Detection - How to find a Trojan
    2008-07-15 07:37:00
By their very nature trojan horses virus are difficult to find but how to remove trojan is not too hard. Unlike viruses they will not corrupt files or delete things you might notice, they do their best to stay out of sight and avoid detection. That said, they are pieces of software and no software can run on any computer without leaving some trace of its existance. Below I will cover three basic trojan removal tools that will uncover the presence of the majority of trojan horses. None of these costs any money, in fact two of them are already installed on every windows computer!NetstatAll trojans need to communicate. If they do not do that they are useless for their intended purpose. This is the second major weakness of most trojan horses, their communication leaves a trail you can follow to remove the trojan. The Netstat command lists all the open connections to and from your PC and are great to remove trojans. To use it, open a DOS box and enter the command netstat -an this will list a...

    Trojan Condoms Writes to Brett
    2008-03-28 07:50:00
I get asked probably once a day what kind of replies I get to my letters. I get very, very few replies. These letters are frequently offensive and ignorant enough that they don't even warrant a reply from the most magnanimous and consumer-friendly of organizations. So imagine my surprise last night when probably my most absurd and stupid letter got a response. There was a thick envelope waiting for me when I got home from work last night. Who wrote to lil' ol' me? The Church & Dwight Company, Inc. These guys are the parent company of Trojan condoms.Click here to read my incredibly stupid letter.Because of my supposed raging ignorance about condoms, they were kind enough to send a small brochure about how to use their product next time I'm with the lady-folk. The form letter from them was half disappointing, and half hilarious.I write to them suggesting that their water balloons might be good for sex, and they say "sorry".Also, for my trouble, they sent me a check for $5. (I've block...

Note on Computer Worms & Trojan Horses
    2008-03-05 05:40:47
Another two of the most common network attacks apart from computer viruses are Computer Worms & Trojan Horses. A Computer Worm is similar to a Virus as it can repeatedly make copies of itself. A Worm is slightly special than a virus as it does not need an executable file in order to replicate itself. A Worm can make copies on its own & infect other networks, eating up plenty of bandwidth.Another feared network attack is the Trojan Horse which does not replicate itself. It is a program that looks like a legitimate program but in secret, is a fake. When installed or downloaded to a computer, a certain action can trigger the Trojan Horse do start its purpose. It could be to send information to a source outside the network or a program that will cause harm to the computer & network....

    Be Careful of Trojan.Qhost.WU
    2008-01-01 01:31:59
BitDefender mentions the Trojan as “Trojan.Qhost.WU”. It hijacks some of the Google ads on certain websites & replaces them with that of other ad providers. Obviously it is something that Google would be paying attention & devise a remedy.I have not experience the Trojan first hand but there are people who have seen its effects. Just be careful & practice extra when clicking on something online. Google is aware of it so I reckon the Trojan won’t be too bothersome in the near future....

    Irritating Spylocked Malware Trojan
    2007-12-25 01:46:17
I once got a nasty Spylocked Malware (marketing Trojan) embedded into my notebook. The Trojan somehow got downloaded along with software for online television from the internet. Once it was downloaded, the Malware makes a taskbar icon on the lower right of the computer screen. It starts blinking, & notifying you of the imaginary virus & spyware threats on your computer. The unethical type of marketing the Spylocked product makes it the same as a any other spyware or malware threat. Users do not get to choose to uninstall Spylocked. Spybot Search & Destroy easily detects & deletes it....

Trojan.Qhost.WU Playing with Google Text Ads
    2007-12-20 10:06:00
New Trojan software has been found picking the pockets of Google and its publishing partners, and potentially exposing Web surfers to more malware. BitDefender, a software security company based in Bucharest, Romania, on Tuesday said that it had detected a new Trojan (Trojan.Qhost.WU) that replaces Google AdSense text ads with ads from a different, potentially malicious provider. "This is a serious situation that damages users and Webmasters alike," said Attila-Mihaly Balazs, a BitDefender virus analyst, in a statement. "Users are affected because the advertisements and/or the linked sites may contain malicious code, which is a very likely situation, given that they are promoted using malware in the first place. Webmasters are affected because the Trojan takes away viewers and thus a possible money source from their Web sites." Google said in an e-mailed statement that it is "committed to ensuring the safety and security of our users and our advertisers. We actively work to detect and...

    Trojan Hijacks Google Text Ads
    2007-12-20 03:00:00
The Trojan.Qhost.WU threat works by modifying the hijacked computer's Hosts file to redirect the initial query to the Google AdSense servers to a malicious host.Instead of getting advertising content from Google's "page2.googlesyndication.com" domain, the Trojan, discovered Dec. 17, instructs the infected machine to fetch ads from a different, third-party ad server, according to BitDefender virus researcher Attila Balazs. ...

    The Islamist Trojan Horse
    2007-10-04 20:26:00
"We're fighting them there, so we don't have to fight them here" has become a hymn for the American right and an abominable lie to the left. But drowned out by all the noise is the fact that "they" are here already, having landed a long time ago and gotten very busy indeed constructing the American wing of jihad.Have you watched the Arabic Channel, also known as TAC, which serves the New York region? Probably not, as most New Yorkers neither understand nor speak Arabic. But if you are among the estimated 1 million viewers — legal and illegal, new and old Arabic-speaking immigrants to the tri-state area — who tune in daily to Channel 507 on Time Warner Cable, this is what you can get: A daily dose of Islamic jurisprudence from an Egyptian sheik, Amr Khaled, who comes direct from Cairo as TAC's prime advocate of "peaceful jihad," on how the duty of every Arab-American is to become first, second, and only a member of the Muslim Ummah. More......
