| Hampson is Padres' unsung hero | | 2007-07-25 17:56:00 | | Without a doubt, Justin Hampson is the unsung hero of the Padres.For the third time this season, Hampson bailed the Padres out of a desperate situation in last night’s 5-3 win at Colorado.After Chris Young left with a strained oblique muscle before the third inning, Hampson came on to pitch 3 2/3 shutout innings.It was the continuation of a trend whereby Hampson has been the go-to guy whenever the Padres needed someone the most.Remember the June 16 game at Chicago when Young was ejected for an altercation with Derrek Lee? Hampson was summoned to pitch 3 1/3 innings of shutout relief.Or how about the April 29 game when the Padres and Dodgers went 17 innings? Hampson allowed just one unearned run over the last four innings … and probably would have pitched all night if the Padres asked him to do so.The Padres better not send Hampson back to the minor leagues again. Well, no team with more than, say, a 4-12 record, at least. But most teams don't have two-time Pro Bowler Brian Moorman punting for their team, do they? Most Bills fans are aware that Moorman is an elite punter; it's time to understand his true value to this franchise. It runs much deeper than simply punting a football. Previous Heroes: LB Keith Ellison. Is the A-Train Forgotten? It's been quite an off-season in Buffalo as far as the running back position goes, with a lot of headlines made nationally. First the team traded Willis McGahee to Baltimore, which left national "experts" scratching their heads. The Draft then brought two rookies in Marshawn Lynch and Dwayne Wright who carry pretty heavy expectations in their first seasons. The potential of these two players has many Bills fans envisioning a long-term "Thunder and Lightning" backfield in Buffalo. Lost amongst the shuffle was the quiet re-signing of veteran Anthony Thomas, whose first season in Buffalo was anything but spectacular. | | Write Back Weekend "Unsung Heroes" | | 2007-05-13 17:30:00 | | Quick update on my computer woes. The bad news is I still can't access Google.com from my computer. This, in turn, means I also cannot log in to Blogger to update this blog since it uses gmail. The good (and weird) news is that I CAN access both Google and Blogger through the other computer in the house. This means I can update, just via that computer. I've tried everything I can think of to fix it, but I don't want to make it worse than it already is and lose everything, so I gave up. It's most likely a DNS issue because that's what it's been in the past. So, if you're familiar with those, any ideas are welcome. In the meantime, I have to use the Canadian Google for my searches.
