Bad Egg Slicer
This looks exactly like the egg slicer from William Sonoma and I strongly suspect that William Sonoma bought the right to put their name on it. The wire broke the very first time I used it which was to slice mushrooms. It is one continuous wire so once it breaks, the whole thing is ruined. By Mike 'n Alice (Northern California, USA)
Our original Salad Shooter finally wore out... they are handy gadgets, tho mostly we use them for just grating cheese. Unfortunately, even with the slightly new design, they are horribly noisy, and the little motor still has that 'new - is something burning' smell.....

A Better Slicer
I had the plastic version of this for a number of years and really thought it was great -- until it broke. After seeing the stainless one on Amazon I figured that it would be | | By: Really Cool Gadgets, New Gadget Review, Gadget New | | |
| | Leifheit Stainless Steel Egg Slicer | | 2007-10-02 22:49:32 | | The wonderful thing about this egg slicer (besides its hefty weight and superb quality) is that it can slice eggs into ovals or rounds, depending on which way you place the egg. Great for slicing mushrooms too!ReviewsGreat all-steel egg-slicerBy T.C.I picked this up several years ago in the KitchenEtc store and absolutely love it. It's an all steel egg-slicer (not a cross-cut slicer). It's great for cutting mushrooms and strawberries as well.I usually use it to slice the eggs in all three dimensions for my salads. It slices evenly every time and the wires are sharp enough to keep slicing the egg when I turn the egg around to slice it vertically. It has a nice heavy feel to it and sits sturdily on the counter without slipping, tho I find I'm always holding it in my hand to slice the eggs. This is dishwasher safe. It has kept its beautiful shine all these four years later. If you're going to hand wash it, just make sure you get in those little crevices under the slicer.Premier egg slicerBy Kathlyn Storey (Rancho Murieta, CA)If you had told me that I would spend $13 for an egg slicer, I would have told you that I would be committed first. Well, I've broken two slicers, and bought another one for $2.50 and was displeased with it. I carefully read all the reviews of this one and decided to go for it. I am not disappointed. This one is so well made that it will probably outlive me. I especially like the fact that it slices eggs in either direction, and of course, that it goes in the dishwasher. Supposedly it will slice mushrooms and kiwi, so I'm going to try it out. This model is fairly heavy, and the wires are substantial. You get what you pay for. I hope that this is the last one of these that I buy; if not, I will revisit this review.Only the wire cutters are stainless.By Prudent buyer (California)It's okay, but I was disappointed. Only the wire cutters are stainless. The Slicer is chrome. I didn't want that because I knew it would start to show rust marks if I d | | By: Really Cool Gadgets, New Gadget Review, Gadget New | | |
