| Toothpaste for Boozehounds: Get your choppers your whitest, with wine, whiskey flavors | | 2008-04-23 09:57:13 | | For the average boozehound, dredging themselves out of bed and scraping a toothbrush across their hairy tongue, is part of the pre-work grooming regimen (after dousing less than fragrant loafers with the remainder of a bottle of cologne). The taste of toothpaste though, is second only to a whiff of the previous night's poisons when it comes to potentially launching that morning bagel into an anti-gravity, toilet-bound trajectory. So, it's a wonder that at Toothpasteworld.com, speaking of gravity, you can procure all sorts of boozy flavors that would turn your stomach worse than a NASA gyroscope. Michigan dentist and self-professed 'toothpaste collector' Val Kolpakov features American-produced bourbon, whiskey, wine, and for the high-rolling set, champagne flavors. Why these exist is anyone's guess, as the market for people looking to give themselves booze breath when they're not drinking is likely a small one and those who are drinking would like to rid themselves of it. | “Oral Me” toothpaste, just lip service | | 2008-04-07 15:12:52 | | A toothpaste sold at a hypermarket here, has raised a few eyebrows as well as having drawn laughter as its brand name was considered to be rather suggestive by some people.
The brand? ‘Oral-Me’.
The product is a toothpaste manufactured by a Kulim, Kedah, based company.
Melissa Leong, 28, from Sabah, felt the brand name carried sexual connotation.

| What’s Inside A Tube Of Colgate Whitening Toothpaste ? | | 2007-10-10 21:34:35 | | Wired Magazine analyzed the chemical composition of the contents inside a tube of ‘Colgate Whitening Oxygen Bubbles Brisk Mint‘ toothpaste, and the findings were disturbing to say the least.
Snip from the article:
Hydrated Silica
You know those packets of silica gel that come with electronic gear? The ones that are clearly labeled DO NOT EAT? Same stuff. Here it’s used as a gentle abrasive to scrub food and plaque stains from the teeth. Turns out it’s not really poisonous.
Propylene Glycol
Remember the headlines about contaminated Chinese toothpaste? Bootleggers were using cheaper diethylene glycol, which, like its propylene cousin, is a syrupy liquid that acts as a thickener and moisturizer. Of course, DEG is toxic and sometimes used as antifreeze.

| The wisdom of toothpaste | | 2007-07-06 03:38:57 | | My toothpaste thinks I’m stupid.
How do I know this? Because it tells me, “For best results, squeeze tube from bottom and flatten as you go up.”
Thank you, o great wise toothpaste, for this spark of enlightenment.
Seriously, though, I find this bit of advice totally unnecessary and a bit insulting. With regards to using toothpaste, I humbly hypothesize that most people fall into one of two classes:
1) They care, in which case they’ve already figured this out.
2) They don’t care, in which case… they don’t care.
I certainly hope Crest doesn’t get a lot of fan mail along the lines of, “Thanks so much for telling me how to best use this toothpaste!!! Now brushing my teeth is better than ever, because I know to squeeze the tube from the bottom! You totally saved my life!!!!!!”
These people would belong to a hopefully extinct class of people, specifically, 3) They care, and they are idiots.

| Toxic Toothpaste Found on U.S Shelves | | 2007-06-03 16:08:00 | | Consumers were advised yesterday to discard all toothpaste made in China after federal health officials said they found Chinese-made toothpaste containing a poison used in some antifreeze in three locations: Miami, the Port of Los Angeles and Puerto Rico.Although there are no reports of anyone being harmed by the toothpaste, the Food and Drug Administration warned that the Chinese products had a “low but meaningful risk of toxicity and injury” to children and people with kidney or liver disease. The United States is the seventh country to find tainted Chinese toothpaste within its borders in recent weeks.Agency officials said they found toothpaste containing a small amount of diethylene glycol, a sweet, syrupy poison, at a Dollar Plus retail store in Miami, sold under the brand name ShiR Fresh Mint Fluoride Paste. The F.D.A. also identified nine other brands of Chinese toothpaste that contain diethylene glycol, some with concentrations of 3 percent to 4 percent. Chinese regulators s | | By: Elder Abuse | | |

| Don’t use Toothpaste made in China | | 2007-06-02 01:04:47 | | Please avoid using toothpaste made in China because it may contain a poisonous chemical used in antifreeze. Out of caution, the Food and Drug Administration said, people should throw away toothpaste with labeling that says it was made in China. The FDA is concerned that these products may contain diethylene glycol. -Source | | By: Kopitiam.SG | | |

| Toothpaste for Sale | | 2007-03-30 22:42:00 | | A quick skim through craigslist.org today revealed the following goodies:Free used tennis balls, free waste Vegetable Oil, Aquafresh toothpaste for a dollar and Fruit Roll Ups, also a dollar. The culture of craigslist is fascinating. A fair amount of people posting items for sale do so simply to connect with someone new in their community. I'm a willing participant in this community dating service. I must confess, a few years ago I contacted a woman who was giving away an unopened pack of sanitary pads. They were on my shopping list, she lived in my neighborhood and I was interested in getting to know new people in my community. So I called her. Both of us knew before I even got there that this had nothing to do with my material needs. No one posts an item like that for selfish reasons and anyone strange enough to respond is probably just looking for an excuse to get out of the house. I planned for the visit to take at least an hour. It took longer. The woman had delivered a baby | | By: Hollywood Flakes: Get 'em While They're Hot | | |
