| My Agloco statistics for July | | 2007-07-31 18:21:00 | | It's the end of July and time to brag about all new referrals and hours I got this month:There is an increase in referral growth compared to June, although not a big one. That's not surprising, considering I'm on a holiday in London and don't have an internet access, so I don't do much more besides updating my blog occasionaly from internet cafes. I do have some posts written just waiting to be posted, but they will be more like short articles about marketing tools I use (such as forum signatures or traffic exchanges I wrote about before), rather than updates and bits of interesting news from Agloco.I will be returning home to Lithuania at the end of August and returning to my normal posting frequency of at least once a week. Until then, it seems my Agloco network is growing pretty nicely on it's own.

| Changing world of Web Site statistics | | 2007-07-15 17:19:13 | | Time on site is getting more popular press over the last couple of days since Nielsen said that this was how it was going to start augmenting stats over the traditional page view and hits versus unique IP address. Beths blog has a great summary of the general responses to the concept.
In the web 2.0 world, the time on site metric is critical in determining the quantity of time that someone spends on the site, versus what they do when they are there. When we did our research on which social networking leads to the longest time on site. If you are watching a video, then the duration on site is a good thing.
The other component to this though is the idea of quality, many sites have no idea of what the quality of the user is on their web site. This also feeds into the idea of advertising, and how on line advertising costs a lot, but the advertisers really don’t know if the users are quality, those people more inclined to actually purchase something.

It is bizarre to me how ridiculous so many reports and things I come across are. Things are just continuously obfuscated by the so-called “public servants”. To me the entire procedure is becoming alarmingly ridiculous, to the point where more individual citizens need to wake up and take notice and stop willingly ignoring the consistent BS coming from our bloated, lack-of-principle, just plain ridiculous current government. Mostly it doesn't any good for the actual business behind - it's just a way to lose time and do an "self-importance" checkout.
Statistics (amongst other things) help me see what people are looking for on my blog, and then there is Mybloglog - see the blue recent readers rectangle on the right column - that show me what fellow bloggers are visiting my site, and give me a chance to get in contact with them.
But no, that's not the kind of statistic I like most. There is something even more advanced - easy to spot on the web tracking service (I'm using the free version of Statcounter) and that is visits coming from e-mails. If somebody comes to my site following a link he received in his e-mail, this means that somebody else liked (or hated) my blog so much that he spent the time to share his thoughts and send an e-mail about it.
