Trece años después del estreno de la segunda parte de Ace Ventura, "Operación África", se plantea retomar las aventuras detectivescas del alocado personaje. Tras que Jim Carrey, actor que protagonizo las dos primeras partes, rechazase volver a encarnar a Ace por miedo a ser encasillado, la productora de la película Morgan Creek Productions pensó en una alternativa, Ace Ventura Jr., el hijo del detective que sigue sus mismos pasos.
Josh Flitter da vida al nuevo protagonista, junto a Emma Lockhart, Austin Rogers, y Ann Cusack.
Esta "peli" esta escrita y dirigida por David M. Evans ("Fuera de juego"). Cuenta la historia de Ace que regresa a Florida y se casa con Melissa (Ann Cusack) convirtiéndose en padre de un niño que sigue todos sus pasos, del que por ahora solo se conoce esta imagen y el póster.
