This is a quality video on the topic: Ponder This… reiterates our call for peace, diplomacy and a rejection of force as a means to solve problems.

    2008-04-27 09:41:00
In continuation...............After a long waiting gradually we reached our destination ROHTANG, the region of snow - icy land. . Ice and ice, a large area was covered with snow on the slope of Routing. We found a pyramid type structure and half circle shaped structure near a KUND named BEAS KUND, all around the area was like a vast snow of ocean suitable for skiing. Sudden clouds covered sometime whole snow area and some times sharp reflections of sunshine on snow seem as milky smoke covering the area. It becomes difficult to gazing the beauty of snow in bare eyes in sunny weather. Sunglass to some extend gives remedy. I had to remove my sunglass for a while to witness natural beauty on large area of snow. But no longer I could, in sharp reflection of sunlight. Stepped in the half circle structure near a KUND which is the famous Beas Kund , the source of the Beas river. The great rishi Vyas performed "Tapa" here during the Mahabharat times. Deep in the south of France, in the world-famous Languedoc-Roussillon region
    2008-03-26 06:51:00
Yves Delmas, owner of Domaine La Noble, and Dan Kravitz, an American importer, found the special terroir here to be perfect for yielding classically proportioned Bordeaux grape varietals such as cabernet sauvignon and merlot, but also Rhone varietals such as syrah, mourvedre and grenache. But this particular bottle of La Noble is a clean and straight merlot. A French wine must have 100 percent of the varietal in the bottle to be able to have its name on the label, and this in turn makes for easier marketing in the United States.

Real estate perspectives for the region of Moscow in 2008
    2008-03-22 10:55:00
As the most fundamental obstacles for real estate in the Moscow region, Voronin identified bureaucracy and the physical scarcity of building materials. Although the production of materials is actively developing, he does not expect to see a breakthrough in the next five years. As a recommendation to private real estate investors in the region, Voronin remarked that currently economy class residential space remains the most liquid with nevertheless a high potential for growth. However, he noted, "A more interesting idea is investment in "gated communities". According to Voronin, these communities carry with them a higher margin of profitability, but their attractiveness depends on the length of the desired commitment, as they are less liquid.

    NCAA Tournament Breakdown: West Region
    2008-03-20 05:53:23
Many experts say UCLA has the easiest path to the Final Four. We call this the "kiss of death." Whenever the talking heads start singing your praises, you don't have a chance, right? You're jinxed for sure.Well, that's usually the case. And if you follow our fantasy football coverage, you know there's nothing we love more than proving the experts wrong. But--and we know this might cause you to cancel your subscription to TJI--in this case, we have to agree.UCLA has all the components of a champion. They're battle-tested, have multiple scoring threats, and they're well coach. Last year's run will serve them well, as they won't be distracted by the spotlight. And the biggest change from this year to last--Freshman stud Kevin Love--will help them, too.And when you take a look at the other teams in the West, there just isn't anyone who stands out. UConn is streaky. Duke is under-sized. Xavier plays in the Atlantic-10. Drake is Drake. No one can hang with the Bruins. So here are the official

    NCAA Tournament Breakdown: South Region
    2008-03-19 07:43:20
John Calipari is going to want to give Dan Marino a call one of these days. No, not to sign up for Nutri-system or borrow some Isotoners. The call's going to need to be made so the two can chat about not being able to win it all. Every winter, we cheered for ol' Danny Boy to will his team to the title. But it never happened. And many-a-March in the 90's were spent cheering on Calipari's UMass teams. But they couldn't pull it off, either. Now John Calipary has a new home, the University of Memphis and yet another 30-win squad. But unfortunately it is not, once again, the year of the Tigers. And we've got two words that sum up the reason why: Conference USA. Memphis needs to get out of that conference and play some real teams. Otherwise, tourney time is going to be more of the same year in, year out.So, please, if you've picked Memphis to win it all, use this handy breakdown of the South Region to steer yourself back to the right path. There are some other great teams in this corner of th

    NCAA Tournament Breakdown: Midwest Region
    2008-03-18 22:43:00
Have you noticed that none of the "experts" are bringing you much in the way of upsets this year? Last year, with a tournament that was by our accounts light on Cinderella stories, has apparently made everyone a little gun-shy.But think about it. In years past, what has made the tourney so enjoyable? It's the upsets, baby. It's what's either ruined your bracket or made you the king/queen of the office, if only for a day after you picked Winthrop or Rider or Holy Cross on a whim.Well, we here at TJI think that when it comes to the Elite Eight and Final Four, the Cinderella stories will once again be sparse. But if there's a region where some drama might occur, it's the Midwest. Clemson and Vandy are a bit over-rated, as is chic upset pick USC, and Gonzaga is not the Gonzaga of old.And no one talks about the fact that Kansas, the region's number-one seed, hasn't beaten anyone all that impressive. Outside of their win over Texas in the Big 12 Championship, their resume doesn't have any W'

    NCAA Tournament Preview: East Region
    2008-03-17 23:26:28
The beasts of the East, UNC, must be ticked with the way things turned out. In order to make it to the Final Four in San Antonio, they might have to beat Louisville or Tennessee and/or Indiana and/or Notre Dame. That's not right. As the number one overall seed, they deserve an easier path to the Alamodome. But, as a consolation, their first four games would all be played in Carolina. A friendly crowd can be the difference maker in a tough game, so this is key.And while at first glance the other highly seeded teams in this region are tough, in actuality, they've each got issues: Louisville hasn't shown us any proof that they have what it takes to make a title run; Tennessee's zany and unpredictable coach might be their undoing; Indiana has the talent, but the upheaval is going to be too much to overcome. Only once in recent memory, Michigan in 1989, has a team in such turmoil been able to succeed in the tourney. And Notre Dame, a chic sleeper pick in the East, well, is Notre Dame and for

A region’s commercial real estate market can be a good bottom-line
    2008-03-16 03:26:00
Frustrated by time constraints at the skating rinks they use now, team leader JoAnn Divers and her Bakersfield Rollergirls simply want to lease a space where they can practice, store their equipment and host competitions.Perhaps ironically, their inability to find a suitable building hints at stability within the local economy.Unlike the tough times facing Bakersfield’s housing market, the city’s commercial real estate market remains relatively strong. Demand from local businesses — especially those in oil and agriculture — continues to fill or nearly fill commercial space around town.“You always need ag and you always need oil, so we’ve been somewhat sheltered” from the slowing U.S. economy, said Kym Moore, senior vice president and market manager in Rabobank’s Stockdale Highway business loan center. “I think investors (in commercial real estate) still look at Bakersfield as being somewhat a good buy.”

Calif. region has wine lover dreamin'
    2008-03-12 02:34:00
To define California wine is impossible. There are so many different appellations (defined wine growing areas with unique climatic conditions and soil make-up) that you literally have hundreds of little "wine states" within one big one. Many people have heard of Napa Valley and Sonoma Valley. These two regions are so beloved that they may as well secede from the state and form their own wine nation.Remove those two from the big picture, and you still have barely scratched the California surface. Thanks to the movie Sideways, the often-overlooked region of "The Central Coast" soared to fame. But Miles and Jack visited only the southern portion. The reality is that the Central Coast is one gigantic, all-encompassing, magical planet in its own right. You may recognize some of its "appellations" — Santa Barbara, Santa Clara, Santa Maria, Santa Ynez, Santa Cruz, Santa Rita and Santa Lucia. It is like Christmas all year round.

Venture capital for the region's biotech community plummeted by 45 percent last year, compared with 2006, even as biotech investments reached record highs nationally and the industry became the most venture-backed sector last year, according to a new report by PricewaterhouseCoopers and the National Venture Capital Association. For 2007, nearly $1 of every $3 in venture capital nationally went to a life sciences company. In this region -- which includes Maryland, Virginia, D.C. and West Virginia -- the ratio dropped to a little more than $1 of every $10 for biotech companies.

On your visit to Italy you probably already planned to visit top touristic cites like Rome, Venice and Firenze but still there is more to discover in this country. I wanted to watch a golf instructional DVD that I ordered from the US only to discover it wouldn't work on my player. Luckily in my country the high court ruled that region lockouts breached fair trade and market competition practices. This means that DVD players for sale need to be region free or be able to unlock. The problem is that you need a code to unlock your dvd player and computer DVD drive region lockouts are still in effect. With the software at http://www.dvdunlocker.com/ you can get the codes you need to unlock your DVD and the software to unlock the DVD region of your computers DVD drive. If you need play region free DVD then I recommend a visit to their website.

High interest among Singaporeans in visiting Kerinci region
    2007-12-23 09:46:10
Singaporean tourists show high interest in visiting Indonesia`s Jambi province, especially Kerinci district as its main tourist destination, the province`s deputy governor said. However, Singaporean holiday makers had still asked about transportation means at a recent event to promote Kerinci, Jambi Deputy Governor Antony Zeidra Abidin said here Saturday. The number of foreign tourists visiting Kerinci was still small due to inadequate access to the district, he said, adding that foreign tourists came to Kerinci usually through Padang, West Sumatra (some 200 kilometers from Kerinci). In an effort to increase the number of foreign tourists to Jambi, the provincial administration was planning to cooperate with tour and travel operators who were expected to help promote tourist objects in Kerinci. Singapore was expected to be Jambi`s main tourism market as the island state`s geographic location was relatively close to the province, he said. Thus, Jambi`s provincial administration was encouraging Kerinci`s district administration to continue developing natural tourist sites like Lake Kerinci, Mount Kerinci, Lake Gunung Tujuh, the Semurup baths and the Telun Berasap Kayu Aro waterfall. The district administration was also expected to soon complete work to extend the runway of Kerinci district`s Depati Parbo airport from 1,400 meters to 1,700 meters so that it could also accommodate wide-body aircraft. The Kerinci district administration would begin operating the airport in 2008. Riau Airlines was expected to conduct direct flights from Kerinci to Singapore vice versa, he said. In support of the land transportation system, the district administration had allocated billions of rupiahs to construct a by-pass road from Jambi City to Kerinci among other things. The 419-kilometer trip from Jambi City to Kerinci now takes between 10 hours and 11 hours on winding roads through the Kerinci Seblat National Park.Source: Antara

Touring Italy: Alto Adige Sub Region
    2007-11-22 08:46:00
If you are looking for a European tourist destination, consider the Trentino-Alto Adige region of northern Italy on the border of both Switzerland and Austria. Among its tourist attractions are the Dolomite Mountains, that the famous architect Le Corbusier called "The most beautiful work of architecture even seen," glacier lakes, and Alpine forests. In fact the region is composed of two parts, Trentino in the south and Alto Adige in the north. This article presents Alto Adige; a companion article presents Trentino. When you live in Alto Adige you have to declare your first language: choices include Italian (26.5%), German (69%), and Ladin (4%). There is a German-speaking majority in fully 103 of 116 communes, and only 5 have an Italian-speaking majority. We won't discuss the sometimes painful history of German-Italian relations in Alto Adige but are happy to say that the relations are now fairly good. As a tourist you'll be able to enjoy the two cultures. We'll start our tour of Alto Adige at Caldaro near the border with Trentino. Then we will proceed basically clockwise visiting Naturno and Bolzano (the regional capital and largest city), and then pass the following towns and ski resorts which we won't have time to visit on this tour: Chiusa, Bressanone, Brunico, and Dobbiaco. We resume visiting at Cortina d'Ampezzo, and proceed west to Canazei and to Lago di Carezza only about 22 kilometers (14 miles) from our starting point. We'll do something here that we haven't done previously. We present the place name in Italian and the German name in parentheses. Alto Adige, called Sued Tyrol in German, is still heavily German speaking and retains a distinctive Germanic, or more exactly Austrian, character.Caldaro (Kaltern) is a village of about 7500 residents that annually attracts over 400,000 tourists. So you know the basis of its economy. Its architecture is a pleasing combination of Italian Renaissance and German Gothic elements as exemplified in the historic Chur

Turkey Threatens to Invade Iraq, Destabilize the Whole Region - A Brief History of the PKK
    2007-10-10 01:32:43
As the United States works towards peace in the Middle East, one country is threatening stabilization. Who? One of America’s greatest allies: Turkey. The ruling Turkish party, the AK Party, said it would request the Turkish Parliament’s authorization for a ‘major incursion’, according to Reuters. The government there has come under increasing pressure, as the PKK rebel group has stepped up its attacks in the country.A brief history lessonThe PKK, or the Kurdistan Workers Party, is a Kurdish nationalist group listed as a terrorist organization by a number of states and organizations, including the U.S., NATO, and the E.U. The PKK’s goal is an independent, socialist Kurdish state encompassing northern Iraq, south east Turkey, west Iran, and parts of north east Syria. It has no qualms against using violence to obtain its objectives.Turkey has a large minority of Kurds, who feel that they have been treated as second-rate citizens since the creation of modern Turkey in 1923. The PKK has fought a deadly guerilla war since the 1970s that has claimed over 37,000 lives.Around the year 2000, following the capture of its leader, the PKK suspended military operations and called for a truce. This truce ended in 2004, and since then, the paramilitary group has increased the ferocity and frequency of its attacks.Oct 7: PKK fighters killed 13 Turkish soldiers, including 1 officer, after Turkish soldiers shot dead a suspected PKK fighter earlier in the day.Jun 13: 4 Turkish soldiers killed in multiple attacks.Jun 10: A bomb in Istanbul wounds 14 Turkish civilians. The PKK is suspected.Jun 7: 3 Turkish soldiers are killed by a PKK landmine.Jun 4: A PKK suicide bomber kills 8 soldiers and wound 6 at an army checkpoint.May 22: A suicide bombing hits Ankara killing 9 and wounding over 100. While no one claims responsibility the PKK is blamed by the government. The effects of a Turkish invasionObviously, a Turkish invasion would be destabilizing, especially with the size of the incursion Turkey is currently considering. It is worth taking into consideration that Turkey would like to see a powerful central government in Iraq to keep the Kurds and the PKK under control. It is also important to note that an invasion would most likely be most disruptive in the Kurdish region, where it is already peaceful, which means it would most likely not inflame Sunni-Shia tensions. What should Turkey do?It is in Turkey’s best interest to invade, but in the worst interests of the Bush Administration. A Turkish invasion would be a huge setback for the Administration. Sadly, there is very little the U.S. can do to stop Turkey. They have been a very close ally, but since the Iraq war, relations have cooled. Not so much as that the U.S. has no influence over what goes on in Turkey, but the Bush Administration has already spent the last 3 years trying to stop Turkey from sending in troops. If Turkey and its new president have decided they finally want to go and attempt to wipe out the PKK, the U.S. may be unable to stop them.

Visiting Urbania in Italy's Le Marche Region
    2007-09-05 20:12:00
Urbania, also known as Casteldurante, is a lively medieval town in central Italy's Le Marche region. Although it's in a scenic position in the hills, the town itself is flat and compact, making it pleasant for walking. Urbania makes a good base for exploring the region with good restaurants, bars, and a people-filled main square. Urbania has been a center for handmade ceramics since the 15th century. You'll see ceramics in the museums and also in workshops and stores where you can buy high quality handmade ceramic pieces. The Ducal Palace is well worth a visit as is the interesting Chiesa dei Morti Mummies Cemetery. The beautiful Renaissance hill town of Urbino is only 17km away, making it an easy day trip.

Calabria region of Italy sits at the brink of what could be a property-buying frenzy
    2007-08-28 03:18:00
As Europe's property markets develop, property investors are beginning to look elsewhere for opportunities. Calabria, in Southern Italy, could be one such opportunity, according to Debbie Espin of Overseas Property UK. Surrounded by clear silver-blue sea on three sides, Calabria is one of the warmest and sunniest corners of Europe. Even in mid-October, temperatures remain in the upper 70s. You'll find lemon groves, vineyards, and ancient chestnut woods, fishing villages, stone-built watch-towers, and donkeys carrying firewood. And wine festivals, religious parades, and a wealth of traditions that are deep-rooted rather than something dreamt up by the heritage industry. You'll see men playing centuries-old card games, women doing embroidery, and shepherds tending their flocks just as their fathers did.

    2007-08-25 00:46:00

    New Zealand's famous Marlborough region
    2007-08-23 14:43:00
Marlborough has always been considered New Zealand's top wine producing region and Spy Valley wines seem to be on a par with the best. Where the soil is too harsh for grapes, about 2,000 Italian olive trees have been planted with success. This is the kingdom of winemaker Ant Mackenzie, whose expertise has been confirmed by many awards and medals.Spending a few days with friends near Hua Hin recently.

    Burgundy - discover a gourmet region's finest
    2007-08-13 00:49:00
We based ourselves in a small, economical hotel in the canal-side village of Chagny and spent a couple of long days wandering along thin ribbons of hilly roadway from one hamlet to the next, pulling into minuscule townships bearing names like Pommard, Volnay, Mersault, Puligny-Montrachet and discovering that our itinerary read like a wine list. We roamed at leisure, stopped to sip wine, poked around shops in ancient buildings, peered into petite bakeries and aromatic cheese shops, looked around beautiful churchyards and cemeteries, and stuck our heads into pretty little inns that have been open for at least 200 years.
