| readership. | | 2008-07-30 03:27:40 | | It has come to my attention that my readership on this blog has grown. Do I sound upset about this? Hell no! Slightly stupified? Very much so...Now originally, the blog was only read by the likes of Lexy and Jimbo. The other day, a random colleage sent me a message on the book of faces, saying my writing was very entertaining. My ego accepted this compliment very humbly and decided that being "humble" is for wussies hence growing to the size of an oversized giant squid (yes, that kinda big- look here). I dreamt of days where I would tople TuckerMax, one of my idols, and become the next top story blog forever! ...Oh yes, reality. Actually, reality turned out to be far...stranger. I was out to dinner and a friend's girlfriend, whom I barely see (you know who you are, cookiejar!) seemed to know a lot about my personal life. I'd completely forgotten that she reads my blog. J. David Macor has a problem. His website traffic is increasing on his well established blog, but he is just not seeing the numbers of readers, subscribers and commenters that he’d like.
I empathize. I’ve had this blog in various formats and names since 1998 (before “blogging” was blogging ) and I have only started seeing major traffic and more than 0 comments on my posts!
I have tried the tips below to increase my readership. Hopefully, they will help anyone out there who is trying to increase their impact on the blogosphere and get a return on the investment of blood, sweat, tears and money to blog about the topics you love.
Utilize SEO techniques to put the post title first in the browser’s toolbar, instead of the blog name. If you are using WordPress, there’s a great plugin called SEO Title Tag that will do the job for you, with just a few steps. By doing this, you improve your blog’s chances of coming up first in online searches.
