| President George W. Bush Meets With Pope Benedict At The Vatican Amidst Rumors That Bush Will Soon Convert To Catholicism | | 2008-06-13 11:33:00 | | President George W. Bush met with Pope Benedict at the Vatican yesterday amid growing rumors that Bush was seriously considering becoming a Roman Catholic. The two leaders gathered privately for half an hour in the 12th century Tower of St John. This was considered to be a great honor for Bush, and it was the Pope's way of reciprocating the warm reception that the Pope received when he visited the White House earlier this year. However, the big news here is that the Vatican is openly spreading the rumor that Bush may follow his good friend Tony Blair in converting to Catholicism.A portion of the source article is reproduced below:----http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/2122733/George-W-Bush-meets-Pope-amid-claims-he-might-convert-to-Catholicism.htmlGeorge W Bush and Pope Benedict XVI have held an intimate meeting in Rome as rumours mounted in Italy that the president may follow in Tony Blair's footsteps and convert to Catholicism. The two men spoke for half an hour | | By: Shattered Paradigm | | |

| | Pope to Convert, Join Southern Baptists - Vatican "Dumbfounded" | | 2007-12-31 16:32:00 | | CWT-Vatican City. Cats with Thumbs Italian station reports Pope Benedict XVI will announce his resignation from the papacy and conversion to the Southern Baptist religion - sources inside the Vatican say Pope Benedict will make a public resignation Wednesday during the scheduled 10:00AM Papal Audience at St. Peter's square. The Vatican press office would neither confirm nor deny the report when asked for an explanation by CWT reporters - several Cardinals, speaking on condition their names be withheld, said they were " shocked, dismayed, and, dumbfounded " at the news. " We just put that whole 'priests and child abuse mess' behind us, and now this," lamented one distraught bishop, " I mean, Jesus, Mary, and Joseph; it's one thing after another!"CWT sources at the Vatican could give no definitive reason for Pope Benedict's decision. " I think he's been a little miffed at the lack of press coverage," offered a member of the Vatican Swiss Guard;" Pope John Paul II was a hard act to | | By: Cats With Thumbs | | |

| | Vatican raises the rent | | 2007-09-06 21:26:00 | | Looking for an apartment's never easy. But here's a hint if you promise not to tell anybody else: the Vatican's got some good deals. Seriously. Even beyond St. Peters, the Catholic Church owns a lot of pricey real estate in Rome. For years, many of its tenants paid quite reasonable amounts, and they came to believe they were protected from rising rents. But Megan Williams reports now from Rome, their faith was misplaced.

| | Fox News, DCCC, Vatican caught screwing up Wikipedia! | | 2007-08-15 15:01:00 | | So Wikipedia has implemented some sort of spy machine sort of like the one the government (or more specifically, the NSA) uses to spy on Americans. Except this time, it's catching some pretty stupid employees at Fox News, the DCCC, the CIA, and even the Vatican in some pretty hilarious acts of vandalism!
The new Wikipedia scanner thing has revealed what we pretty much always suspected: The world’s political, religious and media leaders are about seven years old, on average. By matching anonymous edits to Wikipedia entries back to the office computers where they originated, the scanner is able to match up particular changes to particular organizations. For example:
Somebody at the CIA repeatedly added “Wahhhh!” to the profile of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
The CIA also made some helpful edits to, uhm, Oprah Winfrey’s profile.
At the Vatican, they fucked with the entry about the Catholic Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams, removing “links to newspaper stories written in 2006 that alleged that Adams’s finger prints and hand prints were found on a car used during a double murder in 1971.”
Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee computers added color commentary to the Rush Limbaugh profile, describing him as an idiot, racist and bigot, while noting this about his listeners: “Most of them are legally retarded.”
Diebold employees removed references to Diebold CEO Walden O’Dell being a loyal stooge of the Bush Administration.
People at Fox News fucked with Al Franken’s profile.
Fox News staffers also “de-loofahed Bill O’ Reilly, posted false information about the ratings of Fox News shows, accused Keith Olbermann of making light of Peter Jennings’ death and deleted rating info for MSNBC programs.”
Somebody at the NYT added the very clever insult “jerk” to Bush Junior’s entry, while others are editing the Wall Street Journal’s entry for some reason.

| | The Vatican, And The Angel Sleeping Next To Me | | 2007-06-17 07:00:31 | |
The following journal entry was written Saturday, August 1, 1998:
Today I woke up early in order to get to the Vatican before any lines formed. Well, there ended up being no wait at either the church or the museums. The walk across Rome to the Vatican City only took about 50 minutes. The piazza and colonnade seemed much smaller than I had thought, after seeing so many pictures. The longer I walked around it, though, the bigger it seemed. The church didn’t seem too impressive from the outside, maybe because the entire front facade was under scaffolding. Once inside, however, the magnitude of the art and architecture became obvious. The floor designs in marble, the size of the statues and the Baldaccino, and ceiling mosaics were indescribable. I couldn’t even take a picture for it would be impossible to capture the experience. The rays of light that came through the glass were very spiritual.
