Untuk membuat blog dan tulisan kita banyak dibaca dan dikunjungi orang adalah karena dua kemungkinan yaitu adanya Link Exchange antar blog, dan karena orang datang melalui mesin pencari (search engine) terutama Google. Bagaimana supaya semua entry di blog kita ditangkap google? Gunakan Google Sitemaps.
Selain menggunakan google sitemap, untuk promosi blog melaui seach engine para webmaster juga melalukan submit directory ke seluruh website seach engine. Walaupun beberapa orang ada yang mengatakan "lebih baik sibuk nyari cewek dari pada melakukan submit url ke directory yang segitu banyak". Salah satunya adalah Mas Iwan beliau mengaku hanya melaukan submit url ke search engine google saja namun beliau memperoleh Page Rank yang cukup besar.
