| Sweeping Out the Mariners | | 2008-07-24 09:47:00 | | It was a long and frustrating day in Seattle for the Red Sox in the finale of the series, as they left runners everywhere and had a game go to 12 innings. But the result was a good one, and the Sox swept the lowly Mariners to gain a split in the road trip, going 3-3, with the 6-3 win.Mike Lowell (pictured) was the hero, as he turned a terrific round-the-horn double play in the 11th, and broke the tie in the 12th with a two-run single.Clay Buchholz had his best start since return from Pawtucket, but allowed all three runs in going 5 1/3 innings. He gave up homers to Raul Ibanez and Jose Vidro. But Justin Masterson was outstanding in his relief appearance since coming back from AAA. He came into a two-on, one out situation and struck out the first two hitters, and then retired the next six hitters. He maybe the bridge the Sox need in getting to Jonathan Papelbon. The bullpen was terrific yesterday, pitching 6 2/3 scoreless innings. | | California Sweeping, On Such A Lovely Day...LA Angels 5 Boston Red Sox 3 | | 2008-07-21 04:18:00 | | The Boston Red Sox were sent packing by the LA Angels, heading north to Seattle after being swept by the home team yesterday. The Angels scored three in the eighth inning to not only tie the score but go up by two runs. It was something Boston could not overcome, and they ended up losing by a score of 5-3, their third straight loss to the Halos. Tim Wakefield pitched wonderfully yet again for seven innings, but back to back doubles off him in the eighth tied the score. It was then that Manny Delcarmen entered. Little Manny, who said his changup while warming up in the bullpen was superb, left one of those change of speed offerings out over the plate. That scored two, making it 5-3 Halos. LA closer Francisco Hernandez, the best in all of baseball (by far, stat-wise) sealed the deal and the sweep with a one-two-three scoreless ninth. It was the Angels' first three game sweep of the Sox in seven years. My goodness!"It seems like we never got a combination of good at-bats like they did," s | | By: Peter's Red Sox Forever | | |

| Sweeping the Snakes | | 2008-05-11 20:08:21 | | Game Thirty-Seven - Cubs 6 Diamondbacks 4
WP - Carlos Marmol (1-0) LP - Tony Pena (0-1) Save - Kerry Wood (7)
For the third game in a row the Cubs came from behind to pick up an impressive win....and in the process completed a 3-game sweep of the Arizona Diamondbacks for the first time since 2000. The marquee match-up of Carlos Zambrano against Randy Johnson was scratched because of bad weather. After a 58-minute rain delay, Sean Gallagher made his first big league start and turned in a solid outing. Gallagher pitched a lot better than his line indicates, 4 runs on 5 hits in 4 1/3 innings with 6 strikeouts and 3 walks. Chad Fox walked a pair with the bases loaded in the 5th to give the D'Backs the 4-2 lead.
Reed Johnson tied the game with an improbable 2-run homer in the bottom of the 7th off of Juan Cruz. Aramis Ramirez led off the 8th with a solid single to left. Ramirez stole 2nd, his first of the year, and advanced to 3rd on a perfectly placed bunt by Kosuke Fukudome. Geovany Sot | | By: Chicago Cubs Online

I'm not getting ads so it's not much of a worry to me but it seems that no one have been able to cash out yea? heard a rumor about this... the rumors goes like if you hit 40 plus in nuffnang... they will stop giving you ads and thus you are unable to hit the minimum amount to cash out. well.. | | Sweeping with Soto, Fontenot...and Lieber, Too | | 2008-04-11 00:35:39 | | Game Nine - Cubs 7 Pirates 3
WP - Jon Lieber (2-1) LP - Matt Morris (0-1) Save - None
Lou Piniella's crew came back from an early 3-1 deficit to win their 5th in a row and completed the 3-game sweep of the Pirates. Rich Hill struggled with his command and left after just 3 innings, exactly what the Cubs bullpen did not need but Jon Lieber came through once again. Lieber threw 4 1/3 innings of shutout ball, gave up 5 hits and did not walk a single batter. Bobby Howry recorded 2 outs on 3 pitches in the 8th and Kerry Wood retired the side in order in the 9th.
Geovany Soto and Mike Fontenot each hit 2-run home runs in the Cubs 5-run 6th inning. Soto was 4-for-5 on the night with 2 doubles to go along with his second long ball of the year. Reed Johnson added an RBI single and Derrek Lee drove in a pair on a ground out and a sacrifice fly. Alfonso Soriano was 2-for-5 with a double, 2 runs scored and a stolen base....and Ryan Theriot added a 2-for-3 night with a walk, a run scored and a bi | | By: Chicago Cubs Online
