REPORT - Travis Henry Tests Positive...Again; Facing Suspension
    2008-07-11 11:03:26
MyFox Colorado is reporting that former Broncos runningback Travis Henry has once again tested positive for marijuana and is facing a yearlong suspension.  A highly placed source in the NFL told Fox 31 sports reporter Josina Anderson that Henry failed the test that the troubled player would be "up for a suspension". This comes after Henry had successfully appealed a positive test taken prior to last season.  Claiming the test was a "false positive", Henry won his claim against the NFL, though as part of the agreement he remained in the NFL's substance abuser program. Earlier this spring the Broncos released Henry stating that the former Bill and Titan was "too inconsistent as a person. When you're too inconsistent as a person, you usually aren't going to win championships,". When the source was asked if Henry knew of the positive test, he replied, "“I was told this result is recent. [Henry] should already be informed. If he didn’t know, he knows now,” I thin...

'Enough Is Enough'; Shanahan Tired Of Travis Henry's Antics
    2008-06-03 06:58:38
Time to put this to bed.  We have talked at nauseum about Travis Henry, and now that the poster boy for moral standing is no longer wearing Orange and Blue, we can put the Travis Henry era behind us.  First, Mike Shanahan closed the book by meeting with memebers of the media, discussing his reasons why the cord was cut with last season's prized Free Agent acquisition -- The release speaks volumes.  You've got the little things, and if you don't do the little things, obviously you can't count on somebody. I think our players expected it. I don't think it really surprised anybody. They know the type of standard we demand and if you don't step up to that standard, you're not going to be with us. We have certain expectations about the way we do things. He didn't meet those. That's it. So this is the way we're going to go. He's an excellent running back, but to do the things, (to) go where we want to go, everybody's got to be going the right direction. (He's) just too ...

Not Wanting Competition, Travis Henry Stopped Showing Up
    2008-06-02 21:23:33
So says Bill Williamson on Hashmarks - The Broncos' decision to release Travis Henry this morning has been coming for months. Broncos insiders said the team had been unhappy with Henry virtually all spring. In a rare statement about a released player, Denver coach Mike Shanahan made a point to say Henry had a lack of "commitment" to the team. The final straw came in the past week when Henry stopped attending the team's OTA sessions. Yes, Henry was hurt with a hamstring injury he suffered 17 days ago, but injured players are required to show up for work. Henry didn't. Perhaps he was upset that he knew he had to fight for playing time with Selvin Young, Ryan Torain and Michael Pittman. Whatever the reason, the team tired of Henry's lack of dedication. The Henry experience in Denver was one giant disaster. After he signed a five-year deal with more than $12 million in bonuses, Henry's days in Denver began to get rocky last August when it was disclosed in a Georgia court that he had f...

    TRAVIS HENRY RELEASED!
    2008-06-02 11:00:31
The Denver Broncos on Monday released running back Travis Henry, it was announced.“Although Travis has the ability to be one of the top running backs in the NFL, we have to make decisions that are in the best interests of our organization and its goal of winning a Super Bowl,” Head Coach Mike Shanahan said. “We did not feel his commitment to the Broncos was enough to warrant a spot on this football team.”Henry was signed by the Broncos as a free agent on March 5, 2007, and rushed for 691 yards on 167 carries (4.1 avg.) with four touchdowns in 12 games (7 starts) during his only season with the club. Before joining the Broncos, the eighth-year player spent two seasons (2005-06) with Tennessee after beginning his career with Buffalo (2001-04). More To Come.... ...

Travis Henry Will Remain With Broncos
    2008-02-21 10:44:23
As first reported in today's Horse Tracks, Travis Henry has agreed to a restructured contract with the Broncos, assuring his spot on the 2008 squad.  This had been the belief in these parts for a couple of weeks now, after Henry stated his desire to 'make it right' with the Broncos.   This was a key move for the Broncos, especially after Shanny publically professed that Selvin Young was not the type of back that could carry the ball 25 times a game.  That admission essentialy told the world that the Broncos were going to add a back at some point, whether it was a move with Henry, or another available running back. "Travis wants to make it right in Denver," his agent, Hadley Engelhard, said Wednesday. "That is the big reason why he is back. He thinks it can work there." Engelhard did not disclose the terms of the restructured deal. Originally, the Broncos would have owed a large portion of a $6 million option bonus to Henry on Feb. 29. Henry still has four years re...

Travis Henry Wins Appeal; Avoids Suspension -- Sam Adams, Jeff Shoate Released
    2007-12-04 15:59:01
This statement was released by the Denver Broncos at 4:55pm EST -- The Denver Broncos today were informed by the National Football League that running back Travis Henry has won his appeal. We are pleased with this outcome and happy that Travis has been absolved of any wrongdoing with respect to this matter. The Broncos look forward to Travis Henry's continued participation on the playing field. UPDATE #2 -- Per ESPN.com -- After waiting for a ruling, Henry was notified Tuesday afternoon he won his appeal. "Travis Henry will remain in the substance abuse program, must continue to adhere to all aspects of it, but will not be suspended following his appeal," the NFL announced in a statement Tuesday. "The defense of hair samples and lie detector tests was irrelevant and unconvincing, but our substance abuse program is based on meeting the highest standards and respecting player rights in all phases of its administration." Basically, the NFL is giving Henry a mulligan, a do...

    Naysayers Nation: Travis Henry
    2007-08-09 20:38:49
If you read the inaugaral output from the Naysayers Nation last week, you noticed that we promised our readers an in-depth analysis of the Atlanta offense. This week, The Naysayers were all ready to challenge the popular opinion that the Falcons' O will be crippled with Joey Harrington at the helm. We were ready to sing the praises of Alge Crumpler and Jerious Norwood, a TJI favorite, and argue the case that Coach Bobby Petrino just might be the offensive mastermind that can turn Joey into the star he was destined to be.But, as Naysayers often do, we backpedaled. I guess we realized some things: newly acquired Joe Horn is 64 years old, Warrick Dunn is out for awhile, Harrington is perhaps the worst #3 draft pick in league history, and (the straw that broke the Falcon's talon) Crumpler has gone down with a knee injury. There just might be not be anything to argue against anymore. Draft Norwood--he'll get you some yards and some scores. But stay away from everyone else. We Naysayers m...

    2007-05-24 14:00:00
RB Travis Henry, Denver Broncos 2006 Stats: 1211 rushing yards, 78 receiving yards, 7 total TDsProjected 2007 Stats: 1355 rushing yards, 204 receiving yards, 9 total TDsProjected Fantasy Round: 5th RoundRunning Backs to be Picked ahead of Travis Henry: LaDainian Tomlinson, Larry Johnson, Steven Jackson, etc. Fantasy Outlook: Why should you draft Travis Henry: Travis Henry will likely be given the bulk of the carries for Denver in 2007, and in his three seasons as a featured back (2002, 2003, and 2006), he has averaged 1335 rushing yards and ten touchdowns. He also averaged over four yards per carry in each season of that aforementioned stint.  Why you may want to stay away from drafting Travis Henry: In his six year career, there has only been one season (2002) where Henry played in all 16 games, and he has missed a combined total of 18 contests in his brief tenure. Henry has never been much of a threat as a receiver out of the backfield as he has averaged a mere 13.67 recept...
