| Obama Gets Rock Star Reception in Germany | | 2008-07-25 07:13:01 | | “There’s a problem with their American flags, they aren’t on fire,” Jon Stewart said of German citizens gathered to hear Barack Obama speak on Thursday. More than 200,000 people gathered at the Victory Column in the heart of Tiergarten park in Berlin, to listen to the presidential candidate from America. German media compared the visit to the famous visit made by President Kennedy in 1963. Barack Obama is in the midst of a seven nation tour that has taken him to Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Jordan, Israel, and Germany. Obama is extremely popular in these countries because citizens in these countries are ready for change as much as the United States. Jon Stewart so perceptively pointed out on his show Thursday night that the citizens waving flags in Germany did not set them on fire. Obama’s foreign policy of restoring relationships with foreign nations and not using war as a first option have people around the world hopeful for better working relations | | By: The Mersman Political Blog | | |

| Canadian Carbon Tax Proposal Getting Lackluster Reception | | 2008-06-26 23:00:00 | | We've written a few times recently (here and here) about Canadian Liberal Party leader Stephane Dion's plan for a carbon tax, and the lackluster reception it is receiving. Dion has been trying to emphasize that the carbon tax will include redistributing tax cuts on other things, to little avail.Over at Filibuster Cartoons, Canadian cartoonist J.J. McCullough offers this take, writing:Liberal leader Stephane Dion has staked a great deal of his political future on a proposed Carbon Tax, which, should he be elected Prime Minister, will tax all gasoline purchases made in Canada.Dion wants the tax to be "revenue neutral," which is to say it won't actually bring any more money into the government, because he'll accompany it with tax cuts in other areas. So it's really more of a punishment tax than anything else. The Liberals say it will do wonderful things in the long run, namely get people to drive less and invest more in green energy. But to many people, a tax is a tax, and promis | | By: Tax Policy Blog | | |

| Where Will I Hold the Reception? | | 2008-05-05 08:09:20 | | Reserving a venue is, obviously, very important. Unfortunately, it might not be as easy as it sounds. The reception location often needs to be reserved a weeks, often months in advance, and it needs to be big enough to house all the guests. Things to consider when reserving a venue… :: The size. Too small a venue could spell disaster. If a reception location is unable to house all guests, equipment, bands, and decorations, the day may be ruined. Parking space for guests must also be considered. No attendees want to walk 3 blocks in high heels. :: Is it inside or outside? While you and your spouse may crave an outdoor reception, foul weather will easily ruin the party. Make sure the weather on your wedding day is going to be okay. If it isn’t, ensuring that the reception location has an alternate indoor option will save the day. :: What services does the venue off | | By: wonderful wedding | | |

| Choosing Your Reception Music | | 2008-04-29 01:04:00 | | There are many ways for you to settle on reception dance music. The first thing to consider is are there any appropriate songs that you have been listening to for years. If there are pencil them into the Wedding music list. Was there a song you dance with your father at the sock hops, perhaps a favorite tune that your mother used to sing to you. There are no wrong choices.Secondly, establishing a mood for your wedding reception is something that your disc jockey can help you with. S/he is probab | | By: Christmas Wedding-2008 | | |

| Stunning Reception at The Victoria Inn | | 2007-06-23 07:18:38 | | It’s so nice shooting weddings in the country. There’s something so refreshing about it. From starting out at Mike’s farm, to a sweet ceremony in a quaint country church, finishing up in the open air by Rice Lake.
Mike & Sarah were such a fun loving, affectionate couple. They spent most of their day talking, whispering and laughing together - it was obvious that their marriage is based on a powerful and committed friendship.
Kim Macdonald (one of the new photographers in our ranks) was along as my second photographer and assistant, and she did an amazing job of photographing the guys prior to the ceremony… Check these shots out!
I snagged this shot while traveling in the limo between the ceremony and reception.
When we arrived at the Inn, right away I could see that the dock would provide us an amazing location for a variety of shots…
