I’m Not Dead, Just a Little Shaken
    2008-08-12 18:57:03
Photo credit: mnd.ctrl The original title of this post was going to be, “I’m not dead, just a little twisted,” but I was afraid you would get the wrong idea thinking the word “twisted” meant “diabolically crazy” when, in fact, my meaning was more along the lines of, “Hey, everyone, look at me! My spine is [...]

The Cat Must Go: How Allergies Have Shaken Up Our Household
    2008-08-02 02:42:00
By Sean Kelley Sometime in March, an orange tabby adopted our family. We are not cat lovers. In fact, both my wife and I are allergic to cats; my eyes swell shut with constant contact, and my wife... [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

Rumble: A Day in Hell - Part II: Shaken and Stirred...
    2008-03-05 02:10:53
This is Part II of the (horror) travel story of my Friend "E" (The Other "E"), trying to fly from Rome via Zurich to Nairobi, last weekend. The only problem was, eh, there was rather a severe storm. We pick up the story after "E" finally got to Zurich after a forced stop-over in Geneva. One aborted landing, one failed take-off and four gin tonics later:James Bond always preferred his Martini shaken...not stirred....well, I did not have a choice, I was shaken AND stirred the whole day. As the day went on, things did not start to look any better:I am kind of looking forward to try out the famous Virgin services on the flight from Heathrow to Nairobi. After a couple more hours of waiting around at Zurich airport, we now move on to Campari Orange (as I thought "enough Gin for the day!"), and we board the flight to London. Free seating on the flight and 400 CHF to anyone who is willing to take a later flight as they are overbooked and the plane is smaller. As we have to catch our connecting

BATSA Hearing: Shaken Down by New Jersey on the State Line
    2008-02-21 00:00:00
New Jersey's disgraceful actions came up in last week's hearing in front of the House Small Business Committee about H.R. 5267, the Business Activity Tax Simplification Act of 2008 (BATSA). The recently introduced bipartisan bill would prevent states from reaching across their borders to tax businesses that have no physical property or employees within a state. Many states have adopted a theory of "economic presence"-taxing out-of-state businesses because they have customers or "exploit" the market within a state-as a way of exporting tax burdens to non-residents and obstructing interstate commerce. H.R. 5267 would enshrine a "physical presence" rule, limiting taxation only to those businesses actually in the state. Our blog will post some excerpts from testimony submitted in last week's hearing. This week, we bring the story of Barry Godwin (courtesy TaxProfBlog), a controller for the Stingray Boat Company of Hartsville, South Carolina. Stingray s

Sermon - "Shaken but Not Stirred", given by Ruth L. Foss, Sanbornville United Methodist Church, Wakefield, NH, November 11, 2007

(Read Haggai 1:15b-2:9)Wow…a moving and a shaken…when our God moves…when our Creator creates…there is a whole lot of shaken going on. Is our God awesome or what? (Glory to God) I can only imagine the scene when God moves in this way. I am sure that during the creation of the world…God spoke…the earth trembled…and came into being. In the scripture from Haggai…I am sure that the Israelites too were shaken during this part of their history…but shaken in a different way. They were finally able to start rebuilding the temple…but the task…what a task they had. There was the temple of the Lord…laying in ruin…nothing but rubble…sitting on the ground in front of them. How were they going to take on this task?I am sure that there were many people in the remnant that remembered the temple the way it was. They probably had some wonderful times there and remember it in its grandeur (This had been Solomon’s temple after all…can you imagine how it looked in its day?). T

    Shaken, not stirred
    2006-08-13 23:22:00
Tariq Ramadan makes many a woman swoon. We quote from comments:"Tariq Ramadan is a hotty. I'll marry him so that he can get his green card and spread the liberal Muslim word...then we will make little hot muslim babies." Ladies, he's married and has four kids. So not only is he smart and sexy, he's that rarest of breeds - a man who can commit. Don't give up hope, however. Muhammad had many wives, so all Tariq needs is to be given the attractive options. As his exclusive agent, the LHG is in charge of the selection process. Send your pictures to lazurdadeldiego@gmail.com - they'll be evaluated by our staff and those selected will be forwarded to the man himself. First fifty submissions get signed copies of Western Muslims and the Future of Islam.Good luck, ladies. Mcdreamy awaits.
