Spy Shots: 2010 Buick LaCrosse spotted in the wild
    2008-07-07 13:21:00
Autoblog reader Mike dropped us a note the other day to let us he had spotted this car tooling around in Troy MI. Being a vigilant Autoblog reader he had a camera handy and snapped off a series of photos. Mike was unable to identify the car in question, but we've seen this machine before. It's the next generation Buick LaCrosse although it's not known if GM will retain that branding. The new Buick is built on GM's Epsilon II platform which is shared with the new Opel Insignia. Thanks to Mike for the photos![Source: Autoblog reader Mike]Tag: Spy Photos, Buick1

Spy Shots: 2011 BMW 5 Series
    2008-07-05 22:07:00
Now that the world has a good idea of what to expect from the next BMW 7 Series, our attention naturally turns to BMW's tweener car, the 5 Series. Spy photographers have managed to snap off a few shots of the upcoming sedan, and although it is still heavily camouflaged, some of us are already beginning to appreciate the end of the 'flame surfacing' that defined the propeller-brand's last generation of products. Instantly noticeable are the huge double-kidney grilles up front, which appear to mimic those introduced on the Concept CS sedan and featured on the new 7. Reports indicate that the 5 Series will add a fastback coupe similar in concept to the X6 to go along with the expected sedan and wagon. The interior shots show the newly-revised iDrive system with its enlarged display. BMW still plans to cover its center-mounted navigation screen with a gigantic domed hood, and the joystick-style gear lever used in some of its current models also returns, but the iDrive controller appears to

    Spy Shots: 2009 Jaguar XKR
    2008-07-05 15:58:00
The 2009 Jaguar XK-R has been spotted and shot doing the rounds in Europe. With so many other pots on the boil, like the XF-R and the new XJ, the XK-R is going the subtle route when it comes to changes. Up front, new intakes will be fitted under the headlights, while out back LED tail lights will be fitted in place of the standard units. One change we are most excited to hear about is the swap from a telescoping aerial to a shark fin on the deck lid. On the convertible, the raised aerial caused all kinds of wind noise, which, frankly, was unacceptable on a $100K car. Inside you'll find, ta-da, Jaguar Drive. The final version of Jaguar's hottest kitten will be revealed at the Paris Motor Show.[Source: World Car Fans]Tag: Spy Photos, Coupes, Sports GTs, Paris Motor Show, Jaguar

Spy Shots: Aston Martin V12 Vantage
    2008-07-01 12:12:00
Aston Martin shocked the industry when it took the wraps off of the baby-blue V12 Vantage RS concept back in December. The idea was revolutionary yet stunningly simple at the same time: take the lowest car in the line-up and turn it into the highest. Would Aston build it? We all hoped so, and our hopes were vindicated with spy shots of test mules running developmental laps around the race track. From the latest batch, it appears that all those louvers on the hood will remain – a necessity for cooling the 600-hp V12 that is sitting where a 380-hp V8 usually resides – but the rear wing seems to have been reduced, with a big carbon-fiber diffuser taking over the balance (literally) of the downforce requirements. Eyewitness accounts indicate that the test mule is also wearing the carbon-ceramic disc brakes from the current top-of-the-line DBS, while insiders expect the imminently desirable supercar to bear an equally breathtaking pricetag at double that of the base V8 version. Spy Shots: Twin-turbo V8 BMW X5
    2008-06-27 06:21:00
BMW has continued to deny the existence of an M-version of the BMW X5, and by all accounts, it's true. The blokes from Bavaria maintain that the 'ute's size, weight, height and packaging won't warrant the tri-tones of the vaunted M. But the doesn't mean BMW can't produce a hotter version of its biggie-sized SUV.Using the same 407 hp, 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 found in the recently released X6, BMW is taking aim at the Porsche Cayenne Turbo. KGP was able to snap off a handful of shots of the turbo'd X5 running the 'Ring, and despite the lack of a factory-approved M on the hatch, it's looking decidedly more aggressive than its siblings. The front fascia is taking all the normal cues from BMW's motorsports department, with massive air intakes and a gaping central air dam, while a set of quad exhausts are framed within a new rear bumper. There's no word on when the hotter X5 will debut, but with the Paris Motor Show right around the corner, BMW surely has a few things up its sleeves.

Spy Shots: 2009 BMW 7 series, we're getting close!
    2008-06-26 08:17:00
Seriously, we're getting a bit tired of seeing lightly camo'd BMW 7- series sedans roaming the roads. Isn't it about time that the Bavarian automaker unleashed real photos upon the automotive world? These latest shots were taken by our friends over at Autofiends.com out in the Nevada desert, and we can again see that the much maligned flame-surfacing treatment common to BMWs from the last few years seems to be falling out of favor. In its stead are longer stretches of mostly flat sheet metal, though some vestigial character lines remain just below the greenhouse and door handles. Up front are exaggerated versions of the familiar kidney grilles which show clear inspiration from the Concept CS from a while back, though they are not nearly as monstrous as those seen on the next 5 Series. If rumors hold true, we can expect the spy shots to officially come to an end on July 7 when the new big Bimmer is expected to make its debut. [Source: Autofiends.com]

Spy Shots: Porsche 911 Turbo due for upgrades, intent on beating GT-R
    2008-06-26 08:02:00
With Porsche releasing its revisions to the 997 911 Carrera, Carrera S and its all-wheel-drive stablemates, the automaker is turning its attention to its turbocharged 911 and is intent to regain its crown from the Nissan GT-R. The new 911 Turbo is expected to get a boost in output by 20 hp to net over 490 hp total, along with a similar bump in torque through the use of the new direct injection system that's been implemented on the revised 997s. Not only will power increase, but fuel efficiency should grow by almost 13 percent, with a 14.5 percent reduction in CO2 emissions. The twin-turbo'd flat-six is also expected to get a slight increase in displacement, along with a new crankshaft and upgraded oil and water pump to ensure that things stay cool while thrashing the 'Ring. Expect a modified version of the new, seven-speed Doppel Kupplung (dual-clutch) gearbox to make an appearance on the new 911 Turbo, with tweaks to handle the prodigious torque of the blown mill. The new Turbo is

Spy Shots: 2009 Acura TL continues triangular theme
    2008-06-24 06:22:00
2009 Acura TL is in the midst of a major restyling of its entire range of sedans. While we've already seen the new TSX and RL (though an even newer RL has been spied), it's the TL that is the bread-and-butter model of the line. From what has been seen already,we're expecting a version of the blocky metal triangle at the front of the model, though the latest spy photos reveal that the angular theme will be carried over to the rear of the vehicle as well. It's always risky to make major changes to the high-volume model, but it appears as if Acura is not content to just play it safe with its line of uber-Hondas. While the stylists attempt to set new trends, we're pretty sure that the TL will continue to use a front wheel drive architecture and V6 engines, though a form of the automaker's SH AWD seems a distinct possibility.[Source: Temple of VTEC]More Acura Cars In WWW Car Value Blog:+ Spy Shots: Acura NSX hits the streets+ Spycam: 2009 Acura TL+ New York Auto Show 2008: 2009 Acura TSX

Spy Shots: Seat Ibiza Cupra Spotted On The Ring
    2008-06-20 10:50:00
The all new fourth generation SEAT Ibiza was revealed last month at the Madrid Motor Show with the three-door Ibiza sport-coupe version following a week later.SEAT has already confirmed the sporty FR and Cupra models are on the way and BridgeToGantry.com, have taken some images of the sport coupe wearing a twin-tip exhaust pipe and a cute roof wing. - Continued after the jump...It is speculated that the petrol engined Cupra will receive VW's 170hp 1.6-liter TSI engine producing 180 to 200hp. The Sport Coupe will make its public debut next month in London while the FR and Cupra models are expected to debut either at Paris this October or Geneva in 2009.

Spy Shots: Saab 9-4X Interior Photo
    2008-06-20 08:04:00
Saab's new 9-4X SUV spotted entering the Nurburgring circuit in Germany. The 9-4X shares the same platform with Saturn Vue and Opel Antara but will be revised to fit the premium segment.Sources have claimed this prototype has a 284 horsepower V6 engine under the hood mated to an automatic gear box. The dimensions of the model stand at a length 495cm and 192cm wide bringing an estimated weight to around 2180kg. The car carries some similar design cues to the 9-4X BioPower Concept with the aggressive half oval grille. But the overall profile of the vehicle had to be heavily toned down for production. The car is expected to make its world debut at next year's Detroit Motor Show before production commences at the GM factory in Mexico. - More pictures after the jump...

Spy Shots: Honda NSX Supercar Prototype
    2008-06-17 15:30:00
While both Nissan and Toyota are either have a supercar or working hard for a new one only an idiot would think Honda will let its competitors steal all the thunder in this segment. The spies at KGP Photography have captured the next Acura NSX in its prototype form for the first time. The car photographed under S2000 disguise recently.Unlike the previous mid-engined NSX this prototype is running a front-mid engine, with its powerplant placed well behind the front wheels to ensure excellent weight distribution. This should also allow the new NSX to offer 2+2 cabin accommodation, broadening its appeal against the Nissan GT-R and Lexus LF-A - particularly in the USA. -Continued after the jump...Gallery: Honda NSX Spy ShotsThe engine is still a mystery. There’s talk of a high-revving naturally aspirated V10. An output of 450 hp seems likely. Four-wheel-drive, with rearward bias, is also rumoured, the handling expected to be controlled by a version of Honda’s electro

Spy Shots: Acura NSX hits the streets
    2008-06-17 10:52:00
The spies at KGP Photography have captured the first shots of the next Acura NSX in its prototype form. Gone is the makeshift S2000 bodywork the car has been photographed in before, replaced by what appears to be its true form: a classic, long-hooded sports car profile that is significantly more muscular and aggressive-looking than the Advanced Sports Car Concept. The camo effectively hides most of the juicy details, particularly up front,. Still, you can make out the three well-defined intake openings there, as well as headlamps that are larger than the slitlike units shown on last year's concept car. In back, stacked square dual exhausts suggest plenty of underhood muscle, which makes sense since a V10 is expected to be nestled under the car's lengthy bonnet. The mule depicted above also suggests a BMW 6-series-like decklid aft of the rear glass, though there's no way of knowing if it incorporates taillamps that run the width of the rear, as we saw on the concept. No matter. It all a

    2008-06-16 04:34:00
Citroen is preparing to reveal its new C3 mini MPV. The new car has already spotted testing. The new Nissan Note rival uses the C3 base and aims to compete with Honda Jazz, Renault Modus and upcoming Opel Meriva. The C3 MPV carries some similar design cues to the C-SportLounge concept. The engine range will include some familiar PSA engines: 1.6 L and 1.4 L gasoline and 1.6 L diesel engines will be mated with a manuel or the SensoDrive automatic transmissions. Citroen plans to use Start-Stop system too.The C3 MPV is expected to make its debut in Paris Motor Show in October and be on sale early 2009.

Spy Shots: Dacia Mid-Size Sedan Spied
    2008-06-15 13:20:00
Dacia is working really serious to extend its lineup. They have already confirmed development of a new SUV, but these latest shots taken in Romania reveal the automaker is currently working on an all new mid-size sedan. A modified version of the Dacia Sandero platform provides the underpinnings of the new model but with an expected length of 4.6 meters, it will be considerably longer whilst maintaining the same wheelbase. The conservative Logan styling remains on the Dacia sedan which will be positioned above the Logan. Although we can only see glimpses of the design cues through the camoflage, we can conclusively say it shows a striking resemblance to the facelifted Logan hatchback that spotted totally uncovered last month. The new model variant will be launched early next year and will be built in Renault’s renovated factory in Bursa in Turkey.Gallery: Dacia's Mid-Size Sedan

    Spy Shots: 2011 Acura RL
    2008-06-15 10:01:00
It looks like Acura is getting serious about entering the large-car luxury game with a new version of its flagship sedan, the RL. The latest spy shots of the 2011 RL appear to corroborate the rumors suggesting that Honda will use a rear-wheel-drive layout in a bid to compete with its peer class, which includes the BMW 5 series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class.Tough much is hidden by the stretched-out TSX bodywork. But a closer look at the profile shows a longer hood with the front wheels moved farther forward, which not only improves the vehicle's looks with less front overhang but also indicates that the engine may be longitudinally mounted. The rumored V8 engine may be underhood of the next RL. Previous reports indicate its output at 420 horsepower, which should be matched with cylinder deactivation in an effort to keep fuel economy respectable. With these high gas prices, it wouldn't be a surprise to see the next RL with a V6 engine as standard, leaving the eight-cylinder as an option.

Spy Shots: 2011 Acura RL with maybe RWD and maybe V8
    2008-06-14 13:22:00
Acura may finally be getting serious about entering the large-car luxury game with a new version of its range-topping sedan, the RL. The latest spy shots of what is likely the 2011 RL appear to corroborate recent rumors suggesting that Honda will ditch the long-running front-wheel-drive layout in a bid to compete with its peer class, which includes the BMW 5 series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class. Though much is hidden by the stretched-out TSX bodywork, a close look at the profile shows a longer hood with the front wheels moved farther forward, which not only improves the vehicle's looks with less front overhang but also indicates that the engine may be longitudinally mounted.Considering the fact that a rear-wheel-drive architecture seems increasingly likely for the next RL, we can also hold out hope that the rumored V8 engine may be underhood. Previous reports peg its output at 420 horsepower, which should be matched with cylinder deactivation in an effort to keep fuel economy respectable.

    Spy Shots: Ford Ka caught
    2008-06-11 05:52:00
The newest Ford Ka has been spotted by Auto Express, and the car in the flesh looks almost exactly like the Ka renderings that Auto Express published a couple of weeks ago. The grille could be a bit smaller than the one in the rendering, but it's difficult to tell without the highlights and chrome. The number of discrete elements in the GT-R-like mouthpiece, though, is the same.Otherwise, the side swage line looks to be toned down a bit; and in the rendering, the Ford badge on the hatch that doubles as the latch has been replaced by a separate latch and key. Inside, Ford has said the car will outdo the car with which it shares underpinnings, the Fiat 500, and maintain the handling that has made it a European favorite for 12 years. All of which makes this a hot little Ka. Stay tuned for the Paris Motor Show when we see the real deal in person.[Source: Auto Express]

Spy Shots: Toyota/Subaru coupe caught in the wild
    2008-06-05 07:40:00
AutoExpress may have provided us with a rendering of what the new RWD Subaru coupe might look like, but Winding Road's hired spies have provided the real deal. Shot outside a test center in the UK (amidst white-out conditions), the camo-clad mule is sporting some body panels pilfered from the current Legacy, but with a Toyota emblem in front, a pair of Recaro buckets inside and a shrunken trunk, there's little doubt that this prototype is more than just your standard sedan. There's still no confirmation about what kind of output the 2.0-liter flat-four will be producing, as estimates have ranged from 180- to 220-hp, but grunt is expected to be shoveled to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox and pricing should start a few pennies shy of $20,000.[source: AutoExpress]

    Spy Shots: BMW 3-Series facelift
    2008-06-01 18:40:00
For those fond of delving deep into E90 minutiae, these are the best shots yet showing off the subtle changes coming to the BMW 3-series. For the rest of us, the tweaks are largely inconsequential. World Car Fans has unearthed some of the clearest shots yet, and the change that most people will notice are the taillamps, which look to get a slightly different shape. It even appears that the cutlines between the taillamp pieces on the trunklid won't line up with the rest of the cluster mounted in the quarter panel - asymmetry. The mirrors look to gain large repeaters for the blinkers, possibly just a camouflage ruse, and minor updates likely go on inside and underhood, too. Also likely to be quite noticeable once the wraps come off is a reshaped front fascia, which appears to place foglamps next to the license plate. Overall, a mild refreshing until a new 3-series can be whipped up. In the meantime, the new 7 will set the template for BMWs to come.[Source: World Car Fans]

Spy Shots: 2010 Jaguar XJ interior, look familiar?
    2008-05-28 12:08:00
Proving that Jaguar is truly serious about dumping its staid, old man-ish image is a lone spy shot of the upcoming redesigned XJ sedan's new interior. True, Jag's bread-and-butter sedan has not seen much in the way of changes since... well, never, but we weren't sure just how far Jaguar management was willing to go for its interior redesign. As it turns out, they didn't go very far at all, as the new XJ's duds seem to closely mimic those of its little sibling, the new XF sedan. Gone is the sweeping swath of wood. In its place is a large leather-lined panel that also houses a big touchscreen, which has proven to be refreshingly easy to use in past Jaguar models. Also making the jump from XF to XJ is the now familiar rotary gear selector called Jaguar Drive, which rises from its console-mounted position when the vehicle is started. In the XF, this is all part of the so-called "Jaguar handshake," and we'd bet that the starting procedure will stay roughly the same in the new XJ. While some

Spy Shots: Lexus LF-A engine spied
    2008-05-27 07:06:00
After countless spy photos and appearances at auto shows for the past several years in two different styling forms, the Lexus LF-A made its first official appearance on the road this weekend at the Nürburgring 24 hour race. At some point during the weekends festivities, Automobile managed to snag a shot of the engine lurking under the race-prepped Lexus' hood. We can't derive a lot of details from this single shot, but we can get a few tidbits.Looking at the area behind the intake plenum near the firewall on the driver's side, the engine looks long enough to likely be a V10 as has been previously postulated. The bank angle appears to be 90 degrees for a lower center of gravity than would be available from the normal 72-degree bank angle for a V10. The intake plenum is apparently made up of a composite material, again, likely for both overall weight reduction and and lowering the CG. Under that however, the intake runners appear to be metal. Finally the engine is set well back in the c

Spy Shots: Subaru Exiga caught ahead of debut
    2008-05-24 09:02:00
In the run-up to the Exiga's launch, Subaru has released a teaser site along with a darkened photo of its new seven-passenger wagon. But it was just a matter of time before we got a non-Subie-approved glimpse of the automaker's new people mover. According to the crew at NASIOC, the version you see above is sporting an optional aero package with some additional front skirting, side sills and window treatments. The massive glass roof is likely to be one of the features that Subaru will hype when the Exiga launches in Japan next month, but don't expect to see the new super-wagon in the U.S. anytime soon.[Source: NASIOC via Straightline]

Spy Shots: Lotus Esprit nearing completion
    2008-05-24 07:58:00
With its 60th anniversary rolling around the corner, Lotus isn't about to coast down the straightaway. After years of relying on Elise derivatives – including the Exige, 2-Eleven and Europa – the world-renowned gurus of handling are preparing two completely new models: the Eagle – a new 2+2 GT – and the return of the Esprit – the hardcore, Ferrari-battling supercar. After seeing numerous spy shots of the former, a test mule for the latter has emerged, giving us a glimpse at how the top-of-the-line Lotus is shaping up. The Esprit's design is tipped to be quite different from other Lotus models. But while the platform will be distinct from that of the compact Elise, Lotus' new Variable Vehicle Architecture will be malleable for future applications as well... although, with such a diverse sportscar range zooming over the horizon, we wonder what else Lotus has got in store.Sources claim power for the new Esprit will come from BMW – not an in-house engine like the previous Espri

Spy Shots: Next Pagani Zonda packing big engine, bigger intakes
    2008-05-15 21:24:00
Spies have caught a Pagani Zonda mule during a brief respite from testing and at first glance, not much has changed. The greenhouse looks similar to the current version, while the front end benefits from a revised splitter and a softening of the previous model's hard creases. While these changes are minimal at best, it's not until you scope out the massive air intakes above the rear fenders that you realize that big things are afoot. Those new inlets are rumored to feed a supercharged version of an AMG-sourced 5.4-liter V8 – the same 680-hp mill that powers the McLaren SLR. Partnered with Pagani's extensive use of carbon fiber and other lightweight components, there's little doubt that the new Zonda will crack the three-second mark to 60 and continue on to a top speed of well over 200 mph. No production dates are available yet, but expect the new model to debut sometime next year.[Source: AutoExpress]

Spy shots: Fisker Karma makes an appearance in California
    2008-05-11 08:57:00
Up until now, the Fisker Karma hasn't really been much more than a pretty face to go along with a promise. That changes today, thanks to a spy photographer who was lucky enough to catch the upcoming plug-in hybrid sedan out testing in California. Lawsuits often seem to have a dampening effect on enthusiasm, so it's good to see the Karma out and about. We can clearly see that the body is the same shape as what we all saw at its introduction earlier this year in Detroit. What we don't know yet is what's powering those shapely curves down the road. The first inclination from Autocar is that a Volkswagen 1.4-liter four-banger will provide power to the lithium ion batteries via a generator, but we really can't be sure what's being tested. Still, given the amount of electric know-how that Quantum Technologies, the electric powertrain supplier to Fisker, already has, we wouldn't be too surprised if something close to final-spec components were being run through their paces.UPDATE: For what it

Spy Shots: First Chevy Volt mules caught testing
    2008-04-17 00:16:55
Click above for high-res gallery of Chevy Volt mule spy shotsGM has been rather open when it comes to discussing the ongoing development of the Chevy Volt. Check here for our latest round of updates and you'll see that the Volt is moving along quite nicely. Still, there's a long way to go before the vehicle is ready for the road. The test track though, as you can see in the photo above, is another story entirely. According to Brenda Priddy's spy photographers, the Volt's E-Flex underpinnings are currently being tested cloaked under last-generation Malibu bodywork. We knew they'd be coming and are glad to see some visual proof. The production Volt will be based on GM's Delta platform, not the Malibu's architecture. The mules you see in these shots should contain an electric motor, an engine/generator set and some of the first battery packs from CPI and Continental. We're anxiously awaiting our chance to get a ride in one of these Malibu-bodied E-Flex mules.Gallery: Spy Shots: Chevy Volt

Spy Shots: Saab 9-4X prototype caught
    2008-04-12 10:57:00
What we have here are the first spy shots showing a production prototype of the upcoming Saab 9-4X crossover. This CUV was first revealed as the 9-4X BioPower Concept at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show, and as you can see from the spy shots in our gallery, the production version will be very similar to what we saw on stage in January. The Swedish designers even retained the sloping roof that begins its descent all the way up front at the a-pillars.The 9-4X is based on a heavily modified version of GM's Theta platform that also incorporates elements of the company's Epsilon 2 platform, effectively making it a unique chassis on which only this CUV and the upcoming Cadillac Provoq CUV will be based. We know the 9-4X will be offered with Saab's new XWD all-wheel-drive system, and engine choices should be similar to the rest of Saab's range and include turbocharged four- and six-cylinder motors. (Yes, the 9-7X SUV is offered with a naturally aspirated six- and eight-cylinder engine, but that doe

Spy Shots: Chevy Beat spotted on the road in China, is it real?
    2008-03-31 16:39:35
At last year's New York Auto Show, the Chevrolet mini car triplets were the stars of the show, particularly the lime green Chevy Beat. Later in the year at the LA Auto Show, GM announced that the Beat would indeed go into production around 2010. The first spy shots of what appears to be a Chevy Beat wearing the usual camo suit of vinyl and tape have now surfaced. Interestingly although the Beat was designed and engineering by GM's Korean team at Daewoo, this particular car was snapped in China. This of course raises the obvious question of whether in fact this is a genuine GM prototype or a premature knock-off from Chery or some other Chinese builder. Given that the Beat has been around for a year now and has made the rounds of all the auto shows, it would be pretty easy for someone to gather enough information to create a pretty realistic-looking replica. Only time will tell if this one is the real thing. We'll be watching for an introduction at the upcoming Beijing Motor Show. Galler

Car Feature: Spy Shots, Lambo Gallardo gets facelift
    2008-02-29 14:00:00
Spy photographer Pedro Domingues, part of Brenda Priddy & Company's network of covert auto shooters, snapped these shots of the forthcoming Lamborghini Gallardo LP550 in Portugal, ahead of its debut at the Geneva Auto Show. Priddy says the car, painted orange but almost completely covered in black tape, is said to be powered by a 5.2L V10 with 550hp. Priddy says her photographer saw "some top-end cars, such as the Maserati GranTurismo and Porsche 911 (on the track) testing. Among those cars was an orange Lamborghini Gallardo covered in black tape. This Gallardo had a different front bumper, smaller headlights, double dual exhaust, and the rear ventilation grille was one single piece instead of three portions." The Gallardo LP550 has re-designed front and rear fascias and rides on a stiffer body. Along with mechanical updates, an improved (and lighter) all-wheel-drive system and upgraded brakes, the LP550 will also come with an upgraded price tag, estimated somewhere in the $200k

Spy Shots: Latest Toyota Avensis Spy Photos
    2008-02-28 13:25:00
Almost two months after the first spy shots, the new Toyota Avensis caught by the photographers during winter testing. The third-generation Avensis is expected to be launched at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show. Since its launch in 2003, the second-generation Avensis has won the European Car of the Year award in 2004 and 156,000 units sold in 2005 alone. The current Avensis received its mid-product life cycle facelift at the Madrid Motor Show in 2006.But because of the heating up competition that Avensis is facing in the up-market medium-sized car market from e.g. the Mazda 6, Toyota is in the process of updating the Avensis range, with reportedly a hybrid, all-wheel drive and diesel hybrid models being available by 2010.Gallery: Toyota Avensis Spy Shots

Spy Shots: Porsche Panamera With Open Doors And Boot
    2008-02-26 14:22:00
We've already seen aplenty of the Porsche Panamera. So its silhouette is a familiar sight now in picture. These new shots give us our first glimpse into Porsche’s new saloon and the interior door panels seem almost production ready. Porsche always waits until everything has been thoroughly tested, so don’t expect the super saloon to debut before 2009.One thing we're sure is is that it will come with a relatively practical hatchback rear compartment where most of its rivals offer the more traditional boot. The rear doors look a great size. Naturally aspirated and twin turbocharged versions of the Cayenne’s 4.8L V8 producing 400hp and 500+hp are expected to be offered. A 300hp V6 version is rumored along a hybrid model.Gallery: Porsche Panamera Spy Shots

These are the first live pictures of the Urban Cruiser yet .The spotted mule is a diesel version; the photographer saw it was filling up with diesel. Urban Cruiser will aim to attract the younger buyers with its technologies, such as the navigation screen which can be viewed via a curved transparent panel, which is integrated with the centre console.Gallery: Toyota Urban Cruiser Spy Shots

    Spy Shots: Jaguar XF-R
    2008-02-24 11:55:00
The sporty XF-R spotted during testing by the spy photographers. Jaguar's current XF line-up includes 2.7L V6 diesel, 3.0L V6 petrol, 4.2L V8 petrol and a 4.2L supercharged V8 petrol. The majority of these models have received much praise from the motoring press with Jaguar’s XF bettering many of its German rivals in test comparisons. Not bad for a manufacturer on the sale. It's still unknown what will power the premium XF although it can probably be narrowed down to two options. A rework of the current 4.2L supercharged engine is not out of the equation, in its current guise it is good for 416bhp and a prodigious 560Nm of torque. However the Germans are regularly pumping 500+hp now out of the super saloons. It must also be noted that the SV8 XF is equipped with this very engine so customers will be expecting something special for the R model. The basic architecture of the 4.2L V8 is traceable all the way back to the 4.0L unit first introduced in 1997 so it is getting on

Lamborghini LP550 Spy Shots Ahead Geneva 2008

LP550, the new name of a facelifted, juiced-up Lamborghini Gallardo, is going to unveild at the next month's 2008 Geneva Auto Show. Here, we get some spies catching the updated Lamborghini covered head-to-toe in black tape, also, some details about the LP550 can be sure.In front, the two primary intakes retain their shape, but the front air dam itself is now much deeper and more pronounced, with a pair of new struts hanging down and framing what appears to be a third, central intake below the front bumper.New vents also adorn the leading edges of the front wheel wells. Out back, a new rear fascia incorporates reshaped (thinner) grillework for engine heat dissipation, as well as rehaped openings for the exhausts, which now use double-barreled tips.As Inside Line originally reported, the car's V10 grows to displace 5.2 liters and dishes out 550 horsepower. According to Priddy's shooter, it's also very quiet at idle.Don't worry, though -- the photographer also reports that it makes all the

We have previously reported the Alfa Romeo Junior. And now Alfa's new hatch spied for the first time in Torino. The four-meter long two-door, the Junior will be available in October 2008. Alfa plans to produce 75,000 units of the car annually. The main rivals of the new hatch will be the new Audi A1 and the MINI. The Junior is based on the Fiat Punto but it's expected to look much more attractive than its brother. Engine choices will come from the higher level of the Punto options, with choices ranging from 120 horsepower on up to 200 hp. A 1.8 liter turbo with 227 horsepower could be also possible, with diesel options becoming available at some point. 22 centimeters shorter than the Alfa Romeo 147, the Junior could be a fantastic city car . A convertible version may also get consideration. Although the heavy camouflage, the distinct Alfa grille was not entirely disguised. Speculation has it that the Alfa Romeo Junior may get an unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show in two weeks.

With the 206 CC, the first affordable coupé cabriolet on the market, Peugeot has started a trend. After this product, many car manufacturers have followed Peugeot's steps. The French automaker now wants to continue its success in the segment it has helped to create. And the CC version of the new 308 is being prepared for that reason. The car was caught in cold winter testing in northern Sweden, the car wears a much heavier camouflage to disguise the well known lines of the CC versions Peugeot produces. Aside the familiar Peugeot CC lines , the typical “feline” headlights and the taillights confirm the future car will be inspired in the 308 RC Z Concept.Besides the foldable hardtop and the current engines used by the 308, the main attraction the 308 CC is expected to offer is the diesel hybrid propulsion system. In fact, it may be a world first. If this hybrid version will ever go into the production is something we may have to wait a little longer to confirm, but the 308 CC is

Big rigs are awesome. We freely admit that this isn't our area of expertise, but when something particularly cool and truck-related comes along, we're more than happy to share. Thanks to an Autoblog reader named Johnny, who sent in the photos you see here, something cool indeed came along. We don't know if the pair of rigs you see are concepts or a new production model that's set to debut sometime soon. The Mid-America Trucking Show -- the biggest show in the industry -- is coming up in March, so these might be headed there. Our submitter at first thought that they might just be show vehicles, but some details lead him to believe that this could be a new production model sporting a nifty new hood design. The thing that has our tipster thinking "production" is that different sleeper configs are shown. The silver rig's is taller and incorporates a large fairing, while the black one's is less pronounced. Aside from the swoopy front end, the layout seems conventional, with exposed fuel tanks and the like. The final clue that these may be upcoming production trucks is on the rear mud flap of the black rig, which has something like "LongStar" or "LoadStar" emblazoned on it. (It's LoneStar -- see update below.) Most of International's trucks have "Star" nomenclature, and the "Star" moniker on the pictured vehicle is not one currently in use. We'll have to wait and see what plays out in the coming weeks, but one thing's certain: these things are bitchin'.[source:Autoblog]

    [Spy Shots] Toyota(토요타프리우스) Prius Facelift
    2007-09-28 15:53:50

    2009 Mercedes CLK Spy Shots
    2007-09-06 06:59:00
With Mercedes-Benz having revamped the C-Class this year and reports of a new E-Class due next year, the CLK is due the year after. The firstspy shots of thenew coupe have surfaced and it looks like it will be inheriting some styling cues from the new C including a grille and headlight shape like the Sport version of the sedan. The siamesed round headlights are definitely history and the cut line of the hood has moved from the top surface to the side of the fender, making a continuous line from nose to at at least the back edge of the side glass. It looks like the front edge of the hood is also a bit taller, probably to meet the latest Euro pedestrian safety standard.Recent Posts:+ 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show Star: Lancia+ 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show Preview: Seat Tribu Concept+ 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show Preview: Fiat Panda Aria+ 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show Preview: GM HydroGen4+ 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show Preview: Alfa Romeo's "Ultra Alfa"+ 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show Preview: BMW X6+ 2007 Frankf

Filed under: Frankfurt Auto Show, Spy Photos, Hatchbacks, FIAT The Fiat Punto Abarth — the tarted up version of the Punto by Fiat’s in-house tuning arm — has been seen on the roads of Turin, and it’s hot hot hot. The car looks every bit as good as the concept, perhaps even better, having swapped the [...]
