It was my first visit to Utah and I was surprised by the heat. It was over 100 degrees while I was in town and it felt like an oven. Despite the heat, Salt Lake City is a pretty place with beautiful mountains and cute little restaurants lining the streets. One of the best parts was how clean and safe the streets were, even in the city areas. I visited the Gateway Mall which was built for the Olympics several years ago. The outdoor mall has many of the same stores you'd find anywhere else along with a few more local shops. Kids will enjoy the interactive fountain in which water shoots up from multiple holes to the tune of music. I look forward to exploring Utah again one day and seeing more of the state. Day 29- Sunday, July 13:
We chilled out this morning, then around 4, Laura, Beth and I rode up to Grand Teton National Park. We drove through it for a while until we got to a spot called Jenny Lake, which featured, of all things, a lake. We took a boat across the lake and hiked up to Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point. Since it was by now after 6pm, the weather was cool and the trail was empty, so the hiking was quite nice. After we were duly inspired by the point, we headed back around the lake and were treated to some breathtaking views of The Tetons.
I was going to climb up to the top of The Grand Teton and fly down on my portable hang glider, but we would have been late for dinner. And since dinner was pizza, no one would have wanted that.
