| | Matt Jones: Rumors and Speculation | | 2008-07-18 15:57:48 | | Rumor:
There's a rumor flying around that Matt Jones is in Jacksonville today and meeting with the Jaguars.
There's also the classic public relations news of dropping "bad" stories late in the afternoon on Fridays, when the cycle is shut down for the weekend. If Matt Jones is in Jacksonville, and IF the Jaguars are going to cut him, late afternoon on Friday is a good time to do it. This happens all the time in politics, typically in the form of a news dump at 4:50 on Fridays in Washington. By the time Monday comes around the perception is that the story is old news and gets passed over.
I've not found any hard confirmation that Matt is in the building, but there's enough smoke here to suspect some sort of fire. As soon as I do, I'll update this accordingly.
Speculation:
There's no way the Jaguars open training camp on Friday with Matt Jones on the roster. The intimacy of players and fans, as well as the distaste toward Jones by his teammates because of per | | By: Big Cat Country - An Unoffical Jacksonville Jaguar

| Phillies Rumors: Phils Turning Attention to Blanton | | 2008-07-17 08:44:25 | | Clearly Pat Gillick has been a frequent visitor to ReclinerGM and saw that the public didn't think that A.J. Burnett was a very good idea. In response, he has turned his attention to a different target, A's pitcher Joe Blanton.
According to ESPN.com, talks on Blanton have "accelerated," possibly by the realization that Adam Eaton, as mentioned in the Phillies mid-season review, is literally the WORST starting pitcher in baseball. | | By: The Recliner GM Sports Blog

| | Phillies Rumors: Pitcher In? Burrell Out? Happ Gone? | | 2008-07-10 14:17:45 | | Lots of Phillies new to talk about today. First of all, if you listen to sports talk radio, you'll hear the people on air talk about how the Phillies didn't make enough of an effort to get Sabathia. They are being the same old Phillies, blah, blah, blah. Of course, these guys have exclusive access to the phone calls between the GMs, so there's no way it could have gone any different! However, if they did their research, they would know that the Indians wanted to Major League ready impact bat as part of the deal, and we don't have one in our system. On the good side, it looks like they went hard after him, and will continue to pursue a top starter. | | By: The Recliner GM Sports Blog | | |

Trade rumors involving the Cubs are a hoppin'.
We start off with the The Sun Times, who think the Cubs should run right out to their local Walgreens and pick up a Rich Harden.
The Cubs have spent a lot of time on the phone recently with Oakland Athletics general manager Billy Beane trying to pry away right-hander Rich Harden. Expect the phone lines to start burning a little hotter beginning today.
Beane's in a tough spot. This season was supposed to be about rebuilding -- at least, that's what he told us last winter after dealing pitcher Dan Haren to the Arizona Diamondbacks and outfielder Nick Swisher to the White Sox for a combined nine prospects, including five starting pitchers. Then the A's -- even after dropping two straight to the White Sox over the weekend -- made a run in the watered-down AL West, sitting six games behind the fragile Los Angeles Angels.
(snip) Now seems like a bad time for Beane to pull the trigger, no matter how much the Cubs call.

| | 76ers Rumors: Josh Smith Ready for the Taking by the Sixers | | 2008-06-22 16:02:22 | | Looks like the Sixers best power forward option might be Josh Smith.
"Some say Atlanta doesn't want to go above $11 million per year to sign restricted free agent Josh Smith. If that's the case, look for Smith to end up in Philadelphia.
The Sixers would love to get Elton Brand, but word is that he doesn't want to take a pay cut from the $16 million-plus he's due next season -- except to go to Miami.
So with Brand pretty much out of the question, Philly will look at Smith and Antawn Jamison. The Sixers can start either one at $11 million with 8 percent annual increases." - Chris Broussard's Blog, ESPN | | By: The Recliner GM Sports Blog
| | Rumors Heating Up in Mid-June? | | 2008-06-18 05:00:00 | | The trading deadline is still 43 days away and everyday seems to bring another rumor. Most believe the Cubs are interested in adding a starting pitcher. Names such as A.J. Burnett, C.C. Sabathia, Randy Wolf, Greg Maddux and Gil Meche have been mentioned as possibilities. And with all of the changes taking place in Seattle, the Erik Bedard to the Cubs rumors resurfaced on Monday.
Paul Sullivan reported in the Tribune on Tuesday night that the Cubs could have recalled Matt Murton just to showcase him for a possible trade. Sullivan stated Murton "is not in the Cubs' long-range plans" and it was no secret that Jim Hendry was trying to trade Murton this past winter. And this is where is gets a little interesting....

| | President George W. Bush Meets With Pope Benedict At The Vatican Amidst Rumors That Bush Will Soon Convert To Catholicism | | 2008-06-13 11:33:00 | | President George W. Bush met with Pope Benedict at the Vatican yesterday amid growing rumors that Bush was seriously considering becoming a Roman Catholic. The two leaders gathered privately for half an hour in the 12th century Tower of St John. This was considered to be a great honor for Bush, and it was the Pope's way of reciprocating the warm reception that the Pope received when he visited the White House earlier this year. However, the big news here is that the Vatican is openly spreading the rumor that Bush may follow his good friend Tony Blair in converting to Catholicism.A portion of the source article is reproduced below:----http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/2122733/George-W-Bush-meets-Pope-amid-claims-he-might-convert-to-Catholicism.htmlGeorge W Bush and Pope Benedict XVI have held an intimate meeting in Rome as rumours mounted in Italy that the president may follow in Tony Blair's footsteps and convert to Catholicism. The two men spoke for half an hour | | By: Shattered Paradigm | | |

Rather than post every day, which has become difficult recently, I believe that I will post fewer times a week, but with several pieces a day. That way I can still get my thoughts across to you guys.In any case, I thought the whole Dwyane Wade to Bulls trade rumor should be addressed. I personally have never heard anything dumber in my entire life. Supposedly, the rumor is that Wade would go to the Bulls in exchange for moving up one spot in the draft, where the Heat would then select Derrick Rose. I have to say, only a fan blog could come up with something that ridiculous. It's one thing to say we would trade Wade for the #1 overall pick and draft Rose and Beasley, planning for the future without Wade, who might opt out soon. That's still absolutely ridiculous. That itself would be stretching the limits of stupidity. So then try to imagine how incredibly dumb the real rumor is.Wade is the cornerstone of the franchise. | | Breast Implant Rumors: | | 2008-04-04 08:39:00 | | AskMen.com has this to say about the Heroes actress, Kristen Bell, “Some women look like scary hags without makeup, but Kristen Bell is not one of them.” For a girl who was “not nearly pretty enough to play the pretty girl and not homely enough to play the ugly girl” this might seem like an odd evaluation, but then rumors about her having a breast augmentation are definitely odder. A natural B cup, Kristen has a very slender frame edging just barely on the slight. If she had a breast augmentation, it would definitely show on her figure, and hey, she ain’t looking over-stuffed from any angle as far as I can see! Whether she plans on having a breast implant fitted in or not, Kristen Bell still remains one of the few actresses not open to the idea of baring their breasts for a shot. Here are just a few noteworthy items I've come across as they relate to the Buffalo Bills. Please add anything else if you've seen other tidbits. The Bills had scouts at Arkansas State's Pro Day, presumably to see SS Tyrell Johnson. Connecticut cornerback Tyvon Branch has visited with the Bills. The Bills had scouts at Coastal Carolina's Pro Day, which was headlined by WR Jerome Simpson. Indiana WR James Hardy has stated that the Buffalo Bills were the first team to interview him at the Combine, and appeared to be very interested in him, along with the Broncos who also interviewed him at the Combine. Tennessee inside linebacker Jerod Mayo is attracting a lot of interest around the league, and has already paid a visit to the Buffalo Bills. Mayo told Sirius NFL Radio that he had a good visit with the Bills this past week, in which he met the entire staff of coaches. | | By: Buffalo Rumblings

But this trade isn’t completely dead. It is believed the Orioles will continue to scout the Cubs during spring training with hopes a deal can be resurrected.
The names discussed so far include some combination of pitchers Sean Marshall and Sean Gallagher, outfielder Matt Murton and infielder Ronny Cedeno. The Cubs aren’t exactly well-stocked with top prospects once you get past outfielder Felix Pie, but this deal makes too much sense for it | | By: Another Cubs Blog
| | Headlines and Rumors from Day Three | | 2008-02-17 01:00:00 | | There was one big surprise from Fitch Park on Day Three of Camp Lou. According to multiple reports, Piniella stated Rich Hill is currently slotted as the 4th starter in his rotation, not the third as has been assumed all winter. Piniella is undecided on which pitcher will occupy the 3rd and 5th spots in the Cubs starting rotation. Jason Marquis, Ryan Dempster and Jon Lieber are the leading candidates for the last two spots according to a report in the Tribune. Piniella added he is "not looking at Lieber as a potential long man in the pen." So if Lieber remains healthy, that leaves only one spot up for grabs?
Kosuke Fukudome's second day as a Cub was apparently a good one according to a report on Cubs.com. Fukudome made Gerald Perry smile after his second day in the cage and Mike Quade liked his footwork in the outfield....not a bad couple of days.

Today, news is coming out of Silicon Valley that they purchased Danger. Yep, the same Danger who makes the Sidekick from T-Mobile. Let's do a little math, shall we? Hardware(Danger) + Software(MS) + Phone(T-Mobile,etc) = Zune Phone? Did Microsoft just start the ball rolling for their version of the iPhone killer? | | Dolphins Coaching Rumors; Chad Johnson? | | 2008-01-28 14:52:00 | | The past week has been a busy one for the Dolphins organization. They've hired a slew of assistant coaches already, and were being linked to a pair of Saints coaches over the weekend. One, special teams coach John Bonamego, has accepted their offer. The other, Pete Carmichael Jr., now looks like he won't be leaving New Orleans to be our offensive coordinator. Don't ask me what happened with Dan Henning, because I have no idea.As a potential replacement for Carmichael, who was supposed to be pretty close to taking the job (as was Henning, so that shows how much rumors are worth), the Fins are interviewing Atlanta coordinator Hue Jackson. The Jackson interview is interesting first because Atlanta's offense wasn't exactly a powerhouse last season, though to be fair the personnel they had out on the field would be hard to work with for even the most innovative playcallers. But more importantly, as PFT mentions, it might fuel speculation about Chad Johnson being traded to the Dolphins. Jackson served as Chad's WR coach throughout most of his career and a reunion would be an good thing for everyone involved. You might recall I made a note of Chad's potential interest in leaving Cincinnati for Miami a few weeks ago. Then I doubted the possibility of such a move being made. I still doubt it. However, these recent developments can't be dismissed. A talent like Chad Johnson would certainly be a welcome addition to this team. It would take a lot of pressure off John Beck and it would give Ted Ginn room to run around and grow as a WR. | | By: State of Miami

| | Erik Bedard and Brian Roberts rumors heat up | | 2008-01-09 19:07:42 | | We have all been hearing the Bedard rumors for a while now, but it seems that a deal may be real close. Varying reports have the O's trading Bedard to the Mariners for a deal centered around young phenom Adam Jones. I find it hard to believe the O's backed down from their demand of Brandon Morrow, but it's looking like it.Another reports says that the Mets may not quite be out of the mix just yet, leaving about four teams still in the hunt: Mariners, Reds, Indians and Mets.A deal is imminent for Orioles infielder Brian Roberts according to various sources. The trade would send Roberts to the Cubs for Sean Gallagher, Sean Marshall, and Ronny Cedeno. According to sources close to the Orioles, it is going to take Rich Hill, Felix Pie, and Tyler Colvin.Frankly, I think you can leave Rich Hill in Chicago. The Orioles do not need to add another under-performer to a depleted team, while giving up a great second baseman. We here at Mr. Perfect Sports will keep you posted. -Mr Perfect | | By: Mr. Perfect's Sports Blog | | |
| | Scotty Hopson Performance and Recruiting Rumors | | 2008-01-09 15:25:00 | | In the King of the Bluegrass Classic Louisville Male edged out Scotty Hopson's University Heights team for the crown. The game came down to the final two seconds when senior guard Rodd Lanon made a runner in the lane to seal a 53-51 victory for Louisville Male. Lanon finished with 13 points and 6 assists, with Bryce Mitchell adding 14 points and Dexter Shannon contributed 11 points and 12 rebounds. Scotty Hopson lead University Heights with 19 points and 10 rebounds and was named the tourney MVP.The recruiting rumors are swirling so take them for what they are worth. It is rumored that Tennessee is leading in the Scotty Hopson sweepstakes and that it woudl take a lot to steer Scotty away from the Vols. Not that this is keeping Texas and Louisville from pushing very hard of late, but they have a lot of room to make up. The rumors also say that UK's Gillespie has elected to not pursue Hopson due to his reputation for slacking off at times during games. Seems Billy wants all hustlers in his next class. | | Obama Rumors Exposed! | | 2008-01-08 21:42:29 | | A Rumor was floating around that Obama was muslim and would be swearing in on a Quran instead of HOLY BIBLE. Yet this picture shows him using a HOLY BIBLE! Another rumor said he refused to Pledge of Allegiance, yet the picture shows him saying the Pledge of Allegiance with his right hand over his heart. So how did the rumors start about him being a Muslim? Maybe his name is to blame for the rumors! My swahili dictionary lists "barak(a)" as a noun meaning " blesssing, prosperity, abundance". It can also be confused for the Hebrew word, baruch, which means blessed or the Arabic word, mubaarak, which means blessed as well. Swahili, Hebrew and Arabic are extremely similar languages because of millenia of trade between East Africa and the Middle East. Swahili, is actually a Bantu language even though it has many Arabic and Hebrew loan words, it developed as a linqua franca for trade between the different peoples. Just like there are lots of English words of African origin, for example; cola, coffee, jive, juke, jukebox, impala, yam, zombie, jazz, ect,. English often borrowed/loaned words from the cultures and languages of the British Colonies or it developed as a linqua franca for trade between the different peoples as well. English is the most borrowing language then any language of earth, there are words loaned from Hebrew, Arabic, Spanish, German, Swahili, Greek, Hindi, Persian, Chinese, French (It borrowed more words then Swahili) The singers Aailyah and Ashanti both have names which can be Swahili and Arabic (Are they Muslims? No!) Also what about the fact that not all Arabic speaking people are Muslims, alot are Jewish or Christian, these two religions spread in Arabia before Islam was even created. What about the fact Kenya where Obama's father was born only has 5-10% Muslims, while the majority are/were Protestant Christians 45%, Roman Catholic 25%, Traditional Religions 10%. | | More Bills Coordinator Rumors: Schonert to be Promoted? | | 2008-01-08 17:36:24 | | Hold the phone on Greg Olson, folks - apparently, Buffalo's offensive coordinator gig is close to going to a different candidate. Originally appearing in this article as a passing comment, and later expanded upon by WGR 550, Bills quarterbacks coach Turk Schonert is the leading candidate to take over Buffalo's offensive coordinator duties. The line from the article (which is largely about Olson): For a while, there appeared the chance that Olson could end up in Buffalo. The Bills lost offensive coordinator Steve Fairchild when he returned to the college ranks as head coach at Colorado State. Olson worked for Bills head coach Dick Jauron both in Chicago and Detroit. But league sources told the Post-Dispatch on Monday that Bills quarterback coach Turk Schonert is in line to become Buffalo's new offensive coordinator. My skepticism about "league sources" aside, Buffalo's lack of significant movement on the interview front has been pointing to this since Fairchild was officially o | | By: Buffalo Rumblings | | |
| | | Pietrus and other Heat Rumors | | 2008-01-02 14:59:00 | | Most fans by now probably would rather just see this team tank and get a top flight prospect in the next draft. However, don't count on Pat Riley giving up on the team just yet. Before the February 21st deadline, look for him to try to move just about anyone on this roster to try to salvage what's left of this season. The top guy mentioned has been Michael Pietrus. He wanted to come to Miami in the offseason and recently hinted at it again by saying he "prefers a city closer to the West Indies". Cough Cough. I used the ESPN trade machine a few days ago after he became eligible for a trade and saw that Smush Parker's contract works well, especially since they need a point guard. However, that story linked above shot down any chance of that. JWill might be more tempting to them, but they don't match contracts and nobody else on the Warriors roster fits the bill.Jason Williams and Ricky Davis are other guys rumored potentially to get shipped elsewhere. | | Latest Rangers Trade Rumors | | 2007-07-30 09:45:27 | | As of the time of this article being posted, the trade deadline is just over 36 hours away. Expect business in the Rangers front office to pick up dramatically - and soon.
T.R. Sullivan reports tonight that Texas and Arizona are discussing a deal that would send first baseman Conor Jackson, AA outfielder Carlos Gonzalez and a pitching prospect to the Rangers for Mark Teixeira. The Arizona Republic also confirms the Diamondbacks’ interest.
Meanwhile, FOXSports.com’s Ken Rosenthal says that according to major league sources, left-hander Matt Harrison has been shut down due to left shoulder tendinitis, and is no longer part of the Braves’ offer. Atlanta has reportedly sent the Rangers a list of pitchers to consider as Harrison’s replacement, which does not include Jo-Jo Reyes, and Rosenthal writes that the deal could potentially become a 4-for-2 swap, with Teixeira and a reliever presumably headed Atlanta’s way.

| | Around the Horn Rumors/Game Thread: Cubs at Reds 6:10 CDT | | 2007-07-28 21:53:32 | | There's a lot going on today, kids. So let's get right to it.
Since everyone wants to know how Kerry did last night, let's cut right to the chase:
CINCINNATI - Kerry Wood was pushed into the starter's role Friday at Class A Peoria, where the Cubs moved him up from his relief spot because of the possibility of bad weather.
Wood then delivered his third straight scoreless inning for the Chiefs, striking out one and allowing no hits in a 13-pitch performance, averaging between 92-94 m.p.h. on his fastball in the Game 2 of his first back-to-back appearances. Things seem to be going swimmingly for Kerry, and I'm thinking we might see him back up with the club around the middle of next week. And now, news from the rehab that no one cares about:
Meanwhile, Wade Miller joined the Cubs in Cincinnati on Friday after allowing six runs in three innings in his rehab start Wednesday at Double-A Tennessee. Miller said he probably will take a six- or seven-day rest before making his next start. | | By: A League of Her Own

Paid surveys provide a viable earning alternative to those who are willing to input some time and effort in completing survey questionnaires. Paid surveys can also be a very nice hobby for those who occasionally want to use their free time to earn some nice prizes and bonuses. In this article, some more realities of paid surveys are revealed, disproving the old myths.Myth 1: Paid Surveys Require Lots of Effort and TimePaid surveys require exactly as much time as anyone is willing to devote. That’s the beauty of the paid survey programs. If you wish to complete paid surveys every day and maximize your earnings, you will choose to subscribe to numerous survey sites, and will invest in creating a profile of a prompt, accurate, and reliable survey respondent who’s always available for a survey. | | Rangers Rained Out, Teixeira Trade Rumors Heat Up And More | | 2007-06-28 07:18:55 | | With today’s Rangers game being rained out, there’s obviously not a whole lot of action on the field to discuss. There are, however, still a lot of things worth discussing, as we move closer and closer to the July 31st trade deadline.
Today’s rain delay lasted an hour and 26 minutes before crew chief Gary Darling (does that name ring a bell?) called the game off. As I previously mentioned, the game will be made up as part of a day-night doubleheader on September 11th, with Game 1 starting at 12:05 PM CST, and Game 2 at 6:05 PM CST. September 10th is an off day for the Rangers, so like I said, this may be a blessing in disguise.
Manager Ron Washington certainly thinks so, as the rainout gives him a valuable opportunity to rest the bullpen. According to Ron, neither Eric Gagne nor Aki Otsuka were going to be available on Wednesday after their heavy workload (and accompanying struggles) the last few days.
