Rolls-Royce creates special Peony edition Phantom for UAE
    2008-08-25 07:51:00
Wealthy customers in the United Arab Emirates seem to have a penchant for special editions of the most expensive luxury saloons. As if it wasn't enough to get the Maybach Landaulet revealed right there on their home turn, one Arabian customer recently ordered a custom gilded Rolls-Royce Drophead. Now Rolls-Royce has followed up with a special edition of its Phantom limousine targeted specifically for the UAE.Called the Peony edition, the bespoke Phantom borrows its name from the indigenous Asian flower that symbolizes royality in ancient Oriental culture. The car features a special two-tone pearl blue exterior and Seashell interior, emblazoned with the peony floral motif. It even comes with a complementary bottle of perfume specially crafted by Emirate fragrance specialist HIND. The special edition was created by the Rolls-Royce Bespoke Program, which does the bulk of its business with Middle Eastern customers. No word on how many will be built or how much it costs, but if there was e

    Pics Aplenty: Pininfarina Rolls-Royce Hyperion
    2008-08-20 15:59:00
Spend enough time roaming the streets of Rome and you're likely to encounter a fair share of people who fancy themselves more Catholic than the Pope. No wonder, then, that the Italians have now tried to out-Rolls-Royce Rolls-Royce, presenting a one-off drop-top Drophead that endeavors to embody an even greater presence than the Phantom cabrio itself. The Pininfarina Hyperion was unveiled just this past weekend at Pebble Beach, and our man Drew was on hand to bring you the best shots of the one-off coachbuilt special from the show stand as it was unveiled and from the fairway where it was displayed in all its glory. But just in case you didn't get enough, Pininfarina has released ten more high-res shots of its one-off Roller for your viewing pleasure. A Matter of Taste: Rolls-Royce delivers golden Drophead Coupe to Abu Dhabi
    2008-08-15 15:34:00
It says a lot about a place when a gold-gilded Rolls-Royce comes across as the most tasteful thing we've seen there recently, but so it is. Following the gold-accented Camry spotted in neighboring emirate Dubai, a brand new Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe has been delivered to its new owner in Abu Dhabi. But this convertible is distinguished by a gold paintjob and an actual gold-plated Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament (Seriously, the owner couldn't spring for a solid gold hood ornament?).The car was created as part of the Rolls-Royce Bespoke Program, which allows customers to specify all manner of optional extras, both inside and out. Of course, this example was also fitted with the optional stainless steel hood, twin coachlines, teak rear deck and Rolls-Royce emblems etched into the headrests, but the gold touches put it over the top and square into evil arch-villain status.[Source: Motor Authority and AME Info] Tag: Convertibles, Rolls-Royce, Special Limited Editions

Baby Rolls Royce RR4 for Geneva Motor Show 2009
    2008-08-11 08:09:00
Evidence that super luxury car marques are downsizing will come no clearer than Roll Royce’s RR4 concept, a car confirmed to be on its way by later 2009 or early 2010. Although sharing some componentry with the all-new BMW 7 Series, RR4 will not be as explicit in showing it as say, Volkswagen Touareg/ Porsche Cayenne/ Bentley Continental Flying Spur. Physical appearance is strongly linked to Phantom. Traditionally of late Rolls Royce has shown off its newest concepts at Geneva and that doesn’t look like it’s going to change. Remember 100EX and 101 EX? We wonder then if RR4 will be codenamed 102EX?The RR4, which is still a kind of code name, will cook up a storm with a twin-turbo V8 petrol and hybrid engines>, as well as another unnamed special motor said to be a V12. Diesel is also on the cards and may even show up in the hybrid. Smaller and narrower than the sizeable Phantom, the RR4 will be used as the entry-level model to help customers get into the RR dream, only at around

    Exceedingly Adequate: 1040-hp Hemi-powered Rolls-Royce
    2008-07-22 06:35:00
Remember back in the day when the engine output on a Rolls-Royce was listed as "adequate" or "more than adequate"? We don't know what the old guard would make of this, but adequate doesn't even come close. This vintage Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow has had its "ordinary" 6.75-liter V8 swaped out for a 592 Hemi, complete with dual-stage nitrous system for a reported output of over 1,000 horsepower. The chrome engine popping out of the hood might not be the average Rolls buyer's cup of tea, as it detracts from the usually-dominant classic grille, but the leather-covered roll cage is pure class. And here we thought the modern day Phantom was powerful enough as is....[Source: SouthFloridaStangs via CarScoop] Tag: Aftermarket, Sedans Saloons, Etc., rolls-royce,

    Pininfarina creating custom Rolls-Royce Hyperion
    2008-06-26 08:13:00
Pininfarina is working on a new privately-commissioned one-off based on the Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe. Ordered by an as-yet unnamed collector, the vehicle will bear the name Hyperion from ancient Greek mythology and is stylistically inspired by the pre-war Rolls-Royce automobiles.Coachbuilding for individual clients is becoming an important part of Pininfarina's business, as automakers worldwide are outsourcing to independent carrozzerias less than they used to. Following in the footsteps of Peter Kalikow's lightly modified Ferrari 612 K and Jim Glickenhaus' more radical Enzo-based Ferrari P4/5, the Hyperion is anticipated to debut at Pebble Beach in August.[Source: Automotive News Europe – subs. req'd]

Rolls-Royce releases official sketches of new RR4
    2008-05-28 12:56:00
We've seen plenty of photoshopped renderings of Rolls-Royce's next effort, the RR4, but this morning, the BMW-owned British luxury icon released the first official sketches of the new car. The RR4 won't be coming to market for another two years, but its design is complete and vehicle development and testing is well underway. The marque's Goodwood factory is undergoing renovations that will allow its production lines to accommodate the full Phantom range as well as the new RR4.Based on the sketches, it looks like the RR4 will be retaining the same long-hood, high-beltline proportions as the Phantom series cars. Although rumors have had the RR4 being built on a derivative of the new 7-series platform, Rolls isn't saying anything about that right now. The car will apparently have a unique new engine not shared with any other models. The RR4 will be launched initially as a sedan, though two-door variants, both fixed- roof and convertible will inevitably follow. This year marks the ten-year anniversary of Rolls-Royce falling under non-British ownership, and BMW stewardship has served the company well, both where reliability is concerned—soiling your Savile Row suit as you dive under the hood to fix an oil leak or track down an electrical short is a blessedly rare occurrence—and in the proliferation of new models.Applying the large-scale manufacturing practice of platform-sharing, BMW has been able to flesh out what is—for Rolls—a large and varie

    Baby Rolls-Royce Coming In 2010
    2008-02-15 09:04:14
Inside Line is reporting that the baby Rolls-Royce will go on sale sometime in 2010. The new model won't share an engine with a current BMW product, but it will be based on the new 7-series platform. The spy shots of the car, which we've previously posted, indicates that testing is well underway and it's been confirmed that the company will build the new model at its Goodwood facility. There's no definitive date for the debut, but Rolls-Royce execs expect the RR4 (code name of the small Royce) to push the automaker's sales well over the 1,010 vehicles it sold last year.

    Rolls-Royce Phantom by EDAG
    2008-02-14 10:10:00
The multi millionaires and billionaires of the world have a rough life, so tuning company EDAG has decided to make things a little easier for them. Debuting at the Geneva Auto Show the EDAG Rolls-Royce Phantom has an articulating roof design that eliminates the need for rear passengers to duck down as they enter the car.Inspiration for the roof opening comes from what EDAG considers an oversight by Rolls-Royce. In factory models the C-pillar was purposely created extra large so rear passengers would have the sense of additional privacy and security. This however results in a rather difficult entry and exit from the vehicle, even for people of average height. To correct this problem EDAG had to use carbon fiber reinforcements in the roof and modify the interior ceiling with original components from Rolls-Royce to create a seamless appearance. To open the roof panel the driver or passenger simply presses a button, and then the hydraulically powered roof segment will rise in a smooth silen

If so German coachbuilder Mutec has created the solution, by introducing a version of the Phantom that has been stretched 43 inches. As an official Rolls-Royce coachbuilder, Mutec features world class craftsmanship with modifications that look like they came straight from the factory. Rolls-Royce Celebrates Record 2007 Result
    2008-01-09 17:13:00
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars saw sales in 2007 increase by 25 per cent, compared to 2006, with retails of 1010 cars. This is the first time that annual sales have reached four figures and the fourth successive sales increase since the company was launched in 2003. There was strong demand for all Phantom models, with the four door versions (Phantom and Phantom Extended Wheelbase) remaining the best sellers and accounting for 75 per cent of the total. However, it was the exceptional demand for the new Phantom Drophead Coupé, launched in the summer, which drove the volume increase. Production capacity at Goodwood was maximized by working extended shifts. “Everybody at Rolls-Royce is delighted with this tremendous result which marks our fifth anniversary in the best possible way,” said Ian Robertson, Chairman and Chief Executive. “It confirms Rolls-Royce as the most desirable brand in the super luxury market and is a credit to the passion and dedication of our teams at Goodwood and around the world. The customer reaction to the Drophead Coupé has been astonishing, exceeding all our expectations.” North America remained the biggest single market for Rolls-Royce in 2007, accounting for 40 per cent of sales and showing growth of 22 per cent. Exceptional performances were seen in the United Arab Emirates and in China which grew by around 70 and 50 per cent respectively. The Rolls-Royce dealer network expanded to 80 in 2007, with new showrooms including St Petersburg, Kiev and Dresden. The top selling dealers worldwide in 2007 were, respectively, Beverly Hills, London, Abu Dhabi, Tokyo and Dubai. Abu Dhabi saw the highest annual increase, with sales more than doubling. Looking ahead in 2008, Rolls-Royce has announced its intention to launch a two-door coupé model, based on the Phantom, in the summer. Further into the future a new Rolls-Royce model series, to sit alongside the Phantom models, will be launched in 2010, currently named RR4.

    Funny jokes-Rolls Royce

A guy driving a Yugo pulls up at a stoplight next to a Rolls-Royce. The driver of the Yugo rolls down his window and shouts to the driver of the Rolls, "Hey, buddy, that's a nice car. You got a phone in your Rolls? I've got one in my Yugo!"The driver of Rolls looks over and says simply, "Yes I have a phone."The driver of the Yugo says, "Cool! Hey, you got a fridge in there too? I've got a fridge in the back seat of my Yugo!"The driver of the Rolls, looking annoyed, says, "Yes, I have a refrigerator. "The driver of the Yugo says, "That's great, man! Hey, you got a TV in there, too? You know, I got a TV in the back seat of my Yugo!"The driver of the Rolls, looking very annoyed by now, says, "Of course I have a television. A Rolls-Royce is the finest luxury car in the world!"The driver of the Yugo says, "Very cool car! Hey, you got a bed in there, too? I got a bed in the back of my Yugo!"Upset that he did not have a bed, the driver of the Rolls- Royce sped away, and went straight to the dealer, where he promptly ordered that a bed be installed in the back of the Rolls. The next morning, the driver of the Rolls picked up the car, and the bed looked superb, complete with silk sheets and brass trim. It was clearly a bed fit for a Rolls Royce. So the driver of the Rolls begins searching for the Yugo, and he drove all day. Finally, late at night, he finds the Yugo parked, with all the windows fogged up from the inside. The driver of the Rolls got out and knocked on the Yugo. When there wasn't any answer, he knocked and knocked, and eventually the owner stuck his head out, soaking wet."I now have a bed in the back of my Rolls-Royce, " the driver of the Rolls stated arrogantly. The driver of the Yugo looked at him and said, "You got me out of the shower to tell me THIS?!?!"

Oldest Rolls Royce Auction Sold For $7,275,000 in London

The world's oldest Rolls-Royce car was sold out for a high record price of 3.5 million pounds ($7,275,000) at an auction in London at Monday. The surviving oldest Rolls-Royce car, made in 1904, broke two records for the most expensive Rolls-Royce ever and the most expensive pre-1905 car.The bidding of this oldest Rolls-Royce started at one million and soared from there. After a battle between two telephone bidders, the price of oldest Rolls-Royce end at the new record, and the vehicle got a new owner of a private British collector. The previous record for a Rolls-Royce was the price created by the 1912 Silver Ghost Double Pullman Limousine for 1.48 million pounds (3.04 million dollars). And the previous record for a veteran car was 1.76 million pounds for a 1884 De Dion Bouton. This oldest 1904 Rolls Royce car is the only Rolls-Royce qualifying on the basis of its pre-1905 date to take part in the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run, which makes it extra special," said Tim Schofield, head

    Jesús viaja en Rolls-Royce
    2007-12-05 12:32:00
