2009 Toyota Venza New Design On Sales Later
    2008-08-17 11:14:00
August 11, 2008 - Torrance, CA - The 2009 Toyota Venza, scheduled to go on sale later this year, is the first example of Toyota's new direction in passenger car design combining elegance, innovation, comfort and utility."We wanted to create something entirely different," said Kevin Hunter, president of Toyota's Calty Design Research in Newport Beach, Calif., and Ann Arbor, Mich. "Not an SUV, not a wagon, not a coupe and not a sedan. We aimed for a more road-focused vehicle and sporty direction." Venza is based on the FT-SX concept vehicle that debuted at the 2005 Detroit Auto Show. With an overwhelmingly positive response to the show vehicle, Toyota decided to develop Venza with a distinctly American plan. Toyota's U.S. design and engineering teams worked together to bring this bold design to production. It was one of the first times an American styling group created an overall design concept that engineers would follow for development. Venza will be assembled at Toyota Motor Manufactu

    2009 Toyota Venza
    2008-01-17 13:19:51
World Debut Of All-New Venza At 2008 North American International Auto Show January 14, 2008 – Detroit, MI - Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., unveiled the all-new 2009 Venza crossover sedan at a press conference here today at the 2008 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS). Venza will raise the crossover vehicle to new levels by combining a unique blend of sedan refinement and sport utility vehicle (SUV) functionality. 2009 Toyota Venza "The all-new Venza was developed as a vehicle that combines the styling, comfort and fun-to-drive performance elements of a five-passenger sedan with the surprising utility of an SUV," said Bob Carter, Toyota Division group vice president and general manager. "This winning combination will be ideal for active ‘boomers' and young couples with small families." All aspects of Venza's engineering and design were targeted specifically for the North American market where it will be sold exclusively. Venza was primarily engineered at Toyota Technical Center in Ann Arbor, Mich., and designed at Toyota's Calty design studios in Newport Beach, Calif. and Ann Arbor, Mich. Venza will be assembled at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky (TMMK), in Georgetown, Ky. The development focus of the Venza design team was to create a new crossover vehicle that shifted away from the more traditional SUV styling themes that tend to dominate the segment. Calty designers leaned more heavily on a sleek sedan concept with a wide stance that featured a sporty exterior and premium comfort interior but would also be equipped with important SUV attributes such as cargo space, towing capability and all-wheel-drive performance. The exterior design of the four-door Venza begins with an imposing front end featuring a distinctive grille, headlights and fog lamps for an aggressive, yet classy appearance. The front conforms to a sleek and aerodynamic shape with short overhangs, crisp character lines and a roofline and ground clearance that are lower t

Detroit Show Highlights: 2009 Toyota Venza
    2008-01-16 07:38:00
This is one of the most significant all-new production designs at Detroit. Designed in Toyota's Calty design studio in California, the Venza is an exclusive North American-market vehicle that targets young minded middle-class Americans for whom the Avalon is too staid and a Lexus too expensive. Sitting between the RAV4 and Lexus RX4 SUV crossovers, the Venza is more of a car-like crossover. It takes a direct lead in its conceptual design - integrated front face and rear three-quarter treatment - from the Toyota FTSX concept shown three years ago in Detroit, but it also innovates with an impressively well-resolved and distinctive form language. This is strongest in the echo around the DLO that hooks back on itself in the C-pillar and sets off the innovative tail light design. The 20-inch wheels - standard on V6 models - further demonstrate Toyota's ability to understand and appeal to this fickle target market. Inside the car is slightly more conservative, but has a handsome center stack design with integral gear shift and a high level of equipment. The Venza is an impressive design and one that we think will be a defining benchmark design for the emerging North American crossover vehicle class.
