| | Keimling vegetarian restaurant | | 2008-06-03 08:29:00 | | I am putting this ad up not because it is great, wonderful, or clever, but because it is just a weird weird ad. First off the particulars of the ad it is for Keimling vegetarian restaurant and done by the advertising agency Jung von Matt/Donau out of Vienna, Austria. What I don't get about this ad is are they trying to make this look like a collage a 2 year old would put together. Because if that is what they are doing they have accomplished it wonderfully, wonderfully as in I would hope you would never let a 2 year old put an ad for a company together. My real question is, is what is going on with the guys face. It looks like they cut his face apart in photoshop and tried to put it back together, with horribly bad results. If anyone can explain this ad to me please do because I just don't understand why it was made this way.

| | Can Muslims be vegetarian? | | 2008-02-13 14:50:25 | | i stumbled into Yahya's website which explores the choice to be vegetarian and how it is ok from islamic point of view, a very thoughtful piece:"The option to be vegetarian has always existed in Islam, whether or not it was actualized at any time or place. The great Sufi Râbi‘ah al-‘Adawîyah of Basrah was an early Muslim vegetarian; so were the famous poet Abû al-‘Alâ’ al-Ma‘arrî and the Ottoman sultan Bayezid II. In recent times, the renowned Sufi shaykh Bawa Muhaiyaddeen was a notable vegetarian Muslim. Nowadays there are more and more Muslims in different countries choosing to be vegetarian, although they have mostly kept quiet about it.Sometimes we get negative, hostile, indignant, or incredulous reactions from other Muslims who have never considered the possibility. One common line of attack goes, "You can't make harâm what Allah has made halâl! That is a sin!" Excuse me, but who ever said anything about making anything harâm? Why even bring that issue into it? | | By: Inspirations and Creative Thoughts | | |
| | Vegetarian Complications | | 2008-01-25 00:49:00 | | Philosophy would dictate that nothing is simple and everything has complications. Vegetarianism obedient as a hostage complies with this hypothesis.Stage 1: Pescatarianism"...those who abstain from eating all meat and animal flesh with the exception of fish" - About.com. Going pescatarian is best for those who do not have ethical or other beliefs on eating but want to be healthier (and not fat). Resultantly this diet will have you eating substantially more vegetables and fruit which will increase consumption of vitamins and minerals. Leading to a powered up metabolism to boot and supercharged battery (lingo conversion: you will feel more energetic). It will kick that fat in the ass (literally and metaphorically). Stage 2: VegetarianismWhat I have been for the last year and personally recommend to all those who really want to kick ass. Similar to a pescatarian but also does not eat fish, a lacto-vegetarian on top does not eat eggs, and a ovo-vegetarian on top does not eat dairy. A guara | | By: Fattie Boom Boom No More | | |
| | Vegetarian Paradise 2 | | 2008-01-22 13:27:00 | | I'm not a vegetarian but every once in a while, I meet up with my vegetarian friend Emily for a meal, and to catch up. Today, we squeezed in a lunch in between her classes (she's an NYU Law student) at Vegetarian Paradise 2 Vegetarian Paradise 2 .Our waiter came over and asked if we were ready to order, Emily replied yes, and he jumped to another table. It was really weird. Then, we had trouble flagging him down to order for a while. Later, my hot and sour soup (average vegetarian version) came but Emily's spring rolls didn't. We asked about it, and the waiter said it was coming. Later, the spring rolls appeared on one of the main dishes. This was especially annoying because we expressed to him that we were sharing the main dishes.Anyways, the Tofu and Mixed Vegetables were pretty bland but I enjoyed the (fake) Chicken and Spinach in Curry Sauce. The vegetarian chicken wasn't great but I liked the flavor of the sauce. In all, this place has odd service and very average and predictable food. The formula works though, with their lunch special prices. I probably wouldn't select to come here again but for about $7 per person, I would go if someone else wanted me to go with them. | | By: FoodMayhem | | |
| | Vegetarian Gal | | 2008-01-21 04:20:00 | | Yep. That is me. As of January 7, 2008. I wish I could tell you how bad it sucks. How much I miss eating meat...but I can’t. The truth is - I absolutely love the way I feel right now. I made the decision to go veg back in October when Jasmine introduced me to the book “Skinny Bitch”. Now, you may be wondering how an overweight gal that was raised in the midwest, loving meat and potatoes, could make this choice and actually be successful. Quite simply: I read everything I could get my hands on and I took it slow. Very slow.
At first, I rid myself of red meat. This was probably the most difficult of my choices. I had one last meal - A philly cheese steak sub and then called it quits. I knew it would be the last time I had beef so I had hub get me something that I really enjoyed. I savored every single bite of that huge sub. The juices dripped down my chin. The cheese was hanging off my mouth. Then, when it was gone, I wiped my mouth, brushed my teeth and was done with beef.
My next step - I dug out my favorite recipes that contained red meat and found a way to do them with chicken or without meat period. That way, I could enjoy my yummy food without feeling like I was missing out on anything. I was still eating chicken and seafood so most of this process was just a replacement of beef for chicken. I fell in love with chicken burgers. They cook up just like the beef burgers that the rest of my family was consuming but gave me half of the fat and calories. I piled my chicken burgers with fresh veggies and only a small smidge of condiments.
The third thing I did was join an organic food co-op. This was by far the best thing I did while working toward my goal. Every other week, I drive about 5 miles south of me to pick up 25 - 35 pounds of fresh organic produce. It costs me a whopping 43 bucks for each pick up. I get loaded up with greens, fruits, and veggies of all sorts. I have challenged myself to find ways to cook things differently. I mean | | By: Our Wicked Weighs | | |

| | Vegetarian Lasagna with Noodles and Pesto | | 2007-12-18 14:11:07 | | One of my first exposures to cheese and tomatoes, besides in a sandwich, was the Vegetarian Lasagna, a scrumptous, rich dish with a thick gravy and cheese flavored heavily with Italian herbs and layered with veggies and noodles. This was such a lovely way to enjoy the noodles that I instantly became a fan. So this thanksgiving, I thought I'd share with you this vegetarian main course that you and your guests would absolutely enjoy! Plus, it's so easy to tweak the basic recipe to add your choice of vegetables or meat and turn this into one of your favorites! Spiced with oregano, basil, thyme and parsely, this dish is a classic combination of noodles and veggies accentuated by the tomato sauce and cheese, and the mushrooms with Pesto take it to another level! Surely fit for a festive occasion, this Vegetable Lasagna will definitely bring an appealing taste to your palette!Ingredients4 long lasagna noodlesNonstick cooking spray1/2 cup chopped onion1 tspn dried oregano1 tspn dried basil1 | | By: Fun and Food | | |
| | Vegetarian Hot and Sour Soup - Chinese Soup, Indian Style | | 2007-12-11 14:10:32 | | For anyone who loves soups, there is one name, besides the famous Tomato Soup, which would surely go into their favourites for its unique smell, taste and flavor, and that is undoubtedly, the Hot and Sour Soup. This soy-sauce based chinese soup has the right blend of sourness and chili, providing a spicy kick which is offset by a bit of sugar that the recipe demands, and also the use of veggies and spring onions. Made of simple ingredients, this soup does not take a lot of your time, and is great for people suffering from cold. The use of pepper and ginger help in controlling appetite, and the taste is just too good for your tongue and will continue to linger in your mind even after you have finished the entire bowl!! I have indianised the traditional chinese recipe a bit to suit my palette, but basically, feel free to use your choice of vegetables so it works best for you.Ingredients2 tbsp Chili Sauce11/2 tbsp Corn Flour / Corn Starch1-1/2 tbsp Soy Sauce2 tbsp Vinegar2 tbsp Capsicum - | | By: Fun and Food | | |

| | Lose Weight the Vegetarian Way | | 2007-08-15 08:16:00 | | By Scott MeyersDo you need to lose weight? Even if you are only slightly overweight, and need to find a way to lose a couple of pounds, you may be frustrated with the options you have tried so far. Diet pills are designed for those who are severely overweight, and the side effects may not be worth the results. Other diets such as the low carbohydrate diet or the low fat diet may not help much either. It can be very difficult to eliminate fats or carbohydrates because they are found in so many kinds of food.Perhaps a better way to lose those pounds is the vegetarian diet. It is not designed to promote weight loss, but if you use it correctly, it could be the answer to a thinner, healthier you.Protein: The Hidden FatWhile consuming fat can certainly add the pounds, there are other sources of weight gain as well. Surprisingly, protein is one of them. If you are eating too much protein for your body to convert into muscle, your body will turn that protein into fat.The main source for protein in most people's diets is meat. By converting to a vegetarian diet, you will be eliminating a major source of protein and therefore fat from your diet. It is not wise to cut out protein from your diet entirely: if you don't provide your system with any protein at all, your metabolism will slow and you will find yourself storing more fat.A better idea is to change your protein source. Beans in combination with whole grains provide an excellent source of protein. As long as you keep your portions small you will be offering your body just the right materials without eating too much of a good thing. By eliminating meat, you will also be getting rid of a major fat source. Beans do not contain fat, but are instead a purer source for protein.Adding Up the Good StuffOn a vegetarian diet, you will be encouraged to eat more plant foods instead of meat. Fruits, vegetables and nuts all are great things to eat to boost your metabolism and to increase your weight loss capabilities. The sugars i | | By: Healthy Diets | | |

| | Vegetarian? Trying to 'SAVE' animals? | | 2007-04-30 01:41:09 | | I got this from http://maddox.xmission.com/hatemail.cgi - It's quite funny, BUT TOTALLY TRUE,Those vegetarians out there should ready read this and FUCKING WAKE UP!!!PETA stands for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. Let's ignore for a moment that their name implies there exists a universal set of ethics, and instead let's focus on the meat of this email: PETA is "primarily concerned with preventing the suffering of living animals." Oh really? As opposed to preventing the suffering of dead animals? Good thing they clarified because I was confused and couldn't infer that when they said "animals" they didn't mean dead animals. Glad we have that cleared up, let's move on.So what exactly constitutes as "prevention" of animal suffering? The moral vegetarians (not the ones who do it for religious or health reasons) love to chant "we're trying to limit the suffering." What the hell does that mean? If you eat wheat or soy, you're not limiting anything. Unless you plant, grow | | By: Obsession du Jour | | |
