought on presentation is needed here. The square grouping of 25 'feed icons' and an advertising slot, after every post, are a little excessive; especially if you're reading the front page's full run of posts. Taking them off and putting them in a footer, that loads with every page, would be more effective.ellipses: Christopher Elliott's 'anti-blog' (as he called it) fits into the 'informative and practical' category. Although there seems to be some current obsession with air travel, there are some worthy travel and journalism posts if you dig into the archives.View From The Wing was already covered in 'Best Single-Author Travel Blog' category and looks better sitting in here.If Tim Leffel’s Cheapest Destinations gets overlooked in the 'Best Single-Author Travel Blog' category, it's not out of place in here either. For my money, it probably edges ahead in the Informal/Practical race so far. With my honourable mention already offered to Hotel Chatter, in the 'Best Group-Written Travel Blog' category, this collaborated creation is is going to push Tim hard. The question is, are hotel reviews more practical or would you rather read about travel and destinations in general?Inside Traveller, by Jessie Johnston and Emily Kin, was also nominated in t

Practical Tips on Reducing Gas Consumption
    2006-11-11 02:03:00
With the continuous increase in gas prices many drivers are looking for ways on how they can lessen their gas consumption. Fortunately, there are numerous ways on how to reduce gas consumption and here are some of them: 1. For quick trips to local stores ride a scooter or a bike if you have one but in case you don't have any of this it would be best to simply commute. You get to take a break from driving plus you won't have to consume your own car gasoline. 2. Try to carefully plan your activi
