TBL has the Giants finishing third in the NFC East behind Dallas and Philadelphia.
The explanation?
A dip is inevitable. Before an absolute tear in the postseason, this was just an underwhelming team riddled with potential.
I should be used to this stuff by now, but it still annoys me. I can live with picking the Cowboys. But, the Eagles picked ahead of the Giants? Based on what? Even TBL doesn't have a good reason.
This is unexplainable. It’s not because of supposed game-changing rookie DeSean Jackson. It’s not just because of Asante Samuel, either. The biggest reason could be because the Giants can’t possibly duplicate last season’s success.
Can anyone else recall the last time a Super Bowl champ got such little respect? I can't.
Giants make the best of a rainy day.

Here we go again with the lack of respect for Eli Manning!
The Sporting News is out with its rankings of the top 25 quarterbacks in the NFL. Eli is ranked 12th, and looking at the list just makes me shake my head.
Without even looking, I'm sure you can guess that Tony Romo is ranked ahead of Eli. If you guessed that, you'd be right. Romo is No. 7 on this list.
Romo being ranked ahead of Eli doesn't bug me as much as you might think. I'm getting used to the supposed "experts" being fooled by Romo's numbers and his celebrity status, and forgetting the bottom line -- which is that Eli has gotten the job done when it counts and playboy Romo hasn't.
It's several of the other names ahead of Eli that really have me ticked off.

He had been ill for the past five years but his condition was stable and he was on the VA hospital's waiting list for an operation. I didn't know he passed away until two days after the fact. Luckily he had a cell phone which I gave to him years ago and which I have been paying the bill ever since. He used that phone to call one of my brothers who was able to be at his bedside during his last moments of life.January of last year my mom was diagnosed with lung cancer after 45 years of smoking. I took a seven month leave of absence from work to care for her. March of 2006 the doctors gave up on her. They said she had only days to live and were treating her pain --- they had stopped all chemo and radiation therapy. I slept in the hospital room with her five nights after which I took her home against the doctors' wishes. I did not want her to die in a sterile, cold, hospital. The moment she got home she became lucid again and within days she was gaining strength. Before the doctors gave up on her, after one of her chemotherapy treatments she had an intestinal infection that destroyed her large intestines --- all of which were removed. She had an ileostomy with a bag attached to her abdomen to collect her waste. I changed that bag more times than I care to remember. In the Blackhawks-Red Wings game there was actually a fight. Patrick Sharp and Andreas Lilja had a spirited bout with Lilja landing two good punches on Sharp. Sharp also looked to land a punch but the decision goes to Lilja. In the Coyotes-Kings game there were three fights and rookie Jack Johnson was in two of them. First Daniel Carcillo and Jack Johnson dropped the gloves and had a spirited bout where both guys threw some nice punches, but the edge went to Carcillo. Both guys exchanged punches but Ivanans used his reach to hold out Gratton and throw punches at him. The decision goes to Ivanans in this fight. Near the end of the game, Shane Doan hit Jamie Heward into the Kings goalie and Jack Johnson went at Doan, Doan immediately dropped his gloves and started throwing punches at Johnson. Heward jumps in and everyone tries to get in there. Even Curtis Joseph came down the ice but no line brawl took place. I agree with the Kings commentator in that what Doan did was cheap. There's no reason to hit a player into the goalie in the final minute of the last game of the season. I had a lot of respect for him but seeing that, I lost some.In the Lightning-Thrashers game, Nick Tarnasky and Eric Boulton dropped the gloves and fought. I did not see this fight yet so I can't tell you about it. In the Ducks-Blue Jackets game, Ron Hainsey instigated a fight with Rob Niedermayer because Niedermayer boarded Zherdev.
