| Camping time at Roanoke Rapids | | 2008-06-22 03:04:00 | | But this week, the Roanoke Rapids High coaches were busy conducting a camp for youngsters in the third through eighth grades on the Yellow Jacket campus. The camp was a three-day basic skills camp.Head coach Russell Weinstein, assistant head coach and defensive coordinator Pete Edwards and offensive line coach and jayvee coach Chris Hill put the young footballers through the basic skills to improve their techniques. Most of the boys have either played or will play in the local midget football league this season.Edwards noted that the idea is “for the boys to learn the basic fundamentals and have an understanding about the work that goes into football. The kids have given us the effort and they have worked hard.”
