That hardware will also be available on the 9-3 Aero, and Saab's got another trick up its sleeve in the form of the 9-3X. Rather than go the lowered, Vaderized route of the Turbo X, the 9-3X is angling for the table scraps left over by the Audi Allroad, Volvo XC70, and even the luxed-up versions of the Subaru Outback. Raised suspension and skid-platey accents butch it up, along with extra cladding and exhaust tips big enough to flank some bumper nutz. The official unveiling will most likely be in Paris in October. But it's not clear which GM division's badge would the car carry. While the drawings spotted reportedly featured Chevy design cues, the scribes over at Motor Trend venture that Chevrolet couldn't sell it at high enough a price-point to make it a viable option. It'd be too small for Buick or Cadillac, and too European-flavored for Pontiac. It doesn't fit Hummer's and GMC's lineups, either. That leaves Saab and Saturn, either or both of which (in possible collaboration with Vauxhall/Opel) could present a good alternative to BMW's popular Mini retro-hatch, which will compete with Fiat's hot-selling 500 and Alfa Romeo's upcoming Junior model soon.

Out of the 10 new drop-tops they tested, the Saab 9-3 Convertible and the Volvo C70 received the Top Safety Pick. They scored “good” for all three criterias: frontal, side, and rear.
The rear impact tests proved to be the most difficult for these cars as fixed roofs can do a great deal in protecting the cabin and the car itself. Saab introduced the Aero X Concept in early 2006 to remind people of their roots in aviation. Designed with no doors or windshield pillars, the Aero X boasts a cockpit canopy as you would see in a jet aircraft.
The Aero X is powered by a 400-hp, twin-turbo, BioPower V6 engine that pushes the car from 0-60 mph in 4.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 155 mph. It also boasts the coolest gauges I’ve ever seen, showing the speed, RPM and boost levels in 3-D. This is really, really cool:
Although I think the tachometer is supposed to read “RPM x1000,” instead of “RPM x100″ Well I wish this car was real and not a concept.
