| Pretty Good Reason for my Absence | | 2008-08-23 13:22:00 | | I want to apologize for being MIA the last couple months, but I think I have a pretty good reason for it. My little girl was born on July 14th and my life has been turned topsy-turvy upside down ever since. I am sorry I haven't been replying to emails like I usually do or posting. I think that now things are starting to settle down as I start to get the hang of being a parent and hopefully I can get back into the blogging swing of things. For those that are interested she was 7 lbs. even and 18.5 inches long.I was really worried before she came how my anxiety would be after the birth when my hormones were all out of it. Honestly the very day she was born I remember feeling extremely anxious about eating the hospital food, especially with all the guests around. But I made it through without any panic attacks and I haven't had too many issues since then. I guess nursing probably helps my appetite.A new anxiety has snuck into my life. Anytime I need to leave the house with her I get this ... | | By: The Reality of Anxiety | | |
| | | Yeah, it's pretty good to be the Cubs right about now | | 2008-04-23 12:38:26 | |
Here's the real reason Ted Lilly got it together yesterday. Hanging with a drop-dead gorgeous supermodel will get anyone going.
The Cubs have become quite the hot topic of late. That's what winning five straight and 13 of the last 16 games will do. Hell, even Deadspin is doing a daily Cubs post (it seems at least), but I really believe that's Will Leitch (a die-hard Cards fan) trying some reverse mojo.
Is it early? Sure is (cough, Cedeno). But with the Reds already firing their G.M. (but still retaining Dusty), the Featured Display That Is Eric Gagne running all summer at Miller Park and the fact sometime soon (I think, well, hope) St. Louis will come back down to Earth (seriously, no way that rotation can hold up), the Cubs seem to be sitting pretty.
Of course, as Cubs fans do, there's always that feeling of "waiting for the other shoe to drop."
For now, I'm having a hell of a time riding this wave, and plan to keep on doing so.
Game thread later today.

| Have you heard? Mavs vs. Warriors is a pretty good series | | 2007-05-03 13:21:00 | | The wackiest, most entertaining series of the NBA Playoffs thus far has been the Golden State-Dallas matchup. At least that's what I've read and heard on the radio talk shows.Too bad most of the action has occurred so late at night that half the country has already been asleep. Tonight's Game 6 starts at 10:30 p.m. EST. In the spirit of the newly-founded tradition here at The View, the NBA and Commissioner David Stern have to get a Wet Willie for that.In case you haven't followed it, let's recap this series so far.The eighth-seeded Warriors lead the top-seeded Mavericks, who many -- including yours truly -- picked to win the NBA title, 3-2. The Warriors came within a 15-0 run by Dallas at the end of Game 5 from already eliminating the Mavericks. The Warriors might be winning, but they are certainly not acting like it. Stephen Jackson has been ejected from two games and Baron Davis one for arguing with the refs. Coach Don Nelson keeps trying to exert some control by fining his misbe... | | By: Valentine's Views on Sports | | |
