| Foreign Language Degrees Prepare You for Much More Than Teaching | | 2008-06-28 00:00:00 | | Most people associate a foreign language degree with teaching, assuming that someone with a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, French, Japanese or some other foreign language will teach the language. Most students with fluency in a second language, however, pursue career options that focus on the private sector or government service. In fact, having [...] | | By: Resources Zone | | |

| lecturer teaching medicine | | 2008-06-16 13:06:23 | | A lecturer teaching medicine was giving a classoom observation. He took out a jar of yellow liquid. "This," he explained, "is urine. To be a doctor, you have to be observant of color, smell, sight, and taste." After saying so, he dipped his finger into the jar and put it into his mouth. His class watched in amazement, most in disgust. But being the good students that they were, the jar was passed, and one by one, they dipped their finger into the jar and put it into their mouths. After the last student was done, the lecturer shook his head. "If any of you had been observant, you would have noticed that I put my second finger into the jar and my third finger into my mouth."

| | | Earthly Mother | The extra-ordinary teaching of Divine Feminine in Essene Gospel | | 2008-05-20 15:33:08 | | 1.One of the most striking highlight of Essene Gospel of Peace is Jesus Christ's teaching of Earthly Mother. Its not only startling for traditional Christians who inherited present day Christian doctrines that came through filtering out of almost all gnostic teachings, thus stripped off most of the mystical, esoteric teachings of Christ; but as its clear, even the people of his time was also puzzled when Christ was teaching using the term, "Earthly Mother" to the audience (i wonder what was the original aramaic / hebrew term for Earthly Mother). In the beginning of the Essene Gospel of Peace, book one, as Christ was among many sick and maimed, the opening passage records what proceeded from his blessed lips: "Happy are you that you hunger for the truth, for I will satisfy you with the bread of wisdom. Happy are you, that you knock, for I will open to you the door of life. Happy are you, that you would cast off the power of Satan, for I will lead you into the Kingdom of our Mother's ange | | By: Inspirations and Creative Thoughts | | |

By using the kind of visual stimulation usually found in an arcade, organisers hope to convey a serious message about the environment. It surely is difficult to explain to our kids that our present lifestyle is causing damage to the very world we live in. How can we ever try to retrace back to the times where there were no TV's, cellphones, or even cars. Can we ask them or anybody for that matter to give up conveniences like heater and airconditioners so that we can save an ailing planet? Very difficult indeed... But then in life we have to make difficult choices. | | By: Live That Life!

| | Teaching Your Doctor - Health Care Tips You Need to Know | | 2008-03-17 10:16:42 | | As patients, we all like to think our doctors are on top of their game -- they know everything there is to know about our particular health problem. We like to think this because we are putting our health and our lives in their hands. However, what we really should be thinking is how can doctors stay current on all the new developments, knowledge and recommended treatments available? After all, there are so many new medical findings/reports given everyday it is impossible for any one doctor to stay current in all areas of medicine. It is even a challenge for a doctor to stay current in one specialized area of medicine.Yes, doctors are required to take continuing education classes, but the number of hours required per year is minimal compared to all the new medical information available each and every day. To stay current, doctors need to make a concerted effort to learn what is new in their particular practicing area. | | Teaching | | 2008-01-06 23:05:59 | | Today is back-to-school day for a lot of students, and teachers (my kids returned last Thursday). Parents can breathe a sigh of relief and babysitting grandparents can finally leave for Florida. But for teachers, it’s back to work. She’s gotten to know this year’s class well enough now, but the realization sinks in that she only has five months now to get them all up to speed for the next grade. Then the entire process starts over for the next group of 20, 30, or 40 kids. For the life of me, I don’t see how they do it. I feel like I am beating my head against the wall every day just trying to get a simple concept across to two kids, who I know very well. Add onto that the diversity of students’ abilities and backgrounds, non-cooperation from parents, school boards that constantly change policies, and governmental red tape, and you see that most teachers are no less than miracle workers. | | Buddha's wisdom and Islamic teaching of 'renounce evil with good' | | 2007-09-27 19:13:24 | | 1.Once someone came to Buddha and started abusing him. He went on and on, abuse after abuse in a loud voice. He kept looking at Buddha for a reaction, but Buddha was as he was - calm, serene, smiling. This further agitated him and he hurled more abuses. Buddha again was calm, serene, smiling, looking more peaceful than ever. Then this person stopped for a moment. and said, "I have been going on and on, abusing you, but there is no reaction from your side. You remain in peace. How come!?!"Now Buddha finally spoke: "It is like if someone offers you sweets, what would you do?". The man replied, "Well, I like sweets so I would eat them and enjoy them".Buddha continued, "Okay, now if someone offered you something bitter, what would you do?". The man replied quickly, "Ofcourse, I would not accept it, I would return it to the one who has given it."Buddha said, "So I choose not to accept your abuses, you may take them back". At this, the man realised the wisdom and greatness of Buddha. May peace be upon Siddhattha Gautama Buddha, the enlightened teacher of humanity.2.Nor can goodness and evil be equal. Repel evil with what is better: lo! then between whom and thee there was enmity will be transformed as though he was a bosom friend. And no one shall be granted such goodness except those who exercise patience and self-restraint ... The Quran 41.34,35Renounce evil with that which is best. The Quran 23:96Those who patiently persevere, seeking their Lord's Countenance and are regular in prayer and spend in charity secretly and openly of that which We bestow upon them, and overcome evil with good. | | 8 Tips On Teaching Your Child To Spend Wisely | | 2007-09-22 05:02:38 | | 1. A regular allowance, no matter how small, helps give a child a sense of independence and responsibility. He learns how money can be used to buy things he needs or wants.2. Unless the child has chance to spend his money himself, in any way he wants, he will not have the real learning experience, so don't tell him how to spend his money or to scold him when you find out he has spent it foolishly.3. Do not give him more money when he runs short of it so that he will learn to limit his expenditures or to make choices. If he needs to have money badly, give him some but consider it an advance to be deducted from his next allowance.4. Your child's allowance should be enough to cover all his needs, plus a little extra for emergency use or savings. Until he learns how to make both ends meet or to make it last till the next allowance, it is better to give the money on a daily basis. Most mothers give children a daily allowance while they are in the grades, a weekly allowance when they rea | | By: Book of Tips - Find helpful tips that can help you | | |

| | What Are They Teaching Our Kids? | | 2007-08-30 19:01:00 | | Remember years and years ago, when you were in school? Remember having to wear your itchy ‘Good’ clothes, gather with your similarly dressed classmates, stand in front of your beaming parents, and sing Christmas carols? Remember when you were allowed to sing Christmas carols? My eyes opened a few years ago when I attended my daughters’ school Christmas concert. This event occurs at public schools throughout the free world, and has done unimpeded for decades. Not that time.Any reference to ‘Christmas’ was glaringly absent. When the curtains first opened, I was met with a large, sparkling-silver sign hanging on the back wall of the gymnasium stage: PEACE. My reaction, admittedly, was anything but Christian. What the Hell…?The event slipped quickly from bad to horrible when the first group of singers began their rendition of that all-time Christmas favorite, Imagine by John Lennon. Seriously. I’m not joking. The follow-up ‘All You Need Is Love’, with the interspersed tear-jerking speeches by our young about the need for global hand-holding capped the transition of the evening from Christmas concert to Beatlemania. I still don’t know what set me off the most: the disbelief that other parents seemed perfectly fine with this or the frustration that you still had to put on a brave face because it is, after all, your children up their performing for you.The politically-correct education agenda isn’t limited to the Holidays, however. Just last year, popular Canadian leftwing environazi David Suzuki made news when he accepted an invitation to speak at a Calgary elementary school. His speech, intended to be about his specialty, namely the environment, quickly turned into an anti-Harper government spiel. Apparently, the Calgary Board of Education prescribes to the theory: If you want to sway the masses, get ‘em while they’re young.Over and over, parents are drilled with the messages of taking an interest in your kid’s lives. Be aware of their internet use! Are they using drugs? Are they having sex? Now, on top of it all, we need to look closer at the place our children are being taught. We don’t need to take our education system back in time to the 1950’s. We just need to get back to the basics. Teach the kids what they need to learn – math, language, science. The 3 ‘r’s. Perhaps even how to balance a bank account.Leave to leftwing propaganda out. | | By: The Moderate Separatist | | |

Love means expression of oneness.Jesus the Christ said: 'Love thy neighbour as thyself.' But Jesus did not explain why we should love our neighbours as ourselves. That explanation you will find in Vedas, in the Vedanta philosophy, in the Upanishad. The Upanishad, which are the earliest writings of this universal philosophy, teach that we should love our neighbours as ourselves, not because they have done us some good or been kind to us, but even if they have spoken unkind words, even if they have taken wicked steps against us, even if they are spiteful and jealous of us, still we should love them because we are one with our neighbours in spirit. There is only One Spirit. | | Teaching Teens The Responsibility Of Money. | | 2007-07-25 18:53:58 | | I am certainly the last person anyone would want to go to for advice on money. I have learned my lessons hard, more than once. I wish I had learned at a young age how to handle my money and save. Being an impulse shopper hasn’t helped any either.
Having a checking account as a teen might be more than some can handle-not to mention the fact if they get in trouble-for example they bounce a check, the added fees would have to be paid. PAYjr Visa Buxx is a safe option. Teens can save their hard-earned money, give it to their parents and from there the parents can add money to the account. A good way to learn how to save and how to spend.
PAYjr Visa Buxx is currently holding a teen credit card design competition, where teens can design their own cards for a chance to win an Apple laptop or an iPod Nano. Winnnig designs -which are based on votes, will be used in the gallery and others will be allowed to choose the cards for purchase. And- to help gain those votes, the designer will b | | By: Ramblings Of An Undisturbed Mind

| | Racism Boiling Seething Teaching Living Breathing | | 2007-06-03 03:41:00 | | (Poetryman's Photomontage) Racism is more than a mere visual cue... At its root is fear. And within it an unwillingness to adapt, a seething attempt at self worth, a boiling animalism that cannot be quenched by lynching or dragging a body behind a pick-up truck until the skin is removed leaving only the skeleton. It isn't merely distinguishing one by the color of their skin; it is religious, economic, national, birth, party affiliation, gender, physical characteristics, tribal, elitist, biblical, nationalistic, jingoistic, and can only be remedied through acceptance. In other words, the individual must not only be taught that everyone is created equal, but the world must show by example that each human born under the sun is no different than the next. That each individual is no more deserving of clean air and water and love than the next. A tall order maybe, but one that is within reach because every human, when they are very young, is innocent. | | Teaching Values Part II | | 2007-05-23 03:34:00 | | I was raised in a very conservative home and there were very strong values spoken and lived there. Most of the specifics have not followed me into my parenting, but there are a few things that I stress. One of them is clear priorities.Sadie spent the evening begging to go away for Memorial Day Weekend with a friend, thus skipping church. We have never allowed our kids to do that, and we're not going to start now. It may seem harsh to some, but our reasoning is that we need to make a clear statement about priorities and this is one way that we do it.I owe a great deal of my ability to be strong and non-conforming to my parents who never hesitated in having us toe the line when it came to priorities. They were clear and they were firm.I never realized how difficult it must have been for them in having to set those and keep them with us. It's no fun to be the "reason" your child is miserable. But we're not parenting for the todays, but for the endless stream of tomorrows that | | By: Never a Dull Moment | | |
| | Should Schools Stop Teaching the Holocaust to Avoid Offending Muslim Students? | | 2007-04-03 02:49:00 | | The Cafferty File, part of The Situation Room on CNN, poses a question every hour The Situation Room is on. This is today's 7:00 question, and a response.------------------------------------------------------------7 p.m.: Should schools drop the Holocaust from history lessons to avoid offending Muslim pupils?First of all, how does the Holocaust offend Muslims? If Wikipedia is correct, Hitler was Christian. Second, what about Jews' and Gypsies' feelings? If we don’t teach about this grave injustice, it could happen again. Wouldn’t many Americans be offended if the Revolutionary War wasn’t taught in out schools? The Holocaust is just as important to humanities history as the Revolutionary War was to our history. Please pick a better question next time, Jack. | | By: Thoughts on the World | | |
