| Sport Sites: College Basketball | | 2007-03-16 16:22:00 | | A few days ago, I recommended NY Times' Bracket Blog because of its wide variety of writers. Today I'm going to go the opposite route, and also recommend you check out one individual writer's blog, YOCO Hoops. This blog is the sole product of Yoni Cohen, and you can really tell that Cohen knows his stuff. It's easy to see why many experts consider his site to be the definitive college basketball blog. Like many sport sites, his blog gets pretty cluttered around this time of the year, but that's really my only (minor) complaint. I always check out Cohen's daily roundup, and the vast amount of additional information is impressive as well.... | | By: Sport Sites | | |
| | Sport Sites: Games | | 2007-03-11 04:51:00 | | Back in my freshman year of high school, SlimeAthlete.com was a godsend. It was this site, more than any other sport sites, that got us through the endless days of Spreadsheets class. From the very first moment we discovered Slime Basketball, we were hooked. It got so bad that our school had to install a firewall, not to prevent us from looking at porn or doing anything else illegal, but to stop us from playing these silly games. I'm telling you, they're addictive. I can't identify exactly what makes them so much better than games on other sport sites, but give them a try and see for yourself. I haven't taken the time to figure out some of the newer games, like Slime Squash and Slime Rugby, but I'm still a huge fan of the classics...Slime Soccer, Basketball, and Volleyball. So grab a friend, or give it a go by yourself, and get ready for some good old slime fun!... | | By: Sport Sites | | |
| | Sport Sites: Humor | | 2007-03-10 02:35:00 | | I've been an avid reader of SportsPickle.com for over two years now, so obviously they're doing something right. The site has been featured on numerous sport sites, including Sports Illustrated and ESPN.com. I especially like the site's T.I.R.S.H. section, which stands for "Today in Revisionist Sports History." Take today's entry for example:March 10, 1993 – The San Francisco Giants make Sherry Davis the first female public address announcer in sports history. The Giants stressed to Davis that she speak loudly so as to drown out all the men in the crowd below her yelling “show us your tits!”SportsPickle.com provides a fresh perspective on sports, especially compared to the very vanilla content of most sport sites. Just make sure to stay away from the Handicapper section, where the posted picks won at just a 48% rate over the past football season.... | | By: Sport Sites | | |

| Sport Sites: Baseball | | 2007-03-09 12:11:00 | | Yes, it's that time of year again. Spring training has arrived. But since many sport sites are currently focused on March Madness, it's often difficult to find quality, in-depth coverage of spring training. Luckily I found Spring Training Online. They have a huge collection of spring training information, including schedules, rosters, travel information, and history. Unfortunately this site doesn't have actual recaps or box scores for the spring training games, but you can find those at any of the big-name sport sites (ESPN, CBS Sportsline, etc.).Also, have you thought about going to sunny Florida or Arizona to watch some of your favorite team's spring training games? The atmosphere and environment are second to none, and it's a great way to scout out your team for the upcoming season. If you're planning on making the trip, I recommend visiting Stub Hub to order your tickets. They offer a great selection of tickets, as well as great prices and great service. I've used them many times in the past, and I've always been extremely satisfied.... | | By: Sport Sites | | |
