Mitsubishi MRX09 "Racing Lancer" to tackle Dakar in '09
    2008-07-17 06:13:00
The purpose-built rally car that Mitsubishi fields in the no-longer-aptly-named 2009 Dakar (the venue for the race is now South America, remember) will shed its Pajero moniker as well as the nominal styling elements that tied it to the Mitsu SUV. Instead, the new MRX09 is the "Racing Lancer". As such, the front end gets the Lancer's "Run for your lives!" gaping maw grille and squinty headlamps. In its press release announcing the updated vehicle, Mitsubishi also reaches for another Lancer tie-in when it points out the happy coincidence that the MRX09's bodywork "is redolent of the Lancer Sportback", which is another way of saying, "it slopes down in the rear." In any case, the Lancerized bodywork is more appealing than the squareback rump the Pajero racer wore. The new race buggy's drivetrain consists of the erstwhile Pajero Evolution's competition-prepped e4WD system and 3.0L turbodiesel producing over 260 horses and 480 lb-ft of torque. Air will be caught, sand will be kicked, and if

2008 Denver Broncos - Breaking Down The Roster -- Defensive Tackle
    2008-07-11 22:52:55
D-Rob will still have a chance to get to Brady Last season the Broncos entered Training Camp with the beef necessary to make an impact in the AFC West.  Or so we thought.  Sam Adams, Jimmy Kennedy, Gerard Warren and others were going to stop the run, create havoc in the back field and make life miserable for opposing quarterbacks.  Too bad Defensive Coordinator Jim Bates never got the message.  Before the season started, Warren was so expendable the Broncos traded him to the Raiders and Kennedy was simply thrown on the trash heap for the like of Antwon Burton.  It didn't take long to show those moves, and the entire defensive interior, were a complete train wreck.  Even now the stats are hard to look at.  Only two teams  - Oakland and Miami - gave up more yards on the ground than the Broncos in 2007.  The 2282 yards allowed on the ground were nearly twice the amount given up by the Minnesota Vikings, who led the NFL in Rush defense(1185).&nb

Bell Aurens Longnose Land Rover looks ready to tackle the bush
    2008-07-05 16:01:00
Few things define British motoring better than a Land Rover and the classic roadster. So, why not combine the two? While the vehicles share nothing in common except their status as iconis, two German Brit-car aficionados have melded the two vehicle classes into the Bell Aurens Longnose Land Rover. The end result is somewhat reminiscent of a Willys Jeepster, though it's far more serious in intent. Custom bodywork sits atop a classic Land Rover Series chassis, to which V8 or V12 power is added -- it's up to the buyer. Four-wheel-drive and low-range gearing assure that the Landie's off-road credentials are left fully intact.Based on the rendering above, the vehicle certainly looks long and low, with no protection from the elements to speak of. Its lengthy bonnet leads to a passenger compartment fronted by folding windscreens. A choice of rear end styles will be available, including an optional boattail, perfect for fording muddy waters. You can read the long-winded press release in its e

Vernon Carey: Back to Right Tackle
    2008-06-11 23:16:29
Plenty of attention this offseason has been paid to the offensive line.  And that's to be expected when your team makes the first overall pick of the draft an offensive tackle.  Jake Long is certainly going to be the center of attention along that line.  And then there's also new guard, Justin Smiley, who is expected to come in and start right away.  Oh, and there's also a starting competition going on for the remaining guard spot that features some inexperienced young players battling it out. Meanwhile, one thing that might be getting overlooked a little bit is our new starting right tackle...who happens to be the same as the old starting right tackle.  The selection of Jake Long first overall quickly sent a message to Vernon Carey.  It was something along the lines of: "Thank you for playing surprisingly well at left tackle in '07.  Now get back to the right side." And that's exactly what Vernon is doing.  While he's said in the past that he

Better Know The Jacksonville Jaguars: Center, Offensive Guard and Tackle Drew Miller
    2008-06-10 05:00:39
Better Know a Jacksonville Jaguar: University of Florida Center Drew Miller: [Note by River City Rage, 06/10/08 12:10 AM EDT ] A good friend of Big Cat Country, Clodknocker, was kind enough to write this fantastic article about one of the newest Jaguars, Drew Miller.  Drew is the only offensive linemen acquired by the Jaguars during the offseason and has a better shot to make the team than most of our UFA's.  Enjoy! Drew comes from the University of Florida, where Jack Del Rio seems to have developed a relationship with Florida Coach Urban Meyer, and where the Jaguars have seemingly developed a pipeline for drafting 1th round picks; Reggie Nelson in 2007, and Derrick Harvey in 2008. He also played on a National Championship team. When asked about starting for the Gators on that team by GatorBait.net , he said: 'That was amazing! There is nothing you can compare that to...It's the best feeling I can think of for a player on a team to feel...' Mark Wheeler, the int

    Moving on to offensive tackle
    2008-06-06 06:00:45
The offensive guards joining our Big Blue View All-Time Giants will be Ron Stone and Chris Snee. Stone was the leading vote-getter with 25, and Snee had 22. Jack Stroud finished with 13 votes, and I'm not surprised he finished a distant third since many Giants fans know nothing about him. I'm not sure Snee has done enough yet to really deserve this honor, but he is a terrific player so I can't really complain. Anyway, let's move on to select the offensive tackles. Here are your nominees. Jumbo Elliott -- One Pro Bowl in a 14-year career with the Giants and Jets from 1988-2002. Anchored the left side of the Giants line for several seasons. Cal Hubbard -- Inducted into the Hall of Fame as a tackle in 1963. Played from 1927-36, but only two of those seasons were with the Giants. Was a two-way player who played tackle and guard on offense, and tackle and end on defense. Rosey Brown -- Inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1975. Brown was a nine-time Pro Bowler and eight-time All Pro. Played

Better Know the Jacksonville Jaguars: Defensive Tackle Theo Horrocks
    2008-06-03 03:10:52
[Note by River City Rage, 06/03/08 1:04 AM PDT ] Clodknocker was kind enough to do an interview with one of my favorite Defensive Tackle Prospects in Theo Horrocks.  Theo, in my opinion, is playing for a spot on the practice squad, unless there is a major shakeup on the defensive line.  There are only 53 roster spots, and to add guys like Horrocks could mean a serious deficiency elsewhere.  Regardless, he's a serious prospect and someone the Jaguars should develop!  -C Better Know a Player: Theo Horrocks! Theo attended Lincoln High in Fayetteville, Tennessee, a small town south of Nashville. Both he and fellow defensive tackle, Lamar Divens, were signed by Vanderbilt. Lamar later transferred to Tenn. State and is now an undrafted free agent  with the San Diego Chargers. As a true freshman, Theo played in nine games while starting in two. In his sophomore year, he played in 10 games and led the Commodore's defensive tackles with 15 so

Contract Extension: Jacksonville Jaguars extend Defensive Tackle Tony McDaniel
    2008-05-21 15:22:13
Jacksonville Sports Radio 101XL just reported that the Jaguars have agreed to a Contract Extension with Defensive Tackle Tony McDaniel.  The 6-7, 310 third year player is an imposing, albeit developing player on the roster.  McDaniel has played in 15 games in his career, but missed 12 last season due to injury. The Jaguars would not have traded Marcus Stroud if they did not believe that Tony McDaniel would develop into a force on the defensive line. Terms are not disclosed, as usual, but I will post them as soon as they are leaked. This is the third extension in the last few days with defensive tackle Rob Meier coming to terms with an extension along with tackle Richard Collier  Defensive End Paul Spicer was offered a contract, but did not come to an agreement. -Chris

Jaguars Tackle Richard Collier gets an extension: Khalif Barnes is on notice...
    2008-05-21 08:00:01
The Jaguars signed backup offensive lineman Richard Collier to a contract extension Friday and also signed undrafted rookie free-agent wide receiver Derek Richards. Richards' addition means the Jaguars have 14 undrafted rookies who have signed contracts, plus five draft picks who have yet to sign, bringing their roster total to 85 players. All 19 rookies arrived in Jacksonville on Friday and will be on the field Monday for the second week of organized team activities. Rookies weren't allowed to report for OTAs before May 15 because of an agreement the NFL has with the NCAA. Collier, originally signed by the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent out of Valdosta State in 2006, has played in just eight games in his first three seasons with one start. Last year, he was suspended for two games after being arrested on a DUI charge. No contract terms were disclosed for Collier, who was due to make $455,000 this year. He's the backup left tackle behind Khalif Barnes. Full article This is the

Audi R8 race car to tackle Nürburgring 24 hrs
    2008-05-17 08:58:00
This year's Nürburgring 24-hour endurance race will feature perhaps the most wicked Audi R8 yet: a lightweight, custom-built racer that makes the road car look tame by comparison. To comply with the requirements for participation in the race, the stock 4.2L V8 donates its block and is rebuilt from there. The race-spec motor's displacement drops to 4.0 liters but it delivers a hefty 530 horsepower and 353 lb-ft of torque. The Audi R8's stock front and rear bodywork is replaced by new, widebody carbon kevlar panels. The outboard intakes in the nose are replaced by blanks, and out back, the custom exhaust's dual outlets poke through the spot where the license plate would reside on the production car. Other obvious additions are the front splitter, large rear wing, rear diffuser, and multiple cutouts in the aft bodywork to help with engine cooling. The entire package weighs in at just 2,755 pounds -- this thing should absolutely haul. German magazine Sport-Auto has been covering the car's

Environmentally Friendly Sinkers (enviroweights) - Tackle Review
    2008-05-17 03:49:57
The world is becoming more environmentally conscious than ever before. Therefore anglers should be keen to show that we are caring for our environment, instead of the littering, killing machines we are sometimes made out to be. One of the worst pollutants many anglers add into the waterway is lead. In humans lead poisoning is cumulative and effects reproductive health and can even cause cancer, but in the water lead is extremely unfriendly to the marine ecosystem. Fortunately we now have an alternative.Enviroweights are fishing sinkers made from 100% biodegradable materials so that if they are lost they degrade safely into the marine environment. They are an Australian invention and are becoming quite popular in tackle shops all over the country. They are available in a variety of sinker shapes sizes and they are even making lead free jig heads.Personally I am a little wary of new products, but these sinkers are a great product and design. They work just as well as regular sinkers and

Jacksonville Jaguars Contract News: Defensive Tackle Rob Meier signs 5 year extension
    2008-05-15 15:38:47
Jacksonville Jaguars Defensive Tackle Rob Meier agreed to a 5 year contract extension today and became the heir apparant to Marcus Stroud on the defensive line.  The terms of the contract, as usual, are unknown, but the numbers are bigger than the 2.095 base salary he was due under his previous contract.  Meier, despite my terrible prediction that he might be one of the more vulnerable players on the roster, is a solid defensive tackle that filled in admirably in Stroud's absence.   When Stroud went to Buffalo, I assumed that defensive tackle would be a position of need going into the draft, but the Jaguars clearly think differently.  With Meier as the counterpart to Henderson, the Jaguars have Tony McDaniel and Derek Landri as the primary rotation in the middle.  No matter how you shake it, that's a pretty solid group.  I'd expect to see Landri fill in on 3rd downs and obvious passing situations, and I would not be surprised to see Meier/Land

    Offensive Tackle vs Defensive End
    2008-04-23 23:53:13
First off, I just want to apologize to all who tried logging onto this site over the past few hours.  There were some major technical issues all across SB Nation.  Hopefully, they are all behind us now.  A big shout out to Trei and his team for working behind the scenes here until all the issues were (hopefully) resolved. Now before we get into the meat of this post, I just wanted to say that the transition to the new site has been generally pretty smooth.  And that's thanks in large part to the great job being done by Trei and his team.  Kudos to those guys! Also, two things I wanted to highlight about the new site.  First of all, I want to point out the new "recommend" feature.  I think this feature is going to be very valuable, especially in regards to the FanPosts (formerly known as "diaries").  I want to really encourage you all to make use of the "recommend" feature for FanPosts because once a very informative/well-written FanPost gets a

    Tackle Happiness, Don’t Chase It

Very Helpful Tips to Tackle Baby Acne
    2008-03-30 00:18:00
Baby, the word itself gives a lot of happiness, dream, pleasure etc. no words to explain, especially for a woman it is a precious gift and for the family too. Mother is a person who spends lot of time with the baby, caring it very well by observing each and every bodily and behavioral activity. In rare case it must be a surprise for the mother to notice that their baby breaks out in little red pimples, which mostly occurs around 4 weeks of age. This state is known as Baby Acne. This might puzzle the mother because on some occasions the pimples can appear strongly and then seem to disappear. Baby Acne is very common and usually it appears on the cheeks and sometimes on the forehead, chin and even on the back. Baby acne has some common symptoms. In most cases, the acne first becomes visible to be a rash like small pimples which appears to be red. Occasionally, small whiteheads might be surrounded by reddish skin. They can become more prominent when your baby is hot or overheated or if hi

    Discount fishing tackle
    2008-03-29 15:40:00
Discount fishing tackleI know the walleye fishing season is at the door when I visit the fishing fair organized by Musky Canada every year in Lachine on the Montreal island. It's a routine every year, I get up early in the morning and I drive to pick up my walleye fishing buddy Marc Poirier. Marc was kind enough this morning to prepare two nice "café au lait" for our drive to the fishing fair. It's only a 20 minutes drive to Lachine from Marc's place. Lachine it's a portion of Montreal that we know well since we do some fall walleye fishing every year on Lake Saint-Louis.Fishing fair from the old daysThis fishing fair is kind of unique, the event is held in the basement of an old church. We got there around 9h00am and the place was already crowded. You can find a lot of discount fishing tackle such as: reel, rod, bait, home made lures, etc.. It's an opportunity to find some great discount tackle: new and used. For any serious musky angler in the Montreal area, it's a must ev

    Tackle shop addiction
    2008-03-29 06:15:47
Today was my once monthly tackle shop expedition and I am ashamed to say I visited 5 tackle shops and spent far too much money. Luckily my wife is a fairly keen angler and is supportive of my fishing habit (or should I say addiction). We trolled through the shops looking at all the latest and greatest bits and pieces. I found a rail mount snap lock rod holder which is Aussie made and designed. It locks the rod into place while still allowing for quick release when the fish takes the line. Like always I spent heaps of time looking at the new range of lures including the new Berkley Gulp colors and sizes that I just had to have.Do you have a tackle shop addiction? I would love to hear your stories - please leave a comment.

Defensive Tackle: A Plan B in Free Agency?
    2008-02-21 09:32:47
[editor's note, by Brian Galliford] Continuing our defensive tackle discussions, author jri111 takes a (very) in-depth look at some remaining tackle options that, come next week, could entice our Buffalo Bills. Take it away, John... End Note With the surprise announcement coming out of Green Bay that the Packers placed the franchise tag on talented defensive tackle Corey Williams, I thought it would be prudent to look at other free agent options at the position.  Like many Bills fans, I had my sights set on Williams as the missing link to their defensive tackle rotation.  However, with Williams essentially off the market (unless the Bills are willing to work out a trade with Green Bay for him - unlikely), the Bills may not like many of the remaining choices.  Below is a list of all the defensive tackles that were set to become unrestricted free agents on February 29, 2008.  Some have already signed extensions with their current teams, some have decided to retired,

Tackle Test: Fins Braid Review (Product Review)
    2008-02-13 20:30:32
If you are a regular reader to my blog you will remember that I had my fishing rods stolen recently and this also meant that I had to replace all my fishing line. I must admit to being a braid addict - I love the stuff - but I have only ever used Berkley Fireline. Being a bit of a creature of habit isn't always a good thing so I decided to try a new braid this time around.Fins Braid ReviewKnots and line strengthMy initial impressions of this line were that it was much more limp and smooth than fireline. This makes Fins braid is easy to tie and it knots very easily and smoothly. Like most braids the actual breaking strain is much higher than the manufacturers breaking strain, but even when this is taken into consideration the knot strength is very impressive. Knots are generally the weakest part of the braid, but because of the smoothness of Fins I didn't have any problems in this area.On the waterThe high vis yellow is very easy to see even on the brightest of days. Choosing the right fly line - tackle tips
    2008-01-08 08:45:21
For new fly fishers choosing the right equipment can be a daunting task. Over the next few weeks I am planning on bringing more fly fishing tackle tips so keep checking back.Matching the rod and line weight is a key feature of a balanced fly fishing system and the foundation of good casting. Casting power comes from the relationship of line to rod. When you pick up the line from the water, the line "loads" the rod by adding enough weight to flex it fully. Then, with a properly timed cast, the flexed rod straightens out, driving the line foreword.Line taperTo help you cast more efficiently most fly lines are tapered. This taper varies in weight, diameter and thickness over the length of the line. There are five main types of taper, each to meet a specific purposeWeight-forward (WF) taperThese are the most popular and the best choice if you are a beginnerThe first 30 feet or so of line is heavier because of its tapered front endThe rest of the line is thinner and is known as the running lineThe weight-forward line helps with long casts and better precision even in windy conditionsBass bug/saltwater (BBT) taperThis taper is much like the weight-forward design except that the front section does not run as longThis design helps with heavier flies, hence its use for catching feisty bass or bigger saltwater fishDouble taper (DT)DT fly lines are preferred by seasoned fly anglersThese lines work especially well in making delicate presentations on small- to medium-size rives since the belly is at the center, with both ends gradually taperingThis makes the line highly economical too because when one end wears out, you can turn the line around and use the other endThis line won't cast as far or provide as much wind resistance as a weight-forward lineShooting taper (ST)ST lines cast farther than other lines so they are designed for fast-running rivers and in extreme wind co

The Indy Star is reporting that offensive tackle Tarik Glenn will be leaving the team before the start of the season, announcing his retirement.  Glenn has told several people that he is going to walk away before the start of the season. Glenn’s agent, Ralph Cindrich, told the paper that any comment would have to come from Glenn.  That type of response from an agent seems to lead me to believe that Glenn is actually going to walk away.  The 10-year vet is a solid piece on the O-line, and him leaving is going to hurt the team as camp starts very soon, on July 29th.  Coach Tony Dungy also has spoken to Glenn, saying that “probably the best person to speak to on that his him” The Colts picked Glenn with their first pick of the 1997 draft.  Only wide out Marvin Harrison, who came to the team with their first pick of the 1996 draft, has been with the Colts longer than Glenn.  Glenn has started 154 regular-season games during his career. The last 138 of those games h

Bills Tackle Langston Walker an Underrated Addition
    2007-07-05 20:36:00
Walker has a great opportunity as the Bills' RT This has been an off-season in Buffalo where the Bills decided to focus its energies on improving the offensive line. The signings of Derrick Dockery, Langston Walker and Jason Whittle went a long way toward achieving that goal. Obviously those signings came at the expense of some of Buffalo's biggest players; namely Nate Clements, Takeo Spikes, London Fletcher and Willis McGahee. Many great NFL teams have been built in a similar fashion (from the lines out), so it's hard to argue with this logic. Yet many experts question these signings, especially when it comes to Langston Walker. A closer look at Walker's situation, his statistics and how he'll be utilized in Buffalo indicates that any criticism he's received may not have substance to it. Here's a closer look at Langston Walker and his true value to the Buffalo Bills: An Unfair Situation in Oakland Most critics of the 6'8", 366-pound Walker point

Roster analysis: No doubt who will play left tackle
    2007-06-29 13:35:53
Let's get back to our ongoing look at some of the positions where there are likely to be training camp battles. Today's we will look at left tackle, even though this 'battle' appears to be nothing more than a quick, bloodless skirmish that has already been won. The left tackle vacancy was, of course, created when GM Jerry Reese decided not to pay long-time starter Luke Petitgout like a premiere lineman (which he isn't) and released him. If you paid attention to news from the Giants recent mini-camp, you can pretty much tell how this is going to turn out. Let's go through it anyway, however. • In the blue corner. David Diehl, the 6-foot-5, 319-pound fifth-year player who is looking at starting in his fourth position on the line. • In the red corner. Guy Whimper, the second-year tackle from East Carolina. • In the white corner. Adam Koets, the rookie sixth-round draft choice from Oregon State. MY VIEW: Diehl, who is moving from left guard, too

Breaking Down The Roster - Part 2 - Defensive Tackle
    2007-06-18 16:41:21
Warren and Co. need to get in the face of opposing QB's First, it would be remiss of me not to acknowledge that I am late with this breakdown.  For that I apologize.  The is no reason good enough to explain other than to say I needed to take a weekend off.  I am back today, refreshed, re-energized, and to steal a bit from Mike and Mike, I am back and better than ever! Next, a belated Happy Father's Day to all you fathers out there.  I was able to enjoy 9 holes of golf yesterday so it was a nice day for me. Ok, now that all that stuff is out of the way, let's take a look at the Broncos, and more specifically the situation at defensive tackle.  The Broncos defense has had he same problem the past few years.  It has started strong only to wear down as the season went on.  Even in 2005, when the Broncos went 13-3 and advanced to the AFC Championship Game the defense struggled down the stretch, specifically the pass rush, and it really showed in the los

Rice to Tackle Darfur and Iran at G8
    2007-05-31 00:25:41
From Reuters:G8 to tackle Iran and Darfur Foreign ministers from the Group of Eight nations are to gather in Germany to discuss the nuclear standoff with Iran, the unresolved conflict in Sudan's Darfur region and other pressing international issues.(snip)Diplomats said US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is hoping her counterparts from Germany, Britain, France, Italy, Russia, Japan and Canada will agree that the elite club of industrialised nations should put pressure on Iran at next week's summit to suspend its nuclear enrichment programme.(snip)Sudan is another topic on the agenda. The United States and Britain are interested in expanding UN sanctions against Sudan due to the violence in its Darfur region, but Russia is wary such action would do little to calm the situation. On Darfur, Rice said she would discuss with G8 ministers what action could be taken at the UN Security Council to put pressure on Sudan's government following the US announcement of new unilateral sanctions

The Giants will have a left tackle -- really!
    2007-05-24 14:50:09
Beginning with Mel Kiper on draft day it has become fashionable to criticize Giants General Manager Jerry Reese for not addressing the team's need at left tackle. The latest to jump on this bandwagon is Football Outsiders, in its most recent Four Down on the NFC East. To me, this criticism ignores the fact that the tackle who was available when the Giants selected at No. 20 -- Joe Staley -- is a guy most experts think won't be ready to start this year. It also ignores the fact that the guy the Giants did select, cornerback Aaron Ross, could wind up starting AND returning punts, another area where the team needs help. Let's also remember that Luke Petitgout was not an All-Pro left tackle. He was a good player, but prone to penalties and hardly a great pass blocker. It's not like the Giants are trying to replace Jonathan Ogden.

The case for drafting a Tackle
    2007-04-24 08:59:00
The Kansas City Chiefs website has a great article which makes a strong case for drafting a tackle in the first round.Highlights:39 players started five games or more at left tackle during the 2006 season. Of that group 20 were selected in the first round of the NFL draft (51%), including 15 in the top half of the round.among the 12 teams that made the playoffs in the 2006 season, 11 had left tackles that’s were selected among the top 50 players in the NFL Draft.Only five of the 39 players (13%) entered the NFL as undrafted college free agents. That’s fewer undrafted starters than any other positions in the league.Bottom line: You need a good left tackle to be successful in the NFL. Left tackles are hard to come by and the good ones are gone early in the draft.

Sea Fishing Tackle Part 3 - End Tackle and Rigs
    2006-09-04 00:05:00
Continuing on with the series on sea fishing tackle this section will deal with what are termed rigs or end tackle, the business end containing the hook or hooks and different ways of attaching them and why.We make almost all of our own rigs so that we can customise them for specific venues / target species and, when you make you own end tackle you can be sure of the quality of the knots, hooks, swivels etc. For most of this section I will refer to the website of a company called Gemini who make the majority of bits and pieces we use and although we make our own end tackle they supply completed rigs ready to use as well as the bits needed to make them.Main rig line is normally Penn tuff Stuff and hook lengths / snoods are made from Sunset Amnesia as it tends not to 'kink', both lines can be purchased from all good tackle dealers.Where distance isn't an issue the rigs most used are either what is called a 1 up, 1 down flapper or a 2 up flapper - see here on the Gemini website. Sea Fishing Tackle Part 2 - Reels
    2006-08-25 00:53:00
Continuing on from part 1 of my description of the sea fishing tackle we use and why, this installment explains the different types of reels we use.The main reel I use is the Abu Garcia 6500C3 CT Mag Elite (pictured to the left). I have a pair of these multiplier (or baitcaster) reels set up in exactly the same way just in case the line breaks and I have to change over in a hurry. They are a great casting reel, are easy to control (for a multiplier!) and I match them with my Tip Tornado rods when fishing mainly 'clean' beaches or areas where massive winching power is not an issue. These reels are good with line of about 15lbs breaking strain.Wendy has a pair of Penn Surfmaster fixed spool reels, in fact these are the first proper reels we got and have been very reliable and with two spools for each she is able to load different line for different applications / types of venue (usually 2 x 15lbs, 1 x 18lbs and the last at 25lbs breaking strain).Fixed spool reels are much easier to con

Sea Fishing Tackle Part 1 - Rods
    2006-08-20 16:09:00
This entry marks a bit of a departure from the normal. As we're not fishing at the moment and the weather is a bit wet for walking I'll be outlining some of the gear we use in our sea fishing. This first installment is all about the rods we use, why we bought them and what we use them for. Before buying a new rod or even going into a tackle shop ask yourself a few basic questions. What type of fish do you want to catch, where do you want to catch them from and how do you want to catch them.Once you've answered these questions you'll have a much better idea one what it is you're looking for. Have a look in the sea angling magazines for reviews on the type of rod you're after, go into your local tackle shop and speak to the staff - most will be only to happy to help but the best advice I can give is 'try before you buy'. Most clubs or groups of anglers have regular get togethers or matches and will be happy to let you 'have a go'.Remember, money isn't everything, just becasue a
