| Darlington claims its victims in Friday practice | | 2008-05-09 17:12:19 | | DARLINGTON, S.C. -- The recently repaved Darlington Raceway proved to be just as tough on machinery as its former incarnation. No fewer than four drivers were forced to backup cars after incidents in Friday's two practice sessions, including defending Cup champion Jimmie Johnson.Johnson had just turned his quickest laps of the early session when he lost control of his No. 48 Chevrolet and hit the wall (watch video)."I hit the wall in Turn 1," Johnson said. "We worked hard over the night to make some gains and we ran two of the fastest laps and unfortunately I crashed on my third."I'm still trying to understand why we lost it. I lost it early on the straightaway before the corner, so something happened up on the straightaway."Johnson spun the backup car in the second session, damaging the left-front fender and splitter, but it appeared the team would be able to repair the damage in time for qualifying. Johnson said he couldn't remember crashing two cars in one day."Hey, we don't race un | | By: Unrestricted: My NASCAR Rants & Raves | | |

| Practice Good Computer Maintenance Regards to Data Recovery | | 2008-05-08 19:28:44 | | In the event your computer’s hard drive goes kaput, you will probably need to turn to a data recovery specialist to help retrieve your lost data. Anybody who has used a computer often will have felt how it feels to lose data. It may have been forgetting to save a written document before the computer crashes or perhaps even experiencing a total data loss when a hard drive ceases to function. Hard drives nowadays are becoming better & more dependable. In fact, I have been using mine since middle 2004 without any problems. Wow, it’s almost 5 years down the road without a single major glitch!*WHhoooTTtt! *Yeah, I am so proud of it! I prefer the Maxtor brand. I did not have a good experience with Seagate hard drives prior to 2004. Regardless of the brand, hard drives are mechanical in nature & are susceptible to encounter problems especially without good computer maintenance. I must admit that my computer’s hard drive had suddenly crashed once or twice a few months ago. It did | | By: internet executive log | | |

| Best Practice Creating Data Backup | | 2008-04-28 05:34:03 | | Repairing a hard drive efficiently takes a lot of effort, practice, experience, & research. It is not an activity that one can pick up in an evening & start disassembling & reassembling hard drives the next day. Having the data recovered in the first instance the hard drive is sent to the data recovery specialist is essential & they will let you know whether your hard drive can be repaired. You don’t have to waste money on trying to fix something that cannot be fixed. Therefore in the unfortunate cases where the data is lost forever on a hard drive; it is best to practice creating a backup of the data say on a flash drive, a DVD, on another hard drive, & etc. In case your computer hard drive goes kaput; you still have the same data on another data storage device to work with while the broken hard drive is being fixed. Proper data backup is essential to keep one’s operations on the move in the event of a hard disk mishap. | | By: internet executive log | | |

| The Raw Food Diet - How To Put It Into Practice | | 2008-04-09 05:13:09 | | Once you've made the commitment to the raw food diet you will find that you view food in a different way than ever before. When food becomes fuel then you've mastered the first step towards making it work for you and your body. The raw food diet helps people understand that food is fuel for the body and that a healthy approach to eating food can bring amazing benefits to the body. Are you ready for the raw food diet? That being said, the raw food diet isn't as easy to incorporate into busy schedules as some of the other diets that offer prepackaged foods may be for many. If you are willing to make the effort though, the results can be astonishing. Many people who have tried this diet has noticed such a dramatic change in not only their physical appearance but also how they feel that they have no interest in ever going back to a diet that involves processed foods, cooked foods, or animal products ever again. | Buddhists Practice Peaceful Activism | | 2008-04-03 21:49:26 | | Buddhists who stand up Westerners tend to think of Buddhism as a passive religion, focused on silent meditation and personal spiritual growth. The image of the Buddha seated with a smile sums it up.So while the West is highly familiar with conflict and activism in other religions, the "saffron revolution" in Burma and the "high altitude revolt" in Tibet have come as a surprise to many.In fact, there is a healthy tradition of Buddhist activism. Often called "engaged Buddhism," a term coined by Thich Nhant Hanh, a Vietnamese Zen Buddhist monk, it encourages a Buddhist critique of governmental and economic structures and other efforts to alleviate social suffering. In Sri Lanka, the Sarvodaya Movement works in over a thousand villages to empower the poor. Maha Ghosanand, a revered Cambodian Buddhist monk, led thousands in peaceful walks through the "killing fields" to seek reconciliation with the Khmer Rouge. | Soccer Player DUI Bust En Route to Practice | | 2008-04-02 03:04:09 | | If you're in a bar and dragged into a discussion over what constitutes a sport and the waitress can't come quickly enough with your bill so that you can extricate yourself from the situation--- without suffering a pounding headache in addition to the one you've already sustained from the pitchers of stale beer--here are two definitions that will serve you well:1. If you perspire during play, it's a sport (this disqualifies baseball and cricket).[Editor's note: If the horse perspires, this doesn't count. If you're playing patio darts and you perspire, it doesn't count either] 2. If you're able to quaff a beer without interrupting the course of play, it's not a sport (this includes bowling, darts and the aforementioned baseball and cricket). That being said, this doesn't diminish the athletic achievements of one John Daly, spotlighted earlier in the first installment of our Boozing Athletes series, whose ability to swing a golf club while simultaneously pinching the bottoms of clubhouse s | | By: The Shark Guys | | |

| Spring Practice and Recruiting | | 2008-03-19 05:08:00 | | Check out Manny's blog to hear news straight from the players' mouths about the 2008 football team. I really got a kick out of Shannon tossing everyone out after finding out that some website posted the entire previous scrimmage online. The tough guy attitude doesn't necessarily work (see Saban and the Dolphins) if you don't have the players, but it's still nice to see some fire from the coaching staff. Coker would have probably expressed mild disappointment and let it continue. From what I've gathered over the past few weeks, it will be a shock to see anyone but Robert Marve starting. I'm not sure I like the idea of rotating quarterbacks per se. It worked for UF in 2006 with Tebow and Leak, but this team is nowhere near a championship. There are examples of other semi-successful experiments with it (David Greene and DJ Shockley come to mind, and no it's not a white/black QB thing), but this is a young team. I'd rather have one guy back there leading them.If we do end up going with just | | By: State of Miami | | |

| Fiddle Practice: Ashokan Farewell | | 2008-03-14 15:12:00 | | I've spent all morning trying to get ready for my performance on Sunday - I told a friend I knew how to play this song and now she expects me to do it for a group of about 40 people on Sunday. It's a fiddle piece by Jay Unger but I'm no fiddler. They say the only difference between a fiddler and violinist is the number of teeth they have. I've got full set of pearly whites so I'm going to have to fake it a bit. To prepare, I've been listening to fiddlers on YouTube and trying to figure out my own notes to make it sound authentic. It's not perfect yet, but I thought I'd record it for you guys to hear. It's one of my all time favorite pieces of music. Some of you may recognize it from Ken Burns' Civil War series on PBS. Enjoy the screeching: | | By: Hollywood Flakes: Get 'em While They're Hot | | |

Since then, his life was focused on his recovery and on how soon he could safely stop taking Plavix — a blood-thinning, anti-clotting drug — and return to the field. What he thought was going to be just another routine visit to his doctor in early February turned out to be the breakthrough for which he's waited. He was told he could stop taking the medication immediately, much sooner than he thought."I thought it was just a checkup," Campbell said. "They decided I was going to come off the Plavix."

| Some News From Spring Practice | | 2008-02-26 18:09:00 | | If you're like me and are dying to find out more about our Canes football team, then I would suggest you read Manny Navarro's latest blog post about spring practice.Several thoughts regarding Manny's reports....I really like how Allen Bailey took one for the team. I fully expect him to contribute at the DE position once he learns the ins and outs. I wouldn't be surprised to see him start towards the end of the season. If not, then he will still be part of the rotation. You simply can't have a physical freak like him off the field. He's just too good.I was surprised to see that Glenn Cook had such harsh words about Arthur Brown's coaching. He wasn't knocking Brown per se, but he definitely took a shot at Brown's HS coaches. If it's true that Arthur has poor fundamentals, then God help anyone who has to face him on defense over the next few years, because he was an absolute monster in high school despite his "bad coaching". | Important Shots - Practice Drill 1 | | 2008-02-20 11:40:00 | | The most basic shots are probably also the most important shots of the game. The reason being is because they come up so often. Easy straight-in shots are the key to great positioning. When people tell you that no shot is easy, it is because they are taking the whole shot into consideration, not just pocketing the target ball. The shot begins when all balls have come to a rest and it only ends again when all balls have come to a rest. Being able to control where the cue/object balls will end up is the key to high runs. Speed control and english are very important, even on the most basic looking shots. Respect this concept first and you'll start to take the entire shot into focus. You will need to visualize the paths of all balls that are contacted once the shot is in motion. The following setup happens very often. It is a straight in shot. Try setting up this shot and randomly placing another ball anywhere on the table. There should be no where on th | | By: Billiard HQ | | |

| 6 Tips to Practice Natural Cures | | 2007-12-05 23:18:26 | | Many of us know that eating fruits, vegetables, herbs are good for health, although we already know by reading some facts, science book, magazine, or even my blog about the benefits of health foods such as fruits, vegetables, herbs and all the vitamins, minerals, natural chemicals that contains in it is good for health, and has a potential to heal certain diseases naturally. But when it comes to practicing eating it, or doing the therapies everyday, many of us will have a difficulty of doing it. Believe me, good food usually doesn't taste that good, and to prepare it is another problem to some people. These are some of the helpful tips that you should take in order for you to practice Natural Cures:1) MIND SETYou must SET A MIND SET!, "An apple a day keeps the doctor away", which means, you are the cure yourself. Start practicing healthy eating habits, avoid those processed foods, fast foods, junk foods and start exercising at least 20 minutes per day and 3 times a week.2) SET A GOALSet | | By: The Natural Cures | | |

| Here's why commonplacing should be common practice! | | 2007-11-22 14:52:45 | | Keeping a Commonplace BookLast night, I delivered my new presentation 'I Must Write That Down: A Commonplace Book' for Southbourne Literary Society. I'll write about that engagement in my next post but I'm going to use this one to talk about commonplace books and their extraordinary value for public speakers.A commonplace book is where you copy anything that makes you think 'I must write that down before I forget it!' It may be something you read or hear or perhaps even some words of your own. Quotations, short verse or prose, observations, anecdotes, jokes, facts...anything that strikes you as inspiring, moving, amusing or fascinating - would your audience think the same if you included any of them in a future presentation? They could be inscriptions from monuments dating back centuries or statements from interviewees in today's tabloid press but whatever they are, write them down because many of them will be useful for your public speaking - sometimes much sooner than you could have imagined.Over many years of teaching workshops and classes in presentation skills, I have advised my students to keep commonplace books. It's something I do myself and it seemed a sensible idea to pass on but it was only when I began researching this new talk about commonplacing that I discovered that I had simply been carrying on a 2,500 year-old tradition! Teachers of rhetoric, dating back to Aristotle in Ancient Greece (and possibly even Protagoras a century before him) recommended that pupils should compile a repository of great ideas from others for use in their persuasive speaking!Keeping a collection of this kind is immensely valuable for speakers; once you have committed an idea to your commonplace book, your subconscious mind often seems to go to work on natural ways for you to introduce it into your material at the earliest opportunity. If you are uncertain what sort of material to include, have a look at some of the recently published commonplace books, such as Magnus | | By: Nick R Thomas - A Public Speaker's Blog | | |

| How to Both Practice and Enjoy Guitar | | 2007-11-20 19:01:01 | | Hi ATOMIC fans.
Some of you are high schoolers, some college students, some working adults like me. If you're one of the first two (or a pro), you have plenty of opportunities throughout the day to tackle a strict practice routine. You can sustain higher levels of performance and play difficult styles like Tech Rock, Neo-classical, Classical, and complex Jazz.
We have wives and kids and 8 million bills to pay. We might have an hour or two to practice and enjoy our guitars each day. We really don't have time to both practice to sustain the highest levels of performance and have fun with our instruments.
So the question is... How can those of us who have the busiest lives (beginner, intermediate, or advanced) both progress our playing levels/sustain performance levels and enjoy our time with our guitars?
Say you have only an hour to play guitar each day. I recommend finding balance between 1) practicing and learning new things, and 2) vibing out and recording.
You should make time | | By: ATOMIC Guitarist | | |

| F1: Hamilton tops practice 2 - Brazil | | 2007-10-19 21:26:07 | | Championship leader Lewis Hamilton beat title rival Fernando Alonso to the fastest time in Friday afternoon practice at Interlagos. Despite the looming prospect of a post-session visit to the stewards to find out if he will be penalised for using too many sets of wet tyres earlier on, Hamilton set the fastest time by 0.122 seconds when both McLarens tried the softer Bridgestones in the final minutes. The Ferraris only managed third and fourth places. After the rain that affected first practice, only a few damp areas remained when the second session began. A few drivers experimented with intermediate tyres initially, but once Mark Webber had gone quickest by 2.6 seconds on dry tyres, the rest of the field swiftly followed suit. With track conditions improving all the time, the top spot quickly changed hands during the following half an hour. Alonso's early 1:16.081 benchmark did not last long before Hamilton embarked on a long run that eventually took him down to a 1:14.949 lap. Felipe Massa then took a brief turn on top before Alonso reclaimed first place. The BMW drivers were next to lead the way when they tried the softer tyres, with Robert Kubica holding a six tenths of a second advantage over the rest of the field at the halfway point. Alonso's first run on soft tyres was spoilt by traffic, but on the second attempt he produced a 1:13.239 and beat Kubica by 0.3 seconds. That proved insufficient when Hamilton switched to softs five minutes later. The championship leader lapped in 1:12.767, half a second quicker than his teammate. They were briefly split by Felipe Massa, before Alonso found more time on a new set of tyres and closed the gap to Hamilton to 0.122 seconds. Kimi Raikkonen lost time on his soft tyre run when he locked up while trying to pass Hamilton. He could only manage fourth place. Giancarlo Fisichella completed the top five for Renault, ahead of Kubica and the two Williams. Kazuki Nakajima had been as high as fourth during the session, before ending the day 0.009 seconds slower than teammate Nico Rosberg.Pos Driver Team Time Laps 1. | I WOULD RATHER GOUGE MY EYES OUT WITH A SAND-PAPER COVERED SPOON THAN WATCH ANOTHER EPISODE OF ABC'S PRIVATE PRACTICE | | 2007-10-08 15:16:00 | | Apparently, alot of people watch the hard-hitting medical drama Grey's Anatomy (really it's a soft-core soap opera porn for women). Recently it spun off another show (unholy abomination) known as Private Practice. Bored as usual, I decided to give this piece of monkey spunk an objective viewing. After watching it, I'm left with one feeling only...best described medically as a feverish, vommitting sensation accompanied by severe spastic colon. Don't get me wrong, Dr. Addison (Kate Walsh) is one hot piece of tail (I'd definitely let her "practice" with my "privates"), but other than her the cast is made up of wooden B-actors walking through a script not fit for a Lifetime movie of The Week. Starring alongside her "fineness", are Taye Diggs, from How Stella Got Her Groove Back.Tim Daly, otherwise known as the "not-so-funny" guy from Wings. That was the show where a bunch of drunks sat around a bar and complained. I think he was a postman or something. There's also some ugly chick who played like Judge Judy or something on CBS. and there's some bald, italian guy who might have played Guido The Killer Pimp in Risky Business. So you ask: What is the plot of this show? I still don't know! Hot chick goes thru mid-life crisis, kisses some faggotty dude, drinks some Starbucks, talks about sex with some cackling hens, dances in front of a mirror, delivers a baby...yada, yada, yada. That's about all I could piece together. In fact, this show should carry a SURGEON GENERAL'S WARNING: Prolonged viewing of Private Practice may cause an increase in Estrogen levels, Man-Boobs, Ascended Testicles, Growth of a Sensitive Pony-Tail, or a Mangina. Stick this turd where it belongs in the toilet. | | By: The Toxic Life | | |
