Small sample size alerts here, but these numbers do seem to be more in line with what other Japanese imports have done in the big leagues.
Fukudome, since April 9th, is hitting a robust .271/.378/.386. He’s getting on base quite nicely, but has Ryan Theriot power to go along with it. Actually, Theriot is slugging .436 this season. That won’t last, but a .386 slugging doesn’t belong in the 5-spot. Even if we just go back and only leave out the one game in March, Fukudome is only hitting for an .820 OPS. His slugging is barely over .400. The guy simply doesn’t have much power. He’s never going to have much power here either.

Sullivan says that Hendry is not leaning towards calling up Matt Murton as most expected and will probably call up an infield replacement. He mentions Eric Patterson and I can’t think of any other player except for maybe Bobby Scales, which would force a roster move so I don’t see that happening.
It sounds as if the Cubs will try to cope with Soriano’s injury by using Johnson, Ward and DeRosa in the outfield and Fontenot, Cedeno and Patterson (if he is called up) at 2nd base. It seems much simpler to me. Daryle Ward in LF (talk about his defense all you want, but this is one of the reasons he’s on the team) against righties, Johnson against lefties with Fukudome playing CF and DeRosa in RF. DeRosa stays at 2nd against righties and Cedeno plays 2nd against lefties. But what do I know?

The move bats Soriano behind fan favorite Ryan Theriot, who has not been a great success hitting anywhere in the lineup. Soriano was devastated.
"The first time I bat second in a big-league game [and] somebody was on base," Soriano said. "I did not feel very comfortable. I think I'll have to make a little adjustment. I have to play a couple more games batting second and see how I feel.
As this story goes to press, there is no word on whether Ryan Theriot plans to apologize to Soriano for being on base.

Palma tiene pobre opinión de sus inicios literarios. 1858, trabaja en la redacción de un periódico y al año siguiente publica su primera tradición. 1859 empieza a escribir lo que luego se llamarán tradiciones y se vincula al periodismo satírico, vínculo que durará gran parte de su vida. 1861-63 exilio en Chile por oposición al general Ramón Castilla. 1863, la publicación de sus tradiciones en los periódicos de América le traen renombre; publica los Anales de la Inquiscición en Lima.; interés en la historia. 1864-65, viaje a Europa y Estados Unidos; participa en la defensa del Perú contra los españoles. 1868 apogeo de su prestigio personal y político. 1870, Pasionarias. Actitud patriótica durante la guerra con Chile y la ocupación de Lima (1880-1881); preso 12 días. 1884 reconstruye la biblioteca nacional y llega a ser director. 1886 Encabeza la campaña para expulsar a los jesuítas del país. 1887 se instala la academia peruana de la lengua con Palma como decano. Polémica con González Prada (1888) que eventualmente lo sustituye como director de la misma entre 1912-14 y en 1916.
