Official Answers to your referrals retirement questions
    2008-07-17 04:39:37
Since our announcement about retiring AdSense Referrals during the last week of August, we've noticed a number of questions in your blog comments and in our Help Forum. In this post, we'll address some of the most frequently asked questions. When you say 'AdSense Referrals' are being retired, does this only mean the program where I refer publishers to AdSense? No, all referrals will be retired. This applies to referrals for AdWords advertisers, as well as for Google products. What's the deadline for generating referral conversions once the program has been retired? In order for you to be credited for a conversion, the referred user must complete the required action by the last week of September 2008. However, please keep in mind that your referral units will no longer display after the last week of August. I have referral earnings in my account, but they haven't been included in a payment yet. Will I lose all past referral earnings? No. If you've had su...

    Don't Wait Till Retirement...

Cruise In EuropeWhen my mother decided to retire back in the early 2000, we thought that traveling was the next best thing for her to do. With 3 fully grown up kids who have finished schooling, and after spending more than 35 years devoting her time to her family and her job, it seemed the perfect time for her to go on a grand vacation. But later we realized that planning a trip at the age of 60 is much different than when you are planning a trip in your 20’s. My mother (now a widow) was not quite excited or interested to travel anymore, but agreed to go if we could come with her. However it was difficult then to piece our schedules together. In the end, instead of a grand cruise or a packaged tour she opted instead for a simple visit to some relatives in the US. That taught me one thing though, that I don’t want to wait until retirement to go on overseas vacations. Trips abroad are best enjoyed when one is young and still adventurous. New York CityBut whether one has a definite s...

Hatton Indeed Lied: De La Hoya Retirement Fight Moved To December
    2008-06-12 23:01:14
Ricky Hatton is scared of Oscar De La Hoya, and would rather fight Paulie Malignaggi in November to set up a fight with Manny Pacquiao, who was a Super Featherweight only a few months ago. As predicted here earlier, the Hatton camp blatantly lied when they used the excuse for denying the big payday as a scheduling issue. De La Hoya's final retirement fight will now be on December 6 against an...

Five Tips for 20-Somethings to Save for Retirement
    2008-06-04 12:52:00
Legend has it that Albert Einstein once called compounding interest the most powerful force in the universe. Unfortunately, that concept has escaped many of those who would benefit most from it: the 20-somethings who have entered the work force but aren't saving up for retirement. While it can be hard to justify saving for something that will occur decades into the future, financial advisors say its importance can't be understated. One reason is that Social Security is far from guaranteed: Without reform, the program will not be able to pay out benefits at current levels, starting in 2041. People who are 22 years old now would typically still have at least 10 years to go until retirement at that point.Another reason is that compounding interest makes saving early far more profitable than starting late.As an example, Vincent Barbera, director of financial planning at TGS Financial Advisors, offers two different scenarios: Person X deposits $2,000 into an IRA each year from the ages of 22 ...

Life settlement solution: take care of your post-retirement blues
    2008-05-31 20:51:35
The harsh reality of life is that no matter how hard we try, there are some things which are simply unpredictable. Perhaps, the only thing which we can do to face such a situation is, be prepared with resource which can help you diffuse it and having money is one method that can help you out in tackling this. Life settlement solution, as the very term says, helps you in settling and leading your retired life in peace. Retired life can get really difficult for you if you do not have the proper money and other resources to take care of all your needs. Today, with the invention of so many luxury items, we have become accustomed to using them and some of these luxuries have become a necessity for us. We work hard to make sure that we get a chance at using all these luxuries, but once we retire from work, having all these things in our life becomes difficult.Life settlement solution is a financial transaction that helps senior citizens to take care of their financial and other needs, post-r...

    Annika Sorenstam announces her retirement
    2008-05-15 20:12:18
ONCE, she was too shy to even try to win a tournament because she was afraid she would have to give a speech. Annika Sorenstam has proven a lot to herself and everyone else since then: playing well in a men's PGA Tour event, winning 10 majors and becoming one of the most dominant players in the history of women's golf. Now she has proved one more thing: that she has the strength to say goodbye. Sorenstam, 37, has announced she will retire after this season to pursue other interests. Top of the list is the desire to start a family. "This is something that came from the heart," she said at the Sybase Classic in Clifton, New Jersey. A winner of 72 women's pro tour events, including three US women's opens, a player who once shot 59 in a competitive round, Sorenstam said she intended to have one last shot at overtaking Lorena Ochoa and reclaiming the world No.1 spot. "I have other priorities in my life. I have a lot of dreams I want to follow, that I want to live," she said. Those dreams in...

30-04-2008: Civil service retirement age to be raised to 58 by Surin Murugiah PETALING JAYA: The government is set to raise the retirement age for civil servants to 58 years from the present 56 in response to a proposal by the Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs), sources familiar with the matter said. The decision to raise the retirement age had already been finalised by the government and an announcement would be made very soon, a source told The Edge Financial Daily. Cuepacs president Omar Osman, however, said the union was unaware of any such decision and had not heard anything from the government since its last meeting earlier this month. “Of course, we would welcome such a decision to raise the retirement age for civil servants. We hope it would be announced on May 1 or during the national-level Labour Day celebrations on May 3,” he told The Edge Financial Daily in a telephone interview. Retirement and Long Term Care
    2008-04-18 17:01:35
From Manulife Have you considered long term care in your retirement planning? Like many Canadians, probably not, but you might want to think again. The following questions and answers may assist you in understanding the need for long term acre planning.Q: I’m a boomer. How will my care needs in older age be different from my parents’?A: The makeup of boomers’ families is unique to any previous generation. We have fewer kids, experience more divorce, and our adult children migrate more frequently from city to city. This means we can’t rely on family as primary caregivers to the same degree our parents have. Life expectancy is also increasing, so if you’re lucky enough to live to age 85, there’s a strong likelihood you will require long term care. Q: Is it true that elderly women face more hardships?A: It’s certainly true in terms of long term care. Women often spend their lives as caregivers, but when they need old age care, there may be no one to turn to. Women tend to ou...

Anti-Aging Tips for Baby Boomers in Retirement
    2008-03-30 00:12:00
Many baby boomers in retirement are becoming more and more concerned with their health needs. Aging has become a reality, so they must take steps to improve or maintain good health and slow the aging process.According to a recent study by Herbal News Magazine, baby boomers born between 1948 and 1953 evaluated their general health more poorly than their elders, based on a similar study conducted in 1992. Perhaps this happened because the Baby Boom generation was generally less physically active than their elders had been, both at home and at work. Less physical activity and poor eating habits have led to many cases of diabetes, obesity, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure among baby boomers in retirement.Fortunately, it's not too late for baby boomers to become pro-active in their own physical well-being. These anti-aging and health tips can help.Use Herbs to Supplement DietHerbs have been around since the earth's beginnings and can often be found in seasoning and spices we use, p...

Putting Perspective on Buying That Retirement Home
    2008-03-29 14:04:14
A look at when to buy that retirement homeLife is full of challenges, that is just the way it is, past and future. What we make of life's challenges and how we react to them is what makes the difference. Today, the national economy is suffering due to an overexcelling real estate market in a few states such as California, Florida, and Nevada. Lax lending has hurt thousands of people and spilled over into the credit markets. All the country is not doom and gloom however. I read in today's paper that the unemployment rate in Oklahoma is just over 3%, the lowest in years upon years. Northeast Oklahoma is consistingly listed in the most affordable area of the country for both housing prices and cost of living. If you are thinking retirement, think Grand Lake and Grove in NE Oklahoma. You will find true four seasons climate, great small town living with big city services, short travel to city shopping and air travel, and great health care. All this at prices that are affordable and much less...

Speaking to church groups, a £5 overpayment and early retirement!
    2008-03-16 12:04:29
All Saints Church Mudeford Women's FellowshipOn 4 March I spoke for the third time to the Women's Fellowship at All Saints Church in Mudeford, just outside Christchurch. There were 26 there (including one gentleman who helps out with transport for their members) and I delivered my new-ish talk I Must Write That Down! (A Commonplace Book) which went well with this friendly bunch. The last time I had spoken there, I noticed later on that they had slightly overpaid me (£5 over the amount we had agreed). They were appreciative of the fact that I had pointed this out to them and we adjusted my fee this time to allow for this. Clubs and societies mainly derive their income from subscriptions, raffles, etc, and, as new members are not always easy to attract, every penny counts. I always stick to the fees and expenses that I have quoted.Years ago, a speaker in my area told me that he had just passed an audition for inclusion in a nearby county's WI Speakers List and had submitted details of hi...

Life settlement: lead life gracefully after retirement
    2008-02-17 12:20:00
By William Regal Life is unpredictable and it is not always a bed of roses, often one will have to face the ugly site and see the harsher realities of life. When a person is young and earning money, in other words having a steady flow of money every month, life seems to be running smoothly and everything in life seems to be fine. However, all of us must realize that nothing in life remains constant and so we must be prepared for all changes and eventualities that life throws in for us. So what... Nine Retirement Killers
    2008-02-11 10:20:00
by Robert Brokamp Retirement is the No. 1 goal of investors. Yet, looking at the numbers, it's clear that many investors are undermining their good intentions with unfortunate actions. Here are nine mistakes to avoid if you want your retirement dreams to become a reality.1. Cracking your nest egg before retirement. A study by Hewitt Associates found that 45% of workers cash in their 401(k)s when they switch jobs. In other words, they take the money -- paying income taxes and a 10% penalty if they're not yet 59 1/2 years old -- rather than leave it in a retirement account. That's no way to build the retirement of your dreams. When you change jobs, you can transfer the money in your employer-sponsored retirement plan to an IRA, which will allow the money to continue growing tax-deferred. You might also be able to leave the money in your old plan or transfer it to the plan at your new job, depending on the plans' rules. But your best bet is the IRA. You'll have many, many more ...

    Shaq and Retirement
    2008-01-24 20:44:00
Today, Ira Winderman of the Sun-Sentinel wrote a story suggesting that Shaq retire because it is in both his and the franchise's best interest to do so.What was most intriguing about Ira's article was the confirmation he received from the NBA offices that if Shaq were to send in retirement papers today, then next season his salary would be wiped from the books. Presumably if he were to wait until after the season, then only the 2009 salary would be waived. This possibility got me excited enough to dream of Elton Brand and Luol Deng signings next season and a Heat resurgence. However, it took less than a day for my hopes to be dashed. In response to several journalists' suggestions to retire, Shaq told Jack Ramsey on ESPN Radio:"No, never that. I am the son of an army drill sergeant, and when we enlist, we go full term. So I've got two years left on my term, and after that, I'll be looking to do other things."So much for that idea. I have to say that Shaq's attitude isdeflating as a Miami Heat fan. I love the guy, and I really do wish he was capable of contributing at the level his salary demands, but he just isn't. And things will only get worse from here. Imagine how creaky Shaq's knees will be in the 2009-2010 season.Unless they get rid of his salary, this team is going to be stuck in the basement for a while. At some point Pat Riley will have to tell Micky Arison that ticket sales and marketing revenues thanks to Shaq's celebrity won't be outweighing the cost of having that dead weight on the books. Since Shaq clearly refuses to accept defeat (an admirable quality, I'll give him that), only Riley can possibly save this franchise from the horrifying prospect of being a last place team the next 3 years and then have its star leave for greener pastures....

    Retirement planning: Start out strong
    2008-01-11 23:28:00
To make their long-term dreams come true, Jodi and David Lewis, ages 26 and 27, need to be as serious about savings as they are about their careers.By Yuval Rosenberg, Money Magazine contributing writer January 9 2008: 1:58 PM EST(Money Magazine) -- When you're young, the most important thing you can do financially is get off to a good start. Jodi and David Lewis have certainly done that - at least when it comes to their jobs. Jodi, a development director for a nonprofit, was the youngest person ever elected to the Piedmont, Okla. city council. David is a regional manager for a staffing company, has written a book on leadership and was recently named one of the area's "Achievers under 40" to watch. And though he lost a 2004 run for state representative, David says he'd like another try at politics someday. But for this to happen, the Lewises have to shore up their finances. That's because a career in public service could cut David's income by more than half. Meanwhile, like other couples their age, the Lewises are thinking about starting a family soon - and hope to retire young. "We've got four or five different irons in the fire," says David. "It's going to take some financial freedom to make everything possible."Where they are nowOn paper the couple's finances appear to be on the fast track, at least relative to those of other workers their age. Combined, these high achievers earn $135,000 a year. They own a $130,000 home, as well as a rental property valued at $100,000. But like other twentysomethings, the Lewises have done their fair share of spending - especially since getting married in October 2006. "We took three vacations, updated the wardrobe, did a home improvement project," David says. This explains why they have only a modest $11,000 emergency fund. And they still owe $25,000 in school and car loans and $5,000 on their credit cards. But David and Jodi say they're now ready to ratchet up their savings. What they should doTheir first investment go...

    Put Your Retirement Business Here
    2008-01-08 19:09:43
Great Spot Close to Grand Lake/Grove OK-Priced RightMany retirees would like to have a small home based business. Some of these businesses are selling wooden lawn furniture the owner has made, craft type items, flea market items, building and selling golf cart/lawn mower trailers and so on. The thing that hinders so many is having a location that is affordable.Well, look no more. Aaron and I just listed a 1/2 Acre parcel on Highway 59, just North of Grove, OK. Highway 59 is the main highway leading into town from the North. This listing includes a small one bedroom home that could be lived in, rented, or used for an office. It also has a large shop/barn with concrete floor to make your goods in or store product. The barn has a lean to for parking your pickup. The property has it's own water well. You can be in business here for the low purchase price of $47,500. Where else can you buy prime highway frontage with a large traffic flow moving at slowdown speed. The office or home and barn need little to be ready for your venture. The property is owned by an estate and late owner's heirs live out of state, so property sells as is, but it needs little. Check it out. You won't find deals like this often. The home would also make a good rental property.Call Aaron at 918 801-5645 or Joe at 918 640-3300. Check out our web site for this and other great listings in the Grove/Grand Lake, Oklahoma area.See AlsoRetirement Business Location Priced Right at Grand Lake, Grove, OKFind your retirement craft business, flea market, ect location here...

    Retirement with Real Estate
    2007-12-07 08:07:00
CNNMoney.com had an interesting article on Monday about buying real estate inside of your IRA. It made me think of all the reasons why baby-boomers need to consider (if they haven't already) why they should own real estate as they enter into retirement. Here are a few that I can think of:1. Buying real estate now, at rock bottom prices, you will have the opportunity to see your money grow as your equity grows. The huge amount of people facing foreclosure will keep them out of the house-buying market for about 7 years. That will be 7 years of a booming rental market where you should have few problems finding qualified tenants to make your mortgage payments for you.2. You can always sell it if you need cash. When you buy real estate low enough, you have the comfort of knowing that you can always sell it quickly if you need to. 3. Tax deductions! There are a lot of ways to deduct taxes from investment properties. Did you know that you can write off DEPRECIATION from a rental property that produces an income?4. Snag that smaller place just incase. You may be living in that big house and the kids are leaving for college. You want to downsize but now just isn't the time for you to move out. Take advantage of todays low prices and lock in that dream cottage! Go ahead and buy it, enjoy the tax breaks and the positive cash flow from a renter while you wait. When the time is right and you're ready to move, you already have plenty of equity in the house. You can either enjoy that in the form of a home equity loan, keep it where it is or even use it to refinance so that your monthly payments are much, much lower. If you would like to discuss real estate investment strategies, whether you are just getting started or about to retire, give me a call today.
