    The Blessing Of Rejection
    2008-08-02 15:47:00
א' אב התשס"חLughnasadh 2Given the metaphysical reality of soul-friends as discussed in my previous entry (Anam Chara - Reyah - Soul Friend), it becomes clear that each of us, in our search for a coven or other esoteric group in which to belong, the concept of soul friend bonding is very important and consequential to successful shamanic magical mystical work. Necessarily then, to be 'rejected' from core membership into any particular coven or esoteric group should be understood through this concept. Each of us need to find our true place, the unique coven or esoteric group which will support Divine consciousness among the collective blend of soul friends. Finding our true soul friends takes time, commitment to pathwalking and patience. Likely, we will be rejected and we will reject others many times upon this quest. These rejections are not value judgments, but steps upon the way toward finding our true group of soul friends.I give thanks for the those times I have been rejected

How to Overcome Fear of Rejection in Dating Women
    2008-07-20 21:37:38
The real obstacle here is the fear.As I mentioned, fear of rejection, or imagining rejection when you should be imagining success, leads to walking away. You miss 100% of the shots you don't take.Ironically, I've found that the best way to overcome my own fear of rejection was to see that it wasn't going to actually happen. The more times I approached women and started conversations and the more I saw that women usually responded positively, the less I imagined things going wrong. This led to a positive feedback loop of me wanting to approach more women and have more success. Here are a few ideas for overcoming your own fear of rejection:1) Go out to a bar, and watch men approaching women.Take a Saturday night, and just go out alone. Find a seat at the bar where things are busy, and just watch.Make sure you visit a place that is really busy, so you can see a lot of people interacting. Now, pay attention. You'll begin to pick out the guys who are approaching a lot of women, asking them to dan

    Project Rejection
    2008-07-17 05:43:53
The other day, my groupmates went to our target company. With them was a letter telling the owner of the purpose of the project we were proposing. I was not able to come with them because of the essay writing I had to attend. After the deliberation, my members told me that the project was rejected. The owner told them that the company has already a programmer/hacker who is developing a new online reservation system. I think she was comparing us to the hacker/programmer and concluded that we are inferior compared to him. It's ok for us. We will look for some other interested companies.

    Post A Rejection Day
    2008-07-11 16:57:00
That's apparently what today has been declared. Several folks have already done it (Tobias Buckell, Justine Larbalesteir, Willow Fagan, and likely many others.).So, throwing aside personal integrity, I thought I'd do the same thing. So I decided I'd post two of them. No mentions of the stories or which markets, for obvious reasons. Here is the first one:Shaun,Thanks, but it's not for us. We look for the new, so we tend to stay away from the suite of elements like AI, wetware, near-future dystopias and so on which have become as ubiquitous in SF as wizards, fairies and monarchies are in fantasy. These ideas have been strip mined for more than twenty years now, and there's very little life left in them which doesn't depend on significant renovation from the familiar. We didn't find that here; instead, moments like this: [redacted]could have been lifted from any number of cyberhappy SF literature, movies and TV we've all seen before. That all roughly translated to "don't write cra

Handling the Fear of God’s Rejection
    2008-05-29 10:30:49
To overcome a fear of God's rejection, one needs a concrete decision to replace feelings with truth. Negative feelings about God most often stem from harmful relationships with authority figures in one's past, such as parents, or from improper religious education during childhood. It will take consistent effort since usually you are trying to correct decades of negative thought patterns.

Rejection Day and the End of Dreams
    2008-05-16 07:11:21
Wow, what a day. I never told most of you that I had applied for a couple of jobs over the past few months because I knew they were long shots and I didn't want to panic my employers. Well, relax, everyone, I'm not going anywhere. I got both of those rejection letters yesterday. The nice thing about my personality is that as soon as one dream dies, another one takes it's place. I already have a meeting set up on Monday to explore the next possibility, which will not materialize for months, if ever.Bart's day off is today and instead of going to the Y this morning, i waited to take a walk with him. So there will be no YMCA report. However, I did write an entry on my dieting blog about addiction last night. So I said goodbye to some dreams yesterday... but I'm OK. This week has convinced me more than anything before of the fact that I have a loving God, a strong faith, an incredible husband, and great friends...... So, even on "rejection day" I am grateful.

Madonna Burning Up Over Co-op Rejection
    2008-04-23 05:32:56
Although most of the time Madonna and Guy Ritchie reside in London where they are rumored to own as many as six townhouses in the Marylebone area, it's long been rumored and reported that she and the Mister are looking to expand their real estate empire in the Big Apple. The Kabbalah Kween has long called Harperley Hall her New York City base, a second tier building on Central Park West where the material girl first purchased a co-operative apartment back when she was married to actor Sean Penn. Now puppies, before we get scad of emails and phone calls, don't misunderstand Your Mama. We are not saying Harperley Hall is a pile of shit. It's a lovely full service building with well scaled pre-war apartments overlooking the park. It is not, however, The Dakota or The Beresford or even the San Remo, where poor Madge was famously rejected by the stiff co-op board when she tried to buy a three bedroom, $1,200,000 unit back in 1985.Anyhoo, over the years the material mommy purchased two more ad

To my dear Operations Manager,Thank you for sending me a response letter yesterday. After careful consideration, I regret to inform you that I am unable to accept your refusal letter to offer me a team leader position in your account.Last year, I have been particularly fortunate in receiving an unusually large number of rejection letters from different departments. With such varied and promising field of candidates, needless to say I am unable to accept all refusals at this time.Despite your outstanding qualifications and record of rejecting applicants, I find your rejection does not fit my needs at this time. Therefore, I will assume the position of team leader in your department effective tomorrow. I hope to see you on the floor or in one of your meeting soon. All the best in rejecting other applicants.Sincerely,Me

Rejection -- Artemis (short story, SF) -- by Analog SF
    2007-12-15 20:34:00
Well, I received a rejection from Analog SF today. There's some good news and some bad news. The bad news, obviously, is that it was rejected. The good news is that Mr. Schmidt actually left a comment on the rejection sheet (a form letter), which editors don't generally do, and especially not for a magazine that gets hundreds of submissions every month. The comment said:P.S.: Accurate punctuation is important, too. You should especially review format.Punctuation is something I'm really going to have to look at. I didn't realize I was using bad punctuation. Maybe I missed something, or maybe I made some error that didn't seem like an error, but to a seasoned editor like Mr. Schmidt, is a big no-no.As for format. I'm not 100% sure what he meant by that. I did follow the guidelines on the Analog website, which says:Manuscripts must be computer-printed or typed (check), double-spaced (check), on white paper (check), one side of the sheet only (check). Feelings of Rejection Lingering
    2007-10-09 13:29:00
photo by Ben Larson I had another dream last night about being rejected. This seems to be an ongoing theme to my dreams almost every night. Usually it is being rejected by men, being back in high school and getting rejected by boys I thought were cute for example. But last night’s dream had a twist. My best friend in the dream was Sara Jessica Parker (probably because I really got into the Sex and the City series and considered the relationship the women on that show had as my ‘ideal’ kind of friendship). But at the end of the dream, she decided she didn’t want to be my friend anymore and it really hurt. This brought me back to some real traumatic events in my youth that I was thinking about in the shower. A lot of blog post ideas come to me in the shower. I had a best friend all growing up that lived right down the street. We were the kind of friends that are inseparable, weekly sleepovers, secret clubs, dressing alike, the works. Only in eighth grade she decided to trade me in for someone else. The rejection I felt was awful. Suddenly I had no friends. Meanwhile those two girls became the most popular throughout high school. I struggled my first year in high school as many do but mainly because I really was all alone. I eventually made a friend with a fellow cheerleader. Her name was Laura. She wasn’t as pretty as me I thought and that gave me a sense of security. (aren’t girls horrible?) We became best friends and things started getting better for me. I had a boyfriend who I consider my first love. We dated off an on for several years. At one point when we were “off”, I found out that he and my “best friend” had hooked up. This too was devastating because I had no one to talk to about it. The two closest people in my life were the ones that had hurt me. This time I went into a mini depression. My grades fell and I became a bit of a recluse. I spent almost all weekends at home alone watching tv. This continued throughout my junior and seni

    Rejecting Rejection
    2007-08-29 21:06:00
photo by wuji9981It seems that when I am not having horrible nightmares of being shot and dying, I am having dreams of being rejected. The person(s) rejecting me vary from night to night, but the theme is always the same. I am usually back in high school confronting friends, or crushes, or old flames and all of them don't want to be around me for some reason. I spend the entire night pining for their acceptance and mourning over the lack of it. I feel sad, discouraged, and lonely all night long. According to Dream Moods, "To dream that you are being rejected, signifies a lack of self-worth and alienation of others."Another website about the symbolism of dreams says,"Rejection in a dream shows that the dreamer either is frustrated by non-acceptance or want to rid himself of certain feelings."This seems to go hand in hand with yesterday's post discussing Self-Esteem. Ok so I have already admitted that my self-esteem could use some work. But this is not some dream that I have now and then. I have dreams about this almost every night. I can't stand it. I wake up feeling awful. What a way to start the day. So I don't want to do it anymore. I actually emailed a local radio station that has a dream interpreter on it once a week to have her analyze one of my dreams. I can't wait to hear her feedback. I have heard that before you go to bed you can write your dream out in a journal and then change the ending to be whatever you want it to be. Then when you have your dream, the new ending will replace the old. I should try that. Maybe I just need a dream catcher.Any other suggestions of how to stop having these kinds of dreams? Does anyone have similar kinds of dreams? If you enjoyed this post Subscribe to The Reality of Anxiety or Add it to Your Technorati Favorites.

    My very first rejection letter
    2007-06-21 15:35:41
A bittersweet moment in any writer's life. I do wish I'd got my postcard back though. If any one happens to be passing through Granville Island Market in Vancouver any time soon, please go and see the mad postcard woman in the mall for me. It's the black and white photo of the little girl, clutching a pig and laughing. You'd make it into my will (assuming you're the sort of person who feels they could benefit from a collection of broken watches and a few fuzzy videos of Star Trek: The Next Generation taped off the TV. Still, it's possibly still a fair exchange for a postcard.) I keep looking at the letter and feeling perhaps inappropriately excited. I feel like I should be ticking something off a list, or running a line through the agent's name with a big fat black marker pen. As Adrian Mole said on receiving the response to his first submission, "it's a very nice rejection letter."

Appeals Court Upholds Rejection of Bengals Stadium Suit
    2007-06-19 20:34:05
The Associated Press reports that an antitrust suit claiming officials and taxpayers were pushed into financing a new stadium to keep the Bengals in Cincinnati was filed too late, a federal appeals court ruled Tuesday. The 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals three-judge panel unanimously agreed with a federal district judge who dismissed the suit filed by Hamilton County against the Bengals and the NFL because it was not filed within a four-year statute of limitations. County voters approved a half-cent sales tax hike back in 1996 for the $450 million Paul Brown Stadium, which opened in 2000. A 30-year lease was signed in 1997. The antitrust lawsuit was filed in 2003. By dismissing the suit, the courts didn’t specifically rule on the county officials’ claims that they were victimized by monopoly power. Circuit Judge Jeffrey S. Sutton wrote that the court didn’t need to decide whether there is an antitrust problem with the NFL’s control on its num

MILLIONAIRE SECRETS - Handling Rejection (Part 2)
    2007-05-26 16:40:00
HANDLING REJECTION (PART 2)Ok, now you're going to learn about how you can redefine rejection. First, you need to know how this feeling of fear are initiated. When we heard people said 'NO' to us, we will automatically attach to some sort of meaning to it. We will straight away think that we're the cause, maybe we will said something like 'yes, I know I'm not good enough', 'this proves that I'm not a good speaker'. But the actual situation is that the 'NO' has got nothing to do with us. It is just a neutral situation to which we attached meaning. So, how are you going to change this? Actually it is very simple, you can do a simple self-affirmation for the next 30 days. You can keep telling yourself this:'I'm good enough. In fact, I'm great enough!'Yes, this is it. Keep repeat this phrase 30 times every morning and it will instill deeply in your mind therefore you will become good enough. This will transform your life and your future positively. When people say 'NO' to

    Rejection Handling
    2006-06-28 14:31:00
Pleasant surpriseThis Monday morning I was in for a pleasant surprise. I was going through The Hindu Business Line and was reading Swathi CA’s column. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I read my name and blog url in the article. She was referring to a feedback I (and other readers) gave on her previous week’s writing. online edition of the column: http://www.thehindubusinessline.com/mentor/2006/06/26/stories/2006062600431300.htmThe biggest motivation for a writer is that there’re people who’re willing to read what he/she writes. Add to that the publicity in a national newspaper and he/she won’t be on grounds. I was literally floating on air for few hours on monday morning. There’s nothing worth boasting about all these but I was really happy yesterday. Last time my name was in media was way back in 2004 April when my article was published in Vijaya Karnataka. Two years is a really long time.Rejection Handling…The great response I received for “why we lie” has motivated
