Spy Shots: Acura NSX hits the streets
    2008-06-17 10:52:00
The spies at KGP Photography have captured the first shots of the next Acura NSX in its prototype form. Gone is the makeshift S2000 bodywork the car has been photographed in before, replaced by what appears to be its true form: a classic, long-hooded sports car profile that is significantly more muscular and aggressive-looking than the Advanced Sports Car Concept. The camo effectively hides most of the juicy details, particularly up front,. Still, you can make out the three well-defined intake openings there, as well as headlamps that are larger than the slitlike units shown on last year's concept car. In back, stacked square dual exhausts suggest plenty of underhood muscle, which makes sense since a V10 is expected to be nestled under the car's lengthy bonnet. The mule depicted above also suggests a BMW 6-series-like decklid aft of the rear glass, though there's no way of knowing if it incorporates taillamps that run the width of the rear, as we saw on the concept. No matter. It all a

Storm tears through much of Nutley, causing extensive damage, closing many streets and prompting officials to declare town wide State of Emergency
    2008-06-11 02:34:00
By Kevin Canessa Jr.The Hudson LineThe Nutley folks wake up to Wednesday morning will hardly look as it did just a day ago.A massive storm — which at least one resident says included a tornado — swept through town, downing trees, downing wires and closing streets, prompting local officials to declare a State of Emergency.Schools district wide are closed Wednesday as crews work to clean up the mess left behind by the storm.Additionally, much of the township is without power, and officials say it won't return until late Wednesday — possibly even later in some locations. There were very few streets in the entire township that didn't have at least one large tree toppled. In many areas, live electric, phone and cable wires were down and tangled in fallen trees.Police were out patrolling the streets in full force, and the fire department had trucks on stand-by, ready to roll at fire headquarters. The Nutley ShopRite was completely without power, and its burglar alarm sounded as late as 2

The 121 st Psalm w as a favorite of my father. The Scottish people called it "The Traveler's Psalm." Whenever a family member, a guest, or a friend was leaving on a journey. this psalm was read-or more often sung at family prayers. When my father left the "old country" as a teenager to sail alone to the United States, he was bidden farewell with this psalm.Over the years, my father enjoyed many hearty days and endured others that were dark and grim. In World War I, he carried this psalm's words with him into battle, and then out of it as he lay in a hospital for almost a year recovering from shrapnel wounds. In verse 1, the psalmist looked beyond the hills to the God who made them. My father lived in the toughest section of New York City, and though he seldom saw hills he held to the assurance that the God of the hills was the God of the dangerous streets as well. How many goings out and comings in my father made in his 87 years! And when he went out for the last time, I believe he was

Ocean Township Police Chief to pregnant cop: Tough it out and stay out on the streets
    2008-05-06 13:28:00
From the hard to believe news category comes this story from the Asbury Park Press, where an Ocean Township cop has been told she can't have light duty now that's she's pregnant. The officer in question, Sonia Henriquez, is a decorated officer, but the Ocean Police Chief Antonio Amodio Jr. says there aren't any "desk jobs" for her.And unfortunately for Henriquez, there isn't a policy on the books that dictates how to handle an officer's pregnancy. After all, there are only two women on the force, so who needs such a policy, right? What do you think? Be sure to comment after this post and to read the original story by clicking here.

Some of you who have left Cebu for more than 10 years now will be a little surprised at how the little provincial city has transformed itself into a miniature Manila in the making. Maybe that is a bit exaggerated but if you pass by these thoroughfares from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. you will be caught in horrendous traffic! Something quite unheard of about 10 to 20 years ago...Natalio Bacalso Avenue - we were coming from Mambaling going to the junction between Jones and N Bacalso Ave. That new big building at the end part of the street is where the old ABS-CBN office used to stand. Peculiar Streets around the world
    2008-02-16 05:57:04
Baldwin Street (New Zealand)World's steepest street Baldwin Street, in a quiet suburban part of New Zealand's southern city of Dunedin, is reputed to be the world's steepest street. It is located in the suburb of North East Valley, 3.5 kilometres northeast of Dunedin's city centre.A short straight street of some 350 metres length, Baldwin Street runs east from the valley of the Lindsay Creek up the side of Signal Hill. Its lower reaches are of only moderate steepness, and the surface is asphalt, but the upper reaches of this cul-de-sac are far steeper, and surfaced in concrete, for ease of maintenance (tar seal would flow down the slope on a warm day) and for safety in Dunedin's frosty winters. At its maximum, the slope of Baldwin Street is approximately 1:2.86 (19° or 35%) - that is, for every 2.86 metres travelled horizontally, the elevation rises by 1 metre. The street's steepness was unintentional. As with many other parts of Dunedin, and indeed New Zealand, streets were laid out

The Streets - Given A Right Hide In Brightside
    2007-10-27 19:55:23
I have never experienced such violent door staff as that of the establishments we visited last night in Brighton. I remember the Steering Wheel in Birmingham, where both me and members of The Twang used to frequent, was quite fruity on the way in, but I felt personally saddened by the beating the man guilty of drunken cheek got last night. That said, I thought the Brighton Festival was fun and the drum and bass as sweaty and prang as any night at Fabric. I even ended up with the performance fees for the Mitchells, Green and Roland, as when I accompanied Mayhem to settle up, I ended up being the person the manager happened to give the cash to. Then I forgot to give it back. Roland if you're reading this, just after we got thrown out, we got the money... anyway it's here when you need it.Read the complete blog entry here

It's not an artist's colony, nor is it dwarf's land. It's Chauen, located at the feet of two rocky mountains in Moroccan Rif. "Peaceful" and "magical" don't describe the ambiance of this place. It's the way sun shines in the narrow, blue streets. It's the way they find you and lead to the hotel to sell you this very Chauen specialty they grow higher in the mountains. It's the way you feel in a place that shouldn't exist. Cause it's a dream place.

Pakistan: Sharia gangs roam streets of capital city to enforce their law with threats
    2007-04-19 15:56:00
(Timesonline).- Shiraz Ahmed was tending his music store in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, when a group of 15 bearded young men walked in bearing bamboo poles and a chilling message.
