| Rutgers researchers show how the brain can protect against cancer | | 2008-06-10 09:09:44 | | Scientists have been aware for many years that if cancer patients are not able to deal with the stress associated with being sick, the cancer will progress faster than in calmer patients. To counteract this phenomenon, physicians encourage treatments that help cancer patients handle their stress. Scientists theorized that the stress relief may have come as a result of increased beta-endorphin peptide (BEP), the "feel good" hormones in the brain that are released during exercise, a good conversation, and many other aspects of life that give humans pleasure.

| | Top In-State QB Choses Rutgers | | 2008-04-17 06:27:56 | | From the DelcoTimes
Four months before he’ll begin summer camp at Cardinal O’Hara, quarterback Tom Savage has wrapped up the recruiting process.
According to a source, Savage (6-4, 231) decided Wednesday night to take his talents to Rutgers University, where he’ll play for coach Greg Schiano. The junior chose the Scarlet Knights from a list that included Georgia, Tennessee, Miami, Virginia, Pittsburgh, Michigan and Louisville.
Savage will hold a press conference at O’Hara Friday afternoon to formally announce his decision. Ranked as the No. 6 quarterback prospect in the country by rivals.com, Savage was unavailable for comment Wednesday night.
So, a good in-state talent from the outskirts of Philly has chosen to go play at Rutgers. But what really stings is the short list. It included teams all around Penn State but not Penn State.

| | Red Sox Beat A's Behind Masterful Daisuke--UCONN Women Defeat Rutgers To Advance To Final Four | | 2008-04-02 04:45:00 | | Daisuke Matsuzaka was completely ready to attone for his mediocre outing in his native Japan. And he did JUST that, and more! He started the game by striking out the first two batters, and except for one mistake to Cust, a home run, he sailed, he breezed, he cruised through 6 2/3 innings, giving up that solo home run while only surrendering two hits, walking none (what a change!) and striking out a convincing nine. The batting stars were Kevin Youkilis, who tied Steve Garvey's record with his 193 straight error-free games. THAT IS TRULY AMAZING! Okajima, our Darkman, followed his countryman with one full inning of scoreless relief, and then..then it was time for Paps, the REAL Paps, to shine. And shine brightly he did. He breezed through the last inning and a third, striking out three and allowing a goose egg load of hits. The Okie to Paps combination is alive and well, thank you, as long as the Sox starter can get into the 7th inning. Daisuke said this after the game..."It's something | | By: Peter's Red Sox Forever | | |

| | | The Rutgers Athletic Department and Kenny Rogers’ Words to Live By | | 2007-04-04 04:55:07 | | Yeah, I know. I was wrong about The Rutgers women’s basketball team.
And as the great philosopher Kenny Rogers reminded us, “You gotta know when to hold ‘em, know when to fold ‘em, know when to walk away and know when to run.”
So, given my recent error…
