    2008-08-01 18:20:11
The week is almost over! Bring on the long weekend! Anyways, I thought I’d take a quick moment to summarize some of the interesting iPhone 3G headlines this past week. Let’s take a quick gander shall we? Case of the iPhone 3G crackings: Is your iPhone 3G cracking anywhere? WinPwn 2.5 is coming out soon. If you’re [...]

    Two Birthdays and some ramblings
    2008-06-21 21:25:00
I have been somewhat preoccupied and forgot to come here and blog about two wonderful kids who have both celebrated getting another year older. Megan turned 11 on June 17th. I can hardly believe she is 11 and starting sixth grade in just a few short months. Mr. Bill turned 6 on June 21st (today!). He is my baby and it seems impossible that he is really 6 years old now. Time really does fly as you get older. -----------------------------In other news we bought the pool today. As we stood outside and measured though we realized a 25 foot pool would take up a lot of the usable space in our yard and would not fit in the space we had wanted to put it. So we opted for the 18 foot one instead. Now my husband is outside knee deep in the dirt, leveling the ground to prepare it for a pool. The kids are beyond excited. I also made my first batch of strawberry rhubarb jam today. I followed a recipe I had seen on Owlhaven's blog and it was super simple. I used our garden strawberries in the first 6

    Phillies Ramblings
    2008-06-12 12:39:14
I haven't done nearly as much writing about the Phillies as I had planned to - mostly because I didn't expect to have so little to complain about. It's much easier, as a long-suffering Philadelphia fan, to write about the frustrations of watching a baseball team day in and day out. There is also a part of me that is hesistant to write too much positive stuff about a team because I'm so used to Philly teams dissapointing that I'm almost numb to success because I expect the downfall. OK - well, enough about my crooked, clearly damaged psyche - let's talk about the Phillies through the first 67 games.

    Philly Ramblings
    2008-05-27 20:41:57
Just getting my 2 cents in on a variety of issues that I don't feel like writing a whole post on. - Jamie Moyer, 45, has not completely shut the door on returning to pitch next year, and considering he hasn't counted on arm strength for awhile, it is certainly a possibility. If Moyer does return, and gets 15 more wins before he retires, he will be just the 8th Left-Handed pitcher ever to finish his career with 250 wins and 2,000 strikeouts. The others are Randy Johnson, Steve Carlton, Tom Glavine, Warren Spahn, Tommy John, Jim Kaat, Lefty Grove and Eddie Plank. - Pedro Feliz has a higher BA, OBP and SLG% than the Nationals Ryan Zimmerman. - Considering how good our offense and bullpen are, all the Phillies need from their Pitching Staff is Cole Hamels and 4 guys with a 4.50 ERA. Right now the ERAs of our 5 starting pitchers are 3.18, 4.45, 4.71, 5.37, 5.79. Too bad cheap one-year options like Livan Hernandez (4.22), Kyle Lohse (4.26), Odalis Perez (4.13) and Mark Hendrickson (4.14)

Train Ramblings: How Well do You Actually Know About Your Own Country?
    2008-04-28 19:14:18
I'm writing this in a moving train that is taking us back to Aberdeen. Yes, the train provides a free wi-fi service, which helps me to endure the 7 hours journey back from London. To think that most shopping malls in Jakarta still charge their customers for providing wi-fi service is ridiculous, especially when you have to buy different wi-fi cards on different shops. Sitting down in Coffee Club might not guarantee that the wi-fi cards I buy from Starbucks would work although they are in the same mall. Starbucks Plaza Indonesia's wi-fi card wouldn't work at the one on Plaza Senayan. Go to Cazbar or Eastern Promise for a free wi-fi. No frills. You just have to buy a glass of beer and smile at the gorgeous barmaids to obtain the password, and they will let you sit with your computer on. London weather had been nice with a little bit rain here and there. Definitely warmer than Aberdeen, definitely much more busier which took me a split second to get used to see a lot of people in London B

The mock apple pie? I thought it was okay. Not apple flavored but sweet with the same texture for the most part. Billy though really liked it. Ha! I prefer the apple version.I need those of you who requested a coupon to drop me an email with your address. And Lori and Alison, unfortunately they are not good outside of the USA. I am sorry. I would love to send you one if you could use it. (toogirls2000@yahoo.com)

England, Here I Come (Plus My Ramblings Again)
    2008-03-17 11:30:00
This will be my last life-intensive update for a while. I will be returning to regular blogging once finals are over and I'm back from my trip. I apologize if you're expecting lots of well thought out posts or grand ruminations on the state of science fiction or fantasy in the world of literature. Finals are, to put it simply, somewhat more difficult this quarter than last considering that I actually have tests this time around, instead of essays. I am, by nature, far better at writing essays than taking tests because I feel I have more to offer from a writing perspective--when it comes to the material read--than I do from a memorization perspective. I learn far more from forcing myself to write essays than I do from forcing myself to cram information into my head that will, in a few months past, be largely forgotten. As such, I am generally against the idea of testing beyond quizzes or the occasional refresher to make sure one is actually reading. In any case, expect regular bl

    Random Ramblings - logo
    2008-02-27 05:31:00
Finally, I have a logo for my blog. It has been created in Blender by a member of my family (check out blog: http://beakers-3-dimensions.blogspot.com/ ). Using the rambling theme, I decided that a representation of the 'white dog rose' on a rambling briar would be suitable. The words 'random ramblings' were made to represent stone so that the briar could ramble around them. The background, hopefully matches the original colour. Surprisingly, it was difficult to upload the image into Blogger as it only allows for two sizes - large and small. The large version took up most of the monitor screen whereas the small version squashed itself shyly into the left-hand corner. It took crop after crop and stretch after stretch - not to mention a few shrinking sizes into 'Photoshop' before I could finally upload the size that is at the top of my blog. I looked into the back 'edit Html' code hoping to see if I could tweak the size but this appears to be hidden - so I had to proceed with a front

Shoulder acheDo you use an office furniture to place your computer? I design this computer desk by myself, I want it to be comfortable and ergonomic, in fact, I am not a furniture designer! As a result, it is not ergonomic at all.. hahaha... my right shoulder is always hurt when I work in front of my computer too long.Limited connectionBy the way, tomorrow is the last day of January, I only have 1 hour left of internet connection. Sorry for being not able to visit yours until February ok? My one and only new maid just told me she got headache... now she is taking a rest (not rest in peace lah..hihihihi) She is still very young, she always asks me where I am going and when I will be back! She is afraid of being left alone at home while I have to go to take Clay to school and so on...Big DaddyWell..well..well... I also have something i

    2 AM ramblings

My dad is thisclose to taking me to the hospital, hahaha. Apparently my illness isn’t “natural” and he’s afraid that I am afflicted with some sort of ghastly lung infection that will lead to something more serious. My Ramblings on Working at home
    2007-12-15 08:49:07
When I think about working at home; a picture comes into my mind. Sitting on the sofa, totally relaxed, with laptop on the lap, with a cup of steaming coffee in the hand or on the coffee table. Consider this, the coffee is cold, the phone is ringing, and you still have a lot of chores to do. It's not very easy to find such work and even if you manage to find it, you need lots of persistence to pursue it.My original mission, when starting this blog, was to earn a full time income from home. I'm still so far away from the goal. There are times when I want to give up, and forget about it. It feels difficult to do a full time job, take care of the house and look after the blog as well. It is sheer willpower and my love of writing that makes me pursue this goal, day after day, month after month. I look at other bloggers, and find them so much more successful, and get frustrated. I blame the fact that I don't get time, I don't get opportunity and then tell myself these are all excuses. It's also difficult to make certain choices, where to draw the line. If I do too many opportunities (blogging), my blog is filled with posts irrelevant to the subject of the blog. How many words are enough? What should be the posting frequency? If you spend too much time writing, when will you advertise your blog. Whether to put ads on the blog or not? How to keep track of the various advertising programs you have joined, and whether you should write about them or not. It takes time, and organization. I have also wanted to make a website of my own. That's my resolution for the next year. I have quite a lot of ideas for the website. It will be about working at home, and all resources that people need to work at home. I haven't posted last week at all, I know. It was a busy week. Christmas is near, and the call center is too busy. I would talk all day long, and when I came home, my whole system had shut down. I've got weekend off, so I intend to compensate for the whole week. I'll pre

A Quick Update and Other Ramblings
    2007-10-06 19:49:00
If you are not reading this at The Reality of Anxiety homepage you are reading stolen content. Please click here to be redirected to the original author's page.I made it through my birthday without a panic attack. I didn't really do very much for it and maybe thats why. I kept it pretty low key. And although a part of me was sad that there was no party, no big dinner celebration where all the attention was on me and my existence, the majority of me was happy to just be panic free.So I took the route of doing what I wanted. I took a half day of vacation from work and went out to the mountains with a couple of mt friends to take pictures of the fall scenery. I had been wanting to get up there before the weather got too cold, and photography is very relaxing for me. The weather was perfect. As I have said before, I am a big believer in taking up hobbies because they are very therapeutic and I think they help you to gain confidence. I personally enjoy photography, blogging, and playing the piano to name a few. Here are a couple shots that I took:It was nice to have a panic attack free birthday for the first time in years. In other news, I chopped my hair. I took off about three inches and I dyed it pretty dark with red highlights. Its about a shade darker than my natural color. Some days I really like it and others I think, "What have I done!?!" I've gotten a lot of compliments but for some reason I rarely believe any of them. Its hard for me to accept compliments. I guess that goes back to my low self esteem, but I really think people are just being polite. And I'm not blogging about this because I am fishing for compliments, because like I said, I probably wouldn't believe you if you did. I do think its an interesting thought. Does anyone have a hard time excepting compliments? On the flip side, I don't give out compliments lightly. If I give a compliment to someone, I really do mean it. I can't stand it when people say they agree with or constantly praise eithe

Browns roster ramblings and some predictions
    2007-09-04 11:40:00
Looking over the final roster, here are some random thoughts:Best units:1. Linebackers--Their youth could hurt at first, but they are fast with huge potential. Could develop into the one of the best LB corps in the league down the road.2. Tight ends--KWII appears healthy, Heiden is always dependable, Dinkins provides depth.Shakiest units:1. Defensive line--The starting nose tackle is a year older and the guy being groomed as his replacement is unproven and starting at left end due to injury. Free agency and the draft changed a lot of faces, but can any of them play? Run defense has to be a huge concern.2. Defensive backs--The talent is there if it is healthy, but that has been a big "if" the past two seasons. The Browns kept 10 DBs, 7 of them CBs for just this reason.3. Running backs--Jamal Lewis has looked good, but can he carry the load all season, and if he gets hurt, can either of the remaining guys be a starter week in and week out?4. Wide receivers--Braylon Edwards is talented, but inconsistent. Joe Jurecvicious is dependable, but not a star. Beyond those two, no one has stepped up. Someone needs to.Most improved unit:1. Offensive line--A couple years ago the Browns restocked the line with a bunch of past-their prime free agents. This season they rebuilt it with young free agents and draft choices. Steinbach, Thomas, and McKinney are a huge boost, and if Bentley comes back this line could be great.Players that worry me the most:1. Ted Washington--he struggled at times last season, with one front office exec saying "He's already retired, he just doesn't know it." His experience and tremendous size earn him the starting spot, but the skills just aren't there any more.2. Phil Dawson--he struggled the last half of last season, missing 5 of his last 9, and also missed a couple of field goals during the preseason. The next Browns Pro Bowlers: Kamerion Wimbley and Kellen WinslowBrowns Potential Pro Bowlers over the next few years: Sean Jones,

    Therapeutic Ramblings
    2007-06-20 13:12:00
This is a venting post! :-)We are moving out of this house in a few weeks. We're planning a trip to British Columbia and Washington State. I will not miss this house! The location is great and it's a cute house but it has problems. I'm very happy I didn't buy it. Breaking the lease might cost a couple of thousand dollars but it's better than having to deal with renovating a house. We have three bathrooms. In the one off the kitchen the tank doesn't fill after you flush it. I tried adjusting the ball thingy inside of the tank but to no avail. Luckily we have a moisture problem in the basement so we have dehumidifier running all the time. When the dehumidifier's bucket is full we dump it in the toilet tank. One problem fixes the other. The second bathroom is off of the master bedroom. The toilet leaks from the bottom. There's always a puddle next to the toilet. I used to think the water there was from the shower since the shower also leaks. The shower basin slopes away from the drain. It's really not a shower basin. They tiled the entire bathroom floor then put up sliding glass doors on a 3 or 4 inch partition. We stopped using that shower about a month ago. That's when I discovered the leaking toilet. The third bathroom is the best. Its only problem is that the shower basin slopes away from the drain. I really don't understand how anybody could build a shower and forget to make it slope into the drain and not away from it. After each shower we use this squeegee thing that they use to mop the floors to push the water over to the drain. When it rains it pours. I think I wrote an entry about the leaks before. I fixed most of the master bedroom myself. When they installed the new wood, single pane windows they didn't bother sealing them anywhere. Not at all. Not even a little bit. Now that I sealed the windows myself the bedroom stays mostly dry when it rains --- except for near the gas heater. The gas heater is another story. Its vent goes out the wall and into w

Steps To Success With Career Ramblings
    2007-05-28 02:24:23
I posted an article here a couple of months ago about successful job hunting. In it I provided steps you can take to help improve your chances of finding your next best job. I’d like to add CareerRamblings.com to that list. At the helm of this informative blog are John Anthony and Jane May. Their collective experience is prominently displayed throughout the variety of tips and news topics meant to keep you abreast of things happening in the job market. Not to be confused with a site where you’d find job listings; rather, it’s a resource that will prepare you in your job search and bring meaning to your career development. For example, take Learn To Get A Job By Marketing Yourself. This offers a checklist of things we should be doing without even thinking about it, yet oftentimes overlook them. Polish up your cover letter and resume, speak professionally, and don’t forget about the all-important handshake. Any of these ring a bell? On a personal level, the handsh

Thoughts On Kircus and Other Ramblings
    2007-05-22 16:26:49
Kircus Might Be Gone Things aren't looking too good for Broncos receiver David Kircus.  Maybe that should read soon-to-be former Broncos receiver David Kircus.  After being a person of interest in an alledged assault on Sunday, Kircus was officially booked and charged with second-degree assault on Monday.  Kircus has been accused of punching a man at a party Kircus was invited to by a female acquaintence.  During the party, Kircus and the female friend reportedly had a disagreement and the owner of the house asked Kircus to leave.  At some point while outside Kircus struck the man, leaving him with multiple facial fractures.  The news of Kircus' run in with John Q. Law did not please Mike Shanhan -- "Obviously if he didn't handle himself the right way he won't be with us," Broncos coach Mike Shanahan said. "But I'm going to let the due process take care of itself first and find out exactly what the situation is." Meaning, if you did what they say

Miscellaneous Blog Updates and AGLOCO Ramblings
    2007-04-27 14:40:18
If you didn’t notice I finally got a top commentator plugin working (They kept causing horrible layout problems in Internet Explorer). I found a widget called Top Commentator’s Widget made by Lorna Timbah, which is a plugin that is based on the popular Show Top Commentator’s Plugin made By Nate Sanden. What is great about this plugin is that it lists the top commentators from your blog and rewards them with a link back to their site. It helps to promote commenting and also gives a nice bonus to those who are active on your blog. I named the top commentator’s on here ‘The High Five‘, so if you are one of the top 5 commentator’s on this blog, you will get a free followable link back to your site to give you a bit more traffic and help your search engine rankings as well, just make sure the comment is on topic and never spam, because I hate spam (except when lightly salted). Also I am working on a future blog contest (You can find a secret hint of
