| 13% of Seniors Report Being Mistreated | | 2008-08-29 05:45:00 | | (HealthDay News) -- A new study says that 13 percent of American seniors suffer mistreatment from various forms of abuse. The University of Chicago researchers said the chief forms were verbal abuse (9 percent), being taken advantage of financially (3.5 percent), and physical abuse (0.2 percent). The team also found that seniors with physical impairments were most likely to suffer verbal abuse."Older people with any physical vulnerability are about 13 percent more likely than those without one to report verbal mistreatment, but are not more likely to report financial mistreatment," study co-author Linda Waite, a professor of sociology, said in a university news release. The analysis of national survey data from 3,005 community-dwelling adults, ages 57 to 85, also found that adults in their late 50s and 60s are more likely to report verbal or financial mistreatment than those who are older."Perhaps the respondents are including fairly routine arguments, perhaps about money, with their spo | | By: Integrative Medicine (CAM) Blog | | |

For the same, when I execute the query in Analyzer, the value `#' is displaying in place of `BLANK' value for DATE and other Characteristic fields. Here, I want to show it as `BLANK/SPACE' instead of `#'. How to do this? I had a similar problem and our client didn't want to see # signs in the report. And this is what I did. I created a marco in Workbook as SAPBEXonRefresh and run my code in Visual Basic editor. You can run same code in query also as when you will refresh query this # sign will be taken care. You can see similar code in SAP market place. I will still suggest not to take out # sign as this represent no value in DataMart. And this is SAP standard. Unfortunately, that's not saying much. Jon Radbrink has penned a futuristic blade of a car that comes out looking for all the world like a Stanley Pocket Surform. The forward thinking doesn't stop with the Hobie-Cat exterior, there's plenty of future-dreaming inside the Nuaero. Pedals have been banished for a steering wheel-based setup that operates sort of like an aircraft yoke. Radbrink thinks that people's hands are better for driving than our feet - something about accuracy. Mhm. John must ride the train a lot; we see plenty of inaccuracies happening out there by people using all four extremeties. While we're all dreaming, the Nuaero is intended to be rendered in lightweight materials, so it would theoretically offer the space of a larger vehicle while only pressing the scales with the equivalent weight of a SMAR | | By: Car News

Alonso, of course, is a two-time world champion and one of the only drivers to repeatedly beat Schumacher to the title, while Kubica has proven himself a competent driver of the highest degree. Whether the reports are accurate, and whether Ferrari would just dump Kimi and Felipe like that remains to be seen.[Source: Tuttosport via Axis of Oversteer, Photo by WILLIAM WEST/AFP/Getty] Tag: Motorsports, Hirings Firings Layoffs, Ferrari, Rumormill | | By: Car News

The reason for this fact appears to be that individuals have control over the internet; it is the most democratic medium in history. They would much rather have the government tell others what to do, but want the government out of their lives.Nevertheless, Leftist professors and activists have convinced an enormous amount of people that since | | By: Copious Dissent - Your Daily Dose of Liberty

| | Jersey Journal report: Terrorizing employee at Hudson County Community College could cost Middle States accreditation | | 2008-08-12 05:17:00 | | A scathing report in today's Jersey Journal says Hudson County Community College's Middle States accreditation may be in jeopardy because of a "terrorizing" employee who has caused a clear conflict of interest.
The report says John Shinnick, vice president of human resources and communication, has publicly berated employees — and it also says Shinnick has "undue influence and authority" at the school. And that undue influence may just cost the school's Middle States accreditation.
"Whereas civilized discourse is the norm in an academic community, at HCCC there appears to be an atmosphere of fear and intimidation that permeates all levels of administration and members of the faculty," the JJ reports about the Middle States conclusion.

| | REPORT: Dolphins reach out to Pennington (updated) | | 2008-08-07 11:33:02 | | Well this didn't take too long, did it? Sure, we all figured this might happen, but already?
The Palm Beach Post reports that Bill Parcells, who drafted Chad Pennington, has already made early inquiries into him:
Bill Parcells and the Dolphins haven’t wasted any time reaching out to Pennington’s agent, Tom Condon, an NFL source said.
This was to be expected, I suppose. We all know how much Bill loves "his players" - almost in a mancrush kind of way it seems.
Now listen, I'm not one of those guys who doesn't want Pennington in Miami simply because he's a former Jet. But I'm not 100% for this, nor am I 100% against it. I'm very curious to know who the odd man out would be here. Is it Josh McCown, who this regime just signed a few months back? Is it John Beck?
Things are bound to get mighty interesting here.
**UPDATE 3:08pm** The Miami Herald also reports that the Dolphins are indeed interested in Pennington. Jeff Darlington writes:

The size of the state and local tax burden varies by state, of course, and changes over time within each state. In a new Tax Foundation Special Report, "State-Local Tax Burdens Dip As Income Growth Outpaces Tax Growth," senior economist Gerald Prante computes each state's combined state-local tax burden, accounting for taxes paid out of state. The nation as a whole paid 9.7% of its income in state-local taxes, down from 9.9% in 2007 primarily because income grew faster than tax collections between 2007 and 2008.New Jersey residents paid 11.8%, topping the charts. | | Camping with FBT: 8/5/08 p.m. camp report | | 2008-08-05 22:11:14 | | The conclusion of what had to be the least taxing training camp in franchise history was certainly a fitting end. With the heat and humidity still hovering heavily over the practice grounds for the evening session, the Jaguars took the field in full pads.
The list of players that were not participating this evening was the longest of training camp. The non-participants included Chad Nkang, Jeremy Mincey, George Wrighster, Reggie Williams, Brad Meester, Clint Ingram, Jerry Porter, Derek Landri (right knee), Troy Williamson (groin), and Clyde Edwards. Reggie Hayward was dressed out and participated in individual drills, but then stuck to the sideline for the remainder of practice.
The practice was pretty much a non-event compared to the session last night. The Jaguars were in full pads, but the only contact drills were toward the very end of practice when they went to red zone drills in the final 11 x 11 round of the evening.

| | Camping with FBT: 8/4 p.m. camp report | | 2008-08-04 22:37:44 | | With the public sessions of camp winding down to the final few, the Jaguars have been adding new wrinkles to the practices in an effort to continue to adding layers to their play book.
The team took the field shelled tonight, but contact was still kept to an absolute minimum. The humidity was up a bit, and the practice was a little bit more spirited than we have seen in recent days, with the blitz packages and defensive schemes becoming more complex and aggressive as they prepare for the upcoming pre-season game against Atlanta.
The players that did not participate in practice tonight included the usual list of suspects: Chad Nkang, Jeremy Mincey, George Wrighster, Jerry Porter, Reggie Williams, Derrick Harvey, and Brad Meester.
Porter did some running and stretching exercises before heading back to the locker room. Meester was in a sling, and appeared to be in pretty good spirits, agreeing to talk to the press after practice tonight. Reggie Hayward did no | | By: Big Cat Country - An Unoffical Jacksonville Jaguar

PALM BEACH POST PRACTICE REPORTHighlights include:
-Kendall Langford working with both first and second team at DE-Matt Roth seeing action at OLB-2 minute offense for all 3 QBs (1:15 on the clock from opponent's 48 yard line): Henne 4/7 with an INT; Beck 3/9, but should have had a TD to Jalen Parmele (it was a perfect pass but it was dropped); McCown 3/5 with a QB sneak up the middle for a TD-11 on 11: Henne 1/3 with an INT (not his fault, as his arm was hit as he threw); Beck 4/6 with a bad INT to Torbor
SUN-SENTINEL PRACTICE REPORTHighlights include:
-John Beck getting Omar Kelly's "gold star" for the day - he's making his push now. Besides looking good in 7-on-7s and 11-on-11s, he also threw a TD to Anthony Fasano during goalline work-Will Allen continues to play well - even catching the ball for interceptions (now if he can just do that in a real game)-Dan Carpenter and Jay Feely both hit 42 and 45 yard field goals | | By: The Phinsider

| | Training Camp Injury Report: Anthony Cotrone to Injured Reserve | | 2008-08-03 23:20:21 | | Jacksonville Jaguars fullback Anthony Cotrone will be placed on the Injured Reserve list according to Michael Wright of the Florida Times-Union. Cotrone was injured in Friday's scrimmage that brings to an end a promising camp for the undrafted free agent from the University of Maine.
Wright On:
Jaguars fullback Anthony Cotrone will go on the injured reserve sometime Monday after tearing his left ACL on Friday in the club’s scrimmage
...
The club anticipates filling Cotrone’s roster spot with tight end Isaac Smolko, who spent eight weeks on the practice squad last season before being placed on the active roster last November. The club cut ties with Smolko on June 16
Anthony was the subject of a bit of a hype fest, Vic Ketchman, our friend at Jaguars.com, was very high on his performance, both as a hard-hitting "flat-headed" fullback, and also for his 100% catching percentage during camp. Those are the words of New York Giants' defensive end Dave Tollefson, whom Coughlin will allow to leave the team for a few days next week to be present for the birth of his first child.
Amazing! It wasn't that long ago when no one would have ever said anything remotely close to that about Coughlin.
Tollefson's story, by the way, is an interesting one. Check out the nice piece of work by Paul Schwartz of the New York Post.
Jeremy who? Plaxico who? Kevin Boss and Domenic Hixon have taken advantage of their opportunities thus far in training camp and are drawing considerable amounts of attention.
The Star Ledger's Mike Garafolo has reports on Friday's practices. The morning session and the evening session.
The Dallas Morning News has an interesting look at the Giants' offensive line. Included is something I didn't realize -- the fact that the Giants are the only team in the NFC East without a first-round draft pick on its offensive line.

| | Camping with FBT: 8/1/08 p.m. scrimmage report | | 2008-08-01 23:23:45 | | The Jaguars took the field inside the friendly confines of Jacksonville Municipal Stadium tonight before a crowd of 12,109 eager fans wanting to get their first glimpse of the 2008 Jacksonville Jaguars in a scrimmage environment.
Most people came expecting to see a scrimmage similar to years past, but Jack Del Rio decided to shuffle things up a bit, changing the format from what had been done previously. Instead of a scrimmage, the fans were treated to the garden variety practice inside the stadium. There was no scoring, no real hitting, and a lot of fun for football fans.
The atmosphere inside the stadium was terrific. There was a new stadium announcer. Hopefully he is only a temporary patch as he is even worse than the regular guy.
It takes a lot to achieve that, but when the announcer actually refers to the starting quarterback for the Jacksonville Jaguars as David Jerrard, you know that there might be a slight problem in the booth.

| | Camping with FBT: 8/1/08 a.m. camp report | | 2008-08-01 13:02:59 | | The practice this morning was a very light session lasting about an hour. The players were in baseball caps, shorts, and shirts, so any expectation of real action was tossed out the window the minute they walked out of the stadium.
The players that did not participate in the drills this morning included Jerry Porter (on sideline with the bulky ice bags in tow), Jeremy Mincey, George Wrighster, Chad Nkang, Brad Meester, Reggie Williams, and Derrick Harvey.
The one interesting thing to note is that the rookie barbershop was open for business, and several of the newbies on the roster were sporting new hairstyles as they took part in practice. Some were more creative than others, but all were rather entertaining.
Quentin Groves had one of the more unique styles. Someone took the time to cut a spiral in his hair that encompassed his entire head.
Theo Horrocks was also given a pretty special cut, having rings shaved around the circumference of his noggin.& | | By: Big Cat Country - An Unoffical Jacksonville Jaguar

-Michael Lehan running around in circles as part of his ankle rehab
SUN-SENTINEL PRACTICE REPORTHighlights include:
-Practicing their pre-game chants (didn't know teams actually practice those)-Marlins manager Fredi Gonzalez hanging out with Bill Parcells

The weather could not have been more perfect as the team took the field this evening in shorts and shells for what was a relatively light practice session with the scrimmage on the agenda for tomorrow. The rain had cleared out several hours earlier, so the fields were much drier. It was a relatively cool evening with a nice breeze and a small crowd in attendance.
The injury list appears to be holding steady with Chad Nkang, Jeremy Mincey, Reggie Williams, Jerry Porter, George Wrighster, and Brad Meester missing the evening session for well documented health issues.
Porter was at the practice facility for a good portion of the session before heading back to the locker room, happily signing autographs on his way out. He had his leg wrapped heavily from just below the knee to his buttocks region, and with the ice packs that were on the back side of his leg, it was difficult for him NOT to | | By: Big Cat Country - An Unoffical Jacksonville Jaguar

Notes and Highlights
From DenverBroncos.com
-Injuries-
It looks like hydration will continue to be an issue as players are battling tight muscles. Pittman was the latest addition to the inactives as he sat out with a hamstring injury with Hillis and Mustard.
-Nickel Packages-
The team is looking at different nickel packages, including a Moss/Mallard/Ekuban/DOOM line, DJ and Boss doing the 'backing, and Bly, Champ, Foxy, Hamza and McCree doing the covering. The front six in particular with this group looks fast. It has been mentioned in several places that guys are knocking down passes on the defensive line, something we haven't talked about much when we consider the virtues of guys like Moss, Mallard, and Ekuban. And for a "short" guy, DOOM has a knack for getting his hands up too, swatting 7 last year...

| | Training camp report, 07.29 | | 2008-07-30 04:00:07 | | There seemingly hasn't been any movement in the Plaxico Burress situation. The Giants wide receiver still isn't practicing, and he still doesn't have a new contract.
Mike Garafolo reported Tuesday that it's not as if the Giants waited until the last minute to get a deal done. The big MG says the Giants actually reached out to Burress first to try and strike a new deal.
The biggest news from camp Tuesday was that Amani Toomer did not practice, sitting out with swelling in his leg.
Here are a variety of practice reports.

| | Camping with FBT: 7/29/08 pm camp report | | 2008-07-29 22:33:57 | | It rained most of the afternoon at the stadium. The clouds began to part around the time that the Jaguars were making their way out to the field for the second practice of the day. Conditions on the field were certainly a concern because of the weather, particularly on the field turf where any rain can create quite a slick surface. The field did not disappoint in that regard.
The team was back on the field in full pads. The players that did not participate in the evening session included Jerry Porter, Brad Meester, Jeremy Mincey, Chad Nkang, and George Wrighster. Reggie Williams and Mike Walker both participated in the evening session, and there may be some consequences as a result. There will be more on that later in the report.
Let’s get straight to the drills:

| | REPORT: Dolphins to sign Terry Glenn | | 2008-07-29 19:46:11 | | The Fort Worth Star-Telegram is reporting that the Dolphins are expected to sign WR Terry Glenn in the coming days.
Glenn, recently released by the Cowboys due to a dispute on an injury waiver, will be reunited with Bill Parcells, among others, in Miami.
I'll be very curious about two things here. First of all, what will the contract that Glenn signs with Miami look like? And two, how will Glenn be used? He's a very similar player to Ted Ginn. It'll be good for Ginn's development to have a vet like Glenn around. But I'm not so sure that I like the idea of a player like Glenn (who likely won't be around too long due to age/injuries) coming to Miami. Is he an upgrade? Sure. He certainly adds depth. But will he still be around when this team is finally contenders? Probably not.
This also makes some fan favorite underdogs like Davone Bess, Jayson Foster, and Greg Camarillo less likely to make the 53 man squad.
