| | | Underwater Music Fest reaches depths | | 2008-07-14 21:30:56 | | Can you fathom an Underwater Music Festival? The Florida Keys hosted the annual tradition this past weekend, and this year’s theme was the ‘eel-ection’. 500 divers partied as a radio station broadcast music underwater for four hours, piping tunes to speakers beneath boats at a coral reef, such as Jimmy Buffett’s “Son of a Son of a Sailor,” [...]... | | By: MusicNews&Views | | |

| Hugyfot HFC-40D Underwater Housing Review | | 2008-06-27 08:51:00 | | The combination of the Canon EOS 40D and the Hugyfot HFC-40D Housing is an excellent one. The underwater housing fits the camera like a glove and is very compact and waterproof to a depth of 300 feet. Its round curves and matte black colour make this housing look beautiful. Unfortunately it is somewhat difficult to operate the underwater housing for people with small hands. The fisheye port has no obvious distortion and the housing does not suffer from steaming up at all, not even at huge temperature changes. One point of interest is the fact that the camera has to be taken completely out of the underwater housing when its battery needs changing. And the leak detector works too well at times. Live View still needs to be further developed to be of use for underwater photography. Positives:++ Very compact size of the underwater housing.++ The underwater housing is waterproof to a depth of 300 feet.++ No steam inside the housing at vast temperature change.sNegatives:-- The underwater h... | | By: DSLR CAMERAS ONLINE | | |

| | Underwater World's latest attraction | | 2008-05-22 04:39:35 | | The Straits Times reported today that Sentosa's Underwater World is the first aquarium in Asia to acquire remotely operated vehicles. What are these? I hear you asking. Called Ocean Invaders, apparently they are underwater video cameras equipped with lights and propellers. You can hire them for $1 for 10 minutes and manoeuvre them to get a closer look at the marine life or a panoramic view. Direct them towards any fish in the tunnel aquarium and see the reaction. Sounds a little intrusive to me...as if the marine life don't have enough to deal with.Underwater World9am to 9pm daily (Last admission at 8.30pm)Adult: $19.90Child 3-12 years old: $12.70Child below 3 years old: FreeFor more Singapore Kids Places, go to home page by clicking here

| | Subal ND30 underwater housing for Nikon D300 dSLR review | | 2008-04-30 08:39:00 | | When the Nikon D300 was released last summer (’07) I along with many other underwater photographers recognised that its introduction coupled with the relatively low retail price would substantially influence uwp world over. In my role as uwp educator I decided to ‘jump on the bandwagon’ and upgrade from my trusty, reliable and much loved D200.You need to know that I have favoured Nikon since my days with a Nikon F2 and Oceanic housings of the 80’s. I have owned and used Subal housings since the introduction of the Nikon F801 in the early 1990’s. In my teaching role I regularly instruct in Ikelite, Sea & Sea, Nexus and Hugyfot DSLR housings. Whilst I’ll endeavour to be impartial as I can, the influence that Nikon and Subal have had on my own photographic career cannot be ignored. I am unable to compare the D300 against our Canon cousins but I do have sufficient experience using the D200 to compare against the Nikon D300. | | Amazing Underwater Creature Camouflage | | 2008-01-16 01:49:00 | | Camouflage or disguise, used by animal first rather human. They evolved to have this amazing ability to protect them self from being hunted, or conversely to hunt. Predators use them to sneak up preys without being noticed, and preys use them to hide them self from predators. There are a lot of camouflage used by animals. They transform shape to become bigger, shape shifting, change colour, mimicking and imitating other creatures, using their bio luminescence features to hunt or to run. This videos below shows some amazing water and sea creatures using all these features. The tadpoles transform bigger to save their self, the octopus virtually disappear in the sea becoming stealth to it prey, the mimic octopus mimic other dangerous creatures, squid hunts by stealth techniques and bio luminescence microorganism use their ability to flare for help. I think you should all these amazing oceanic creatures for your self. Click the play button in this video to play it.These animals are certainly unique and amazing, especially with these abilities. | | | // Underwater Photographs ~ Indonesia 2007 | | 2007-11-11 10:06:47 | | Fish says Hello, Gili Trawangan, Lombok, Indonesia.Just before I went to Indonesia I bought an Olympus Stylus 770SW which is a perfect compact camera for 'outdoorsy' people ;) Shockproof, Waterproof, Crushproof, and still a very reasonable image quality (semi professional quality, 7.1 Megapixels), and a beautiful design aswell (for me, that is, I also heard others who thought is was downright ugly...;)). The main reason I bought it was because I wanted to do some snorkling, and I thought it would be nice if I could take some nice photographs of that to share with you all. Well people, I made some pretty nice photos and movies underwater. Here's a small collection for you all...RickSome fish (can someone tell me what kind?) at Gili Trawangan.Coral, Gili Trawangan, Lombok, Indonesia.Turtle at Gili Trawangan, Lombok, Indonesia.Turtle diving, Gili Trawangan, Lombok, Indonesia.Turtle grabbing some air, Gili Trawangan, Lombok, Indonesia. This coral looks like brainmatter...The Gili Islands always have very clear water...more 'brainmatter', Gili Trawangan, Lombok, Indonesia.*** More photographs about Indonesia here. ***© Copyright // Rick Wezenaar Photography ~ All rights reserved

| | Bohol - Splendor Underwater And Over Hills | | 2007-10-23 19:41:00 | | by Remus Mark CarballoBrief Description Another gem of the Visayas, Bohols historical significance extends way back to the blood compact between Boholano Chieftain Sikatuna and the Spanish conquistador, Miguel Lopez de Legaspi, in 1565. Scenic Bohol casts an enigmatic charm drawn from the many archaic mementos spread throughout the oval-shaped island: from the Chocolate Hills and the tarsier to 16th century watchtowers and Jesuit Baroque mission churches. The Chocolate Hills, all of 1,268 perfectly cone-shaped hills, are undoubtedly the most famous tourist attraction in the province. Among these hills that abound in Central Bohol, two have been developed into top-class resorts. One of the rare faunas found in the Philippine archipelago, the Tarsier is the smallest primate in the world. It is a nocturnal primate measuring from four to five inches, with a tail that is longer than its body. Those interested in tarsier watching are always welcomed by the Boholanos to see the famou... | | By: Angat ang Pinoy | | |

This side of the island, split from the south by a volcanic mountain range, is also an ideal place for an active holiday in Indonesia, particularly if you are looking for a Bali diving holiday. An ideal time to visit is September, as the summer holiday visitors head home, the rainy season is yet to begin and temperatures start to cool.
