| Olympic medal tally by per head of population | | 2008-08-18 06:56:00 | | The Beijing Olympics has been a showcase of the rise of China, and this is reflected in the medal tally. Over the coming decades this tally will only increase as the Chinese better manage their population and sporting institutions. With a traditional medal tally the powerhouse nations always top the list, but I often wonder about the smaller nations that over-achieve. The Economist have also pondered this and have produced a medal tally from the 2004 Olympics by per head of population.Note how the Caribbean and Eastern European countries fare.Source: Top Olympic countries

| Standing Up to be Counted in the Most Important Tally | | 2007-07-11 08:53:38 | | When Ron Paul first announced his candidacy my initial thought was that I hoped he would be able to get into a few debates and put his message in front of the American people for whatever duration fate allowed. If he succeeds in this, I thought, it will have been a nice little reminder of the traditional conservatism that my country used to celebrate; in the same way an old retired fighter’s appearance at ringside before a match reminds us of past glories.I didn’t at first think much of his chances of going the distance. My instincts gave voice to the same skepticism that George Stephanopoulos expressed in last Sunday’s interview on ABC’s This Week. It wasn’t until later, when I began to witness the reaction among others, among the online community, that it occurred to me that he might have a shot at winning. I admit with some embarrassment that it took this confirmation of collective opinion to spur me to earnest action. It is embarrassing for a couple of reasons. | Boggs Tally Over - Street Cred Intact - Possibly Increased | | 2007-07-10 18:07:21 | | We here at Tasty Booze along with a lot of our readers consider ourselves to be good drinkers. Back in May Lexington came across a story on the internet about some cat over in England who has been keeping a diary of every he beer he has drank since 1988. We all thought this was a little slice of genius and after a little bit of thought we had an idea. Why don’t we keep track of our beers for the month of June? So on June 1st we started the Official Beer Tally / Contest.
As you can see from the final results posted over in the sidebar everyone put up some pretty respectable numbers. Hank had the privilege of going on a week long Caribbean cruise right at the end of the month and managed to maintain a 12 beer a day average over about 8 days. Any man who is still expected to show up to work and wants to keep his job would be hard pressed to match that kind of productivity. One thing to keep in mind is that most of us don’t drink during the week. For instance I posted a 116 and I only ... | | By: Where the Boggs are Always Cold

| Reminder - Boggs Tally/Contest for June | | 2007-06-04 23:37:18 | | Just wanted to post a reminder that tomorrow 6/5/07 is the last day to submit your information to join the boggs tally for the month of June. Check out this post for the full details of how to enter.
As you can see from the new entry on the sidebar there were some pretty respectable numbers put up for the first weekend of the month. I thought my 4 Sunday afternoon beers at the ballpark would help to put me at the top but Lex had some Sunday evening BBQ beers that gave him the lead.
Since starting this contest 4 days ago I have come to realize this is a real double edge sword. While it is a lot of fun having a friendly drinking competion with the boys it is starting to confirm my girlfriend’s suspicions that I may have a drinking problem.... | | By: Where the Boggs are Always Cold

| Tasty Booze Official Beer Tally/Contest - Month of June | | 2007-05-31 19:41:11 | | In Lexington’s Diary of a Beer Drinker post earlier this month he made the suggestion that we should track the number of boggs we crush for the month of June. I think we are going to take him up on that offer. I am going to create a new section in the sidebar where we will update our running totals for the month a couple of times a week. Kind of like the crab totals on Deadliest Catch.
I don’t want to limit this month long contest of fun to only the five of us that write here on Tasty Booze. If you are a loyal reader and would like to have your tally included send an email to tastybooze [at] gmail [dot] com with the following information.
1. Your name, location and screen name if don’t want your real name posted.
2. A brief statement about yourself that will be posted on Tasty Booze.
3. Your estimate of the number of beers you will crush in June.
Basic Rules:
1. This is based on the honor system. Don’t be a jackass.
2. Any and all beers count. This isn’t limited to just boggs... | | By: Where the Boggs are Always Cold
