    PreGame Notes: Fredi Suspended and Fined, Dontrelle Fined

    Prior to tonights Mets/Marlins matchup Fredi Gonzalez was handed down a 1 game suspension for leaving the clubhouse after being tossed from last nights game. Gonzalez will serve the suspension tonight, leaving the managerial duties to bench coach Carlos Tosca. Gonzalez was ejected in the third inning of Thursday’s 5-4, 11-inning win over the Phillies after arguing a play at first base. In the fourth, when the benches cleared, Gonzalez appeared from the clubhouse to assist with the peacekeeping process. Per Juan C. Rodriguez’s Sentinel article… “I didn’t want it to escalate,” said Gonzalez, adding his sole purpose was to get guys back in the dugout. “I didn’t go out there to instigate anything.” Dontrelle Willis and Jon Lieber were also fined for being ninnies. Florida is looking for its bats to wake up in the second game of the series on Saturday at RFK Stadium. First pitch for today’s game at RFK Stadium is at 7:05 PM EST. Pitching Notes FLA: RHP Ricky Nolasco (1-1, 7.30 ERA) Even though he gave up six runs on 10 hits his last time out — against the Dodgers on Sunday — Nolasco was able to log six innings and toss 100 pitches.
