    Viral Marketing using Forums
    2008-07-03 11:51:28
There are different types of forums, beyond the obvious topical types, of “marketing” or “special interest”, etc. “Marketing” and “special interest” are two types of what are commonly referred to as “open forums”. There are, however, business and professional forums, which do not operate under the same rules and, more often than not, disallow any and [...]

Viral Marketing versus Word of Mouth : What's the difference
    2008-06-16 06:03:47
I came across this interesting piece in Forbes which talks about that common confusion between Word of Mouth Marketing and Viral marketing. Many people think the word "viral" is interchangeable with "word of mouth"--implying that the product or service is so good that people are compelled to talk it up with their friends. However there is a subtle difference and it is explained by Roelof Botha a VC who played an integral part in the building of two of the most successful Internet companies of all time: YouTube and PayPal. According to him"Word of mouth is when I tell you to shop on Zappos because I think the service is great," explains Botha. "It becomes viral when you have to be ‘in the system’ to use it. For example I can post a video on YouTube but then you would need to go to the site in order to see it."A truly viral business is "like a disease," says Botha. "It needs to be transmitted from one person to another"--and the other person has to catch it. Once the next person catc

Make Internet Money Fast Using The Power Of Viral Marketing In Ordinary Every Day Activities
    2008-05-19 06:35:19
Some smart fast-talking folks who incidentally have never managed to make any serious money on the Internet, usually laugh whenever anybody mentions viral marketing. They will never really take viral marketing or any body who talks about it, seriously.Yet the truth is that the World Wide Web is what it is today because of viral marketing and viral growth. It all started with one computer being linked to another, and then a few, mainly for sharing research data and information. Then a few more computers wanted in and they shared with others how useful it was to link to each other. Within no time the few computers had grown to billions of computers all over the planet forming the World Wide Web we know today, which incidentally is still growing at breakneck speed. Another famous example is Hotmail, the free email service. Hotmail grew from a cold start to millions of users in a few weeks of rapid viral activity driven only by a very tiny, brief signature statement at the bottom of each e

    Viral Marketing Part 1
    2008-02-02 04:48:00
What is Viral Marketing? If you’ve been marketing online for some time, you should have heard of the term viral marketing. It is often dubbed as the most effective form of marketing due to its viral and credible nature and not to forget that it often does not cost you much to implement (in fact it can be free!).So the next question is, “What exactly is viral marketing?”'Viral Marketing' has been one of the big buzz phrases of the past few years. Many books have been written on the topic, but this phrase is probably coined by the owner of Hotmail around 1996. In the offline world, this is commonly known as 'word of mouth' advertising. It basically refers to letting people spread the word about your website/products to others when they come into contact with each other. In other words, when you create something that is so interesting or involving that others feel that their acquaintances must know about it too, they pass it on without any direct involvement on your part.Viral marketing

Why viral marketing is the most powerful way of advertising?
    2008-01-10 14:41:33
You know that in in order to make any sales from your website, you have to advertise it and let your potential customers know that it exists. You can't just simply build an website for your business and then sit and hope that maybe some "lost" internet surfers will land to it and hopefully buy something. This is not how the business are done ( especially online ). It is an old saying: "No traffic, no sales. No sales, no money." And believe me, it's very true.. Website promotion can be done in various ways: through pay per click advertising, banner advertising, search engine submission, search engine marketing ( also known as SEM ) etc. But I think that one of the most powerful ways of reaching a big number of customers in a relatively short period of time, is through viral marketing ( or viral advertising ). I'm talking about viral marketing done ONLINE.You may wonder why is this type of marketing so effective? Apart from the fact that you can reach a big number of customers in a short period of time ( as I've already mentioned above ), you can also use the advantage of the internet, which has the characteristic of being one of the fastest way to not only finding information about the things you're interested in, but also to spreading the word about a product or service that you want to offer. This is why viral marketing, if done correctly, can have very good results. Now, this are not the only benefits. In the following lines, I will show 4 more benefits of viral marketing. So, if you want to find them out, then continue reading this article ( may be helpful :) 1. It is easy to execute. Really, as more and more advertising services appear daily and offer a wide palette of advertising solutions, starting your own viral marketing campaign shouldn't be so hard. All you have to do is to find the right company willing to help you in setting the campaign. I won't say this is easy, because there are lots of advertising companies, offering various services, at variou

    2008-01-07 11:42:27
Techcrunch reports on how Mozilla has quietly launched a new viral campaign in support of Firefox, complete with song and some fighting words against Internet Explorer. This is a nice way to take the fight down to Microsoft's court and make more mainstream people aware about this great browser. This viral campaign consists of a microsite, a viral video , and a viral blog covering all the elements of viral marketing. The main part of the campaign is a site by the name of Fight Against Boredom which apparently means don’t use Internet Explorer, use Firefox. The site itself features a fake talk show setup, links to a Facebook page, downloads for the fight boredom song, and links to download Firefox. It’s meant to be viral and there are loads of funny statistics on the page claiming from Nielson online which claim that Compared to Internet Explorer users, Firefox users are 21% less likely to be a sales representative or agent at their current place of business.12% less likely to have done any online research on debt consolidation within the last 30 days.56% more likely to have purchased Latin or salsa music in the last 3 months. 45% more likely to have gone on vacation in San Francisco within the last 2 years. 33% less likely to live with others suffering from high cholesterol. 24% less likely to live with others suffering from heart disease. 66% more likely to have viewed or listened to audio or video about politics or public affairs news within the last 30 day. 89% more likely to have purchased database software for work in the last year. * 38% less likely to live with others suffering from breast cancer. There’s even a fake blog complete with mocked up Mozilla criticisms that is pretending to report on the viral campaign as well. Enjoy this youtube video of the song also

This viral has a 1970's feel with an Amitabh bacchan lookalike talking to a doctor about his ill mother. The doctor than prescribes some medicine, and says “Tumhari Maa ko dua ki nahi , dawa ki zaroorat hai”. Our hero somehow manages to bring the medicine but how therein lies the suspense watch this entertaining viral to find out

Viral Marketing - What, How and Why
    2007-11-22 23:59:58
Viral marketing has definitely gained its popularity over the global network. More and more businesses are adopting this marketing strategy to gain their fair share in the market. The approach developed by Hotmail in increasing its number of subscribers is one classic example of viral marketing. How Hotmail Did ItHotmail is one of the first web-based email provider that gives away email addresses for free. Their marketing approach starts by giving free web-based email addresses and additional services. Each of the messages sent with a Hotmail address has an advertisement at the bottom that goes: “Get your private, free email at http://www.hotmail.com.”Then, of course, Hotmail subscribers will use the service to send messages to their friends and colleagues. These friends and colleagues will get the message and read it, and then clicks on the link at the bottom. They will also sign up and be a subscriber like what the sender did. This 80-second clip has been viewed a record-breaking ten million times and has prompted a fierce debate about whether or not it is real.Sites that hosted the video were overwhelmed with comments, with some fans even claiming to have tried to copy the astonishing feat and has turned into one of the most successful viral marketing campaigns ever. The grainy footage, apparently captured on a mobile phone camera, shows a group of youngsters seemingly playing with a bundle of dynamite by a lake while one of them paddles into the centre on a surfboard. One of the youths runs on to a bridge, lights a stick of the explosive and throws it into the lake. After a moment's pause, it explodes, sending a huge flume shooting into the air and creating a massive wave. The surfer waits, paddles like mad, then coolly catches the wave and rides it to the water's edge - all to the beat of a pounding rap track. The film was in reality shot on high-definition cameras and digitally altered later to look as if i

    High Impact Viral Marketing Strategies:
    2007-11-01 06:17:00
Speed, low cost of development and optimized interaction are what make online viral marketing such a popular concept in e-marketing techniques. When you are making use of viral marketing strategies for spreading the word about your business, remember these words- ‘easy access’ and ‘free’. People would rather be paid for advertising your product than not being paid at all. But if you want them to advertise effectively, it is your responsibility to make it easier for them to do so. After all, you know your service better than them.Allow them to publish and feature any article written by you on their website, blogsite, e-book or whatever medium they are using citing you as their source. This is a good strategy employed by many businesses to attain credibility and visibility for their sites. If you have a discussion board on your webpage, allow advertisers who don’t have one to use it on their own site. Make sure they display your banner on it though. This happens very rarely, but then again you can be one of the few people using such a method.Any business oriented software, freebies or tools you have developed give them away generously and freely. Allow users to use these wherever they want and however they want to. Put in your ad on each copy though. Highlight your hand in any programme, feature or service they provide.Linking. It matters a lot. Let people add their link to your free website directory. Just make sure they link back advertising your directory.‘Free’ and ‘easy access’, these two words can take your business far if utilized prudently in a viral marketing strategy. When online marketing teams apply strategies like these the benefits are bound to be four-fold.Visit Clear Media Online to know more about how effective such services have proved for our clients.

Viral marketing Wrangler Truly Clean Jeans Campaign
    2007-09-22 22:05:26
Arvind Mills owned Wrangler brand underwent a rebranding exercise using new age media and viral marketing concepts.Wrangler had decided to shed its rustic image to take on a chic urban look and since its target audience is slick city youth besides traditional marketing it also adopted several below-the-line strategies and ‘new’ technologies such as mobile phone communication, online media and mall marketing. The ‘Truly Clean Jeans’ theme campaign saw Wrangler adopt a 360-degree campaign using new media – through applications such as WAP, Bluetooth and the Internet, apart from mall marketing.Wrangler also exploited the power of new media. At the Phoenix mall in Mumbai, Wrangler set up a Bluetooth zone and anyone walking within a 25-metre radius of that would receive Bluetooth messages on their handsets and could receive ringtones, wallpapers and m-coupons.A micro-site ‘ www.wrangler-trulyclean.com ’ was created with features such as online games and downloads such as wallpapers and posters. (Several youth brands have started looking at the ‘microsite’ seriously. A microsite is a Web site put up for a short period - usually coinciding with any promotion or event. For example, when ITC Foods forayed into the snacks category it ran a microsite called bingeonbingo.com with games and promotions.)Wrangler also promoted the Truly Clean campaign through print, and on Web sites such as IndiWo, Rediff, MSN, Yahoo and MSN Messenger, RediffBol, and on the Mauj.com WAP portal. (WAP sites are sites that can be viewed using wireless application protocol. This protocol allows users to download content onto mobile phones with GPRS connectivity.) The response to these initiatives has been terrific, Wrangler says .On an average, Wrangler claims that the microsite received over 2,000 page views per day and the WAP site saw 1.35 lakh downloads in just a month. This people then will pass it free to some other people and the e-book will get to more and more persons, spreading on the internet virally. Don't forget to include in that e-book the address of your site or some way to attract people to it. 2. Start a discussion board or a forum. Allow people to use your forum to promote their own websites or ideas. Maybe some don't have an website, so it would be a good place to start promoting their ideas. Also, don't forget to include some of your banners or ads in the forum, that people can use it to promote it. 3. Do you like web designing ? If so, you can create a couple of banners or any kind of graphics for your site, blog or forum that others can use it when they would like to

Free Samples Equals Viral Marketing Success
    2007-09-05 19:18:56
My company Kinoli handles the Internet Marketing for Petfresh, makers of the healthiest dog food on the planet. We recently redesigned the web sites for their two brands, Homestyle Select and Deli Fresh. After launching the new Homestyle Select web site, we sent an email to a list of veterinarians encouraging them to check out the web site and fill out an online form. In return they would receive a free sample of Homestyle Select. The only way to access the free sample form was through the link provided in the email. A few weeks after we sent the emails to our list of veterinarians our client noticed that they received a few hundred submissions for free samples in the time span of a couple hours.

    Viral Marketing the Google way
    2007-08-29 20:32:24
Google sometime back had released a collaborative video of Gmail and had asked users to imagine how an email message travels across the world and post their own videos on the same theme. Now this is a very unique and viral way to promote its weaker link Gmail which is not as popular as compared to other mail services like a yahoo mail as well as to tap into user creativity and promote video making on Youtube and to add to it Google has posted the locations of users by mashing it up with a Google Earth API thus a three way cross brand promotion and all without spending a dime. From a marketing point of view the key in fact is the Gmail logo in the shape of an envelope which is being passed around in the video and that is very visible throughout the video through which Google is trying to create a subconscious brand appeal for Gmail. We really have a lot to learn from them even in terms of marketing. You can check out the final video which was combined after nearly 1100 video submissions

    10 High-Impact Viral Marketing Strategies
    2007-08-20 22:49:00
Viral Marketing is allowing people to giveaway and use your free product or service in order to multiply your marketing quickly over the internet. The idea behind viral marketing is that you include your ad with the freebie people giveaway or use. Below are ten high impact viral marketing strategies:1. Allow people to reprint your articles on their web site, in their e-zine, newsletter, magazine or ebooks. Include your resource box and the option for article reprints at the bottom of each article.2. Allow people to use any of your freebies as free bonuses for products or services they sell. Include your ad on all your freebies.3. Allow people to use your online discussion board for their own web site. Some people don't have one. Just include your banner ad at the top of the board.4. Allow people to sign up for a free web site on your server. Since you are giving away the space, require them to include your banner ad at the top of the site.5. Allow people to add their link to your free web site directory. Just require that they return a link back to your web site, advertising your directory.6. Allow people to provide your free online service to their web site, visitors, or e-zine subscribers. They could be free e-mail, e-mail consulting, search engine submissions, etc.7. Allow people to give away your free software. Just include your business advertisement inside the software program.8. Allow people to give away your free web design graphics, fonts, templates, etc. Just include your ad on them or require people to link directly to your web site.9. Allow people to place an advertisement in your free ebook if, in exchange, they give away the ebook to their web visitors or e-zine subscribers.10. Allow people to give away your free ebook to their visitors. Then, their visitors will also give it away. This will just continue to spread your ad all over the internet.Author: Max LundMax Lund is an leading internet marketer. 337+ High Quality Software Products Give Away For

Google Earth uses Matt for viral Marketing showcasing amazing tourist destinations
    2007-08-20 07:36:57
Well what happens when you combine some of the most wonderful tourist destinations with a ridiculous dancer and show it on a video .Matt Harding became a phenomenon in the early days of videos on the Internet. While traveling on a vacation he decided to take video of him performing silly little dances in front of interesting places. He posted his video and became an Internet video hit. People were amazed at all the locations he went, and the silly things that would happen in the background as he danced. He got a sponsor and began traveling all over the world to do more little dances. He started up a web site called "Where the Hell is Matt?" and inspired dozens of people to copy, spoof, or fake their own videos like his. You can read a rather self-deprecating summary about Matt on his website. This is one of his original original videos having more than 7 million times. Now Google has worked with Matt to produce a video showing Matt on locations where he has danced in Google earthSourced

    Viral Marketing 101
    2007-07-31 13:46:30
Wikipedia defines viral marketing as: marketing techniques that use pre-existing social networks to produce increases in brand awareness, through self-replicating viral processes, analogous to the spread of pathological and computer viruses. It can be word-of-mouth delivered or enhanced by the network effects of the Internet. Viral marketing is a marketing phenomenon that facilitates and encourages people to pass along a marketing message voluntarily. The huge portion to take out of that paragraph is brand awareness and self-replicating viral processes. Most viral marketing campaigns do not lead to direct sales, but they can have an impact on brand awareness. I’ve ran viral marketing video campaigns before (and some videos have over 1.5 million views), and there was no lift in sales. However, the site did get a few links to it, so I’m sure it’s ranking a little higher than previous. Also, if you are having to do quite a bit of work to make the “viral”

A new concept in viral marketing
    2007-07-26 14:13:01
Pedro Sardinha has come up with an interesting concept in viral marketing. This is the first one that I’ve seen of this type (correct me if I’m wrong)… He is offering $2 for anyone linking back to his site to promote his free e-Book. Posts like this just help in spreading the word; which is what viral marketing is all about! The concept is quite simple. His e-book has links to affiliate sites from where he hopes to reap in the benefits. Nice concept Pedro. Let us know how successful you get at this. Mginger Courting Trouble (Pitfalls of Viral marketing in India)
    2007-06-08 18:52:00
One of the most successful way of creating a Word of Mouth advertising is to give everyone involved in the process a chance to make some money himself .Google proved it with adsense by giving a share of advertising to everyone and in the process making millions for itself .Everybody wants to get rich quickly and this is what Mginger was unable to pick having started with an estimate of getting 50 thousand users in the first month they ended up having over 4.7 lakhs registered users (power of WOM) and they were frankly not prepared for this since they had only 10 advertisers with them. This has led to angry reaction from their registered users who were expecting to get rich quickly with mginger's ads but are yet to receive any ads . People had signed up with intention of receiving 7-10 ads per day and when they find they are yet to receive any ads they are bound to get angry.Mobile advertising is new in India and advertisers are skeptical of its capability after all people are receiv

    2007-06-04 15:46:00
While surfing on social bookmarking site bestofindya I realized that I have been robbed of my posts 10 reasons india's crazy about Orkut and India world's 5th largest market by an Ibibo blogger and worse it was being promoted at bestofindya.this continues to highlight the tragic fact that Ibibo has now become a hotbed of poor quality bloggers who in their quest for earning money will fall to any extent and this has created lot of discontent amongst the blogging community in India.Ibibo was launched by MIH which is part of Naspers a multi billion dollar media company. The website was launched in august of 2006 and to boost its blogging numbers in india it decided to pay cash for blogging and since then has become notorious for its bloggers stealing content from various Sulekha blogs alootechie has a story about it here. Its formula was interesting as it along with rediff iland both believe in increasing social networking with blogging something which has worked well at iland though eve

Well on the top of this pages you are now getting live streaming video content from Nautanki.tv.Thes guys already featured on Businessworld and other magazines and are the guys who seem to me capable of filling young India's entertainment needs they have an idea that is different from hordes of other entrepreneurs who are entering Indian market and have built a so far successful network about it and claim a 500000 viewers for their content. They had set out to launch a TV channel but realizing that they needed 300 crores for that they ended up creating an online tv network. It is still in beta and does not seem to have more than an hour of content for the day but what is interesting is there decision to go viral with a monetary incentive aka Google AdWords. Now bloggers like me are syndicating their content and showcasing it on websites and so their numbers are on the rise. However there are still some question before they make it big firstly are they capable of handling the increased t

    Apa Itu Viral Marketing?
    2007-05-04 06:12:00
