| Wrong Team Wins Stanley Cup | | 2008-06-05 07:03:08 | |
There has to be some kind of mistake here. Gary Bettman, commissioner of the NHL, rigged the entire hockey season just so the Pittsburgh Penguins---his favorite team---would win the Stanley Cup. Unfortunately, they lost in game 6 and some other team got to take home the trophy.
How on Earth are we supposed to have a conspiracy if the wrong team wins?
I'm not going to talk much more about this. Detroit winning the Cup is the finishing touch on a season I'm glad is over. The quicker we can all put 2007-08 behind us, the better.
My advice to you: stay clear of Red Wings blogs and/or fans for a while. They're going to be pretty intolerable for some time.
Pens in 9.

| | | Penguins back in Stanley Cup Finals | | 2008-05-29 12:08:00 | | Well, the Penguins are alive. After going the first two games without scoring a goal, the Pens won last night in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals. It was beginning to look like a one-sided sweep. Not now, though.Perhaps this will be a long series. | | By: The Hudson Line Blog | | |

| Stanley Cup Finals Game 3 | | 2008-05-28 10:28:36 | |
This is just a friendly reminder to take your SCF chit chat over to Pensburgh , where the Penguins die-hards like FrankD and JDunman will be desperately seeking as much moral support as they can get. Who better to prop up their sagging spirits when facing the Red Wings than Avalanche fans?
Head over to Pensburgh and chime in once he gets the thread posted.
Unless of course you're rooting against the Penguins and for the Red Wings. In that case, you should just find a dark cellar and lock yourself in it. Forever.

| | Former Nordique Mats Sundin Not Interested In The Stanley Cup | | 2007-06-12 19:52:00 | | Mats Sundin, the talented but not-getting-any-younger Swedish captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs, has agreed to another season with the team for a reasonable (and reduced) $5.5 million salary. Apparently Sundin, who has never won the Stanley Cup, prefers it that way. The Leafs aren't going to win it any time soon.Sundin was chosen by the Quebec Nordiques as the very first pick of the 1989 NHL Draft (the first ever European to go first), but was later traded in 1994 as part of a package deal for several players including superstars like Wendel Clark. While the Leafs got the better of that deal, the Nordiques went on to win two Stanley Cups as the Colorado Avalanche in the next few years with another star Swede, so it didn't sting that bad.Sundin currently holds the records for most consecutive 70-or-more point seasons (14, minus the lockout years of 94-95 and 04-05) and most overtime goals (15). He's also in the running for the coveted "most years on the wrong team" record, stil | | By: Dear Lord Stanley | | |

| Santa Claus Leads Water Fowl To First Stanley Cup Victory | | 2007-06-07 18:42:00 | | photo courtesy Getty ImagesThe Anaheim Ducks did what many a hockey pundit predicted they would do back when the season began: they won the Stanley Cup. The Mighty Senators Of Ottawa played well all year and crushed their playoff opponents, but just couldn't seal the deal in the final series. Now, for the first time ever, the Cup is going to California. How did the Ducks do it? Through a combination of good sportsmanship, clean play, and a classy demeanor on the ice at all times. It's always good to see that.As for individual players, Scott and Rob Niedermayer get to take the Cup home to mom together, and now Rob might be included in the will. No more suffering in Scotty's shadow. No sir.Oh, and everybody loves Chris Pronger, so his hoisting of the Cup will forever be a cherished moment in NHL history. .. | | By: Dear Lord Stanley | | |
| | Ducks win the Stanley Cup | | 2007-06-06 22:58:00 | | The Anaheim Ducks have beat the Ottawa Senators and are the Stanley Cup champions. I love how the Ducks are built with the toughness that the entire team has and the heart they play with. Hopefully more teams follow what the Ducks did, bring in tough players who know how to play and play physical. This is hockey baby, not soccer. Ducks' captain Scott Niedermayer won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the Playoff MVP. Congratulations to the whole Anaheim Ducks organization. | | By: NHL Hockey Fights | | |

At the start of the season, I don’t think anyone would have predicted this match-up for the Stanley Cup final. Sure, a lot of pundit-types picked the Ducks (hell, I did), including The Hockey News in its annual yearbook. [...] | | By: RotoRob | | |
