    A Roller Coaster Ride - Cubs 11 Astros 7
    2008-08-05 21:53:49
Game One Hundred Fourteen - Cubs 11 Astros 7 WP - Bobby Howry (4-4, BS 3) LP - Chris Sampson (5-4) Save - None What a day and what a game at Wrigley Field on Tuesday afternoon. A combined 18 runs on 25 hits were scored between two long time rivals in an afternoon that can simply be described as a hitter's day at the Friendly Confines. The Cubs offense jumped on Wandy Rodriguez early and often and before the 3rd inning began Lou Piniella's crew was up by a 6-1 score. But the Cubs were unable to tack on to their lead and the always dangerous Astros' offense, led by Carlos Lee, scored 6 unanswered and led 7-6 when Reed Johnson stepped to the plate in the bottom of the 7th inning. Johnson led off the inning with a single to right center and advanced to 3rd on a double to right by Mark DeRosa on a ball that was misplayed by Hunter Pence. Kosuke Fukudome hit a deep fly to center that scored Johnson to tie the game at 7. Daryle Ward pinch hit for Henry Blanco and was intentionally walked by...

    Bracing for a roller-coaster recovery
    2008-06-20 22:33:00
An economic rebound may be far in the distance, but stocks usually stabilize first. Here's why the market should wobble in place in the second half of the year.By Alexandra Twin, CNNMoney.com senior writerNEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- An economic and housing rebound may be a ways off but Wall Street is already in recovery mode. And that should translate into happier times for investors during the second half of the year.It won't be a smooth ride, though. In fact, the next six months may feel more like stepping off the Tilt-A-Whirl at an amusement park. You're no longer really moving, but you still feel queasy."I think we're in a trading range, but it's a broad one and you can have a lot of volatility," said Beth Dater, chief investment officer at AG Asset Management. In fact, there doesn't appear to be any catalyst for a broad rally or a steeper selloff, Dater explained. While stocks are still poised to end the year lower, the decline will not nearly be as substantial as the loss accrued i...

Married 8 years today - what a roller coaster ride
    2008-06-17 10:04:13

What we don’t count on is the stress involved in merging two personalities, habits, routines, money, closets and other stuff. Not to mention that it can be difficult [...]...

    My Roller Coaster
    2007-12-16 02:18:13
Simon says was fun for a little while. But looking back, I really don’t understand the appeal of being jerked around like that. That is, after all, what the game is all about — doing everything Simon says, no matter how ridiculous or absurd it may seem. Along the way it gets old. I have [...]...

    What Drives the Roller Coaster
    2007-12-02 07:32:00
Holiday sales might be one factor in the growth or decline of the chemicals industry. However, other shifts (including the cost of raw materials or home and auto sales for example) in the macro economy will invariably have an impact on production and sales. Perhaps the chemicals industry has an even...

    My Roller Coaster Week
    2007-06-12 12:34:52
The photo in this entry is My Appreciation. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. This past week has been filled with ups and downs. The best thing about it was that I got a letter in the mail telling me one of my photos is getting published. (Woohoo!) The worst thing, my laptop stopped functioning due to a very dirty keyboard. I took it to be repaired yesterday. Besides that, I got a jury summons for next month, a few more photo shoot gigs lined up before the end of the year, I found out that I actually start my college art class next month, and my new nephew Andrew was born. I also managed to write a journal entry, I haven't written anything in a while. While my laptop is in for repair I'm using my mother's desktop computer as back up. She has graciously allowed me to take over her computer for my needs. :D I have owned my laptop for nearly four years, this is the first time it ever gets repaired. The problem is hardware though, which is o.k. because I don't mess with....
