| | A Reply to a Troll | | 2008-03-07 17:45:21 | | What I am not, apparently, is a historian. There is no truth behind this jocularity, but there is a serious accusation that needs to be addressed. In a recent thread, posted by somebody who exhibits a severe naivety to logical discourse, I have been called out, as it were. In any case, this is a response, although concise as it may be, to the presupposition of this little nimrod (used in the Biblical sense, of course) for everything abrasive. Three headers, or points, are situated throughout the post. They are so called “What is Research?”, “What is a Historian?”, and “What is peer review?”. In all three of these categories, the author has listed examples of the criteria that need to be met in order to be sufficiently considered an expert. In my examination of the three topics, I have not found a single criterion that would somehow invalidate my position as a Historian. read more

| | By: Blog do Curitibocas | | |

| Oh, Joy! My First Internet Troll | | 2007-07-26 10:28:43 | | I received a comment this morning from Anonymous:I feel bad I have to give traffic to this website.. I wont [sic] be coming back. It sucks that the internet has the power to give complete idiots a voice. You are clueless if you are talking about the nation as a whole. How about this? If one of our American boys, including Webb, (he is a MD athlete), medal at worlds you shut your website down and never return. P.S. Look at how many HS boys broke 9 min in the 2 mile this past year. AndrewIt's ironic that "Andrew" is complaining about "the internet [having] the power to give complete idiots a voice" since he is the spokesman and poster child for their group. "Andrew" likes to disagree – and I certainly don't mind disagreements on this website – but "Andrew" states no position of his own, other than offering up some nonsense about high school runners breaking 9 minutes in the 2 mile. Not only that, but he hides behind a veil of anonymity, not leaving his e-mail message so that I can have a chance to reply directly to his vitriol. That's how internet trolls roll, though. They are not interested in debating, they're only interested in being haters.Let me give you some advice, "Andrew." Read a book about logic. Take a debate class. Learn some manners. See a psychotherapist. Do something, please, and do it before it's too late! You see, right now you've got nothing to offer society other than your hate. That's not enough. I'm glad you won't be coming back. Not only do you have unresolved issues from your childhood that I'd rather not have to deal with, but – frankly – you're not smart enough, and too cowardly, to debate with me.P.S. Unfortunately for the rest of my readers, I am disabling the anonymous posting function of my blog. Life's too short to have to deal with trolls. I'm doing it for Andrew's sake. Maybe if we don't enable him by giving him an outlet for his cowardice and stupidity, he will finally seek the help he so desperat... | | By: Finish Line Pundit: A Track & Field Blog | | |
| | The Wire Troll: Dan’s the Man | | 0000-00-00 00:00:00 | | If Dan Johnson and his BA of over .400 are sitting on the waiver wire, you must pluck with extreme prejudice.

| | The Wire Troll: Young Gun | | 0000-00-00 00:00:00 | | Having Luis Gonzalez, left, land in L.A. hasn’t exactly been anyone’s idea of a good Christmas present — especially his owners. The man who replaced him in ‘Zona, Chris Young, could be a good replacement for fantasy purposes as well.
Everyone wants to know how I assess the stats to find sleepers. Well, I use a [...]... | | By: RotoRob

| The Wire Troll: Could You Be Had? | | 0000-00-00 00:00:00 | | Kevin Youkilis has been flawless in the field, but his work at the plate has created even more excitement.
Okay, so this is going to be a short one since I am on vacation and the wife is beaming me down as we speak. Let’s just get to the nitty gritty…

| | The Wire Troll: Jose Can You See? | | 0000-00-00 00:00:00 | | If you’re seeking a replacement for Craig Monroe and his five strikeout game, you’ve come to right place.
So, you’re the guy in the league that has Craig Monroe and his record-tying five strikeouts in a game and you want to replace him, huh? Let me guess, you are torn between this guy and that guy, [...]... | | By: RotoRob
| | The Wire Troll: Going Gallardo | | 0000-00-00 00:00:00 | | James wonders where ethics come into play when using fantasy players like the retired Mark McGwire, who apparently relied on more than milk to launch his moonshots.
Well, Sammy Sosa hit home run No. 600 and he’s currently on the waiver wires for most of my leagues. So, do you go pick him up or take [...]... | | By: RotoRob
| | The Wire Troll: Not-So-Silent Lamb | | 0000-00-00 00:00:00 | | If you’re tired of watching Adrian Gonzalez get progressively worse as the season wears on, it may be time to consult the Wire Troll for assistance.

| | The Wire Troll: If You’ve Got Brains, Grab Braun | | 0000-00-00 00:00:00 | | If Ryan Braun is still on your waiver wire, you better move fast.
We’re back with another installment of The Wire Troll. I’ve been a little preoccupied this week as I’ve been at the Danny Granger basketball camp. Look for a report on that experience soon, but in the meantime, let’s get to some who’s hot [...]... | | By: RotoRob
| | The Wire Troll: Seeking Speed? | | 0000-00-00 00:00:00 | | Royal rookie Billy Butler, right, is enjoying life as a big leaguer so far.
Well, I almost didn’t get this article in with the Danny Granger interview and the rest of the stuff going on over the last week. I have been asked to dig a little deeper into my bag of tricks to give you [...]... | | By: RotoRob
| | The Wire Troll: Add Some Saltalamacchia to the Mix | | 0000-00-00 00:00:00 | | Regardless of what his long-term position is, the fact that Jarrod Saltalamacchia qualifies at catcher now makes him fantasy gold.
Okay, so the trade deadline has passed and fantasy football drafts have already began (I’ve already done two myself). So, who should you look at now that the trades are generally complete and players are mostly [...]... | | By: RotoRob
| | The Wire Troll: The End is Here | | 0000-00-00 00:00:00 | | With his recent play, Norris Hopper (leaning) is proving that knocking out Ryan Freel, as he did in a late-May collision, won’t be his biggest fantasy impact this season.
Well, fantasy baseball season is just about over and the finals are in full swing. But, just to be honest with you, if you are not in [...]... | | By: RotoRob
| | The Wire Troll: Getting Wired on the Waiver Wire | | 0000-00-00 00:00:00 | | At this point in the NFL season, if you are still looking over the waiver wire for starters, something went wrong. There are no full-time players that should be on the wire, and the only guys who see the field that are on the wire are there for a reason. But, let me run down [...]... | | By: RotoRob | | |
