Trent Green Returns to St. Louis
    2008-03-10 18:07:00
Thankfully we won't be seeing the return of Trent Green in Miami. I suspected we weren't interested, but I can't shake the feeling that our front office always has a tendency to panic and make dumb signings when it comes to QB.Green has signed with the Rams for 3 years and 9 million dollars. Seems like a lot for a guy who might not ever play again, but then again the Rams don't have the most stable QB situation in the league. Marc Bulger looked terrible last season when he wasn't hurt, so signing Green is a nice security blanket....

Trent Green placed on Injured Reserve; Kerry Reed activated
    2007-10-20 21:41:54
Well there was a little talk this week, especially in the papers, about how a storm was quiety brewing between the Dolphins and Trent Green.  Green was feeling better and better since his concussion and wanted to play again this season.  Cam Cameron and the Dolphins didn't want Trent to risk any further damage.  Oh, and the Dolphins wanted to get looks at both Cleo Lemon and John Beck this year and Green's return might hinder that.  So how would this end?  We have our answer.  Trent Green was placed on Injured Reserve, ending his 2007 season.  Here's what Cam said in a statement: "At this point, this is the best thing for Trent and the team. The doctors have prescribed rest for now. No long-term decisions regarding Trent's future have been made." So will this end Trent's career?  It's too early to tell at this point.  But here's what Green says about the move: I appreciate the way the organization has handled this. I realize this is in the best interest of my long-term health and I want nothing but the best for the team. Right now I haven't made any decisions about my future, but I talked with the Dolphins about staying involved in some capacity the rest of the season." You have to love his spirit, if nothing else.  Even though he's possibly done for his career, he is looking to stay involved with the Dolphins for the rest of the season, probably to mentor John Beck.  So for those of you who questioned why we got Green, here's the reason.  I imagine Green is having a very positive impact on Beck.  Do you think Daunte Culpepper would have stuck around to stay involved with the team if thi situation happened to him?  I think not, my friends.  Kudos to Trent Green; a classy person for sure! The other bit of news is that Kerry Reed was signed from the practice squad to fill the roster spot vacated by Trent.  Reed is the team's 5th receiver on the roster.  It's unlikely he'll see much time this week, but his role could expand if he gets some reps with the starters in practice and plays the way he did in training camp.  Maybe he and Beck will show that chemistry we all read about during camp.  If nothing else, he's another young kid we can all hope grows into a good player over time.  The potential seems to be there with Reed so let's see what this kid has. Thoughts on these moves below......

The Trent Green/John Beck Situation: A Voice of Reason
    2007-09-19 21:24:01
It's no secret to those who read my site on a regular basis that I can't wait to see John Beck get his chance to start.  The kid looks the part of something special, everything from his physical tools to the way he handles himself off the field.  And already, there has been an uproar in Miami, with many fans already calling for Beck to replace Trent Green after just 2 games.  If you do read this site often, then you know that I'm not in favor of starting Beck yet.  I'm not saying he shouldn't start at all this year, but just not yet.   My argument when I originally posted this was guys like Patrick Ramsey, Tim Couch, and David Carr.  These 3 guys were clearly put in too soon, behind very shaky offensive lines, and got beat up game after game, got their confidence shaken, and became NFL afterthoughts.  Others point to Peyton Manning as the poster child for starting your QB as a rookie and letting him learn.  Then they also point to how others aro...

Dolphins Weekend Round-Up: Zach Thomas; Trent Green; Cap Update
    2007-07-02 07:02:24
THOMAS NOT A HALL-OF-FAMER? Pete Prisco, of CBS Sportsline, was a guy I always thought was a good writer; a guy that I tought actually did know his stuff.  But now I begin to wonder.  He recently did an article about current players and their chance at making the Hall of Fame.  Apparently, Zach Thomas doesn't even have a chance, according to Prisco.  He has Thomas listed in the category of "No Way," but has Ray Lewis as a definite and Brian Urlacher as a "Needs More Work."  How can Urlacher be closer to Canton than Thomas?  Just one glance at the numbers and it's easy to see that, if anything, Thomas has a better shot than Urlacher.  Thomas averages 9.6 tackles per game (6 solo) while Urlacher averages 7.9 tackles per game (6 solo).  Thomas also has a higher forced turnover rate per game (0.2) than Urlacher does (0.17) and has 4 career TDs while Brian has none.  But hey, what do I know?  I guess I'm just too big of a "homer" to see h...

Dolphin Matter: Trent Green is OK With Scrambled Eggs, Mrs. Green is Not
    2007-06-28 19:02:43
Some Dolphins bits to keep you in the loop on a wet Thursday… Quarterback Trent Green, speaking on The Dan Patrick Show on 760 (WEFL-AM) Wednesday, said Jason Taylor’s comments in a recent Sports Illustrated story upset his wife. “She was more upset than I was,” Green said of his wife, Julie, “so I told her, over the course of an interview that could go a few hours, things are pieced together, you get caught up in the emotion or your adrenaline gets going and you’re talking about a topic … I defended Jason a little bit because this was done before I was traded, so maybe he felt compelled to defend Daunte [Culpepper] or the situation the Dolphins were in, so a lot of different scenarios play into it.” The hate-crime charges against a Davie man involved in a road-rage incident with Taylor were reduced in a plea deal that resulted in a year’s probation and a fine. Redmond Charles Burns, 25, pled out to resisting arrest without v...

What They're Saying: Trent Green Edition
    2007-06-08 07:03:48
Now that the dust has begun to clear, now is a good time to go around the web and see what others are saying in regards to the Dolphins recent aquisition of Trent Green.   Let's start with Armando Salguero: If the Dolphins let go of Culpepper, by either releasing or trading him, they effectively establish the pecking order for the quarterback position. They settle an unsettled position. But they also expose coach Cam Cameron as someone who was not sincere when he said that every position is open to competition. If every position is indeed open to competition, you can't just waive or trade a player such as Culpepper without giving him a chance to, well, compete. And you really can't do it if he's not on the field and 100 percent healthy because that shows you had no intention of ever having a legitimate competition in the first place. Aside from casting an aspersion on Cameron's word, such a move would also send a bad message to the players competing at other positions. How ca...

2007 Fantasy Football Player Profile-Trent Green
    2007-06-06 14:00:00
QB Trent Green, Miami Dolphins 2006 Stats: 1342 passing yards, 7 total TDs, 9 INTsProjected 2007 Stats: 3033 passing yards, 15 total TDs, 11 INTsProjected Fantasy Round: 10th RoundQuarterbacks to be Picked ahead of Trent Green: Peyton Manning, Carson Palmer, Drew Brees, etc. Fantasy Outlook: Why should you draft Trent Green: Trent Green was only able to play in eight games last season as a result of a serious concussion.  However, prior to last season, Green had played in every game for five consecutive seasons.  If you forget about his injury plagued 2006, the three prior seasons, Green averaged 4214 passing yards and 23 total touchdowns. In other words, he has been a very reliable quarterback that knows how to play the game. Why you may want to stay away from drafting Trent Green: Green sustained a severe concussion last season, and he may now be more susceptible to having the injury occur again. When Green did come back from his injury last season, he ended the year ...

    Trent Green Reaction
    2007-06-06 07:01:03
So the Dolphins have traded what will likely be a 2008 4th round pick for Trent Green. My initial reaction? Though quite a few Dolphin fans are against this, I actually like the move despite being a Daunte Culpepper fan and supporter. I feel like he was given a raw deal as he will not even have a shot to battle for the starting QB job when all he did while in Miami was work his tail off for this team. However, my thoughts are simple. Trent Green is the safer bet for the 2007 Miami Dolphins. Whatever happens beyond 2007 is unknown, as it's likely that this will be John Beck's team by some point in 2008. So why do I say that Green is the safer bet? First of all, Culpepper was just given clearance to fully participate at mini-camp (which is non-contact, by the way). Green, on the other hand, has been participating in Kansas City's mini-camp and, according to John Clayton's report 2 days ago on ESPN, Green has looked very sharp. That's the obvious reason why Green is the...

Saturday Dolphin Buzz: Rookie’s Signed and Trent Green Update
    2007-05-26 18:23:36
Good morning Dolphin fans. Here are some good Dolphin bits for you to chew on… The evolving and revolving Dolphins offensive line took another spin when coach Cam Cameron announced incumbent starting center Rex Hadnot is now the starting right guard. Cam Cameron has given Chris Liwienski the starting nod at left guard after a brief competition with Dan Stevenson. Liwienski, 31, came in as an unrestricted free agent from the Cardinals in March. He was a key member of the Vikings’ line that protected quarterback Daunte Culpepper from 2000-04 when he earned his three Pro Bowl berths. Dolphins coach Cam Cameron indicated Friday that if Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Trent Green were to join the team, that wouldn’t necessarily mean Daunte Culpepper would immediately leave. The NFL Network’s Jim Fassel reported Friday that the Dolphins have upped their offer for Trent Green to a conditional sixth-round pick. The Chiefs have been holding out for a fourth-r...

    Trent Green Holds Press Conference
    2007-05-22 21:58:03
Trent Green just finished a press conference he held upon arrival for the Chiefs' OTAs.  I'm working on getting his actual words, but you can click here to get to a summary of what was said courtesy of Arrowhead Pride. After reading that, I'd be interested in hearing his tone of voice. To me, though, it seems like Green feels like a very frustrated person right now. And who wouldn't be? You have to feel bad for the guy. Having Carl Peterson for your boss has to take a toll on you! Hopefully, this can get resolved sooner rather than later. Ideally, it'd be nice to give up only a 6th rounder and then be able to keep Green and DC together in Miami at least through training camp. But I'm not sure how likely that is. I guess we all need to continue to just wait and see... **UPDATE** ESPN's John Clayton is reporting that the Dolphins are willing to up their offer for Trent Green to a conditional 5th round pick. However, he reports that the Dolphins have kind of lo...

Trent Green to Chris Chambers, TouchDOH!!
    2007-05-13 20:53:23
If you already thought Carl Peterson was crazy like I have here and here then this will just make you shoot milk out of your nose. Carl Peterson thinks so highly of his veteran QB Trent Green that he actually asked the Dolphins to beef up there offer to complete a trade. Barry Jackson revealed in his Sunday Florida Sports Buzz column that Carl had asked for a certain receiver to be thrown into the mix… The Kansas City Chiefs have such an inflated opinion of Trent Green’s value that they even raised Chris Chambers’ name in trade talks. The Dolphins, obviously, wouldn’t do that. Carl you dumb ass the whole point of this deal is to have a viable Trent Green to Chris Chambers connection this season. Don’t you know who has been throwing him the ball the last couple of years? Chris Chambers is an elite wide receiver and it’s all his QB’s fault he has dropped and obscene amount of passes the past couple of years. /sarcasm carl peterson, chr...
