With the first tracks on “Late Bloomers“, Gerber already makes clear what this is all about. Not only is he mixing House, Techno and Trance like nobody else - he is also producing with accordion sounds and basslines reminding of Queen’s “Another One Bites The Dust” (”Unfulfilled”) without any concern and thus showing his multiple influences from Carl Craig via Giorgio Moroder to Jean Michel Jarre.
However, this all is “only” the prelude, because the first real climax of the CD is reached from track 5 on with Gerber’s last 12″ for Cocoon “Belly Dancing”, immediately followed by last year’s smash hit “Sea of Sand”, a track which was not missing from the set of any Techno DJ or House DJ in 2006. With “Persona Non Grata”, he proves that he keeps his nerves. AVA Recordings has been generating quite a buzz these days. The latest release “YearZero” from label originator Andy Moor along with Orkidea headed straight to the No.1 spot on the Beatport trance charts and stayed that way for weeks on end. Finally after waiting since the end of February we are now being liberated by the fourth release from the label.
The track is titled “BAAS” and comes from well known dance guru’s Slusnik Luna and Peter Lowland, along with a fantastic remix from Swedish producer Algarve. Fresh off their successful release of “Last Train to Transcentral” we’re sure to expect great things from these lads. The original starts with a nice intro into a thundering, driving bassline. The layering of this track is the beautiful part though with lovely percussion and excellent padding to feed it along. Then as with any AVA release, we are treated to a lovely selection of melody’s and a wonderful breakdown.
